192. Chapter 189: Still a Little Heartless

Chapter 189: A Little Heart

What would happen if Ivars did nothing?

All of today’s ministers, knights, and officers, those loyal to the Queen would all be dead in a year’s time. The remaining ones would be more than half dead or wounded in the chaos and infighting. Eventually, after Isabel’s return, that last part will be imprisoned or executed.

The people will experience four major wars over the next three years.

The nationwide food shortage caused by the coming of the Shadow Kingdom will lead to famine and great chaos …… and then the famine will spread to neighboring countries.

And after the descent of the Fallen Heaven Division, six civil wars would be initiated within Star Antimony. The largest number of times split directly in place into six pieces, eventually turning back into three. Star Antimony and Avalon alone would see their populations shrink to less than a third after three years.

Looking at the Glass Islands alone, the impact may feel minor. the 1.0 and 4.0 Glass Islands are just a bit more sparsely populated. However, the rural areas have almost turned into ghost towns, with only a few families in a village, and they continue to become fewer and fewer. Civilized areas continue to retreat, with townships gathering into towns and towns gathering back into cities, while vast amounts of land are reduced to rubble.

The newborn Camelot feels hopeful, but there are so few talented people that even the ministers can’t hold full office. The council consists of only about thirty men and women, half of whom are not Avalonians but elves who took part in the Shadowspire’s crusade.

And Star Antimony was even better. Originally, they were already infighting, but after being briefly controlled by the Shadow Heavens Division, the rest of them simply stopped pretending. All sorts of armed warlords cut off …… advanced technology, weapons, and spells are all used to fight their own people.

Some places had several towns in a row transformed into undead, and some towns were directly bombed into broken walls. Some places were haunted by curses and turned into inaccessible ghost towns.

Counting these two countries alone, that was at least tens of millions of lives. Just thinking about this number made Ivars feel his heart sink.

–Do you want to stand by and exchange these people for a “hope”?

What a joke.

Just thinking about it made Ivars angry.

Not righteous anger based on a sense of morality, but anger at the fact that he actually subconsciously had the weakness of fear –

I’m actually afraid? Even though I had a system in my body that knew the future, I was still so afraid that I thought, “Why don’t we just let it go”?

–How is that possible?

–It’s unforgivable.

Changing all of this was immensely difficult. Without being able to just push back and build decaying Avalon into Camelot, it would be difficult for Ivas to just take a step forward.

If the Fallen Divisions were not allowed to massacre the royal family, command indiscriminately, and attack the Star Antimony people on all sides to attack all the neighboring countries, the Star Antimony without division would also be a strong enemy that would be difficult to fight against.

But even so, could he just let go and let it all happen?
–Listen and let it happen. Wait for the plot to unfold as he knew it would, and then swoop in at every key point to expend the least amount of effort for the greatest gain.

Profit from disaster, gather people in despair, become a hero – and no one knows that you could have changed all of this so that they never happened in the first place.

Yes, that’s what protagonists in fiction do. There’s no risk, there’s just benefit. Because these disasters had nothing to do with the “protagonist” in the first place, so why shouldn’t I profit from them? And if one of these points is changed, a future chain reaction could result in the loss of the prophetic advantage.

Make sure everything is under control. Guarantee a controlled future. Guaranteed superiority, as in omniscience.

…… Ivars wondered if that was a mistake.

But he always felt as if there was a fire in his heart.

Ever since he changed history and saved Yulia, that fire had burned. He once thought that the name of that fire was called ambition,……, but now he thought that it might be “pride”.

–Even if he changed everything, even if he didn’t rely on the Seer’s power. He was just as good.

If that was the case, why didn’t he change it from the very beginning?
Let Avalon never become that Camelot with nothing but hope. Let the Fallen Divisions not start a world war on all sides …… Let the civilians, who are powerless to decide their own future, live as long as possible.

At least as many as will live in the future he foresees. That way his arrival would be meaningful ……

“-Don’t think too much.”

The Great Guardian suddenly reached out his hand and covered the top of Ivas’ head, whispering softly.

Aiwas was slightly startled and looked up at the Great Guardian.

He did not look down at Aiwas. It was just slightly bowed, gazing at the floor. At the same time, he calmly said, “Don’t stress too much – as long as we’re still alive, it’s not your turn to worry about all this.

“You are the future of Avalon, but only the future. The present will be handled by the present.”

His voice was a steady mellow, giving a sense of solid security.

And the old queen just smiled gently, “Yeah, little Aiwas …… you’re knocking through your wheelchair.”

The three fingers of Aiwas’s right hand that was unconsciously and rapidly knocking on the wheelchair suddenly stopped.

–Gotta find a way to change this habit.

Every time Ivars fell into deep thought, or was anxious, his right hand couldn’t help but want to move something. This was a habit left over from the games he played as a child – when he was nervous, he would unconsciously tap the mouse and perform some meaningless and ineffective operations.

For example, constantly cutting the screen, for example, shaking back and forth in place, for example, repeatedly opening the mirror.

In the words of Ivars’ roommate, he is “a bit cheap”. “I don’t know what you’re worried about,” the Grand Guardian said calmly, “but I don’t think Her Majesty chose to tell you this to ask for your help. Even if you did want to do something about it, you could have told us.”

“Dad is strong!”

David, who was on the side, said with great certainty.

“We are different today than we were four hundred years ago. We are not strong …… or even called weak.”

Queen Sophia, however, just smiled faintly and said frankly, “It’s considered a good thing to realize this matter earlier. Those knights of the older generation grew up listening to the stories of the Knights of the Round Table and developed a habit of pride. Even though they later focused on competing for power and money, they still have the pride of being a knight inside.

“But they don’t understand Avalon at all. Or perhaps they don’t want to understand.

“But whether it’s you or Sherlock, the young people of your generation are different. Avalon will have to be given to you after all ……”

Speaking here, the old woman who was obviously lying on the bed due to fatigue but still gave off a sense of vigor was revealing a wry smile, “I think Sherlock must still be alive, right?”

“Yes.”

Ivars responded, “This is the plan we discussed, to fish out those people by faking their deaths …… whether it’s him or me, that’s what we did.”

“You know what? I was pretty freaked out.”

Her Majesty tsked in spite of her image, “I thought, bad …… According to Sherlock’s character, he could indeed do something like this – to be in danger, or to be retaliated against, in order to investigate. It was because he did have the potential to be retaliated against and assassinated that I thought for a moment that his death was real.”

“And then, how did you guess that he was faking his death?”

Aywas asked suspiciously.

Queen Sofia laughed out, “No, I’m not that smart …… This is what Yanis told me. She told me, ‘Don’t be in a hurry to be sad, things might still turn around’. I understood what she meant then.”

Janice?
Ivas was stunned for a moment, then reacted – she should have seen Sherlock and herself at the Bishop’s house through the paintings!

What kind of camera is this becoming a sperm ……

But Janice obviously wanted to help Ewas keep it a secret. Otherwise the Queen must have already known that she hadn’t been captured by Aleister at all …… because he had arrived at the Bishop’s house on the first day of his disappearance, but neither Her Majesty nor the Great Guardian apparently knew anything about it.

“Is there something else you need, Ewas?”

The Queen asked affectionately, “Next, we’re going to talk about some grown-up things …… Can you and David go out for a while?

“Oh, by the way …… that Isabel child may have been irritated. If you have time, why don’t you go comfort her?”

“As you wish, Your Majesty.”

Ivars responded.

He did worry a bit about Isabel as well, and was worried about how to mention this to Her Majesty.

According to his understanding of Isabel, it wasn’t that she had let go of the pressure of the curse. Rather, she was trying hard to make herself forget.

Although the Queen was not worried about this at all, knowing that the curse was over …… yet Isabel did not know this. And it was true that it was not appropriate for her to know – if Isabel knew that the curse was due to the foreigners wanting to put her on the throne, I’m afraid that her mental pressure would be even greater.

After asking the Queen where Isabel was, Ivars pulled David and was pushed by Lily out of the Queen’s chambers.

The first thing he did after going out was to first grab David in a secluded and uninhabited place.

Ivars warned in a low voice, “Don’t talk to your sister Isabel about curses and rituals …… Be careful what you say, understand?”

“I understand. I can’t talk or comfort, so I’ll leave it at that, Mr. Ewers.”

David nodded seriously and schemed in a low voice, “When the time comes, just say …… what you say and I’ll nod.”

— Indeed, you can’t go wrong if you don’t say anything.

Ivars hissed.

You can understand this without a teacher?
The boy, it seems, is not quite the same as the Great Guardian character ……

However, Aiwas seemed to vaguely feel …… as if David wanted to set him and Isabel up?
After a little thought, Ivars understood.

Then he got a little taut.

–Oh, you mean that if I get together with Princess Isabel, Ms. Aleister will be able to make way for you, right?

This kid doesn’t seem to have as little heart as he shows ……

After finishing a chapter, I realized that the shoveler had gone out, so I’ll order takeout myself and eat it after I finish writing the second chapter (aggravated)

(End of chapter)
