Chapter 515: The Old Witch
Chapter 515 – The Old Witch
“Huh? And your head doesn’t hurt anymore?”
The headache that had been tormenting Saul disappeared after the shadows under the surface of the sea escaped.
Only when he shook his head, he still felt that there was water in it.
There was a slight itch in his left ear.
Saul cocked his head to the left, then tapped his right ear again.
“Wow!”
There was a clear sound of water flowing in his left ear canal, and then he felt something flow out of his ear.
Saul immediately raised his left hand to catch it, and then he felt a drop of something cold and icy fall into his palm.
He looked down and realized that it was a drop of black water.
The water droplet seemed to be very dense, and immediately gathered like a pearl in his palm. Saul shook his palm, and the pearl trembled slightly like jelly again.
“Is this the water that got into my brain?”
Saul suddenly noticed that he hadn’t been slapped in the face by waves in a long time.
He carefully stood up and walked over to the edge of the round platform, only to see that the infinite sea had somehow calmed down, and even the sound of the waves was much quieter.
“The round platform seems to have risen a few meters again …… No, it should be that the sea level is falling. This is good news.”
Danger, it seemed, was far away.
“Well, if you look down from this angle, it’s somewhat like the sea I saw in my coma when I first got the golden pages.”
“Except that it was the golden pages that saved me from the sea at that time instead of the platform of consciousness. Why is the diary on strike today?”
Saul looked up and held out his right hand to the diary.
The diary finally gave a response and fell from its height.
At the moment the diary fell into his palm, Saul suddenly had a thought, “This diary wouldn’t …… want to get wet, right?”
The self-deprecating thought to ease the inner tension flashed by, and Saul looked down at the white pages of the diary. There was already new writing on it.
[Sol Calendar 317, October 21st, Sunny
After a brain fart.
You get a drop of pure Kuroshio.
Please use caution.
Remember the saying.
The world of wizards.
Pollution comes from the knowledge in your head, the stars above your head ……
And the black tide within.]
Another rare item recognized by the diary!
No, this was no longer simply more than a treasured item.
Looking at the diary’s description, it was clearly one of the most terrifying things in this world.
“But where exactly did this drop of black tide come from?” Saul looked at the Black Tide in his left hand for a moment, and then looked at the diary in his right hand, pondering the origin of this rare and dangerous material.
He thought back to what he had done during this period of time, “Right, it should be because I absorbed the contamination from those villagers and Claude!”
“I’m afraid that the extremely overbearing rules of necessity on those villagers are caused by this contamination! I absorbed the pollution in the villagers’ bodies according to my past experience, thinking that they would be absorbed by the diary and stars in the space of consciousness and wouldn’t affect myself. I didn’t realize that those contaminations entered my body but turned into a drop of black tide, nearly drowning me.”
Sol closed the diary and reflected on his negligence this time.
“I saved people by absorbing the pollution in exchange for information about the Lordless Lands, and now it seems I was still too careless. The pollution here is much worse and more powerful than that in the west. If I continue to act recklessly based on my diary, I’ll play myself to death sooner or later.”
Summarizing the experience, Saul then summarized the gains.
“Those intelligence aside, the dream bell is a good prop. Of course the most important thing is this drop of black tide.”
“The last thing Claude remembered was that the reason why their village formed such a powerful rule of certain death was because this rule was recognized by the Lordless Land. But now it seems like it should essentially be recognized by the Black Tide. But why would the Lordless Land be equal to the Black Tide?”
“Agu also once told me that when one encounters danger in the Land of the Masterless, one must first observe the rules here before choosing a subsequent course of action. In that case, aren’t all the territories with powerful rules affected by the Black Tide? Could it be that the Lordless Land is filled with Black Tide?” The diary had said that the contamination came from the Black Tide within.
If the Land of the Masterless was filled with black tides, it would not be surprising why this place was so dangerous!
It’s as if something remarkable has been discovered.
Thor looked down at the platform again, the black tide had receded far enough to see the distance, and more stars reappeared on all sides of the circular platform.
“It’s time to go back.” Thor gripped a drop of the black tide in his hand and was about to close his eyes and return to his body when he suddenly realized something was wrong again, “The time on the diary just now was ……21 the day? When I came here, it was clearly only the 17th day, how come there are three days missing in between?”
If he had really been confined to the Consciousness World for such a long time, then Marsh was the only one outside, and he didn’t know what the rush had become.
Saul fixed his mind and prepared for the worst before formally closing his eyes.
Consciousness returned!
……
When Saul slowly opened his eyes, before him was a small, gloomy room with a row of wooden fences in the near distance.
Underneath them were cold stone slabs, and behind them were rough stone walls.
He looked up and around the room and let out a silent sigh, “That’s quite a bad situation.”
Saul was surprisingly locked in a wooden cage half a man high!
“Should have been trapped in the Consciousness Body for the past few days and met the others. But it’s just being captured …… “Saul checked his body in the limited space, no parts were missing, even his clothes hadn’t been touched, “It’s kind of a blessing in misfortune. You really can’t just absorb pollution anymore in the future.”
“You’re awake?” A hoarse old woman’s voice rang out in the darkness.
A terrifying human face suddenly appeared outside the cage, tightly squeezed between the two bars.
Her face was wrinkled as if it had shrunk, and her eyes and ears were shockingly large. Long, thinning white hair was tied high on the back of her head, with a live finger dangling from the end.
When she spoke, the corners of her mouth grinned almost up to her ears.
“If you don’t wake up, I’m going to have to dismantle you and see if there’s anything I can use.”
“Where’s my driver?” Saul couldn’t sense the other party’s strength, but it shouldn’t be more than second rank.
“Heh …… “When the old woman opened her mouth, a fishy taste floated out, as if she had a pickled salted fish stuffed in her throat, “Your coachman has been asking about you for the past few days, and as soon as you woke up, you were instead asking about his how he was doing. He’s doing well, and after a few days of watering, he’s already sprouting new mushrooms.”
Saul’s eyes widened, “You planted him?”
“Hmm?” The old woman reached out with bony and rough-skinned fingers and stroked her chin, “That’s good advice.”
It seems to be alive.
Thor relaxed his shoulders and carefully rubbed the skin of his left hand at the wrist through the cover of his robes.
There was an inconspicuous bulge there, underneath which hid the storage device he had acquired from Archaeust.
Seeing that the old woman had not taken his storage device, Saul breathed a sigh of relief.
“Who are you? Why have you arrested me and my coachman?”
“Not arrested,” the old woman wiggled her fingers with a teasing smile, “You are the trash I picked up when I was out and about. Some of it can still be utilized, though, and some of it will just have to be taken apart to see if there are any valuable parts. As for me, you can just call me the old hag, you don’t have to know anything else.”
Thor’s eyes moved to either side, noticing that there were a dozen more cages next to the one holding him.
Five of the cages had people, or non-human creatures in them, the others were empty.
The others who were locked up were sitting curled up in a ball, and two were clearly radiating the strength of a first order wizard.
It seemed the old woman was a second order sorcerer.
Saul took a deep breath and nearly choked again, “Your Excellency the old witch ……”
“No need to bring honorifics, I don’t like people who honor me on the surface and curse me in their hearts.”
“Well then, old hag, what will it take for you to let me go?” Saul loosened his shoulders.
The old hag reached into the cage and ran her fingertips across Saul’s chin, “What I pick up is mine and will never be let go. I will only tear you down when you are useless.”
