Chapter 492.

Chapter 492 Conspiracy
Kent’s words caused Saul to show some uneasiness.

He dropped his hand, turned around, and headed for the stairwell.

“If Shia is certain that I won’t be able to come back, then his attack will definitely be directed at my residence. I’m going back to check it out.”

Kent followed close behind on Saul’s flank.

“I’ll go with you.”

Morton deliberately took a step behind and walked behind Kent. The four wizards who had come in with Kent, however, did not follow, as they each seemed to have their own tasks.

After entering the stairwell, Saul did not start running wildly. He glanced at the thick branches occupying the left passage and walked upwards at a steady pace.

As he moved, the branches next to him grew in synchronization.

“Is this plant some sort of 4th rank sorcery? Dean Pound is here too?”

“No. The dean doesn’t leave the academy easily. This is a sorcery scroll made by the dean himself, Giant Wood Growth. The power isn’t as strong as when the dean himself casts it, but it’s enough to seal off the entire building.”

“What do you think the source of contamination could be?”

“No idea. There’s everything in this world, and the real source of contamination might have to be seen to be understood.”

Saul was silent.

They made it six floors up the stairwell, but there were still ten floors to go before Saul’s room.

The rotating staircase seemed to have no end, and the consistent up and down had an illusory sense of time and space overlapping.

“Sorcerer Saul, I wonder how Sorcerer Shia tricked you all into going out to find him?” Kent suddenly spoke.

“He said …… that you are secretly breeding evil spirits, specializing in killing those who want to leave the city.”

Kent laughed so hard that his shoulders shook as he listened, “Hahaha, so it wouldn’t be me, I wouldn’t even need to do that if I wanted to cultivate evil spirits. Aren’t there enough evil spirits born naturally in this city for me to use?”

Sol was silent.

Kent glanced behind him at Morton, who had been staring at him cautiously, and asked Saul again, “Well, Shia must have woven a horrible scenario for you, tricking you into cooperating with him in investigating me for self-preservation, right?”

“Pretty much.” Saul’s attention didn’t seem to be on Kent as his steps gradually slowed down, even as the branches growing around him had overtaken him.

“I do wonder a little about how Shia deceives people. Does he talk about scary, strange scenes? Like …… upside down people or something?”

……

Meanwhile, Shia and Julie were running wildly through an underground garbage disposal plant.

Julie was in a sorry state at the moment, her skin missing its original polish.

She grumbled, “I really shouldn’t have trusted your words.”

Shia disliked Julie back while alertly looking around, “Come on, unlike Saul, you’ve lived here for seven or eight years, and would agree to come over this time, it must be because you’ve discovered something too!”

Julie bit her lip, “I don’t know anything!”

After a few minutes of running, the two came to a dead end where there was no passageway upwards to leave, and the rustling behind them had gotten closer.

Julie tossed her head full of white hair and finally got a little anxious, “Aren’t you the best at running away? Quickly think of a way!”

“Strange, there was clearly a small exit here originally.” Shia, however, ignored Julie and just stared at the wall in front of him.

“How the hell did you step on it beforehand?” Julie grumbled, while staring nervously behind her.

“I didn’t expect …… Kent’s methods to be that powerful.” Shia’s eyes rolled straight up, as if he was thinking about how to disengage.

He suddenly looked at Julie by his side and muttered, “Could it be that Saul didn’t come over this time because he sensed something? It shouldn’t be, he’s only been here for a few months, how could he know more than me?” “How much do you think Saul knows?”

“I think ……,” Shia was just about to answer, but he suddenly realized that it wasn’t Julie who had just spoken at all.

Instead, Julie was currently looking at the path they had come from with a horrified look on her face.

An old man with a head full of white hair and holding a wooden staff of equal height stepped out of the passageway a little bit and stood in front of Shia and Julie.

“Dean Pound?” Julie’s mouth opened wide in disbelief.

On the contrary, Shia didn’t look that surprised.

“Well, hello, Wizard Julie. Wizard Shia doesn’t look too surprised, did you already know that I was behind Kent?”

Shia licked his dry lips and took two steps back, his back resting against the wall that had inexplicably lost its escape route.

“I didn’t. I just thought at first that even if Kent wanted a large number of Evil Spirits, he shouldn’t be able to use the means of secretly cultivating them, given his status as the de facto organizer of the Scavengers. It’s not like Evil Spirits can be directly absorbed, he can’t use that many of them.”

Shaya looked at Dean Pond and revealed a bitter smile, “Now I understand, if the one who needs evil spirits is Baidong Academy, then I’m afraid that no amount of evil spirits would be enough to fill it.”

Julie was so scared that her hair strands were trembling.

She dared to join Shia and secretly investigate the Kent sorcerer, but she wouldn’t dare to go up against the second-ranked sorcerer Pound.

It wasn’t like she was one of those crazy mentors in the Witch Tower who would even presume to assassinate a second-order wizard.

“You guys don’t have to be this nervous.” Pound raised his hand and a white rose suddenly blossomed at the top of the wooden staff he held, “You are all honorary tutors of the academy, and I am not a murderer. Since you guys have discovered this secret, you can officially join Baidong Academy as tutors.”

Julie’s heart was relieved. She secretly released the seven-colored aperture, and there was no black, which represented killing intent, or gray, which represented deception, on Dean Pound.

In other words, if she agreed to formally join Baidong Academy as a mentor, then she would be able to survive.

To become an official mentor, one had to sign a contract. The other tutors kept the contents of the contract a secret, but the conditions inside were obviously not too lenient.

Still, compared to death, the temporary loss of freedom was acceptable.

Julie immediately raised the corners of her stiff mouth, “That’s great, Dean, I’m willing to join.”

But Shia was not so well-behaved.

“Dean Pound, actually, we only discovered where Kent was cultivating the evil spirits, we didn’t notice anything happening in the academy ……”

Pound didn’t give Shaya a chance to finish his sentence at all, “Become an official tutor of the academy, or try to escape?”

Shaya’s pleading expression immediately tightened, “I knew that the development of Archester City to act on its current scale was all a conspiracy of yours. Letting me join? You think I didn’t realize that the formal tutors are all …… Anyway, I don’t care how you guys want to play, I won’t accompany you!”

As Shaya spoke, one hand kept clenching the collar.

And when he finished not accompanying him, his chest suddenly flashed a few times.

Dean Pound’s complexion sank, and the wooden staff was just lifted up a point when he saw Shia in front of him suddenly glowing all over his body, and then the whole person disappeared as if he was burned to ashes by the light emanating from his body.

“A spatial teleportation spell?” Pound said silently.

Julie was also dumbfounded, “He actually hid a teleportation spell formation on his body? Isn’t he afraid of attracting the monsters in the space gap?”

“For a high probability death risk, it’s worth risking a little low probability death risk. Sometimes, I still appreciate Shia.” Dean Pound did not show surprise or disappointment as he looked at where Shia disappeared, “But he forgot one thing.”

“…… What?” Julie clutched her chest, she felt that Dean paused on purpose just to wait for her to ask a question.

“In the face of absolute strength, running away is useless.” Dean Pond revealed a satisfied smile.

Last day, don’t waste your votes!
