Chapter 198 Returning to the sea 2
Chapter 198 Returning to Sail 2
The dock area of Fort Ness was as busy as ever, and at the berth of the Southern, crew members were going up and down through the diving boards, carrying things to the ship as they were about to set sail and return to the Northwest Bay.
A few merchant representatives were slowly skulking around the neighborhood, taking advantage of these last moments to soak up the commercial atmosphere of this southern metropolis.
The female advisors, Laddie, Lady Sertia, and Lisa, who was temporarily serving as a maid, slowly approached with their suitcases.
Next to the diving board, Captain Quirk was catching up with Quiller Foster.
“O Captain, my father is busy with his official duties, so he had to send me to see you off, please forgive me if I can’t be there in person.”
“No, no, the Marquis has treated us so warmly, I can’t thank you enough.”
Quake knew that the other party was just being polite, how could someone who was a Marquis, a big shot of the Convocation, come to the pier to send him off as a small shrimp.
They took off their hats in greeting when they saw the female counselor’s family arrive.
“Good morning, ma’am. Good morning, Miss Laddie, Miss Lisa.”
Xyla smiled and responded, “Good morning, Mr. Captain. It’s finally time to set sail.”
“Yes, we’ve all had a great time here, but once the return date is set, we all become homeward bound again.”
Off to the side, Quirk greeted them as well, then stared at Lardy and tsked.
“I heard from Mr. Captain about Miss Lardy dressing up as a man and going south with the ship, it’s quite unbelievable, how does such a dainty beauty dress up as a man?”
In the face of the cockney’s verbal histrionics, Lardy simply smiled weakly toward him and stepped onto the diving board.
Queller shrugged his shoulders awkwardly, this Ms. Lardy was relatively “silent” when she was in the Lichtman’s Adventure Group, and he hadn’t said a word to her in the two times he had contacted the group. Such a cold beauty even took the initiative to stay in a place like the Northwest as an advisor, my brother Paul is so lucky.
Quirk instructed a few sailors to help Lardy’s family place their luggage in the cabin, and the three women went to the deck, looking out to sea under the sea breeze.
Lisa suddenly pointed toward the shore, “There are a lot of people coming that way.”
Lardy turned around and saw a fleet of magnificent carriages slowly approaching the Southern side of the ship, with a large number of knights in armor clustered around the fleet.
“It’s people from the Duchy of Eton, I’ll go down and take a look.”
She immediately returned to the shore, and before long the caravan was in sight.
First, a group of guards quickly blocked off the perimeter, then an attendant opened the door of the car, and a tall man came down from inside, with a handsome appearance, a head of brown curly hair, and his whole body exuding an air of splendor.
Quiller Foster’s mouth almost turned into an O-shape in surprise, his face covered with an unbelievable expression.
Then quickly with a look of betrayal, he sadly grabbed Quake’s clothes.
“Captain Quake, do you explain to me, is Alda going to disregard her contract with the Foster family and change her agent in Horn Bay?”
“No, no, no, how could that be? I’ve done no such thing, and the Lords of the Lords have not authorized me to do so.”
Quirk scrambled to explain, but Quiller nudged toward the man who had just gotten out of the car and said, “Then why did His Grace, the Archduke of the Duchy of Eaton, come to see you?”
“What? He’s the Archduke of Eaton? No wonder it’s so imposing.”
Quirk immediately realized what was going on and whispered to Quiller, “Young Master Foster, you are mistaken. They are here to look for Miss Lardy, and his wife is Miss Lardy’s schoolmate or something.”
“His wife? Oh …… you mean Grand Duchess Helen?” The Foster family’s second youngest master was even more incredulous, that silent female counselor had an old relationship with the Grand Duchess of Eaton?
“However, we did meet with the Grand Duchess as well. Remember that night when the wolves howled?”
“I remember, even our house could hear it, disturbing me for a night.”
“That night Miss La Di and the Grand Duchess were walking at night outside of the city when they happened to run into the wolves, or I brought someone to fetch them back. I’d say these two are pretty, but they’ve got a lot of skills, and they killed several wolves before we even got there. Oh, and I hear Ms. Laddie used to be an adventurer, so I’m sure it wasn’t hard to kill a few wolves. That night was a real thrill, the wolves howling all around us, scaring our mouths dry, if we didn’t have fire …… ahem, if we didn’t bring a lot of torches, I’m afraid it would have been fatal.”
“What, such an exciting thing but didn’t call on me? You guys are really not enough friends!”
Quiller complained with a sad face.
The captain was speechless for a while, what was going on in this young master’s head, this kind of thing everyone else was afraid to avoid, right?
While the two were talking, Grand Duke Eaton helped his wife, Grand Duchess Helen, out of the carriage.
Lardy gave them a slight bow of respect.
“Good day, Your Majesty, School Sister.”
The Archduke raised a hand, “Miss Gerard, I remember the last time we met was at Fanny’s birthday party, wasn’t it? There’s no need to be polite between us, even though we haven’t met much, with the relationship between you and Helen, we can be said to be on our own.”
Helen stepped forward and Lardy gave her a hug.
“That’s right, just treat him like an older brother.”
The Archduke said with a slight apology, “I came this time to express my gratitude to you, without you, Fanny, I and my country would be in great trouble. I have been so busy with various meetings in the past few days that I didn’t take the first time to thank you in person, I am truly sorry.”
Lardy shook her head, “The Archduke is too kind, Fanny is like my own sister, it is only right that I do my part.”
The Archduke said a few more words of thanks, then raised his head and spoke loudly in the Aldorian language, “I have another purpose for coming here – to thank you, the warriors from Aldor, for rescuing my family from the jaws of the dire wolves.”
Together, the watching sailors on and off the ship turned their attention to Captain Quirk, waiting for him to make up his mind.
“Shit! What are they all looking at me for?”
Quake instantly panicked, cold sweat breaking out on his forehead.
A Grand Duchess had already made him unable to speak clearly, and then another Grand Duke came unexpectedly, this was the true head of a country, a figure comparable to a king, and from the temperament it seemed that he was not as easy to talk to as the old man of the Foster family.
Lardy whispered to the Archduke:
“Ahem, Your Majesty. They’ve never met anyone of your stature before, so they don’t know how to react, so please forgive them. The one with the long beard over there is Captain Quirk, please follow me.”
The Archduke smiled and nodded, “Haha, is that so, I see, let’s go over there.”
He and his wife followed Lardy towards Quirk.
Helen took her husband by the arm and gave him a firm pinch on the arm, hiding her face with her fan and whispering, “Be easy!”
The Archduke gave a bitter smile, “Got it, dear.”
