96. Chapter 96 – Houghton’s Encounter with Crouching Dragon and Phoenix Chicks

Chapter 96: Houghton’s Encounter with the Crouching Dragon and the Fenghuang Brood

Ichorite Academy, the Gothic Revival style building located at the edge of the Magic Engineering Academy is one of the campus’ landmarks – the

The old Arts and Sciences Building of the Magic Engineering Academy.

Once a workshop for the whims of magical artisans, the historic building with its red brick facade and classical reliefs was renovated decades ago and used as a public building to provide the technology of the Academy of Magical Arts and Sciences to the students of the other faculties.

When he first enrolled in the school, Ranch came here once to receive his student bracelet, but did not go to the higher floors.

The first floor was the public Magician Technology Service Center.

The second floor was the new magic engineering technology creative workshop belonging to Professor Pollao, the research leader of the Academy of Magic Engineering.

The third floor is the Student Management Committee.

The wind was boisterous today.

After Ranch and Huberian finished their only class in the morning, they went straight to the old Liberal Arts building along the school road and arrived at the third floor by following the steps.

Just as they stepped out of the stairway, a spacious and brightly lit section of corridor came into view.

There were several small chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, casting soft light throughout the hallway, and the brownish-red carved wooden walls were decorated with gilt patterns, giving Ranch and Huberian the impression that this place was solemn and incomparably quiet.

As they walked on the soft carpet that stretched all the way to the end of the corridor, in front of the doors to the student union room, they turned their heads sideways to get a view of the college from the rows of huge windows, with their green lawns, rows of large trees, and scattered students passing through.

Finally, the two of them reached the deepest part of the room, the large, crimson, double-opening doors.

“Hubertarian, are you ready?”

“Uh-huh.”

Accompanied by a nod from Huberian, Ranch tapped on the door twice.

“Come in.”

Soon, a gentle, subdued and steady male voice came from behind the door.

Ranqi pushed open the heavy mahogany door, and the air mixed with the scent of coffee and candles hit his face, and what came into his eyes was a broad meeting room of hundreds of square meters, and there were only three people in the room –

Behind the desk facing the main door, there was a handsome man sitting with a straight spine and starry eyes, with the temperament of a knowledgeable researcher.

The long table made of dark wood in front of him was as smooth as a mirror, and the crimson curtains by the huge window half-covered behind him shone in the sunlight like a theater curtain.

Beside the long table stood a woman with a gentle expression, also looking slightly puzzled at Ranchi and the two of them, she was holding a pile of documents in her hands, seemingly ready to take them to the right side of the meeting room and put them on the row of tall bookcases along the wall.

The left side of the meeting room was supposed to be a lounge area, complete with a coffee table with plush leather sofas on either side, the colors matching the tables and chairs.

On the very comfortable looking sofa was sitting a man with gray hair color and wearing small sunglasses.

“May I ask you two, have you had any trouble at school?”

The student president sitting on the main seat looked over at the two visitors with a friendly and confident smile.

He seemed to recognize Ranch and Huberian, two characters who had caused quite a stir since they first entered the school.

However, the president didn’t treat them as special characters, and just questioned them as usual.

“Hello, we would like to ask if the student council is still recruiting?”

Ranchi felt very comfortable with the president’s attitude.

It wasn’t just that he wasn’t hostile to Huberian.

The way he looked at himself was also unperturbed, not in the way that other students felt when they saw him in a rare way. It was true that, as Vivian had said, the president was an insightful person.

The president nodded, understanding the purpose of the two’s visit, and then he stood up from his seat, signaling the two to join him in the lounge area to talk more.

Soon, the president sat next to the gray-haired white youth, while Ranch and Huberian sat on the opposite couch.

The woman, who was by the bookcase, came over with a tray and china cups and poured a cup of coffee for each of the men after she had finished placing the papers in her hands.

“I’m the president of the Student Team Management Committee, Monast, and she’s the vice president, Asna.”

Monast thanked the woman who had poured the coffee and introduced himself to the duo of Ranch and Huberian.

“He’s Frey, the new Knight Academy freshman who joined the student council.”

He then said as he spread his palms again and pointed to the gray-haired young man sitting on the couch.

Ranch and Huberian glanced at each other, both of them slightly impressed with the guy named Frey.

The second round of the entrance exam was a unified exam between the Knight Academy and the Sage Academy, and each was not separated until the third round.

And this oddball from the Knights’ Academy passed the second round of the entrance exam faster than Ranchi –

Compared to Ranqi using the law to arrest that evil couple, he chose to directly mortgage and borrow money, and used his physical qualities to harden himself against the extremely cold wind and snow.

Originally, Ranchi and Huberian wondered which team Frey had been recruited by, but they didn’t realize that he had already joined the student union.

“In fact, the student management committee is currently in a state of serious lack of manpower, with the graduation of the previous student council members, currently there is only one newcomer, Frey, who joined under the introduction of the dean of the Knights’ Academy, and was originally considering that a lot of affairs this semester might require the vice-president, Asna, and I to personally step in to resolve them after dealing with the work of handing over to the school, but I didn’t expect that the two of you would be here at this time I didn’t expect you two to come at this time.”

President Monastery looked slightly tired as he gently sipped his coffee, slowly putting the porcelain cup down and closing his fingers before looking at the two with a smile.

It seemed that the two of them had relieved him of a lot of pressure at work just by coming here to express their intention to enter and leave the meeting.

Ranch nodded, the president’s intention seemed to be to be willing to accept the two of them.

“I have heard of your strengths, and if you don’t mind the possible hard work and troublesome affairs of the Student Council, I would be more than happy to invite students Ranch Wilford and Huberian Alansal to join.”

“……”

Moment of Silence.

A breeze blew in through the window, the curtains fluttering gently, bringing with it the freshness of the outside, brushing gently across the desktop, skimming the couch, and brushing across the pages of a book, bringing up a soft chirping of paper in the quiet moment of this chamber.

President Monast and Vice President Asna were both friendly, and Frey, though he didn’t know what to think, looked at both of them no differently than he would a normal person.

Ranch and Huberian looked at each other one last time and both nodded.

“I would very much like to join the student council.”

“Me too.”

“Then both of you are welcome to join, the school side of the declaration procedures can be handed over to me as the president, in addition, there is also a second year secretary of the Alchemy Academy in the student council, but she is usually busy with the newspaper side of the business, only occasionally come here, you have the opportunity to meet her later.”

The two nodded solemnly.

But looking at the President’s gaze, it seemed like there was something troubling that he wanted to ask them for right now.

“In fact, there happens to be an imminent job at the student council right now, and originally I was a bit uneasy about letting Frey go alone, and was prepared to accompany him when I was done with the backlog of business at hand. But if the three of you collaborate together, I’ll be able to handle my job with peace of mind.”
