Chapter 482 – Sources of Pollution
Chapter 482 – Source of Pollution
Saul stood in the stairwell and watched as the girl, whose hands, feet and mouth were bound, struggled convulsively.
As the girl struggled, the skin on her body cracked a little, revealing the black stains inside.
Some fine black particles rustled down from between the cracks in the skin, falling to the ground and soon forming a small puddle of spiky dust.
Saul saw through the doorway of the stairwell that the man inside had gone back to his room, and only then did he allow Zo to continue helping the girl up the stairs.
Occasionally someone would pass Saul and the girl on the way, but none of them realized that there was someone else walking beside them.
Saul made his way up the stairs until he reached the top floor, his temporary quarters.
By the time he reached it, the skin on the girl’s body had severely cracked and deformed with her struggles, and her entire body had almost been reduced to a mass of black charcoal.
It was as if it was a burnt corpse.
“Master?” Agu and Morton greeted them.
They took the girl from the little algae and easily overpowered their opponent, trapping the person in a sorcery spell.
There were five other spells next door to this one, trapping the evil spirits that Saul had brought back from his previous sweeper mission.
The black and charcoal girl was the sixth.
“I didn’t realize that Penny went out every day and didn’t find any Evil Spirits, but instead, one was just born downstairs from us.”
Algae shook off the dust that fell from her body, before she approached Sol with a harried mouth.
Saul reached out and scratched on Komo’s chin, “Well, this time it’s thanks to you.”
Little Algae wriggled happily, like a dancing snake.
Saul looked at the motionless black charred corpse in the phalanx, this kind of charred corpse he had already encountered once some time ago, only that the evil spirit was finally collected by Kent, who was in charge of scheduling missions at that time.
Saul didn’t go out of his way when the others were present, so he didn’t reap the rewards at that time and only got some magic crystals.
However, Saul did keep an eye out for the characteristics of the evil spirits, and if there was a suitable one, he would exchange magic crystals or other sorcery materials for the evil spirits the other party got.
Therefore these days he had accumulated quite a few more evil spirits.
It was only this time that he realized that the Evil Spirit he had just obtained was the same as the one that Kent had collected last time.
Saul collected the evil spirit – this one was not very usable – and headed to Baidon Academy.
These were things he had found out in plain sight that others might have picked up on as well, and it wasn’t out of the blue for Saul to tell the Dean.
As it turned out, when he traveled to the academy, he met Julie halfway. Julie had a stony face and was also heading to the academy.
“Sorcerer Saul.” Julie’s face immediately added a few more smiles when she saw Saul, “What a coincidence, I ran into you today as well, do you still need to exchange for an evil spirit?”
It was no longer a secret that Saul went out on missions to collect newborn evil spirits and exchange them with others. Some sorcerers knew that Saul had rare sorcery materials in his hands, and even wanted to take the initiative to find Saul to exchange them.
Saul looked at Julie and directly stated the purpose of his trip.
“I recently discovered a newborn Evil Spirit, they have uniform characteristics, but the locations where they appear are far apart, so I’m guessing that a new source of contamination hasn’t appeared.”
Evil spirits in Kaukoust tend to appear alone, and are usually alienated by certain ordinary people or spirits who have been exposed to magical or spiritual radiation that exceeds their tolerance limits.
However, on rare occasions, there were cases where several similar evil spirits appeared together.
This is usually the case when a certain source of contamination that is very dangerous to ordinary people has appeared. If this source of contamination cannot be removed, similar evil spirits will continue to arise.
These evil spirits are not powerful, but they are deadly enough for ordinary people. Many of the manufacturing industries in Archester City required ordinary people to complete basic tasks that required a lot of manpower, so every time they encountered a pollution source that would cause a lot of casualties, they would remove it as soon as possible.
More rewards are given to those who report information about the source of pollution to those who find it.
Who knew that when Julie heard Sol’s words, her face also revealed gravity, “You also encountered a similar evil spirit?”
The two pairs their respective situations and realized that the nascent evil spirits they encountered were surprisingly the same.
All of them were charred black, dried up and thin, as if they were charred corpses that perished in a blazing fire. However, they were shaped like ordinary people on the outside, and when they encountered an attack, their epidermis cracked before revealing the black powder inside.
However, what worries Saul even more is that Julie and the evil spirits he found all appeared in different corners of the city.
This meant that the source of contamination wouldn’t be fixed in one place, which would make it even harder to clean up.
The two kept thinking that a dangerous source of contamination had appeared, but by the time they went to Dean Bond, the latter didn’t know what he was busy with and just told them to just inform Kent about it and deal with it.
Julie agreed outwardly with a smile on her face, but after leaving the college she whispered a warning to Saul, “This goes to Kent and I guess it won’t go anywhere.”
Saul’s eyes flashed as he pretended not to understand, “You’re thinking there’s something wrong with Kent?”
Julie curled her long white hair with her fingers, as if it was just unintentional, “Who knows, anyway, he’s been collecting evil spirits lately, and if we go on a mission together, the evil spirits end up being collected by him, and he’s yet to be seen redeeming them at the academy.”
These things that the Kent wizard did were somewhat similar to Saul.
Julie was afraid that what she meant was that Kent Wizard wanted to collect evil spirits, so he wouldn’t deal with pollution sources that could mass produce evil spirits.
If this matter was informed to Kent, the other party was afraid that he would still find a way to utilize the pollution source.
After Saul reported this matter to the academy, he asked Komo and Penny to scout around the temporary residence to see if there were any other newborn evil spirits that had appeared.
Komo didn’t find any other evil spirits, but Penny did notice a girl.
“…… Her name is Izzy, she’s the roommate of the Evil Spirit that Brother Saul captured last time, and I’ve noticed that there’s something not quite right about her state.”
Penny flitted around the room as she recounted what she had discovered.
“I’ve noticed that she always smells like burning, and she’s having problems with her shadow from time to time.”
Saul, who was helping Ann get used to her new soul armament, stopped what he was doing.
“What’s wrong?”
Penny flew over and looked at Ann, who had four extra spider legs behind her, and flew high again.
“Her shadow doesn’t match her body, hehehe, there should be contamination hiding in her body, but it hasn’t completely exploded yet.”
Thor thought for a moment and said to Ann, “You and Agu continue to acclimatize to your new soul armament, I’ll take Morton out to take a look.”
Originally, after the Scorpion Tail Needle was absorbed by the diary, Saul wanted to let undergo a new modification, but for some reason, Ann strongly requested to continue experimenting with her. Moreover, Ann had adapted equally well to the new soul armament made by Sol, the Poison Spider.
Saul wasn’t sure why, and could only assume that Ann was originally a mixture of multiple souls, which was why she was able to adapt well to other spirits.
So now, only Herman was still lying alone in the diary.
Saul arranged the tasks of the others and prepared to take Morton, who had the strongest fighting ability, out to check on the girl named Izzy.
But just as he reached the front door, the room’s transmitter suddenly went off.
Saul picked up the transmitter, not realizing that on the other side was the Shia sorcerer who never took the initiative to find him.
“Sorcerer Saul, I found a new evil spirit, but it’s very dangerous and I can’t deal with it alone.”
Saul: “In the past, in this situation, wouldn’t you have immediately abandoned the mission?”
Safety of life above all else, this was the belief of the Shia sorcerer.
Shia was silenced for a few seconds by Saul’s words and finally whispered, “I only called you and Witch Julie. If you want to participate, come to my residence within an hour.”
After saying that, he closed the communicator.
Morton stepped aside and said, “I’m afraid this man is hiding something he didn’t say over the communicator.”
Saul nodded, “If this isn’t a trap, then it’s only natural to not risk …… more likely to die for something that would make someone who is sparing his life risk it.”
Chapter 2 is at night, what time I can’t be sure anymore.
