Chapter 610: The King’s Marriage 1

Chapter 610: The King’s Designated Marriage 1
Inside the King’s study in the Jingyao Palace, a group of people were gathering here to discuss important matters.

“Your Majesty, how much longer do you have to wait?”

Earl Walsh McGee, one of the key supporters of the current king, somewhat anxiously asked his lord sitting on the royal seat.

“Wasn’t it planned before? Marrying your sister far away from the center of power in the kingdom would be good for us, good for her, and more importantly, good for the entire kingdom.”

“I ……” King Rodney XVIII of Aldo’s tone was clearly hesitant as he rubbed this his chin and said softly, “I think this matter needs to be respected by Catherine herself. ”

Earl McGee sighed and said, “Your Majesty, although she is a princess, she is still your subject, and legally speaking, she must obey your orders.”

The Earl looked to the crowd in the chamber and said, “Of course, we all know that Her Highness Catherine is a stickler for the law and she will certainly follow the orders of her sovereign and older brother.”

A murmur of agreement rang out in the chamber.

“Yes, Your Highness, you can simply name her for marriage.”

“Everyone is uneasy if she continues to stay in Jingyao.”

“I hope you make a wise choice soon.”

The most important person in this was the king’s younger brother, Eurico Rodney, who wished too much for his cousin to leave Crystalline Flare quickly.

But there were also voices of opposition.

“Will doing so now irritate her ministry.”

“The old king died only a short time ago, it would be unkind to do so.”

There were only a few voices of opposition.

While the crowd murmured, Rodney XVIII did not respond to any of them.

“Gerd.” A deep voice came from the window.

Gerd was exactly the name Rodney XVIII had been given before he became king, and now there was only one person who could address King Aldo by that name – His Majesty’s father, Prince Jasim Rodney.

While the crowd was discussing the argument, the Prince was just standing by the window looking at the scenery, as if he was indifferent to what they were discussing.

It wasn’t until everyone had expressed their opinions that the Prince made his voice heard and called the King’s name.

“Father, what is your opinion?”

Rodney XVIII inquired with great respect as he looked to the Prince who still stood by the window.

Prince Jasim turned and walked slowly over to the King, Rodney XVIII stood up and tried to give his seat to his father but was pressed back down by the Prince’s shoulder.

“Everyone’s fears are justified, Catherine herself is trustworthy, but her supporters are a destabilizing force, and as long as she is in Crystal Glory, these people will not die and will harbor ill will towards your rule.”

“On the other hand, most of her supporters are still in positions of power, and if they were to be removed one by one, it would cause turmoil in the kingdom’s government.”

“That’s why the only way for her supporters to die and turn their allegiance to you and become a force in your hands is for Catherine to leave Crystal Yew, and to do so far away.”

Rodney XVIII said skeptically, “Are you sure? That they will be loyal to me simply by letting Catherine leave?”

Prince Jasim said with certainty, “Catherine’s departure on your orders will be a signal – she is already loyal to the new king in deed and will carry out the orders assigned to her by the king.”

“It will be clearer and more unmistakable than any verbal oath, especially to her supporters – what else can they do if the object of their allegiance is already completely loyal to the King?”

Seeing that his son was still hesitating, Prince Jasim continued: “Are you worried that there will still be misguided ways to take advantage of the situation?”

Rodney XVIII nodded, “Father, you know, an entire Order is loyal to Catherine.”

The Prince patted the King’s son on the shoulder, conveying his confidence to him.

“I have already contacted a few powerful lords near the king’s domain, they will lead their own armies to come to Jingyao to provide support for you, and if anyone takes the opportunity to cause trouble, then we also take the opportunity to get rid of the clowns that jump out.”

Rodney XVIII looked at him with some surprise, “You contacted the armies of the foreign lords?”

The Prince nodded, “Yes, my son, a king should be effectively loyal to his own army.”

“Oh, that’s true of course, it’s just ……”

“Just what? My boy.”

Rodney XVIII glanced at the people present and said, “Nothing.”

There were some things that it would be better to talk to his father about in private.

He cleared his throat and continued, “In that case, Catherine is a princess after all, my sister, so which family do you think should be chosen for the marriage?”

“The Vernal family?”

“The Bradley family?”

“The Colliford family?”

……

Several large families that were well known in the Kingdom of Aldo were mentioned, all out of town, of course.

But all of these nominations were rejected by the king with a shake of his head.

In the end, the king himself mentioned one – the Greiman family of the Northwest Bay.

“Graiman?”

Prince Jasim chewed on the name the king had mentioned, knowing that his son favored the current owner of the family.

Before the crowd could comment, he said, “I have recently made a point of looking up the family name, and it is true that Gleiman is an ancient family that has existed since the founding of the kingdom, but its current title is merely that of an earl, so wouldn’t it be a little bit of an aggravation for Catherine to have a direct member of the royal family marry into this family?”

Rodney XVIII looked at the Prince and said, “We should look to the future, shouldn’t we? Father, I think I have made it clear for you about the Northwest Gulf, it is a vibrant piece of land.”

The Prince nodded, “Oh, that is the second point of my concern. If, as you believe, there is great potential there, and the addition of a royal family member with great influence transforms that potential into strength, are you sure it won’t threaten us?”

The king replied, “Count Gleiman is a loyal and reliable nobleman, and if he can become an in-law of the royal family, he will undoubtedly become even more reliable. This is very important to the royal family whose influence is now declining.”

Loyal? Reliable?
A meaningful light flashed in Prince Jasim’s eyes.

However, in front of many of his subjects, there were some things he couldn’t say outright.

He patted his son’s shoulder and said, ”Then go and do what you want, you’re the king now, aren’t you? But remember to save yourself for any choice you make, I think with your wisdom you can appreciate that.”

Rodney XVIII nodded, “I will, father.”
