Chapter 9:

Chapter 9: The Sky Has No Ending

Looking at Kou Hong’s statement on the table, Li Fan was a little disheartened.

Kou Hong had not lied to him, he indeed did not know the way that could make mortals leave this land of immortal extinction.

“Immortal extinction of the land ……” five reincarnation, three hundred years of expectation, at this moment all turned into a hopeful but unattainable bubble.

Cultivation of immortality dream shattered, Li Fan seems to be completely old overnight.

Not only physically, but also psychologically.

“Land of Immortal Extinction ah ……” He once again recited the name in his mind, endless unwillingness welling up in his heart.

“How could I have traveled and descended into such a place? If I were to cross over to the outside Immortal Cultivation Realm, with the power of [Returning Truth] to infinitely simulate reincarnation, I would definitely have hope for a long life. But I hate that it’s this Immortal Extermination Land!”

The information in Kou Hong’s confession crossed Li Fan’s mind once again.

The so-called Immortal Extinction Land, as the name suggests, is a place where immortals are extinct. Thousands of years ago, the ancient Immortal Cultivation World suffered a great change.

At first, it was just a plague that swept through the entire mortal realm, and no immortal cultivator cared.

However, after an Immortal Cultivator was accidentally infected by this inexplicable plague, things became completely out of control.

After infecting the Immortal Cultivator, the plague seemed to have been inexplicably strengthened and became able to spread amongst cultivators.

The means of spreading was none other than the aura that Immortal Cultivators relied on to survive.

Through the heaven and earth aura, the plague quickly spread throughout the entire Immortal Cultivation Realm. The cultivators infected with the plague would lose their cultivation and fall down; the heavier ones would lose all their cultivation overnight and become no different from the mortals, and then they would die in a few days and return to the heaven.

With the deaths of a large number of Immortal Cultivators, a wave of despair began to spread among the Immortal Cultivator community.

In desperation, some Immortal Cultivators vented their anger on the source of it all, the mortals.

Thus, a mass slaughter began.

Facing the towering Immortal Masters, the mortals had little power to resist and could only be slaughtered.

But it wasn’t long before this slaughtering operation was forcibly terminated.

Not because they had a guilty conscience, but because the Immortal Cultivators were horrified to discover that with their massacre and the deaths of a large number of mortals, not only did the plague within these mortals not disappear with their deaths, but instead, it lost its boundaries in general, and all of it spread out along with the aura that was all over the sky and the earth.

For a time, the content of the plague within the Immortal Cultivation Realm skyrocketed.

This instead led to the fall of even more Immortal Cultivators.

With no choice, the Immortal Cultivators then gave up this killing behavior against mortals.

However, sitting back and waiting for death was obviously not the style of action of the Immortal Cultivators, on one hand, a group of Immortal Cultivators began to research and develop treatments to resist this plague, on the other hand, the Immortal Cultivators came up with the infamous 【Great Migration Plan】.

Although this plan was opposed by a significant portion of the Immortal Cultivators at the very beginning of the proposal, most of them voted in favor of it for the sake of their own survival.

The so-called [Great Migration Plan] was based on the following considerations:

The mortals can’t be killed, and finding a complete solution to this plague is a long way off, so if the mortals are allowed to reproduce freely, the Immortal Cultivators are bound to have a harder and harder time as the plague grows more and more prevalent.

And this bizarre plague relies on aura in order to spread, so a logical solution was proposed.

Banish all the mortals in the Immortal Cultivation Realm to small worlds, broken caves, and other places in the surrounding area that do not have spiritual qi, and then use formations to isolate them forever, not allowing these mortals to return.

In this way, the problem of mortals will be solved once and for all, and then we will slowly study the way to fight the plague.

Anyway, the unexplored small worlds are almost endless, so there’s no worry that they won’t be able to hold these mortals.

Thus, under the arrangement of the unified will of the entire Immortal Cultivation World, all the mortals of the Immortal Cultivation World began their centuries-long migration.

As for how many mortals would die during these centuries during the migration, it was not within the scope of these Immortal Cultivators’ considerations. Anyway, in front of the power of the Immortal Cultivators, there was no room for the mortals to resist. In this way, after hundreds of years of migration, the mortals of the entire Immortal Cultivation Realm were migrated and dispersed to various small worlds in the surrounding area. It was only after this and nearly a thousand years that the concentration of the plague in the Immortal Cultivation Realm finally dropped to a lower level.

During the thousand years, the Immortal Cultivators finally found a way to purify this plague after continuous research.

After that, it took another thousands of years before the Immortal Cultivators completely swept away the threat of this plague.

However, what made the Immortal Cultivators feel embarrassed was that this plague actually lingered on, hidden in the bloodline of mortals.

Originally, the entire world was already free of mortals, but not every offspring produced by the union of Immortal Cultivators had the qualifications to cultivate Immortality.

So for a long time, the world gave birth to many, many mortals. Inside these mortals, there was the shadow of this plague.

And because this plague has a special killing power for Immortal Cultivators, if the offspring of mortals want to cultivate Immortality, they must remove the plague from their bodies.

Over time, this plague became synonymous with the difference between Immortals and Mortals, and so it was named the Immortal Mortal Miasma.

When the Immortal Mortal Miasma was rampant, it left a great psychological shadow on all the immortal cultivators. In order to prevent the Immortal Mortal Miasma from returning, the immortal cultivators agreed to try not to go to these places where the mortals were banished in the first place.

Over time, these places have become the so-called Immortal Extermination Places.

There are countless Immortal Extermination Places of all sizes, and the number of Immortal Cultivators who are willing to enter these places at great risk is very few.

It was already a blessing to have Li Fan stumble upon two of them.

Now that these two Immortal Cultivators did not have a way to make it possible for mortals to get out, how could Li Fan expect another Immortal Cultivator of a higher cultivation level to break in?
What’s more, as a mortal, his lifespan was limited. Even if he could constantly simulate reincarnation, it would only be repeated within his lifespan.

This year, he was already seventy years old, and the upper limit of his physical lifespan was eighty-six years old.

In these sixteen years, the possibility of meeting another Immortal Cultivator was basically zero.

Since this was the case, how could Li Fan not feel despair?

Obviously seeing the hope of cultivating immortality to seek longevity, but did not expect that, in the end, it was just an empty joy.

Can’t it be that he can only repeat the life of a mortal again and again?
Li Fan was really unwilling.

The road to immortality was right in front of him, within reach, yet far away in the sky, hopeless.

How could this make Li Fan be willing?
Thinking about everything he had experienced in his reincarnation for several lifetimes, and the nearly three hundred years of bitter waiting, how could Li Fan be unwilling to give up the path to immortality.

Is there really no way out?

Suddenly, as if a bolt of lightning cut through the fog, Li Fan suddenly thought of certain places that he had overlooked before.

How did a large number of mortals migrate thousands of years ago?

Although the Small World and the Immortal Cultivation World were neighboring, they were always not the same world.

Surely these mortals didn’t come here on foot, right?
There had to be some sort of vehicle to carry them over, right?

Are these tools still around today?

If he found these tools, would he be able to travel to the Immortal Cultivation World?

Even if it was just a slim possibility, it still gave Li Fan the hope of cultivating immortality.

His mood became excited, so he immediately headed to the prison cell where Kou Hong was being held.

He wanted to find Kou Hong to seek confirmation of the feasibility of his idea.
