16. Chapter 16 – Perfect Cut

Chapter 16 – Perfect Cut
“There it is, Ebony Town’s number one slugger! Ah sir!”

Catching Goat wondered, “Is this dude famous upfront?”

“He fought Old Gao hard in his heavily injured state and died in the end at Old Gao’s hands, don’t you think?”

“Crap so powerful? Wait, is it Old Gao in the daytime or at night?”

“Nighttime, but the nighttime Old Gao is at the fourth level. Doesn’t Old Gao have two swords, one is Arthur’s, Yagucheng and Ximen Old Gao now belongs to is.”

Listening to the two people with a mouthful of Old Gao, although he knew that this was mostly a nickname for a certain big shot of Eternal Dawn, Heine always felt strange.

But being able to fight hard with a fourth level combatant, Arthur should be the ceiling of combat power in the Makara region.

Seeing Arthur, George also looked like he had found his backbone, and he was still in the mood to joke:
“Is that your prey? What breed?”

He was referring to the head Arthur was carrying.

“It’s a necromancer.”

Arthur placed the head on the table and swept his gaze over those present.

Especially Heine, and the two miserable-looking skeletons behind him.

He was about to say something when he was suddenly stopped by George.

“Arthur, if it wasn’t for Heine, I might have been a corpse, and you should thank him for that.”

Arthur then blushed slightly.

But he was clearly not the type to immediately change his tune and say thank you, and just nodded slightly apologetically, releasing the slugger’s characteristic goodwill.

Heine didn’t care either, as he stared dead at the head on the table.

In the vision of the dead man’s pupils, there was a silver spot of light in that head ……

His heart was pounding.

After so long, he had gazed at every corpse with his pupil of the dead, and finally saw something familiar again.

“Mr. Arthur, may I ask where the body of this head is? Also can I have this head?”

Arthur froze, he didn’t expect the other party to make such a strange request.

But the thought of being a necromancer made sense.

“You can take it away. The rest of it is over here, just walk two hundred meters, you won’t miss it.”

He pointed in a direction.

“Okay, thanks a lot!”

Heine rode off and returned in less than ten minutes with a blood-stained bundle on his horse’s back.

Anyone could tell he was happy now.

Arthur hadn’t lied, the place really wouldn’t be missed.

Trees were destroyed all around, and in a mound the size of a yarmulke’s name field, a headless body was scattered everywhere.

Unsurprisingly, this corpse also had a bright silver spot of light on it.

……

The news of the Lord’s attack spread quickly, and the hunt was quickly terminated.

Everyone present – with the exception of Heine – was basically scrutinized by Arthur.

Especially Mr. Donald.

Because the only person he had invited had mysteriously disappeared, he said that the other person had a special status but must have had nothing to do with it, and had a fight with Arthur.

Heine was perhaps the most peculiar of the guests present.

For this display of intelligence and bravery, instead of being censored, he was hired by George as a spell consultant.

He hadn’t even touched the letter that Chiara had given him.

George also kept his promise and had a set of finely forged plate armor and a set of standard light chainmail armor selected from the treasury, and also invited him to have dinner at the Viscount’s mansion.

After dinner, the study.

There were only three people here, George, Arthur and Heine.

And the two skeletons in the package behind him, to be precise.

They were missing arms and legs and couldn’t be repaired for a while, so they just packed them up and took them with them, and saved space, and they weren’t heavy anyway.

At this time, George was no longer the laughing and joking look at the dinner party, his face was like the sky before a storm, gloomy and depressing.

Like the low air pressure in this room.

“You first, Arthur.”

“Yes, Lord. Upon investigation, all three came from the Gittille estate, and I found three dead horses in the northwest corner of the hunting grounds, empty bellies and entrails that appeared to have been consumed in some evil ritual.”

The two men looked to Heine, who said:

“I’m guessing it’s the result of a temporary breeding of bloodworms, which the Gitilers are adept at.”

That was still what he had heard from his own undead at dinner.

The two said that the blood sausage at dinner was simply an amplified version of bloodworms, causing him to have little appetite for the rest of the night.

Bang!
Table -30hp.
“Are they trying to declare war on me?”

George’s lips trembled with anger.

Within days of his own father’s death, there was a necromancer family causing trouble under his rule.

This is not to give him eye candy is what to do?
Speaking of which, as a lord he was also quite miserable, the civil force in this world was not subject to constraints, although he had Arthur as the strongest combatant, but with only this person, he could only be a deterrent and could not really do anything.

The adventurers are fine, as long as the management of the silver bazaar, let them make trouble.

But if the Gitilers are really pushed, all the people in the Viscount’s domain will not be able to sleep at night. That was a family of necromancers.

“Lord, maybe they’re coming for me.”

Heine suddenly spoke.

“What?”

“I’m a necromancer, as is my opponent, and I was and am the only one of the guests present who was able to spot my opponent and get to the scene in the first place.

“Assuming I fail to arrive in time, then I am the necromancer closest to you at the time of your death.

“But even if I had managed to save you, I was nearly tuned out later by the same necromancers who were at the scene, and it seems that is what they were after.”

Hearing him say that, both of their faces stared in disbelief.

According to Heine’s hypothesis, there was only one outcome-

Heine would inevitably be torn to pieces by the angry Arthur.

Just like the parcel of broken bodies he picked up ……

Heine actually hid the words, and it was the bloodworm that pounced on George at the last moment.

He didn’t ask the lord if he had any spell-blocking defenses, like Jangrove’s leather armor.

But the bloodworm didn’t look like it would inspire protection.

Once it burrowed into George’s brain and attacked Heine …… the consequences were unimaginable.

Both of them had recognized this conjecture after some thought.

George’s expression eased slightly, though he was still angry.

He frowned and asked, “Your animosity with Gitil is because of the Repulsor Soul Curse?”

Heine, however, shook her head.

“The Repulsive Soul Curse is only the surface cause, I think there is a deeper factor. Do you remember the reason why I participated in the hunt?”

George froze, “Donald?”

“Yes. When he first asked me how I could explain the coincidence of the burial site that night, I was unable to answer, but now I have encountered a similar coincidence.

“I was targeted by the Gitilers because of the soul-repelling curse, and because Mr. Donald had to participate in this hunt.

“Most people have seen him hire a mysterious helper, and in fact I’ve seen her, more than once.”

Heine then recounted the back and forth of his two meetings with Jianglu, including the tree herder at the haunted farm.

“…… I’m pretty sure she expressed horror upon meeting me and then left, immediately after you were attacked and targeted – that’s a bit of a coincidence, isn’t it?

“Of course, Mr. Donald can explain, and I have no direct evidence pointing to him, but I don’t understand how our animosity got to such a point.”

After a slight pause, Heine threw out the point he had been laying out for a long time.

“I think that I mostly did something to threaten him.

“When I think about it, there are only two things.

“I killed Hunter Gitler, crashed the evil ritual he was actively creating, and stopped him from pouring dirty water on Principal Garey while overturning the righteousness of that Holy Light trial.

“The second, was my encounter at the haunted farm, where I seemed to have inadvertently trespassed on some secret occasion, a necromancer family’s farm only, which was actually guarded by elves and tree shepherds ……

“The Gitilers then turned the tables on me in this hunt.

“If these things are connected, is it possible to draw a bold conclusion – the Gitilers have fallen to the Holy Light?”

The four people in the room were shocked at this statement!

Especially the two skeletal heads in the bag.

“I go, this speculation of his is already infinitely close to the standard answer …… Brother Goat do you think he is blindfolded or pushed out?”

“I tend to grab the last straw. If you were a civilian being targeted by the Lord’s handlers, would you still be able to sleep without getting the other side killed?”

“Makes sense, his timing for this cut was …… perfect.”

Heine’s output continued:
“I indeed can’t explain the coincidence of that night in the Burial Ground, and there’s no greater coincidence than why Hunter had just made his move on the front foot, and the Holy Light Judgment arrived afterwards ……

“If he was there to give justice to the Holy Light, then it all makes sense.

“If all my suspicions are true, and Mr. Donald knows all about it, then he is justified in hating me.”

George tapped lightly on the arm of his chair without comment.

His thoughts drifted elsewhere.

Donald had suggested to the old Viscount more than once that someone from the Eternal Dawn should come here to remove the evil filth, but his father had refused on the grounds that it would not be good to upset the balance.

The town of Ebony, or to be precise, the mountains of Makara.

In the past, this was the place where the four kingdoms were at war.

Now, it is a place of balance between the four camps, the only “neutral war zone”.

In the midst of his thoughts, George thought of four days ago.

That beam of great power that lit up the night sky was like a slap in the face.

The holy light was really overbearing.

George suddenly asked, “Arthur, when His Lordship was still alive, did Mr. Donald often bring a middle-aged man to see him?”

“Yes, that was a master gardener who often handled flowers and plants for His Lordship.”

“Heh, a master gardener? How interesting.”
