Chapter 78: I Don’t Usually Smile

Chapter 78: I Don’t Usually Laugh

Saul was in a bit of a trance, he always felt like he was flying.

Teeth? It seemed like he was biting down on his lower teeth, or maybe he was just biting the air.

Hands? Seem to be gripping the handrail, or maybe they’re flailing in the air or doing a seaweed dance.

Sol disliked the feeling of being out of control – as cool as it was.

It reminded him of the day he’d finished his transformation, when the world had turned into a soap bubble and there was nothing he could do about it.

“I have to come to my senses.” Saul thought in a daze.

He began to meditate.

The diagram of the man-monster walking came to his mind.

Points, lines, diagrams, and surfaces …… a little bit all unfolded.

With the appearance of the monster at the bottom, sanity returned and thinking became clear.

Then fear descends.

Opening his eyes, Saul realized that a shadowy figure was crawling on top of him!
The shadowy figure climbed on Sol with its arms and legs, its feet on Sol’s knees, one hand on Sol’s shoulder, and one hand grasping vainly in the air.

The part of his head was also a shadowy figure, with no visible features, but his face kept swaying from side to side, as if he was searching for something.

It was strange that he was clearly right on top of Saul, but it was as if he couldn’t see Saul.

His hands waved in the air, but they could only pass feebly through Saul’s torso, the chair behind him, touching no substance.

Vaguely, it was as if Saul heard an angry roar from within his memories.

It was Sid’s voice.

Suddenly, the head of the shadowy figure seemed to realize something and turned violently, aiming at Saul’s face.

The shadows were like gravel blown away by the wind, gradually revealing Cid’s hideous face beneath.

One of his eyes was slowly coming into focus, and in the next second, he ripped his mouth open.

“Found you.”

As he watched the hideous-to-twisted face approach, Saul remained unable to control his body.

He could only struggle to maintain his composure as he raised his eyes to meet those eyes with pupils so small that they were nearly invisible.

Getting closer and closer, Sid tore out a hideous smile a little bit, clearly a spirit body, but as if he was exhaling the icy cold dead air from hell.

Stimulated to blink by the cold breath exhaled on his face, Saul was not as scared as he thought he was.

He had killed Cid.

He would be able to kill Cid’s grudge again!

The heads of the one man and the grudge spirit were almost pressed together in one place ……

Thor’s forehead began to sting as he was about to cast Strike Necromancy even as he spared his mental body from shock.

However, in a split second, an indistinguishable-colored arc of electricity violently rose up from Saul’s body, immediately transforming into a giant net that enveloped the entirety of Cid’s grudge spirit.

As soon as that electric net touched Sid’s spirit body, Sid’s face immediately twisted as he opened his mouth wide, revealing a dark and void mouth behind his teeth.

Cid was wailing.

But the wailing did not reach Saul’s ears.

Cid leaned his upper body back, trying to move away.

But again, it was as if his arms and legs were firmly glued to Saul, and he couldn’t get away.

Stimulated by the power grid, Sid’s spirit body became more and more illusory, rippling in bursts, ready to disappear at any moment.

At the last moment, he simply gave up on escaping and rushed towards Saul once again, a mouth almost splitting to the back of his head, his dark mouth cavity so huge that it could swallow Saul’s entire face ……

In a flash of lightning, another silver-white grid was inspired from within Saul’s body, directly covering Sid’s face, completely intercepting Sid’s attack.

The electric grid contracted, and Sid’s already illusory spirit body began to emit strands of green smoke.

The silver-white electric grid sank into Sid’s spiritual body little by little, like squeezing a balloon that was reaching its limit.

Finally ……

“Bang!”

Syd’s resentful spirit couldn’t withstand the pressure and completely exploded.

Sol automatically brainstormed the sound of the explosion, while his entire body once again felt a sense of relief.

And just at the moment when Syd’s resentful spirit exploded, he saw in a trance as if a white shadow and a black shadow ran out from within Syd’s exploded spirit.

The white shadow burrowed into Sol’s left hand.

The black shadow, on the other hand, was fleeing outward, but was pulled towards Saul’s left shoulder by an extremely strong pull.

If Saul could move, he was afraid that he would have to immediately turn his head and track the black shadow.

What was on his left shoulder?
A diary?

In the next moment, Saul felt an extremely strong sense of falling, and his entire body fell back heavily.

It didn’t hurt, but it was a little weak.

Nick’s cold voice came out, “Well, the grievance spirit in you has collapsed.”

Saul weakly raised his head, just to see Nick placing the manipulation disk on the tabletop.

Seeing Saul’s consciousness return, Nick lowered his head slightly and asked, “How was it, resolved quickly?”

Saul said breathlessly, “After how long?”

Nick looked up at the hourglass clock, “One minute and forty-five seconds.” At some point the retaining irons on Saul’s body retracted, and it was only then that he stood up with his hands on the handrail.

But standing was standing up, and he was just about to move forward when he realized that he had shifted his weight forward in his upper body, and his lower body hadn’t kept up.

His legs were weak, and he stumbled forward and fell to the ground.

“Are you okay?” Nick’s voice, which didn’t have much heat, came from across the room, “I forget you’re young and react more to these stimuli.”

Saul propped himself up on his hands and looked up.

Why did he think Nick was laughing at him?

But Nick, who was in his eyes, had a cold face and did not have the slightest expression of mockery.

Saul simply sat on the ground first, waiting for his legs to regain some sensation, before slowly supporting the ground to stand up.

“Anyway, today’s experiment is over, so you can go back and take a rest.” Nick silently tidied up the lab, with no intention of coming over to give him a hand.

“Okay, Senpai.”

Saul stood on the floor, feeling his feet soft, like stepping on cotton.

“So when do I come over tomorrow?”

“It doesn’t have to be that often, you can just come over every three days.” Nick stopped his hand movements and glanced at Saul’s constantly shivering legs, “After all, experimental subjects also need to rest.”

Saul: “……”

Senior Nick was definitely laughing at him!
In the end, Saul was holding onto the wall to leave the lab.

The door behind him had just closed when he vaguely heard a laugh that was exaggerated to the extreme.

Laughing and smiling were going to draw over.

Then the sound of something hitting the table;

Then the sound of something heavy crashing to the floor;

Then the sound of fists pounding the ground ……

And the laughter stayed with those sounds, never breaking.

“As for laughing like that? And to think you said you were good at emotions!” Saul cursed inwardly, “Is that how you manage your emotions?”

The voices in the room continued.

The exaggerated laughter began to be vaguely laced with pain.

The indignation in Saul’s heart was instantly replaced by a surge of inexplicable scorn.

He pursed his lips tightly, glanced at the closed laboratory door again, and left the place in a hurry.

The laughter was finally left behind him.

So that the others wouldn’t see the difference, Saul puffed out his chest before entering the ramp, disguising himself as if nothing was wrong.

The descent was difficult, especially if you were weak in the knees.

Saul managed to hold on back to his dormitory and couldn’t even touch his bed before he flopped down in a heap, sprawling on the ground.

There was really no strength left, so he simply relaxed his legs and rolled over to lie flat, staring at the ceiling in disbelief.

So many things had happened this morning that the information he received was about to burst his brain.

Mentor Anzawa who was afraid of trouble;

The increasingly influential Mutual Aid Society;
The rubbing of the tower master;
The emergence of a new level two sorceress;
Tutor Rum’s olive branch;

The hidden secrets revealed by Senior Nick;
And the final firefight with Sid ……

Saul sat up again at once.

He looks over his left shoulder, his diary floating quietly, calmly watching the show.

But before Cid’s spiteful spirit disappeared, a dark shadow was clearly yanked near Saul’s left shoulder.

If anything could affect the grudge, it must be the Death Wizard diary.

“What was that black shadow?” Saul tried to ask the diary, but the diary ignored him.

The black shadow was nowhere to be found, and the diary was as high and mighty as ever.

Saul could only study the other white shadow that burrowed into his left hand first.

The main component of Saul’s modified left hand was plastic bone, which had the ability to enhance magical power and improve dark attribute perception.

It was on the auxiliary side, and also had a bit of defense, but it couldn’t provide much of a bonus in attack.

So a lot of the time, the left hand didn’t have too strong of a presence.

Today was instead the first time it appeared abnormal.

Instead, it made Saul a little nervous, fearing that he would wake up one day and realize that his left hand had mutated uncontrollably.

But even though he already had a vague worry about his left hand, Saul didn’t expect the diary to run out when he looked at his left hand.

【Solar Calendar 314, August 25th, Sunny

The junk you made accidentally absorbed a soul fragment.

That’s when you realized that the left hand you created haphazardly was actually a new spirit ester material.

This spirit ester is a bit trashy, but at least it can preserve a soul fragment for two days.

But what can you do with soul fragments?

Play cards with it?]
