Chapter 620.
Chapter 620 – The Thief
Brando was the penultimate to walk into the old manor.
As soon as he entered he realized that the world here seemed to have changed, and the people in front of him who were fixed in place made his heart skip a beat.
“These people?” He immediately denied the speculation he had just made, “No, it can’t be that something happened to all of them. It’s not like this is the Abyss.”
He quickly regained his composure and scanned the entire manor once again, only to be surprised to find that there was no Saul here!
“He’s the only one not set here? What on earth happened?”
In any case, Saul seemed to have escaped the entry kill, which made Brando breathe a slight sigh of relief.
“Since Saul can, I should be able to as well.” Brando still had three bodies stored in his traveling bag, and since he was running back, he had taken almost all of his belongings with him.
“I wonder from which place Saul entered the old manor.” Brandu looked around and suddenly noticed the footprints on the ground.
“This footprint walked directly into the manor! Saul is the only one here who wasn’t set outside, and the path he took could have entered the manor.”
Brando narrowed his eyes and prepared to follow Saul’s path.
However, he had just stepped onto the decaying steps when he suddenly felt a hold on his calf.
“I caught someone, now it’s …… turn.”
Before the little girl could finish her sentence, Brando’s head detached from his body with a swish and flew into mid-air.
The little girl’s words stopped in mid-sentence, and she sank her face, her eyes looking resentfully at the head that flew into the air.
“You cheated.”
Brando didn’t pay any attention to the little girl, just paying attention to the condition of his body.
Sure enough, after the little girl touched his body, a numbing sensation started to spread upwards from the soles of his feet.
He was afraid that if he had hesitated a little just now, he would have been similarly fixed in place.
“This little girl has a problem.”
Brando flew in the air and opened his mouth, a black shadow suddenly shot out of his mouth and hit the little girl on the head.
“Ka-la!”
The little girl’s head immediately cracked into four pieces, and a stream of dust thudded out of the head.
However, the little girl’s mouth was still moving, emitting a “giggling” sound.
“Got you, got you, now it’s your turn to be a ghost!”
Brando instantly knew what was going to happen, and in the next second, his entire body appeared in a gorgeous hall.
Brando instantly felt that his palms were heavy, and when he looked down, he was actually holding a huge wine tray.
A dozen crystal goblets with amber-colored liquid were placed on the tray.
He had actually become a bartender’s waiter in a banquet hall?
“What are you still waiting for, quickly go and serve the wine to the guests! If any of the guests don’t have any more wine in their hands, you’ll just wait to be turned into a new wine glass!”
Brando was suddenly pushed by someone, obviously not feeling much force, but he couldn’t help stumbling forward two steps.
“My power is gone.” He subconsciously protected the tray in his hand, not letting the wine glass fall to the ground.
At this moment, a man elegantly holding a wine glass and wearing a purple dress came over, he looked at Brando and laughed lightly, “Did you anger that little girl? How come everyone else is a VIP guest, but you’re a bartender waiter?”
Kismet laughed hard, his silver bangs flicking in front of his eyes, not hiding his gloating at all.
Brando didn’t know Kismet well, but he knew the man’s name.
“Probably, I’ve angered the owner of this place.” In his heart he was disdainful, after all, he had escaped once, he just didn’t realize that his attack on the little girl would also be recognized as contact, leading to his capture again.
The next time, he immediately ran, not stopping or counterattacking.
“You guys who came in first, do you know what’s going on here?” Brando asked Kismet in a low voice, wanting to see if they had discovered any new rules.
“The only thing I’ve found out so far is probably that you have to play your part or you’ll be thrown out by the host of the party.” Kismet rested his goblet against his lips and arched an eyebrow, this time with a more subtle smile.
“That blue-haired wizard with the monocle just now had to go up to the second floor despite the butler, and now he’s been kicked out of the hall, and I don’t know where he’s gone.”
“The butler?”
“The woman wearing a black tuxedo and a small bowler hat …… is now off somewhere. But you’re the bartender, so maybe you can check out the back kitchen and other places.”
People came and went in the hall, and Brando quickly found everyone, while after five minutes the butler Kismet had mentioned brought in the last of the short wizards who had entered the Second Order.
Brando recognized this man as Durut. His body had shrunk by a third due to a failed sorcery experiment. This was probably the first time in his life that he wore formal dress.
Looked like he couldn’t even walk.
But Durant waited in the same place for a few more minutes, but still didn’t see Saul.
He couldn’t help but ask Kismet, who had just returned from inviting a lady to dance, “Did you see that young wizard who came in behind you?”
Kismet, who seemed to have forgotten the purpose of his entrance, had a smile on his face, “You mean Saul?”
“You know him too?”
“The Pure Spirit Sorcerer’s Tower is not a bad name.” Kismet let out a soft laugh, then withdrew it, “I’ve never met him. Never have, none of the guests, servants or even the mistresses who only occasionally appear here are Saul yet.”
Brando remembered the only Saul who hadn’t appeared outside the manor, though he didn’t inform Kismet of this.
“I’ll go look for it.”
The bartender status had its benefits. He wouldn’t arouse suspicion no matter what he approached.
Brando walked around on the hall with a tray of wine in his hand, and was stopped by the butler when he got to the circular stairway deep in the hall and was about to go up.
“Her Ladyship has not asked to go up.”
“Sorry.”
With the blue-haired wizard’s previous experience, Brando didn’t pester and simply left.
However, just as he turned around, he heard “thumping” footsteps coming from the stairs.
The sound was very urgent, completely different from the leisurely, cheerful tone of the hall.
Brando immediately turned back to look, and saw a woman with the same face as the head of the housekeeper, dressed in the same clothes also came to the middle of the stairs with an anxious face.
She shouted unimaginatively into the noisy hall, “Enemy attack! Enemy attack! Someone has broken into the manor!”
The playing in the hall stopped at once, and all the guests looked up the stairs in consternation.
However, the few wizards who were inexplicably dressed as guests were delighted in their hearts.
All of them in this hall had temporarily lost the ability to cast spells, which was why they couldn’t even go up to the second floor.
Now that one more person had broken into the manor, it finally made this boring ball start to show changes!
Lucy immediately dropped her dance partner and followed the crowd as they approached the circular staircase.
“What kind of person broke into the manor?”
“Are they robbers?”
People stood in the hall, looking up at the steward and asking questions.
“It’s an uninvited thief!” The butler’s face was cold, veins popping out at the corners of his forehead, “He stole our lady!”
