Chapter 171: Why am I always the one who gets hurt?

Chapter 171: Why Am I Always the One Who Gets Hurt

Saul pushed open the door and saw Kujin leaning on the opposite hallway wall.

The other party gazed at Sol silently, his stature not looking as tall as usual.

He didn’t ask Saul about his negotiations with Ferguson, as if he was indifferent to it.

Since the other party pretended to be an outsider, Saul followed suit, nodded at him, and left the place.

He deliberately set the time at two o’clock because he didn’t want to be dragged along.

However, Saul hadn’t been able to return to the Treasury before three in the afternoon.

On the path that must be taken to the corpse room in front of the second floor of the East Tower, a man fully hidden in a cloak was standing in the middle of the corridor waiting for him.

Wizards really liked to wear these big cloaks that could wrap their whole body inside.

Thor had seen Lord Golzatha go through it, Haywood go through it, and wizards walking outside especially liked to hide in cloaks.

While blocking the sight of others, it also gave concealment to the more or less abnormal appearance of these wizards.

Saul stopped five meters away from the cloaked man in front of him.

From his angle, he couldn’t even see if the other party was a man or a woman.

“Long time no see, Saul.”

The visitor reached out a slender, white hand from underneath the cloak and gently removed the hood on top of his head.

Sol revealed a smile, “It’s been a long time, Konza-senpai.”

“I know that promoting to the second level isn’t even a problem for you, but I didn’t expect you to snatch this job from Kujin just after you were promoted.”

“It really wasn’t me who snatched it.” Even though he had already been promoted to the second level, Saul still trembled a little in front of Kongsa.

Especially when the other party’s eyes, one by one, surfaced, the pressure Saul felt was no less than it was at first.

But what kept him puzzled was why Kong Sha, who was so powerful, had not been able to advance to the third level.
“Sometimes grabbing a thing doesn’t necessarily require taking the initiative. As long as you gain recognition, you can easily replace someone else.” A smile flickered across the red-colored lips.

Kong Sha seemed happy to see it.

“But it’s not easy to gain recognition.” Sol stepped forward, “”Elder Kongsha came here specifically to wait for me, is there something wrong?””

Kong Sha turned around and looked into the darkness deep in the corridor.

“I would like to continue the deal between us.”

“There are no heads in the coffers that can be taken out.” Saul said hurriedly.

“I know. And I’m past the point of needing heads.” There was some bitterness in Konza’s words.

Perhaps it was because of the change in her identity, her attitude towards Saul was no longer so condescending.

“Then what do you need?”

Kongsha was silent for a moment, Saul was straight to the point, but she hadn’t made up her mind yet.

Saul didn’t push, he waited quietly for Konza’s answer.

The longer the other party hesitated, the more important the thing she wanted, I’m afraid.

But instead, Saul wasn’t that pressurized.

This deal, in the final analysis, the dominant was still Saul.

So whether he was facing Third Level Apprentice Ferguson or Kong Sha in front of him, Saul didn’t panic.

“I need ……” Kong Sha said in the middle of her sentence, and suddenly raised her head, “Who? Come out!”

Saul was startled and hurriedly half-sidestepped his head.

But he still kept half of his attention on Kongsa, after all, the sound was just too much like some kind of diversionary underhanded trick.

But the corridor behind him was empty. Even the nearest first corpse room was nearly a hundred meters away.

In addition the corridor, though curved, had no cover.

“Could it be some apprentice who knows stealth?” Seeing that Kongsa was just standing still, facing the corridor behind herself without any other movement, Saul thought that he was afraid that there really was a third person present.

Invisibility is a 2nd level sorcery, if there really is a third person here, the strength must be above 3rd level. Kong Sha also seemed to have thought of this, and instantly a dozen or so eyeballs densely pounced on Kong Sha’s glassy head.

They were stacked on top of each other in layers, each pupil facing a different direction.

Saul noticed that the eyes in Kongsha’s head had become more numerous, and a few of them didn’t look like ordinary human eyeballs either.

Suddenly the pupil of one of Kung Sha’s eyes snapped open, dilating to almost the entire front half of the white of the eye.

“I see you.” All of Kongsha’s eyes immediately turned in the same direction and stared intently there.

However, there was still no movement in the direction she was gazing at.

“Saul, let’s go inside.” Kong Sha said, taking the initiative to step back, her entire body gradually wrapped in the darkness of the corridor behind her.

Saul did not doubt Kongsa’s judgment, and he turned back to squint his eyes at the place where he had been stared at by Kongsa.

Unfortunately, the person hiding in the shadows wasn’t some sort of spirit, and Saul’s semi-immersive meditation methods could do nothing about it.

He turned sideways and took a step into the depths of the darkness as well.

After both Saul and Konza entered the deep corridors of the second floor of the East Tower, a foot suddenly manifested itself at the edge of the darkness, while its owner who had not entered the darkness was still invisible.

“Tsk!” A whisper resounded through the corridor.

That foot eventually exited the darkness and disappeared into nothingness.

And at that moment, the two of them, Saul, had already arrived at the first floor of the East Tower, in front of the bronze-colored metal gate.

The bronze gate was ancient and heavy, but the sorcery spell formations drawn on it gave people a bizarre sense of vestigial vision.

After Kong Sha approached the gate, she pursed her lips and her face was solemn, seemingly a little nervous.

Saul was the one with the key, and he could not feel the pressure in front of the bronze gate.

“Elder Kongsha,” Saul stood in front of the gate, “It’s almost three o’clock.”

Kongsha raised her head, a few eyes popped out and stared scornfully at the bronze gate, while at the same time, her mouth said quickly, “What I need is the Elven Whisper numbered 117.”

Sol’s face instantly grimaced, “Elder Kongsha, all items with numbers are taboo. I can’t even use them, let alone bring them out for you.”

Kong Sha parted one eyeball to stare at Sol, “I know, I’ll enter to use it myself. This will neither require you to move the forbidden item nor bring the item out.”

“Be my guest then, I’ll consider myself late for work today.” Saul wasn’t convinced it was that simple, he simply gave up his place at the gate, and even deceived himself by closing his eyes.

“I can t enter …… but you can take me in.”

“Take you in?” Saul knew he could indeed do it.

Just like Kujin had taken him in. And if the people he brought in tried to turn on him, Saul could use the key and just kick the people he brought in out.

But there was a hidden danger, if the other person was too fast and grabbed something before Saul could react, he could cause damage to the second vault.

“Then Elder Kongsha, how can I be sure that you won’t do anything superfluous when you go in?”

As long as the gain was large enough, Saul didn’t mind taking risks. This was also based on the tacit understanding that he and Kongsa had been working together for several years.

In the place of a stranger like Ferguson or Cujin, Saul wouldn’t even consider it.

“Elf Whisper, is a green conch, but the size of a fist. You can’t use him, but you can move.”

“I’ll take the Elven Whisper to this gate to test it inside, so you can come in and use it?”

“Right.”

In this way, even if Kong Sha wanted to enter the interior of the warehouse, she wouldn’t be able to push the second door. And if Kong Sha wanted to snatch the Elven Whisper, she would have to risk her life by offending the Tower Master.

“That’s worth a try. Then what price is senior prepared to pay in exchange for me continuing to risk my life for you?”

“The locator.” Kong Sha said, “You’ve just entered Level 2, so it’s time to think about locators once you’ve stabilized. I can provide you with two safer locator programs.”

“I know you have a strong spiritual talent. But magic has always been your weakness. So you can either continue to raise your spiritual power or use the locator as a backstop to forcefully raise your magic power. By the way, has your current magic power passed 55 joules? There’s no rush to build a locator if your magic power is too low.”

Saul: “Just over 80 joules.”

Kong Sha: “……”
