Chapter 756 – Stay away from places with water
Chapter 756 – Away From Where There’s Water
Saul was about to go back to his cabin after leaving the upper room.
But then he saw a little girl at the corner of the stairs.
A small blob, maybe four or five years old, biting her left thumb while raising her round eyes to look at Saul.
“Are you a bad man, brother?”
Saul hadn’t seen such a small human cub in a long time, he squatted down and looked at the little girl, “I’m not a bad person.”
“Not a changeling, why did you go into that house?”
“Brother couldn’t get out if he switched.”
The little girl’s mouth suddenly opened roundly, with a look of realization.
Saul found it amusing and stroked the little girl’s head, getting up and preparing to go downstairs.
“Daddy!”
Saul’s movement froze, looked down, it turned out that the little girl was not calling him, but the person behind himself.
He turned around and was surprised to see Paul, the sorcerer apprentice who had just interrogated him, standing expressionlessly in the corridor.
The cute human cub jumped directly to Paul’s side and hugged the bend of his knee, “Daddy!”
Sorcerer apprentice Paul still stood in place, motionless. It looked as if he had not been hugged by the little girl, but had been wrapped around his body by a giant python.
But Saul could tell that it wasn’t fear that Paul was facing the little girl, but a kind of nervousness.
Highly tense.
“Quite the baby daddy.” Saul tried to control it, to keep from giving himself a funny look.
“Ahem,” Paul cleared his throat and suddenly covered the little girl’s ears before addressing Saul, “A word of advice, don’t believe in the cat’s retribution; those who come into contact with it will end up drowning, even though they may become lucky at first.”
“Drowned?” Saul thought of Mike’s death.
The man who died in a thin layer of wash water.
Paul leaned over, carefully and stiffly cradling the little girl in his arms like a piece of butter, stopped communicating with Saul and turned away.
The little girl clung to Paul, padded her chin on Paul’s shoulder, and fluttered her big eyes at Saul.
Saul waved at the little girl and said a silent goodbye.
The little girl didn’t respond, just buried her head in Paul’s shoulder.
“Still, it’s the first time I’ve seen a wizard’s apprentice with a child.” Saul wandered back to his room.
Merchant Mike’s death seemed to have been intentionally suppressed.
Saul didn’t hear anyone discussing the death on the trip afterward, and no one else had any more accidents.
After a month of flying peacefully and boringly through the skies, the airship finally arrived at Sky City, the end of Saul’s trip.
“This is Sky City.”
On the verge of docking with Sky City’s air harbor, most of the travelers packed up their luggage and stood on the uppermost corridor.
Although travelers were still not allowed to be on the deck before docking, the uppermost corridor was the one with windows for viewing the scenery.
For the first time, Saul stood and looked out across the landscape.
There were also two people beside him at the moment, one of whom seemed to have been to Sky City and was making introductions to the other.
“Sky City was originally an island in the sea, and was later moved into the air by a spell cast by the Sky City Lord.”
The other one was very cooperative in his praise.
“Wow! Like a place where the sky god lives.”
Saul followed their gaze and saw an airborne island floating on clouds in a clear blue sky.
The entire island was not small in size, and the lower half of it was all covered by unreadable clouds, as if it was floating above a sea of clouds.
The upper half of the island was a city built around a ring-shaped volcano. A gray road snaked and circled upwards to an aquamarine castle at the highest point.
The top of the mountain is still capped with snow, while the foot of the mountain is flooded with a sea of flowers.
White and pink petals are blown up by the wind and swept into the rooms of local residents.
Even when you look through a window, you can smell the fragrance of the flowers.
“It looks like a paradise.” Saul praised a sentence in his heart, but his gaze fell on the lower half of the island that was completely obscured by clouds.
The distance was a bit far, and he couldn’t see what was underneath the clouds right now.
However, he knew that to raise an island, it would definitely require the support of a rather powerful sorcery spell formation, as well as a constant consumption of resources.
“It’s actually completely unnecessary.” Saul secretly shook his head, “Is spending a lot of magic power to raise an island just for the sake of looking good?”
Appreciation aside, Saul did not agree with such a waste of magic power.
Unless there was something else going on in it.
A few minutes later, the airship shook gently.
Two attendants came over and opened the door to the deck.
“Please disembark in an orderly manner and do not crowd the ship.”
The people who were able to ride the airboat were all of some wealth or status, and there was no scrambling for anyone.
Many people even remained in their rooms, ready to leave when the last people were almost gone.
Saul was just like an ordinary person, carefully carrying his heavy suitcase and holding the orange cat in his other hand, stepping onto the not-so-wide pedals and stepping off the airboat.
When he followed the crowd and arrived at the square outside the airship, he didn’t leave immediately, but found a random place to wait in the shadows under an awning outside a store.
“Lord Sol, what are you waiting for?”
Kate was placed on a crate to make it easier for the two to communicate.
A number of sorcerer apprentices could already be seen walking around here, and the weak magical fluctuations generated by the two men’s Secret Speech Technique exchanges would not attract the attention of others at all.
“Wait for Cat.”
“Meow?”
Saul’s lips didn’t move, but his voice reached the orange cat Kate’s ears, “The sorcerer’s apprentice on the airship found Mike’s body, but not the white porcelain kitten. Instead, he became solemn only after I mentioned it. Until then, he probably just dismissed Mike’s death as a common murder. What does that mean?”
Kate smashed her mouth, “It means someone took the white porcelain kitten before Paul saw the body.”
He turned his head to Saul, “You were so interested in that kitten, why didn’t you get it back then?”
“Because I wanted to observe it objectively.” Saul smiled, “You see, it’s like observing that squire.”
The valet who had once guided Saul to the airship and brought him to Paul for interrogation, at this time came down from the airship in a hurry, also carrying a suitcase in his hand.
Saul was just about to follow him when suddenly a man came up to him.
The person who came was a wizard wearing an aqua-blue cloak, with a few flower petals falling on the cloak.
The cloak was inscribed with a concealment spell formation, making it impossible for outsiders to see the strength of the person in front of them.
However, Saul’s spiritual power swept over and immediately detected that the other party was a formal sorcerer, and was also a second-order formal sorcerer.
The visitor raised his head, revealing a voluptuous face.
“Welcome to Sky City, Lord Sol.”
Thor touched his face and asked without the slightest frame of mind, “How did you recognize me?”
The witch smiled brightly, “Your Fuzzy Perception sorcery is so skillfully executed that onlookers would not be able to recognize you, and it was only through the guidance of the city lord that I learned that you were here.”
“City Lord Ophelia? It’s surprising that she would pay attention to the empty harbor here.”
The sorceress who came to pick up Sol smiled, “In Sky City, the City Lord is everywhere.”
