Chapter 604: The Context
Chapter 604 The Context
Pelle didn’t realize that even now, Nerella still doesn’t fight her head on.
The opponent turned into a black shadow and immediately disappeared into the passageway she came from.
“She’s going to the Demon Storage Pool? Will it collide with Sol?”
Although Pei’er had left Saul alone in the passageway when she chased Nerella in, she was confident that the brat who always had magical means would have a way to break free from the traps that Nerella had set up on her own.
But if he met Nerilla head on on his way to promotion ……
Pelle was just about to chase him out when she suddenly felt a nagging force behind her.
She turned around and saw her porous body, which seemed to be issuing an invitation to her, the owner who had been away for a long time.
Pelle paused for a moment, thinking of Saul outside, but still chased after him without hesitation.
However, she had just chased her to the fork in the road when she saw Sol and the fake wind demon Nerilla.
Strangely enough, Saul was pointing one of his hands at the center of the false wind demon’s brow, while the latter was motionless, allowing him to do his bidding.
At this moment, Saul also saw the old hag, and at the same time noticed that her expression was different from her previous big grin.
“Old hag, or should I call you Lord Wind Demon?”
Pei’er bristled, “Even if you use honorifics, I can’t feel the respect. You should still call me Old Witch, or …… directly call Pei’er as well.”
“Uh, then I’ll still call you old hag.” With such a face, Saul couldn’t call out the name “Pei’er”.
Pei’er rolled her eyes in her mind and didn’t care, “You’ve advanced to the second rank? So fast?”
“Actually, the preparations were done as early as when I finished the Demon Storage Pool. Coupled with the fact that this Second Order posing as a Wind Demon helped me upgrade the Demon Storage Pool, everything fell into place.” Sol lightly brought over his several years of preparations.
Nonetheless, Pei’er looked at Saul with a few more scruples in her eyes.
She looked at the motionless Nerella, “What did you do to her?”
“She’s dead.”
A shock went through Pellew’s mind.
Not only did Saul quickly complete his advancement, but he also killed Nerella in a short period of time?
This guy had just ascended to the second rank, and he could easily kill a senior second rank sorcerer, wasn’t that a bit too much?
The scorn in Pei’er’s heart grew a few more points.
She went up to test Nerella and found that the latter had indeed lost all vitality. It was only because she died too quickly and the way Saul killed her was so bizarre that her body looked no different from a living person.
Saul put away the body of the fake wind demon in front of Pei’er, ”My original intention was to advance to the second rank and quickly escape after killing the wind demon. It turned out that this wind demon was simply a fake, while the real wind demon stayed by my side incognito for a year.”
“Old hag, can you tell me now what exactly happened to you?”
Pelle stared intently at the place where Nerella had disappeared before sighing softly after a few moments, “You’re coming with me.”
Sol, however, pointed at the passageway they came from, “There’s no rush for anything else, can you disarm the trap set by the fake wind demon? Otherwise I’m afraid that a few of my men are going to fall apart.”
Pei’er nodded, “That also requires going to another cave. There are organs there that manipulate everything.”
The two walked quickly to the other cave.
Pei’er went to manipulate the magic stone statue to stop attacking and change to self-defense mode. She also asked the Mother of Spiders, who had already turned into a puppet, to pass the command “stop attacking and continue to hibernate” through her spider silk.
After doing all these, Pelle returned to Sol’s side.
At this moment, Saul was observing the broken woman standing in the middle of the cave. His eyes hovered over her broken face and the palm of her hand, which had lost one of its fingers.
“Now, can you tell me exactly what happened?”
Pelle walked over to her original body, “Actually, even now, I feel like I had a dream.” She suddenly pressed her hands on the shoulders of her original body, and then a horrifying scene happened, the body belonging to the old hag actually began to slowly melt.
But instead of dripping down, these melted parts seemed to be pulled by some force, slowly burrowing down the cracks of the broken body in front of her.
And the wind demon’s body that had absorbed the old hag’s body was rapidly changing, and the cracks in her body were quickly patched up.
The faint breath was also gradually recovering.
In contrast, the vigor on the old hag’s side was rapidly waning.
“Bam!”
When all the materials of the old hag’s perfect body flowed into the wind demon’s body, her big head with exaggerated proportions fell to the ground with a loud bang.
The severed finger tethered to her hair then flew up lightly and reattached itself to the wind demon’s palm.
The wind demon’s wooden eyes blinked and regained their luster.
This process took roughly fifteen minutes.
Saul stood quietly the entire time, watching the old hag find herself.
Wind Demon Pei’er looked at Saul with an unseen vigor, “Now, I’m clear on what happened.”
She led Sol to a patch of ice cones in the corner of the cave.
“Two years before you entered the Masterless Land, I suffered a very terrible contamination while trying to advance. Even if I managed to advance in the end, I would have lost myself due to the contamination, and what would have existed in this world would have been nothing more than a mindless killing monster.”
“So I forcibly aborted the promotion, but as a result, both my spiritual and magical powers suffered a strong backlash. It made me almost fall to the second rank. This attempt also made me realize that it’s impossible for you to advance to the Fourth Order in the Masterless Land! Because the rules here don’t allow it!”
“After failing to advance, I originally wanted to collect my forces and quietly recuperate, but I was betrayed by someone close to me. As you can see it was that second-ranked sorceress Nerilla who disguised herself as me. She informed Clark about my severe injury. Clark went so far as to try to take advantage of the situation to drag me into his dream kingdom. If he really finished devouring me, he might be able to try to advance to the Fourth Order as well.”
Pei’er sneered, “Of course if he also promotes in the Masterless Land, then in the end, he will probably end up worse off than me!”
Thor clasped his hands on his arms and analyzed the current situation, “Clark took advantage of your injuries and tried to devour you, while your henchman Nerilla posed as you to stabilize the situation in the Lordless Land. This should have been a delay so that Clark could devour you in peace. But Nerilla isn’t really Third Order after all, and even if she could fake your aura to subdue the wizards of the Bluff, she wouldn’t be able to do so for long. After all, as soon as she makes a move, someone with an eye on her will find out that something is wrong, so she’s desperate for promotion.”
Pelle nodded, “The contamination built up in her body made her unsure that she could survive the promotion, which is why she secretly sent someone to test your ability to clean up the contamination. However, she probably found out through Justin that you were building a magic storage pool and changed her mind and decided to take the risk of utilizing the pool for a quick promotion. Once upon a time, when she was impersonating me, she disguised herself as injured and hardly left this cave, and even last time, in order to snatch your magic storage pool, she let three wizards consume your power before finally appearing to directly take away the pool without making a move at all on the way.”
Pei’er turned to Saul again, “But she didn’t expect that such a short period of time of action still let you discover the cracks, and also had the audacity to sneak into the cliffs to counterattack. If you hadn’t provoked me to come in, I still don’t know how long it would have taken me to find my self-awareness.”
The questions about the fake wind demon were basically solved.
But Clark, the dream maker behind her, was still a big problem.
Thor spread his hands, “First of all, congratulations on finding yourself, and then at the risk of asking, are you able to break free from Clark’s devouring now?”
Pelle bit her lip, her just now tough demeanor taking on more than a little bit of a pathetic quality as it softened.
“I’m not sure.”
Looking at Pelle’s expression, Saul also understood that even if she had found herself now, she was definitely not in the same state as she once was. Even the mental body might be weaker because of Clark’s long years of devouring.
He then asked, “Has Clark now realized that you have regained your self-awareness?”
“I’ve temporarily sealed off these ice picks, and within a few days, he won’t be able to notice the changes here.” Pelle shook her head slowly.
Saul rested his chin, “The enemy is too strong, and the reinforcements still need time to develop …… For now it will be a trick.”
