Chapter 692 – Flaming Clouds
Chapter 692 – Flaming Cloud
In Sol’s platform of consciousness, a circle of twisting and distorting light suddenly appeared.
Saul didn’t enter the conscious body again, it was just a projection of his soul.
Ever since he had gone through the eye of the wind, Saul had realized that although the strength of his mental body had not changed, its toughness had directly doubled several times.
This meant that Saul’s mental body would be harder to harm, distort, and contaminate.
That was why he could use two minds at once, project his soul in the consciousness platform, and could do so without having to retain a little bit of his human form at all, without having to keep a head to remind himself that he was still a person.
As soon as the mass of distorted light appeared in the space of consciousness, Saul could clearly see several thin threads surrounding him.
Three of them belonged to Kismet, Pei’er, and Byron, something Saul had just determined using instantaneous transportation.
The owners of the other few thin threads, Saul was unable to determine who they were for the time being.
But it was no more than a few people who were close to him.
But instead of looking at the few thin threads nearby, he now focused on Herbert.
Soon, he saw a thin thread reaching for the sky above Herbert’s head.
The thin threads in Saul’s body of consciousness drew one out, eyes upward, faded, and finally disappeared.
Instead, a thin line suddenly appeared at the thin line above Herbert’s head, with a slight point at each end.
Saul’s figure suddenly disappeared and suddenly appeared behind Herbert.
At this time, Herbert’s entire body had been transformed into a flame form, and he had a slight advantage in the battle with Pei’er.
But he hadn’t relaxed his attention on Saul.
After realizing that Saul’s figure had suddenly disappeared, an alarm immediately rose in his heart.
In an instant, Herbert’s body exploded violently, turning from an overall flame, into a cloud-like swarm of fireflies.
These fireflies immediately turned around and attempted to wrap around Saul.
Several black sharp blades instantly appeared on Saul’s side and attacked the fireflies.
Soon a dozen or so fireflies were sliced in half and instantly spontaneously combusted, turning into ashes.
However, the remaining number of firefly swarms was still large.
Saul transformed his one hand into a soul angling tentacle and easily swept down dozens of fireflies with a casual wave, but he failed to pull Herbert’s soul into the consciousness platform.
There was even a feeling that it all fell short and didn’t touch the other party’s soul at all.
“Be careful, there’s no way to deal with this state of Herbert’s, as long as there’s still a firefly alive, he can’t be killed!”
Pei’er saw that Saul had rashly come out and sneak attacked Herbert, only to be counterattacked by the other party and about to be surrounded.
She was very anxious and mobilized the air barrier again, trying to isolate Saul and Herbert.
Saul heard Pei’er’s reminder and said, ”It’s true, the higher the rank, the more difficult it is to fight between wizards of the same rank. These people’s means of offense and life preservation are very powerful.”
But Saul hadn’t originally thought that he could easily solve Herbert with these two moves.
“Kismet!”
Just then, an icy female voice sounded.
And upon hearing this voice, the first one to turn pale despite being Herbert who was preparing to attack Saul.
Tens of thousands of fireflies suddenly fled in all directions, flying to the east, west, south and north.
The sound that made Herbert lose his nerve belonged to a fourth-order sorcerer.
Sky City Lord Ophelia.
Saul didn’t chase out immediately, but instead looked at Kismet inside the air barrier.
The latter smiled lightly and shook his head at him, as if to say “Don’t worry, I can handle it.”
What a big face.
Saul averted his eyes expressionlessly, sensed for a while, and chased after him in a direction.
Pelle, on the other hand, stared vigilantly at Kismet, and when she saw Saul leave, she hurriedly chased after him as well.
Tens of thousands of fireflies gathered together was a huge insect cloud.
But if they were spread out and distributed in a pine forest, each one was an inconspicuous existence.
A firefly landed among the grasses, and very humanely turned back to look at the direction it was coming from.
The fourth-ranked sorcerer did not come after it.
“Fortunately, Ophelia didn’t target me. That means my plan hasn’t been completely exposed yet.”
Herbert let out a sigh of relief.
“Now as long as we contact the adjudication court in spite of it, this matter will be fine.”
If Herbert had sacrificed the entirety of the Masterless Lands to get the anchor point, then he would definitely become the target of the Ruling Court and the Stargate Council’s pursuit.
But now that his plan had failed, he wouldn’t have to really tear his face off with the Ruling Court.
At most, he would be punished a bit and sign a few more unequal treaties. And since the Stargate Council and the Ruling Court had been facing each other for years, in turn, they couldn’t easily make a move against Herbert, who was dependent on the Ruling Court.
But Sky City Lord Ophelia was different.
She had come to the Masterless Land in a separate body, and she definitely had thoughts about the anchor point as well.
It might not necessarily let go of Herbert, who had nearly robbed her of her goal.
That’s why Herbert fled in fear immediately after hearing Ophelia’s voice.
That temperamental witch could really kill him whenever she was unhappy.
After fleeing for almost an hour and scattering out countless fireflies. Ophelia shouldn’t come after him.
Herbert’s changing fireflies gradually grew larger and reappeared as a bald male witch.
He took out the ruling order on his body, his face more or less unwilling.
After contacting the Ruling Court, there was literally no possibility for him to grab the anchor point.
And after losing the anchor point, would he still have a chance to become a Fourth Order?
“You’re not afraid of the Judgment Court, but you’re afraid of Sky City?” At this time, Saul’s figure appeared behind Herbert once again.
Grayish-white tentacles hitched onto Herbert’s neck at the same time as Sol spoke.
However, the surface of the latter’s skin burst into flames in the next moment.
Saul immediately felt as if he had been scalded by a red-hot piece of iron, and hastily retracted his tentacle, turning it back into his own palm.
“Looks like that tentacle of yours is capable of more than just absorbing pollution.” Herbert sneered as he raised his hand and touched the skin on the back of his neck, “Did you just try to channel pollution into my body?”
The frustration in Herbert’s mind was swept away.
He was just thinking that he had to give up on this opportunity, but he didn’t realize that the target object was such a tiger. It directly chased him out.
“Is the eye of the wind sleeping in your soul?” Herbert laughed harshly and pressed his palms together, making the crackling sound of flames burning firewood.
“Then I will draw out your soul and make it into a roast goose, and see if Windeye will remain quiet?”
He didn’t trust Saul to seal the eye of the wind on his own.
It had to be a temporary suppression.
That way, the chance to take away the anchor point would likely come back to Herbert!
Herbert looked nonchalant on the surface and was still in the mood for metaphor, but in actuality, he had already begun to secretly mobilize his magic.
He wanted to block off this part of the area so that Saul could no longer perform an instantaneous transfer.
Although he couldn’t teleport, he knew clearly that as long as he sealed off the wizard’s magic, or sealed off the magic fluctuations of the entire area, he could make it impossible for his target to easily teleport.
Watching Herbert about to pounce again, Saul hurriedly shouted, “Don’t move!”
Herbert froze, but really stopped.
It certainly wasn’t because he listened to Saul.
Rather, it was the fact that the contamination that Saul had ordered on the back of his neck when he had just sneaked up on him was starting to take effect!
“What’s this?”
Herbert touched the back of his neck for the second time, he had just clearly removed the contamination that Saul had tried to inject!
But when he withdrew his hand this time, he realized that his palm was burning.
“It’s the anchor point you’ve been longing for.”
Saul held up his left hand, the tip of his ring finger was still transparent, the bones inside were actually black through and through, with only a white bone at the tip.
Herbert’s face changed dramatically, “You got the anchor point fragment?”
He looked at Saul, his eyes glazed over, wanting very much to rush up and snatch that white bone back, but reason told him that it would be best to run away immediately.
He wasn’t sure how Saul managed to keep the anchor point at his fingertips.
But he knew that this thing should never be touched directly.
The contaminating power escaping from it could easily alienate a high-ranked sorcerer!
“You used the anchor point fragment to sneak up on me?” Herbert suddenly thought of what Saul had just appeared behind him to do.
Without waiting for Sol’s reply, Herbert once again turned into tens of thousands of fireflies and flew outward in a desperate and chaotic manner.
However it didn’t fly for long before it suddenly began to burn.
Every single firefly was burning.
It was as if the physical separation hadn’t stopped the contamination from spreading.
Not only that, but out of Sol’s sight, in the valley occupied by the Firefly Lords, a large number of dancing fireflies suddenly began to burn at the same time.
They buzzed and tumbled, but they couldn’t stop the flames from spreading.
Before long, all the fireflies in the Lordless Land began to burn while flying high into the air.
It was as beautiful as a fire cloud.
