Chapter 478: Not a Human Being
Chapter 478: Not a Human
Hearing Beth’s rare snatch of an answer, Pound sighed with a complicated expression, “The situation in the western region is getting more and more complicated lately.”
Beth sniffed, silently stood up and headed out. The long witch’s vestments dragged on the ground without a sound.
Pound was behind her and asked somewhat unwillingly, “Don’t you have any other plans? Even Nefreet’s people went into the west a while ago.”
Beth’s steps did not half stop, and she left Pound with only a whisper.
“Effectiveness isn’t enough, Archester needs more people.”
Pound opened his mouth and the last word didn’t come out.
……
Saul got the evolution chart and went home to start working on it.
The evolution diagram had two more elements than the erosion diagram, a twisted light and a hideous black shadow.
The hideous black shadow was well understood, it should be the evil spirit. But the distorted light was not so clear.
Fortunately, Saul didn’t have to study it alone, the four consciousness bodies around him could advise him.
In the end, it was Agu, who had been guarding the library for years, who led Saul to the books with the appropriate descriptions.
“Dark shadows can be understood as evil spirits, and can actually be understood as alienation.” Saul held the book and read it word by word.
Penny and Algae surrounded the sides, Agu and Anze sat on the left and right hands, and Morton and Herman watched from their diaries with the help of Saul’s vision.
“The distorted light is an inducement, but some wizards have claimed to have found an intelligent being with an autonomous consciousness behind the light, but there is no way to collect the light as of yet.”
The book is just an analysis of some uncommon life forms, but it is rare that it has illustrations on it that are much the same as those depicted on the evolutionary charts.
It was just that the evolution charts were much better in detail, which was in line with the extreme detail required by the meditation charts.
After a few rounds of testing, it could be determined that there was nothing wrong with the evolution chart.
With a smile in his eyes, Saul took out the cylinder-like evolution diagram and followed Shaya’s example of scattering it into a circle.
After the wooden pieces were scattered, the pattern closest to Sol was still that black shadow.
The meditation movement that Saul was about to start suddenly stopped.
Under the puzzled gazes of several people, he stroked the cylinder and put it away, tossing it unconsciously in his hand a few times, and then opened it again on the table.
It was still the black shadow that was closest to Saul.
Saul collected the cylinder again and rolled it a few times on the table before opening it.
Still the black shadow.
Now the others could see the problem.
“Is the regiment fixed when the evolution chart opens?”
Sol put the cylinder away again and handed it to Ann, who opened it, also with the shadows closest to her.
Saul thought about it and handed it back to Algae.
Though she didn’t quite understand, Komo did as Saul instructed, and gripped the small circle that held the top of the cylinder with her mouth.
The cylinder spread out, and this time, the closest thing to Little Algae was the …… monster.
Herman exclaimed in his diary.
[So it turns out, so whoever opened the evolutionary chart, the pattern closest to that person is the corresponding race.]
Morton: [Ahem!
Silence in the room.
The only one who still doesn’t understand anything, Algae, silently holds the evolution chart over his head in front of Sol.
Saul also silently looked at the diagram in front of him.
As Komo toppled it over, it touched the wooden piece on top, causing the pattern to rotate, and when it moved in front of Saul, it was the black shadow closest to him again.
It was quieter in all directions, even Penny had stopped chattering. Saul slapped his knee and smiled to lighten the mood, “Being recognized as a malevolent spirit is as malevolent as it gets, it doesn’t keep me from meditating anyway.”
Seeing that Saul didn’t even care anymore, the others relaxed.
Saul lowered his head and didn’t tell the others that when he got the erosion chart, the closest pattern to him was the octopus monster.
In short, the main one was not a human.
Despite some displays of dissimilarity, after Sol’s valiant attempts, he decided that the Evolution Chart was perfect for him.
The efficiency of his meditation was drastically improved, and as Sol engaged in semi-immersive meditation, he saw something inexplicable in addition to soul fragments.
But perhaps it was the first time he used this new meditation method, Saul couldn’t really see it, he just felt that the world filled with soul fragments became more distinct and three-dimensional between the interplay of light and shadow.
If the Erosion Diagram was a small doorway that opened the door to a new world for Saul, then the Evolution Diagram was pushing that door open a little more.
It could even allow Saul to stick his hand in and grab it twice.
This was only if Saul hadn’t fully grasped the evolution diagram. When he was a little more familiar with it, and the depiction within his spiritual body was a little more complete, he might even be able to push that door open a little more.
After the depiction of the evolution diagram was on track, Saul began his second study.
Soul Arming.
Now he had five evil spirits in his hands.
It was true that the city of Kaukoust was “rich” in evil spirits, but it was different from those powerful evil spirits that had been around for years. The evil spirits here are often newborns, and their strength is poor.
Those that were slightly stronger would be accidentally destroyed by Saul when he fought with them.
But the weak evil spirits were also suitable for Saul to experiment on.
Like dissecting a corpse, he tried to break down the evil spirits. The most contaminated areas were discarded and not used, while those parts that were less contaminated but whose spirits had mutated were singled out individually.
For example, the centipede-like elongated arms that grew out from under John’s head.
There were only seven usable parts of the five weak evil spirits in the end, and Saul did some more picking and choosing, piecing together several differently shaped pieces of the spirits to form a scorpion-tailed needle.
Saul used a sorcery spell to maintain this piece of artificial spirit body energy from escaping, and then began to pick the first experimenter among the four consciousnesses.
Even though Saul had read a lot of books and done some rehearsals before this, it was after all the first time he had ever done a spirit body transformation, and even if it was just putting a spirit body into a spirit body, there was still a certain amount of risk involved.
It was like adding another arm to a person with sound limbs, and that arm couldn’t just be for show, it was better to be able to clench a fist and punch someone.
In short, a bad one could also paralyze the originally able-bodied person.
In such a situation, to Saul’s surprise, the first person to present himself was Morton.
But whoever it was, it was all the same to Saul.
So he was ready to put Morton on first.
However, the first experiment didn’t go well; Morton’s spirit body rejected the scorpion-tailed needle so much that the two almost fought before the experiment even officially began.
After experimenting twice, Saul still replaced Ann, who was the second one to step forward.
And miraculously, the Scorpion Tail Needle, which had shown strong repulsion in Morton, was able to get along well with Ann.
Once Ann had adapted to this new spirit fragment, Saul began the formal fixation experiment.
Three days later, Ann was in her room directing her new tail over and over again against Penny in the air.
Penny looked like she was just flying slowly, but she was actually very dexterous, and even though Ann’s new tail was in spirit form and moving fast, it still couldn’t hit the low-flying Penny.
The two were just practicing back and forth at first, but somehow as they fought they suddenly became competitive.
The large living room had turned into a battlefield for the two, while Agu and Komo hunkered down in the corner and watched.
Agu: “Tsk, tsk, tsk, these two women!”
Zo: “Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk ……”
