Chapter 79: The Honest Soul

Chapter 79 The Honest Soul

“The soul fragment should mean that white shadow. But what is spirit ester? Is my left hand so powerful? And what’s the deal with preserving soul fragments?”

One question after another sprang up.

Saul realized that there was just too much knowledge that he hadn’t been exposed to. He relied on his diary to montage a transformation program, but would only use it without understanding the principles.

This led to his limited understanding of his left hand as well.

“Soul fragment, it wouldn’t be a fragment of Sid’s soul, would it? What’s the use of it? It can’t really play cards.”

“And that black shadow. Diary, was that black shadow absorbed by you?”

Saul looked at the diary and had a bit of a headache, this diary never listened.

Of course, it could also be because the diary had no thoughts at all, and all behaviors were due to it having a set of established guidelines.

At that moment, the diary in front of him suddenly began to clatter backward, the thickness of the remaining pages decreasing rapidly.

“Wait!” Sol immediately tensed.

What’s going on here? Why is it suddenly flipping backward?

Turning to the back, would the previous pages still work?

Don’t tell him now, there’s a limit to the number of diary warnings.

The diary didn’t slow down because of Saul’s nervousness; it quickly turned to the last page.

And the last page of the diary was a black piece of paper.

The black paper didn’t have any patterns, and it also looked a bit rougher than the rest of the diary’s paper. The edges were not quite regular, like a square of paper that someone had casually torn off and carefully glued to the end of the diary.

Just as Saul looked down to see this black paper that had suddenly appeared, a white vapor suddenly sprang out of his left hand and crashed headfirst into the black paper.

Afterward, a line of white, thickly inked, clumps of squished together text surfaced on top of the black paper.

Where is this place? Why is it so dark?

This clump of words was definitely not the words of a diary.

Who? Who’s hiding inside the diary?

Is it the original owner of the diary? Or is it …… the original Saul?

Saul’s breathing was briefly messed up for a moment.

“No, the vapors just drilled through my left hand …… You’re Sid?”

[I am Cid. And who are you and how do you know my name?”]

Oh my god, this diary has been upgraded again?

That’s not right either, it should be that Saul killed Cid’s grudge and got the soul fragment that activated the diary’s new function.

Seeing that this soul was able to answer questions, Saul’s eyes rolled and opened his mouth to ask him, “Cid, do you remember how you died?”

[I was killed by Saul with a disposable sorcery prop. But before that, I had no choice but to break the elf sculpture in order to escape from being surrounded, causing my spirit body to be extremely active and unable to cast spells, before I was successfully sneaked in. I’m actually much more powerful than Saul. And who are you? How do you know I’m dead?]

“It really seems to be Cid.” Saul guessed that it was the diary’s ability to communicate with the soul.

“I’m afraid this Death Witch Diary is much more powerful than I originally thought!”

Saul originally thought that the diary was only able to foretell death. Now it seemed. The diary had deep attainments in death, souls, and matter.

I really don’t know what kind of person created this death wizard diary.

The two questions that Saul had just asked, Sid’s soul all answered truthfully.

This gave Saul some speculation about the function of the diary.

Was it the soul’s inability to lie?
No, it should still be the ability of the diary itself.

If the spirits were honest, where in the world would all the scary ghost stories come from?
“Sid ……” Saul broke into a grin, sitting down and shaking his legs in triumph.

No, can’t shake it, better put it down.

“How did you know about the Death Witch diary?”

The diary was Saul’s biggest gold finger at the moment, and he had to make sure that no one else knew of its existence.

[That death wizard diary was passed down from our family’s ancestors, my grandfather used to hold that book without a single word and read it when he wasn’t crazy].

In Cid’s introduction, his grandfather had been a very powerful first level sorcerer. Because he majored in the dark element, he was particularly interested in the death sorcerer’s diary that had been passed down in his family, and he decided that it must have told some sort of mystical knowledge about death. And that knowledge was enough to make an ordinary sorcerer advance to a level that would otherwise be difficult to reach.

However, after reading it for many years, from black hair to gray hair, Sid’s grandfather still did not come up with any results, and finally drove himself crazy.

In the years of his grandfather’s madness, Sid’s father lost a lot of money because of poor management, and finally had to sell all of the family’s things. Among them was the diary of the death wizard, and by chance he sold it to a third level apprentice from the Golsa Wizard Tower.

That third-level apprentice took many books related to sorcery from Sid’s family, and casually said that he would submit them to the library in exchange for credits.

And just three days after the third-level apprentice left, Grandfather suddenly came to his senses, and as soon as he did, he went in search of his death wizard’s journal.

Upon learning that the diary had been sold, Grandfather lost his temper and nearly beat his father to death on the spot, but luckily Cid and his mother stopped him in front.

Afterward, Grandfather Sid locked himself in his original laboratory for three days and nights without food or water.

When he came out, it was with his hands raised high in the air, smiling up at the sky.

Because of his disheveled hair and messy body, everyone thought he had gone crazy again.

But who knew that while shouting “I know, I know”, he suddenly killed Sid’s mother and father.

Not only that, he also killed all the other people who came, and the whole manor turned into a bloody hell.

After killing all the people in the manor, Grandfather ran out barefoot and disappeared.

At the age of fifteen, Sid crouched beside his parents, clutching his knees and shivering. A pair of pants was turgid and smelly, and the murderous grandfather had disappeared, and he didn’t dare move a muscle.

Afraid that his grandfather would realize he was still alive.

After waiting for a long time and not hearing that crazy laughter, Sid fell on his butt on the ground, both legs numb and painful, as if he had fallen into a frying pan.

But when he got up with fear and trembling, he looked up again and saw his grandfather coming back, carrying the head of his sister who had gone out to marry in his hand.

Grandfather threw his sister’s head at Sid’s feet, and Sid’s legs went limp and he collapsed into the pile of corpses once again.

Grandfather walked over to Sid and slowly crouched down, but did not strike at him.

His expression became as kind as when Sid was a child, wearing a smile that teased his grandson.

“Little Cid, you’re a first level apprentice now? Quite good.”

Cid looked at his grandfather, his whole body trembling.

He couldn’t understand why his grandfather, who had just killed all of his family members, could still speak to him with a smile on his face.

Grandfather didn’t mind Sid’s fear, but grabbed Sid’s cold corpse-like hand, “Now grandfather has a chance to become a great official wizard for you, do you want it?”

Cid’s head shook like a tambourine.

“Huh?” Grandfather glared his eyes out, his murderous aura raging.

Sid immediately turned into an up and down nod.

And so Cid was sent by his grandfather to the Golsa Wizard Tower to become an apprentice wizard who majored in the water attribute.

Saul knew almost everything that happened afterward.

When he spoke about it, the white letters on the black paper had changed from the original rich milky white color to a very light pale white color.

Each word was also no longer rounded, but had become sharp and thin.

[Grandfather told me before sending me to the carriage that he had discovered that diaries are extremely unique existences. Anyone who is related to it in this world cannot be its owner. Even if you get it, you can only see a hardback book with no words. And the diary only appears after the death of the original owner. But the person who killed the original owner with his own hands will not be recognized by the diary. Who are you? Why do you still know about the diary?]

“Why is there such a complicated setting? You can’t have a relative alive, and you can’t kill the diary’s owner with your own hands.”

“This Death Witch diary, does it even talk about karma?”

Saul was a bit puzzled, but finally had a complete understanding of the reason why Sid had targeted him, as well as the reason for the several lame traps.

It was actually the rules of the diary that were binding Cid!

[I don’t know, it was all told to me by my grandfather. Who are you? What do you mean by karma?

Saul completely ignored Cid’s question, “No, didn’t you say that you had to have no karmic presence to get the diary? Don’t you have a grandfather?”

[Grandfather died before I left, but I left in such a hurry that I didn’t get to attend his funeral. Who are you? Why do I have to keep answering your questions?”]

Syd’s writing had become so light as gray that it was difficult to recognize it.

“Your grandfather died?” Saul narrowed his eyes and leaned down, carefully recognizing the writing on the black paper, and suddenly asked with a soft laugh, “Where is your grandfather …… buried?”
