Chapter 35 Mossa

Chapter 35 Mosa
Lin Zhiqin drove through half of the city, midway through the evening rush hour that had just begun, slightly blocked for a while, and stopped at a spacious street more than half an hour later.

“675 Bachelor Avenue.”

“Mosa Fight Club.”

A quick glance at the huge sign hanging over a nearby building showed that the address was spot-on with what he’d looked up on the contest webpage poster last night.

This area was close to the industrial park in the south of the city, the buildings weren’t too dense, there was little traffic and people, and the roads and streets seemed empty.

Lin Zhiqin parked his car directly on the side of the road in a parking space, and then greeted Lu Yuan as he got out of the car.

“Let’s go, take advantage of tonight’s match before it starts to show you around.”

Lu Yuan nodded and got out of the car before following behind Lin Zhiqin.

As he walked under the huge sign and prepared to enter, Lu Yuan saw a few other signs hanging on the door.

“Mosa Fighting Fans Association.”

“Mutual Aid Association of Mosaic Fighters.”

“Mosaic Ancient Culture Research Center.”

Eh?
Lu Yuan’s eyes were slightly stunned when he saw the third sign, “Was Mosa originally the name of a sect?”

Lin Zhiqin paused in his steps when he heard his words, glanced at the sign he was looking at, and returned, “The owner of this club is a member of the Mosa Cult, and the fighting tournaments organized by the association every year are also sponsored by him with his money.”

Lu Yuan nodded and asked while following Lin Zhiqin through the door, “What kind of sect is the Mosa Cult?”

“It seems to be a small sect that has been passed down from the White Mountain era, initially, it was supposed to honor hunting, martial arts, and the like, but in modern times, it has slowly evolved into a love and admiration for combat fighting .
I’m not too sure about the specifics.”

Lin Zhiqin replied casually.

“White Mountain era?!”

Certain information in Lu Yuan’s brain jumped slightly when he heard this word.

He remembered that his old sister, Lu Jing, had said that what their archaeological team was currently digging was an ancient temple from the White Mountain Era.

Walking into the club hall, the first thing that caught his eye was a huge red-eyed male goat pattern.

He had seen this pattern on the competition webpage poster yesterday, and guessed that it might be a Mosaism emblem or something like that.

“Upstairs is the research center and association office, the competition venue is at the bottom, let’s go down.”

Lin Zhiqin greeted Lu Yuan and the two of them entered the elevator.

Lin Zhiqin pressed the button for the second basement floor.

Lu Yuan looked and realized that there were as many as four or five more floors underneath.

“Digging down so much isn’t afraid of collapsing the building .”

He silently spat in his heart.

The elevator descended and arrived at the second basement level a few seconds later.

The elevator doors opened, presenting Lu Yuan with a long aisle.

Long lamps were installed between the cracks on both sides at the top of the aisle, emitting light that illuminated the entire aisle in a cold white color.

Lu Yuan followed Lin Zhiqin forward, the soles of his leather shoes and sneakers rubbing different sounds on the metal floor.

After walking for about a minute or two, he finally exited the aisle.

The view opened up slightly.

It was nothing like the picture Lu Yuan had expected.

As he walked down the aisle, Lu Yuan’s mind fantasized about rusty steel cages, exaggeratedly fierce fighters, and the air filled with the smell of sweat, blood, and gunpowder .
And yet.
What he saw was a brightly lit, spacious hall with the cold air pumped in.

The staff coming and going were uniformly dressed and smiling kindly.

The rooms labeled Enrollment, Registration, Lounge, Locker Rooms . The rooms were clearly labeled.

The people who appeared to be contestants weren’t green-faced, but mostly seemed polite and courteous.

Lu Yuan also saw a female contestant, wearing a fighting tank top and shorts, her body was hot and exaggerated, but her voice was as whiny as a cat’s, making him think that this was not actually the backyard of a fighting competition, but the backyard of an anime convention or something like that.

Everything in front of him appeared to be methodical and well organized.

“Surprising isn’t it.”

Lin Zhiqin glanced at him and laughed, “I also felt surprised when I first came here.

In fact, the tournaments organized by Mosa are much more formal than the vast majority of fighting tournaments that carry weight.”

“It’s much more experienced, isn’t it?”

Lu Yuan couldn’t help but sigh.

He remembered that the information he had checked yesterday showed that the Mosa Fighting Fans Association was in the process of organizing tournaments almost all year round.

Year after year, the people here had probably long been too familiar with the whole process.

“Ha, you could say the same thing.”

Lin Zhiqin took Lu Yuan for a stroll around.

The people here seemed quite familiar with Lin Zhiqin, and quite a few of them would smile and greet him, incidentally eyeing Lu Yuan with an inexplicable look.

This look made Lu Yuan feel slightly uncomfortable.

Because he always felt that the corners of these people’s eyes were slightly drooping when they were looking at him.

Like they were harboring some kind of meaningful smile.

Smiling at what?
Happy?

Or was it because he looked like a high school student?
Lu Yuan’s mood was inexplicably irritated, and he began to lose his good impression of the place at first glance.

It was only then that he began to notice the red-eyed male goat patterns printed all over the hall walls, the ceiling, and various patterns of unknown significance.

“There’s the gaming office.”

Lin Zhiqin suddenly pointed at a small window and spoke, interrupting the irritation that was gradually spreading out in his mind. “If you’re interested you can go buy the last two games and play.

Don’t worry, it’s also legally compliant.

And no one knows the information of the two sides competing in each tournament, it’s completely based on luck.

The single bet limit is also not high, it’s purely a small entertainment program.”

Lu Yuan glanced at it and said, “Coach, school rules prohibit high school students from gambling.”

“Huh.”

Lin Zhiqin laughed and didn’t say anything, just looked at the time and greeted him, “It’s almost time, let’s go into the field.”

The two of them walked in along a small passageway and walked about a dozen meters.

Pushing open a large door in front of them.

A rather huge arena presented itself to Lu Yuan.

The first thing he saw was the red-eyed male goat head statue that represented the Mosaic religion and was found almost everywhere in this place.

A very huge one, it hung high at the top of the arena at an angle similar to an overlook.

At the bottom was the tournament ring.

It was just as huge.

It was a far cry from the kind of fighting ring that Lu Yuan remembered as being no more than five meters long and wide.

Not to mention fighting on it, even competing in a fifty meter sprint on it was probably more than enough.

“Will the contestants start running if they can’t beat them if they compete on this top?”

Lu Yuan thought.

The style of the ring was also different from a normal ring.

It was at least ten meters high above the ground, and there were specially built stairs on both sides to walk up.

The overall color was black, and the fences on all four sides seemed to be pure wood, also filled with a statue of a male goat’s head.

There was a kind of fantastical and bizarre style.

Compared to the martial arts ring, the spectator seats around the ring were far too shabby.

There weren’t even a few seats in total.

There weren’t many spectators on the seats either.

Lu Yuan did a rough count and estimated that there weren’t even thirty.

Lin Zhiqin led him to find a seat almost about to lean against the wall, slightly higher than the ring, and barely able to get a full view of the ring arena.

“Maybe the competition side didn’t intend to leave seats for the spectators at all.”

Lu Yuan always felt awkward sitting in this seat.

It looked like it had been added later, out of place with the design of the entire arena, and the material was rather perfunctory, unlike other aspects of the venue that were as well thought out.

But could a match without spectators even be called a match?

“All the matches conducted during this time are preliminaries, ten matches per day, and ten minutes to go.”

Lin Zhiqin pulled out his cell phone to look at the time and said to Lu Yuan.

Lu Yuan nodded.

He noticed that Lin Zhiqin’s cell phone screensaver was a beautiful young woman, and wondered if it was his wife.

The ten minutes passed in a flash.

Six thirty-five minutes.

Right on time.

The walls on all four sides of the arena suddenly light up.

Only then did Lu Yuan notice that the four walls were equipped with oversized displays.

The display was covered by the graphic patterns on its surface when it was dark, so Lu Yuan didn’t even see it.

On all four displays, the male goat’s head pattern of the Mosaism symbol popped up.

The eyes of these four male goat heads radiated a flashing red light, accompanied by a piece of music played by an indeterminate instrument.

Two teams of naked women covered in oil paint walked up to the ring from each side of the ring and began to dance in the center of the ring, gyrating their bodies wildly.

A red band of lights seemed to light up underneath the ring as well.

From the perspective of Lu Yuan.

The scene in front of him was as if some kind of weird ritual was being performed.

“It’s a tradition of the Mosaic religion to come before the start of every match.

I’ve also seen them bring live animals into the ring for slaughter on some important days.

It’s good to get used to it later.”

Lin Zhiqin explained to Lu Yuan in a low voice.

He then pointed at the individual women dancing in the center of the ring and said rather emotionally.

“Don’t look at them just twisting for a little while every day, but their monthly salary is so high that it’s scary.

But then again, these moves are indeed quite difficult, and the average person can’t put k cough cough learn them.”

“.”
