276. Chapter 271: The Eerie Eagle Point Village

Chapter 271 – The Eerie Eagle Cape Village
“I’m back!”

Hajna shouted as she pushed open the door to her store.

She didn’t have a key with her, of course. But they didn’t even need keys in a small village like theirs.

The doors to every house were left open on weekdays. Not to mention, many families here do a little business of their own …… For example, Hajna s father is the best blacksmith in the village.

Perhaps Hajna inherited her strange powers from this. Because of this, she was also considered a slightly wealthier family in the village. That’s why her family was able to support her traveling to Bagpipe Town for school instead of staying in the village and marrying early.

Nowadays, it was also because of the cold winter that the doors were closed at noon.

Hajna remembered that when she was doing her homework, her neighbor’s hunter grandfather would often come in without saying hello and take her father away to go fishing.

“Sister!”

A tender and excited voice came from inside the house, “Mom, Sister is back!”

It was a boy who looked twelve or thirteen years old.

“Jack!”

Hajna was delighted, casually placing her bags on the floor, she knelt down and hugged the boy.

She let go of the hug and somewhat nostalgically touched her brother’s head, “You’ve grown up quite a bit ……”

In Hajna’s memory, Jack was still the little kid who sniffled and ran around after himself. But now he was also considered a “teenager”.

His curly brown hair was fluffy, and his pupils were as warm as amber. His appearance was about seventy to eighty percent similar to Hajna. Even though his skin was rough from village life, and the tip of his nose and cheeks were still a bit red, he could still be called handsome.

“Growing up so …… big, do you have a favorite?”

Watching Jack become shy for a moment, Hajna snickered and followed up, “Is it a classmate?”

“I stopped going to school a long time ago.”

Jack, however, just touched his head and said with some embarrassment, “I really can’t remember those things …… so I didn’t continue studying after finishing elementary school.

“However, dad is already teaching me to build! Dad said that I’m already halfway out of the class …… When I learn it thoroughly after that, I’ll build a good armor and weapon for you, sister!”

Jack said excitedly.

Hajna just laughed and didn’t comment.

–Because nowadays, she already knew that not all the monitors could be configured with armor. And the armor those knights possessed came from the bestowal of Her Majesty. The weapons were even the same – the weapons she could use were all equipment given from above.

Only this kind of “regular authorized equipment” could maximize the power of the Way of Might. Rather than asking for the weapon itself, it was more important to ask for the special meaning attached to it.

“Where’s Dad?”

Looking at the stove that had been out for who knows how long and appeared to be cold, Hajna was a bit puzzled, “Gone fishing?”

“Too much wine last night, lying down.”

Jack rolled his eyes and said casually, “I can do the usual work anyway.”

Hajna shook her head helplessly, “Stinky old man ……”

With that, she gave her brother the matching sword at her waist, “Take care of that for me, Jack?”

The elven short sword she had acquired during her first meeting with Ivars had now been with her for a few months. Which of course had included head on confrontations with prisoners, clashing sword to sword, or shattering spells with the sword.

Even with her careful care, it was more or less slightly damaged. Although the Inspectorate also offered free maintenance of her equipment, Hajna planned to bring them home and let her father take care of them.

This was partly a matter of trust in her father’s craftsmanship.

On the other hand, it was also to preserve as much “evidence of her hard work” as possible – she intentionally planned to leave them behind, to come back and hint to her family that “I’m good now, I’ve got a lot of combat missions, and a lot of people out there depend on me” and things like that. I’m very good now, I’m doing a lot of fighting, and a lot of people out there are relying on me,” and so on.

When she was a child, she was always running around the village. She was told by the adults that she was too restless to be successful.

At that time, she thought that if she could become a powerful person in the future, she would come back to show everyone.

Bringing back a brand new weapon was not considered an honor for a warrior, a swordsman. Because it meant that he hadn’t been involved in a fierce battle.

The scars were proof of honor. But Hajna was more or less a girl, and she still cared about her image – even though she didn’t use those cosmetics smuggled from Star Antimony on weekdays, she didn’t intentionally leave scars.

Though part of the reason she couldn’t afford it …… but even if she couldn’t, she could actually borrow it. Her housemates were still pretty friendly to her.

The real reason Hajna didn’t use it was because she couldn’t trust those messy alchemy products.

This girl from a small countryside was always wary of things she couldn’t understand.

–How could something as messy as toadstools, tree bark, beer, sesame seeds, and charcoal put together and boiled together become a healing salve?

Hajna was puzzled. So always be in awe.

Jack drew Hajna’s short sword and looked into the light.

He gave Hajna a somewhat disgusted look, “Sis, are you usually not taking care of it?”

“Nonsense.”

Hajna not lightly slapped him on the back of the head, “I’ve already taken care of myself – it’s sis who’s busy oh.”

Jack thought and moved his lips, but eventually swallowed his words.

“Hajna?”

Just then, a woman’s surprised voice came from inside the house.

“Mom!” Hajna immediately greeted her and hugged her mom hard. She was like a cat, shrinking into her mom’s arms with her eyes closed. Greedily, she breathed in the familiar warm scent.

It took a while before she lifted her head.

Looking at her mom, Hajna couldn’t help but sigh, “Mom you really haven’t aged at all ……”

It’s still the country life that nurtures people!
“Because we have good air and good water here.”

Hajna’s mom laughed lightly, casually said, “This time back …… still go?”

She looked at Hajna with some anticipation.

In that moment, Hajna’s heart was slightly shaken.

But after a moment of silence, she still revealed a smile, ”There’s still a way to go.

“And after that, there might not be so many vacations …… for the next few years, it might not be good to come back again.”

As her words fell, her dim yellow pupils changed back to azure at some point.

Hajna’s mom and brother, on the other hand, looked like they didn’t notice the abnormality at all, and even Hajna herself didn’t notice what was wrong.

“This way ……”

Hajna’s mom sighed.

And just then, Hajna suddenly thought of something, “Oh yeah, mom – do you remember Grandpa Jacob?”

“What?”

“I found Grandpa Jacob’s grandson. He was my schoolmate, and now he’s been adopted by the Founders family ……”

Hajna said happily, “And Mr. Sherlock, the famous detective! They’re coming to visit Eagle Point Village too!”

“So good!”

Jack instantly became excited, “Is it that Mr. Sherlock who’s always in the newspaper!”

Even though the village of Eagle Point was very isolated, the Cow and Harbor newspaper still managed to get delivered on a regular basis – the only problem was that they were basically no longer fresh by the time they were delivered.

There were even times when they were delivered at opposite times – such as when a backward-looking paper was delivered first, then one from a few days earlier, then another from a few days later, and then one that was both more forward and more backward than that at the same time.

Without looking at the dates on the papers, it’s impossible to tell what order they came in.

“That’s him!”

Hajna said braggadociously, “And the schoolmate who came along is that well-known Ivars Moriarty oh!”

“Ohhh! I’ve read about him too – he defeated the mighty Black Wizard with his sister!”

“Not the black wizard, that one is called the Demon Scholar! And that’s been in the news for a long time now, the most recent is ……”

Hajna laughed and sighed, carefully explaining to Jack his common sense error.

But just then, Hajna’s mom was asking with a frown and some concern, “Why don’t you come back with them? When will they arrive?”

“Before tonight, I think?”

Hajna wasn’t quite sure.

She waved her hand, unconcerned, “They’re coming on griffins, not the same type as me who needs to ride the train all night.”

She deliberately hid the fact that she was about to obtain a griffin as well.

On the one hand, she wasn’t sure that she would be able to obtain a griffin and was worried that she would be ridiculed if she said it but didn’t follow through; on the other hand, she wanted to surprise her acquaintances.

“Then you’ll have to go pick them up to do that.”

Hajna’s mom said in an almost commanding tone, “Or they’ll get lost.”

And Hajna slouched a bit, not quite willingly, “Huh? There’s no need …… the village is so easy to find …… I’ve already told them, just go south from the town of Bagpipes …… over a mountain won’t you see it. ”

“Behave, you have to pick them up-“

Her mom said more forcefully, “What if the guests come late and are attacked by ghosts at night?”

“Hiya, they’re all very strong la.”

Hajna was unimpressed, “There are powerful priests among the guests. Even if the ghosts do come, we can ask them to help us exorcise the demons. ……”

She thought of the picture of Ivars defeating the demon with his holy sword earlier.

Even though she hadn’t witnessed it with her own eyes, she had still heard about the miracle of that day.

With that kind of power, any kind of apparition could be easily crushed.

“You’d better go wait outside and come back when you’ve received the man.”

Despite the fact that Hajna gave thoughtful and detailed explanations and and excuses for every claim her mom made. But her mom ultimately chose to refuse to communicate and simply threw the dumbfounded Hajna out the door.

“Eh? Mom? It’s cold eh, at least give me a jacket-“

Hajna’s mournful cry rang out in the chilly winds of late December.

Update over!
