Chapter 131: Brain Worms

Chapter 131 – Brain Worm
After Duke Ferdinand fainted due to asphyxiation, Barnett let go of his hand around the Duke’s neck.

He let out a sigh of relief, the strength this Ferdinand just erupted was really strong, fortunately the gain spell he had applied on his body beforehand had not dissipated yet.

After confirming that the guards outside did not notice any movement in the bedroom, he began his next move.

The sorcerer’s lips opened and closed quickly, and he whispered the spell.

After reciting it a few times, he gradually felt a strange sensation begin to arise in his stomach.

The strange sensation became stronger and stronger and slowly turned into a feeling of nausea.

He suddenly covered his mouth and tried his best not to make a sound.

“Vomit!” He finally couldn’t help but vomit, and a large pile of filth landed on the ground.

The wizard looked at his vomited filth and something in it almost made him vomit again.

The scene in front of him was visually challenging, the vomit contained a constantly writhing creature with a thin striped body, white in color, and it was indistinguishable which was the head and which was the tail.

The bizarre creature was constantly twisting and struggling, as if exposure to the air was causing it pain.

A certain spirit manipulation master of the Secret Society had recently experimented with a spell that could quickly control people’s minds, a spell that changed the shortcomings of previous spirit-based spells in terms of long preparation time, slow results, and uncertain results, and had an extremely rapid effect, being able to completely control the mind of the subject of the spell in a short period of time, and turn it into a slave that would bow down to its will.

However, there is still a flaw, the spell must be cast with some kind of specially bred parasite as a medium, this kind of artificially bred parasite is called “brain worm” by the inventor of the spell, as the literal meaning, it will be drilled into the recipient’s skull, as a medium of casting spells on the recipient’s brain to exert stimulation.

The brainworm must absorb nutrients from the recipient’s head in order to survive and paralyze the recipient’s sense of pain, and because of this, the recipient becomes increasingly slow, sluggish, and numb, and is largely unable to survive for long.

Brainworms cannot survive in the external environment for long, and can survive in special liquids, or temporarily in the human intestines, in addition to the subject’s brain.

Barnett chose to temporarily store the brainworm in his own stomach in order to conceal it from the guards’ search and bring it into the Duke’s castle.

This was an extremely challenging thing to do, but for the great cause of the Secret Society, the highly aware Barnett eventually swallowed the worm in one gulp while holding back his nausea.

Of course, wizards had their own way of keeping brain worms from moving around in their stomachs and burrowing inside their skulls.

Barnett knew that this kind of spell must have carried out a large number of “living body” experiments to achieve such progress, but he did not care how many “living body” consumed, to contribute to the progress of magic is their honor.

The wizard tore off a piece of cloth in the bedroom, picked up the strange creature, which was writhing, and placed it over Duke Ferdinand’s mouth.

The brain worm sensed the Duke’s faint snorting, and it suddenly stopped wriggling and stuck one end of its body into the Duke’s mouth with great speed, and in less than a second, its entire body was inside.

Losing the sorcerer’s suppression, the brain worm quickly burrowed towards Duke Ferdinand’s brain, unlike those ordinary brain parasites, its speed was extremely fast.

After a moment’s effort, the Duke suddenly opened his eyes, which revealed an extremely bizarre look.

Barnett knew, this is the brain worm has “in place”.

His hands gestured a strange posture, his mouth recited words.

“Well ……,” the Duke held his head in his hands as if he had a headache, and his body slid down from the chair to the floor.

Barnett pointed toward him and whispered, “Silence!”

The Duke immediately closed his mouth, but you could tell that a look of resentment and anger surfaced on his face.

The Duke detected the abnormalities in his body, his headache was incomparable not to mention that he subconsciously obeyed the assassin’s order just now, and he couldn’t help but be inwardly horrified at what this guy had done to him.

He struggled to fight against another inexplicable stream of consciousness in his mind, covering his head and shaking it constantly.

But as the strange man continued to spit out evil and incomparable language from his mouth, his resistance grew weaker and weaker.

The Duke slowly quieted down and sat paralyzed on the ground with his head down.

Barnett was thankful that he hadn’t made too much noise with his struggles just now, or else it would have been bad to alert the guards outside. He turned to the Duke’s front and grabbed his hair and lifted it upwards, so that Ferdinand’s eyes were facing him, which were at that moment slack-eyed and dull.

He tried to whisper, “Duke Ferdinand?”

A sudden gleam appeared in those dull, lifeless eyes.

“You …… you ……”

The Duke, with a harangue at the corner of his mouth, pointed a trembling finger at Barnett.

The sorcerer looked cold and said to the duke seriously, “I think you should kneel down towards me and address me as ‘master’.”

This time Ferdinand obeyed, and he knelt honestly toward de de Barnett, saying respectfully, “Master.”

The wizard nodded in satisfaction.

“Let me teach you something.”

……

Duke Ferdinand and Barnett returned to the castle hall together, one after the other.

The Duke of Kent, who had already waited impatiently, immediately rose to his feet and turned his inquiring eyes on Barnett.

The wizard nodded and gave him a confirming look.

Earl Kent let out a huge sigh of relief, followed by a wave of ecstasy welling up inside.

Before Barnett and the Duke returned, he had been prepared to be stabbed into a pile of rotten meat by the guards who rushed into the hall, and that was undoubtedly what he faced once the sorcerer failed.

Now that worry was gone, their plan had worked.

He glanced at Duke Ferdinand, who seemed no different than usual.

Barnett leaned close to him and whispered, “So as not to arouse suspicion, he, and you as well, must behave in all mannerisms before outsiders as before.”

The three men resumed their seats, and Duke Ferdinand spoke up, “Mr. Barnett’s medical skills are truly masterful.”

He turned to the Earl of Kent, “Maltz, you’ve done a great job this time, I’ll reward you heavily.”

Earl Kent put on a happy face for his lord and said, “It is my duty to share your worries, Lord Duke.”

A few minutes later, the wizard and Maltz Kent walked out of the dukedom.

“Mr. Barnett, you are truly amazing.”

During the conversation just now, he clearly felt that the Duke had a hidden awe for the sorcerer, which was not present before they entered the bedroom.

The sorcerer tilted his head, “Hmph! No amount of power in the secular world can resist the power of magic, a thousand years ago the clergyman of the Holy See was able to make the powerful and noble bow down by compelling people with a single tongue, and it is even easier for us mages to do this through magic.”

Earl Kent couldn’t help but be secretly glad that he was now on the higher level of the group.

“Teacher, what should we do next?”

“I have sought out a great boost for us at sea, it’s their turn to make their appearance next.”

“What kind of boost? Is it pirates?”

“Don’t be in a hurry, I’ll tell you the plan in detail when we get back to your castle.”
