Chapter 167 – Papa Ranch’s Travelogue of Joy to Campus

Houghton Kingdom.

A day had passed since Ranch entered the Shadow World.

On this early Saturday morning, the sun broke through the thick clouds and poured over the masonry and glass of the royal capital, Ichorite, leaving a warm glow.

The red-brick buildings in this city, which retained its antiquity and was at the same time highly modernized, gleamed in the morning sunlight, and the glass walls reflected the blue of the sky and the whiteness of the clouds.

At the central station of Icerite, magical railroad trains glide gently along with a steady hum, carrying residents and tourists at high speeds to their destinations.

The hustle and bustle faded away as they walked through the station’s concourse level, followed by the crisp sounds of store bells intertwined with the melodic sounds of bards strumming their instruments in the upper reaches of the square in the distance.

A middle-aged man dressed as a merchant arrives at the plaza across from the central station and boards a small horse-drawn carriage to begin his journey through the city.

The soft leather seats of the carriage swayed gently, bringing a refreshing and cozy breeze.

His sideburns were slightly gray, but his demeanor and majesty had not diminished at all, and every corner of his coat was neatly tended.

“This kid, don’t let me catch you.”

Noël Wilford couldn’t help but mutter to himself as he sat in the carriage, looking out over the landscape of Icrypte.

After hearing about the fine that Professor Pollao, the Dean of the Academy of Magical Engineering, had issued to their home.

Ranch Wilford’s father, Noe Wilford, took a rare boat ride back to the South Vantina Territory on the southern border of the Hedon Kingdom from Glenwyverly City on the northern border of the Krizan Empire.

The other day, Noé was first very shocked when he received a cross-country magical communication contact from his butler Hans.

He had told Hans, the butler, before he left the Houghton Kingdom last time that as long as the matter about Ranchi was not particularly serious bad news, there was no need to use the expensive, complicated and strictly regulated cross-border communication equipment to notify him.

If it was just some minor trouble, it would be fine to trouble Hans the butler to help Ranqi out on his behalf.

As a result, Noe had not received any news about Ranchi in the past few months in the Krizgan Empire.

Noe naturally assumed that the bastard had already seen the gap between him and the geniuses of his age in the royal capital, and returned to the South Vantina Collar with a grimace, living the happy days of the muddle-headedness again.

After all, there was no way Ranqi could have passed the Alchemy Academy’s entrance exams after just a short period of study.

“Alas, I hadn’t asked that much of him in the first place.”

Noe sighed, he knew that Ranch wasn’t academic material at all, and asking him to study was merely to regulate him.

Even from the very beginning, Noe had never expected Ranchi to actually get into a good school like Ichorite Academy.

As long as Ranchi didn’t learn to be bad or get into trouble, he would be fine.

However.

If you don’t go back to your country, you won’t know, but if you go back to your country, you’ll be surprised!
That kid was rumored to have actually passed the entrance exams for the Ichorite Academy, and hasn’t returned home since he went to the royal capital!

And he even got into the Sage Academy!

Even though the fine from the Magic Engineering Academy and Ranchi’s enrollment letter were both made to look like the real thing, Noe couldn’t help but feel that something wasn’t right.

So Noe rushed to the royal capital of Ichorite on a magical energy railroad train within the country overnight, and after getting off the train, he headed to the Ichorite Academy located in the center of the city.

Along the way, the carriage carried the distraught Noe past the famous landscapes of Ichorite.

Early in the morning, Houghton Pedestrian Square was not yet fully busy, from the artistic streamlined buildings under the Erika Tower to the wide boulevard by the Yala River, various stores were preparing to open their doors one after another, and the faint aroma of coffee and desserts was spreading out.

Most of it took tens of minutes.

The sightseeing carriage arrived near the college. The legendary Ichorite Magic Academy was located in the center of the royal capital.

Carrying a lightweight black suitcase, Noe stepped into the academy’s territory.

After traveling a few steps, he was greeted by the sound of a grand and harmonious bell.

It was the melodious chime of the ancient bell tower of the iconic Ichorite Academy, and it struck nine times before stopping, meaning that it was already nine o’clock in the morning.

The bell tower stood in the middle of a vast lawn, surrounded by lush trees, and the sunlight filtered through the dense foliage, spilling down onto the green grass, creating an intricate patchwork of light and shadow.

Noé followed the map on the sign and walked through the various buildings.

He saw the library of the Sage Academy’s ancient tower, whose facade was inlaid with fine bas-reliefs, and the Knight Academy’s arena with its pointed-arched panes, as well as the magical screens everywhere and their walls reflecting the shadows of the sky and the surrounding greenery.

After a ten-minute walk or so.

Noé gradually got lost in this campus.

He felt that the main building of the Magic Engineering Institute he was looking for was nearby, but how could he not know how to find the old Arts and Sciences building of the Magic Engineering Institute in the garden of Noe through the signposts, and then go through the end of the garden to reach the Magic Engineering Institute area.

Just at this time of confusion.

He saw this sparsely populated garden.

A student’s figure finally appeared.

“Student, may I ask if you know how to get to the dean’s office of the Magic Engineering Academy?”

Noe hurriedly walked over and asked the light blue haired girl who looked more approachable.

In addition to the magic energy recording camera hanging around her neck, she had two work tags on her chest, and appeared to be both a member of the student council and a reporter for the Houghton Times.

“Sure, I’ll take you there, but may I ask if you have an appointment?”

The young girl whose name field on the work tags read Luvihil instantly broke into a cordial smile, quite a metrosexual, enthusiastic and lively feeling.

As the secretary of the student council, she had recently been called back to help out due to the lack of manpower in the student council, and as a result, she had just walked downstairs from the student council meeting room on the third floor of the old Liberal Arts Building when she encountered someone in need of help.

“Made an appointment, Professor Pollao will be waiting for me in his office by noon today.”

Noé replied, sighing inwardly that it was worthy of being the best school in the Houghton Kingdom, with students of such good character and willingness to help.

“If I’m not being scammed ……”

With that Noé added.

In fact, he was still more skeptical to this day that the Sage Academy’s enrollment letter was forged by that brat.

He even came up with the nasty idea of using a forged ticket to try and scam his family out of a large sum of money because he had spent all his money, as a way to continue indulging in a cozy life in the royal capital.

And the one who was contacted yesterday using the communication magic within the country wasn’t really Prof. Pollao, it was just an actor that that brat had hired.

If that was really the case, if Noe caught him in the act, he wouldn’t be able to kill this sinner!
But the enrollment letter and the fine slip are just too fake to be true ……

The only thing that was broken was that the fine party was issued a little off.

It wasn’t in the name of the Ichorite Academy, but the private name of Professor Pollao, the head of the Magic Engineering Academy.

As a veteran businessman, Noe knew very well that it was more reasonable to issue either a public-to-private, or public-to-public fine for this kind of claim situation.

Only the private-to-public ticket, with Prof. Pollao claiming from the Wilford Chamber of Commerce, seemed very strange!
It was like Professor Pollao was joining forces with Ranch to blackmail their family!
