Chapter 64 – The Disappearing Armor (Third Shift)

Chapter 64 – The Disappearing Armor (Third Shift)

Wright’s face was sullen as he followed Grundy around the crowd and into the corner at the back of the House of Representatives.

As the stone door opened, light shone into the dimly lit tunnel.

“Boss, this is the side door.”

“Well …… go.”

Grundy didn’t know which of his words was wrong, so he could only carefully lead the way in front.

But in reality, Wright wasn’t angry with him, but was thinking about whether he had overlooked something.

Just like what Grandmaster said, the current Sanctuary was just a bunch of rabble.

But the Temple that was once there, that was also an existence that stood up to the three great sanctuaries and the Pope’s Palace with a single force.

This kind of organization whose ancestors had been broad, it was hard to say if there were any means left behind that could check and balance the Holy See.

Perhaps, because of the long age and broken heritage, the current members of the Holy Temple no longer knew about these.

But that also meant that it was likely that the Holy See’s side didn’t know either!

That, then, made this an overlooked blind spot, an unknown area shrouded by the fog of war!

“Tch, perhaps that woman ran to consolidate the Holy Temple, looking not at these wallflower councilors, but those unknown underpinnings of the Holy Temple!”

“Huh? Boss, what are you saying?”

Wright waved his hand and came into the main hall after quickly crossing over to Gramps.

Only at this time, the great hall was already empty.

Those councilors had long since run away because they couldn’t stand the taunting and flirting, as well as the rotten eggs and leaves.

“Damn it ……”

As Leite looked around, there were indeed quite a few collections in the great hall.

But he didn’t have much research in this area, he could only identify whether it was useful or not by feeling the energy fluctuations in it.

In this circle, he really found two or three pieces that contained complex spell formations, which were rare magic guides.

Now, the worry in his heart became heavier.

“Hey! Any gasps?”

Wright’s voice echoed in the middle of the council hall, but unfortunately there was no response.

“Boss, take it easy!”

Grundy rushed over, “Our Chamber of Commerce has several council seats in the council! I’ll call them all over here!”

“Call them over, immediately! Also, call over the ones you know and can call over!

Preferably the kind that are exceptionally old! The ones who know the Sanctuary inside and out exceptionally well!”

“Yes, yes, yes!”

Just as Grundy was about to turn around and leave through the small door, suddenly a voice came from among the corners.

“Who ah! Staggering, can’t you see …… this grandpa is sleeping?”

The person who spoke was slurring his words and sounded like he was drunk. Wright followed the voice to seek, and indeed found a drunk man carrying a bottle of wine, collapsed under a huge bronze statue.

“This …… is also a councilor?”

Grundy came over to take a look and nodded his head, “I know this man, his name is Idros and he’s a drunken monstrosity.

Before, he often ran to the eating area of our commercial street to drink and eat overbearing food, then he was blacked out by the Chamber of Commerce.

It is true that he is also a councilor, but …… is a bit out of place with those guys.

It’s said that he hasn’t accepted any of the gifts we sent over.”

Wright raised an eyebrow, “What kind of behavioral logic is there when you’d rather eat a bully’s dinner than accept a gift?”

“Who! Who said I ate overbearing food? Hiccup?”

Idros was still quite unconvinced, “I was paying for it with my poetry! It’s just that those foolish shopkeepers don’t know what they’re talking about!”

Wright looked to Gramps, “Poetry?”

“Yes. The councillors of the Temple are, by definition, the best of all walks of life. Though now corrupted, there are still some capable people.

Some of the artists, in particular, still have some real talent.

This guy, although he’s a wine monger, seems to be a first-rate bard.” “What first-rate! It’s top stream!”

The wine mongoose struggled to sit up and opened his arms full of booze.

“Me! Am an eagle soaring freely in the sky! I want to make the blue sky and white clouds! All hear my loud and high eagle cry!”

Wright suddenly drew out his Sinful Light and slashed it violently and diagonally towards the man’s neck.

The blade cut straight into the base of the bronze sculpture behind Idros, stopping precisely less than half an inch from his neck.

But the sharp chopping wind was still slapping haphazardly at his face.

“Land me, Eagle.”

“Yes sir! No problem sir! Already landed, sir!”

Idros sobered up instantly, his clothes drenched in sweat. It felt like the whole man had sobered up at once.

“You’re a bard, in what way?”

“I’m generalist, sir! Know a bit of everything, sir! Anything you need, please feel free to ask me, sir!”

Wright looked around the room, “Let me ask you, did that new unlucky vice president of yours take anything from here?”

“Sir, the members of parliament here carry out dirty deeds every day, and it’s even more common for them to slip things into their homes.

Did you refer to anything in particular?”

“Ancient!”

“Too …… general, sir?”

As soon as Grundy heard that his boss was looking for something ancient that had disappeared, his eyes immediately began to dart about in the middle of the great hall.

Eventually, as if he had discovered a new continent, he pointed at the largest bronze sculpture in the center of the hall and shouted.

“Nope! It’s gone! That one’s gone!”

“What? What’s gone?”

Wright looked in the direction of his finger, “Whose sculpture is this?”

“Sir, this is the sculpture of the first Temple Council President, Lelister! Alas! It is indeed gone!”

“Tell me instead! What’s gone!”

“The armor! It’s the armor!”

Grundy excitedly pointed at the sculpture, “So on this sculpture, it’s wearing armor! A whole set!”

Wright looked up and down, “It feels like the sculpture is now one piece. Are you sure there was armor originally?”

“There was! I’m too sure! Those grandchildren of the permanent director once asked me for money in the name of maintaining the armor for this sculpture!”

Wright’s gaze fell on Idros, who was immediately blessed.

“Sir, I know all about it! The Lealiste biography I know as well! Do you think you’ll listen to the full version, or the strummed version?
For the strummed version, I’ll have to get my instrument!”

“State it clearly in one hundred and forty words or less!”

“As you wish! Sir!”

Idros took a deep breath, “The legendary Primarch of the Temple, helped the Goddess win the Battle of the Gods. But in order to keep the powers that be in check, a pact was made with the gods.

When the Holy See reneges, when the gods are no longer gracious! Then someone will inherit his will! Clad in his hunting light battle armor!
And save the day!
Less than a hundred words! Is that satisfactory, sir?”

Wright’s brow furrowed, “Kagemitsu Battle Armor?”

“When the light ceases to be gracious to all beings, it hunts, presumably that’s what it means.”

“So, this is an armor that specifically restrains the Holy Light Divine Religion?”

Idros nodded repeatedly, “It is written in the verse of the legend, sir.

But so far, it has only been worn on top of statues in honor of the great deeds of the first Temple Council President, and has never shown any greatness.

Moreover, the bronze statue is three or four meters tall, and the first president is just an ordinary man.

It’s doubtful if this armor is the same one he wore in the beginning!”

Wright cupped his chin and pondered, “Hmmm ……”

It was at this moment that Grundy suddenly called out, “Boss, there’s writing on the base of this sculpture!”
