Chapter 572 – Chain Reaction
Chapter 572 – Chain Reaction
Dream Maker Clark opened his eyes.
It was just about dawn outside.
Yet the sunrise that broke through the clouds couldn’t dispel the gloom inside him.
Clark stared out the window, confused as to whether he was dreaming or awake.
At that moment, a tiny firefly suddenly appeared in the air. In the bright world, the little bit of fluorescent light at the end was barely visible.
The firefly landed on the window, and from it came the voice of a mature man.
“Clark, did you do this?”
Clark blinked as he seemed to wake up wide awake.
“If you’re talking about that dream last night, I can assure you that I didn’t influence it.”
The firefly flapped its wings at a high frequency, looking disturbed, “It really wasn’t you?”
“You know, I don’t have time right now.” Clark raised his arm to trace a circle in the air.
Tiny colored scales fell from his skin and disappeared again before hitting the ground.
An image suddenly appeared inside the circle Clark had drawn, a picture of the pale earth, giants walking among the mountains, burning wilderness, and flying shadows falling into deep space.
“Is this …… the same dream you had?” Firefly’s voice was colored with a hint of uneasiness.
“If the wind demon had the same dream, then it is confirmed that it is not a dream.”
“…… is an omen.” Firefly’s voice trailed off.
A few moments later, the fluorescence of the firefly’s tail disappeared, and the little bug’s vitality vanished, dropping straight to the ground and soon disappearing into a ball of fire again.
“Herbert will surely notify the adjudication court …… If the adjudication court knows and the Stargate Council does not know, it will be unfavorable to me.”
“Yawn~~” yawned Clark, “But the Stargate Council is here, it’s not favorable for me to close the net.”
“After all, it’s all come down to the …… last hurdle.”
Clark slowly closed his eyes and soon entered a new dream world.
Unlike Clark, who didn’t care much about the forces under his command, Firefly Master Herbert was a very possessive person.
He didn’t like it when something came up that was beyond the limits of his control.
A large glowing yellow halo suddenly rose in the vast deep forest, and upon closer inspection, it was actually a magnificent sight made up of a single firefly.
The fireflies converged in the sky and gradually formed a giant ten meters tall.
The wizards and ordinary people living near the deep forest all fell to their knees.
Only the sorcerers could kneel on one knee, while the ordinary people had to press their faces firmly to the ground.
The giant bowed his head and commanded a word towards the forest, then turned back into a large halo of light and quickly disappeared into the sky.
A point of light fell as the halo was far away, floating and landing right on a commoner who had just gotten up.
Before he could react to what had happened, he saw the people around him move away from him in terror.
Next, huge flames rose up all over this unlucky man’s body, and in just a few tens of seconds, he burned to the bone.
In the end, only a little bit of grayish-white dust fell and blended into the equally grayish-white soil.
……
Inside a deep cave on a towering cliff.
The Wind Demon was shivering as she clutched her knees.
She hadn’t been this scared in a long time.
At this time, a maid stood outside the door and reported, “Lord Wind Demon, Firefly Lord, Firefly Lord ……”
Wind Demon raised her head and saw that a humanoid figure made up of fireflies had appeared in front of him.
“Go out, I see him.”
The person outside was relieved and hurriedly retreated. “An omen has appeared in the Land of the Unknowns, and you and I and Clark were all tainted and alienated in the omen.”
The wind demon gritted his teeth, “I saw it.”
“I have informed the Court of Judgment of the omen and they will send someone.”
Wind Demon was puzzled, “Didn’t the Ruling Court agree with the Stargate Council that they are not allowed to enter the Lordless Land?”
“Clark also dreamed of the omen, and you know very well that he has the support of the Stargate Council behind him. As long as both the Stargate Council and the Ruling Court enter the Lordless Land, it’s not breaking the agreement, it’s the termination of the agreement.”
Wind Demon gritted his teeth, “The Lordless Land is afraid that it can’t afford it, the rule power here will be in complete chaos.”
“At this point, they know better than you and I.” Firefly Lord Herbert had a hint of disdain in his voice, “The problem now is that we can’t do nothing.”
Wind Demon’s beautiful eyes flickered for a moment, “What do you want me to do?”
“Suspend the confrontation and cooperate first. Signs appear, it must be that there has been a change somewhere here that cannot be ignored, we need to line up every inch of land. Especially those areas where the rules have changed recently.”
“That would require too many men. Moreover, the areas where the rules have changed are very dangerous, and those who go to line up will most likely not be able to return alive.”
“Hmph ……,” Herbert snorted, “Let the captive commoners go, with the wizards recording on the side. If there is a shortage of manpower, catapult them immediately.”
There weren’t that many commoners under the Wind Demon, and she wasn’t keen on watching humans struggle and die.
Now was not the time to worry too much.
“Yes, I’ll send someone to search for commoners in the neighborhood and have them explore.”
Only then did Firefly Lord Herbert nod in satisfaction.
The five senses composed of fireflies had no expression, but the wind demon could feel a hint of contempt from the other party.
Only when the uninvited fireflies in front of him dispersed and disappeared into the darkness did the wind demon call for the maid.
“How is the person who was sent last time?”
“He hasn’t delivered any news yet.”
Wind Demon leaned on the bench, her entire body looking light and airy, as if she would float away at any time.
Her voice was also wavering, like a murmur in a dream.
“Then give him a little more time. The people from the Judgment Court are coming, if he doesn’t want to be taken back, he should listen to me properly.”
……
Saul, who had a full night’s sleep and was in high spirits, didn’t realize that the entire Lordless Land was about to be messed up because of one of his dreams.
Right now, although he was also clear about what his dream was supposed to foretell, he was not yet able to determine its true meaning.
Of course, he also had some guesses in his mind, just that this matter could not be discussed with others.
There was a vague sense of urgency in Saul’s heart after having this dream.
He knew that he had to find a way to enter the second stage as soon as possible.
If his dream represented some kind of omen like before, then he was afraid that the environment he was in would soon undergo a huge change.
Saul, with the cooperation of Camus, and the brainstorming of the others, had a healing plan for Justin by the third day.
He was going to devise a damage-sharing sorcery spell to temporarily minimize the effects of the injury on Justin, and then take the opportunity to absorb some of the contamination as fast as he could.
The main goal was to strike a new balance between the injuries and the pollution on Justin’s body at a much lower level.
Thus buying him more time to spend on healing.
If all went well, a few more of these treatments would allow both the contamination and the injuries to shrink to the point where Justin could handle them.
At that point Saul would be able to just suck up all the contamination and Justin wouldn’t have to die from his injuries exploding.
Justin looked at Saul’s plan and agreed to go along with it without hesitation.
The treatment plan wasn’t complicated, but it hid the most central step – how was Saul going to absorb the contamination from him?
