Chapter 722: Murphy! Tell me the truth, did you give Pa
Chapter 720 719.Murph! Tell me the truth, did you brainwash Pa Ying?
When Murphy walked out of the bedroom with a refreshed mind, he came face to face with Venerable Lord Paying who was sitting on the mechanical seat of the monitoring station.
His first reaction was anger.
Good you Thousand Year Venerable Lord, how come a great person of your rank still has such a terrible vice as listening to the walls?
But then the second reaction was horror.
Because he saw that the Exalted Lord was maneuvering those very complicated Creator technologies in a much more skillful and professional gesture than he, a proper exhibition hall curator, and even the various surveillance that he had never been able to fully turn on himself had been turned on smoothly.
The Exalted Lord was also continuously inputting new commands, seemingly adjusting the program operation of the Swamp Exhibition Hall.
As Murphy approached, he saw that a sub-program called “Office Efficiency Optimization” was called out by His Holiness from the exhibition hall’s program library, and used a long list of identification codes to bypass the curator’s authority, so that it was automatically activated into operation.
“So, after your memories were activated, your high-level authority as a member of the Eden District Management Committee was also retrieved?”
Murphy asked in a small voice.
Venerable Lord Paying, who was typing different commands on the virtual keyboard to observe the current status of legendary creatures around the world through the monitoring probes, nodded, but then shook his head as he replied softly:
“What the pilot-type purification program ‘Beta’ formatted away when it was activated was not only the memories of all Eden District survivors, but it also initialized everyone’s permissions in the Eden District Management System. Theoretically, I’m just a mediocre vampire now, only having been given temporary visitor privileges by you earlier.
But I remember those special identifiers of mine, so I can activate some higher-order functions in a limited space.
Also, Lord Alpha, out of the advice of your elders, it would be best if you don’t give up ‘control’ entirely to Tris while you’re entertaining.
The Scarlet Witch’s mental state is not stable, and in case she loses control in the midst of extreme pleasure, it would only take a few seconds for her to drain your blood, and it would be very difficult to recover quickly from injuries in that situation.
But with the current situation in the world, we need a healthy Alpha on standby.”
“Uh.”
The fact that His Holiness said such words in such a calm tone made Murphy, a young man, a bit embarrassed, but it was a bit too much to ask such a young guy to try to “tame” a four-hundred year old lioness in some kind of occasion.
“Well, let’s not talk about that, young people pay attention to moderation is good, more entertainment is also good for Tris’s situation, but in moderation.
Now watch this search program!”
Venerable Lord Paying turned around in his mechanical chair, pulling it halfway out of the way in a classic social animal gesture, and pointed to a particular search program that was operating at the bottom of the optical projection screen.
He said seriously to Murphy:
“You must keep an eye on this program at all times, it’s a reconnection request to the AI ‘Eden’, the former management core of the Eden Sector, I can’t confirm if it will respond, but once it does, you must notify me first.”
“Wait! The core AI?”
Murphy exclaimed.
He asked rhetorically:
“You’re confirming that something that outrageous is still operating now, over a thousand years after the destruction of the Eden Zone?”
“Yes, I’m sure.”
The Venerable Lord sighed and said:
“A portion of its current sub-threads are located in Port Chardonnay, called ‘Mechanical Evil’ or ‘Mechanical Spirit’ by the halflings there, and I’ve noticed some of its peculiar behaviors more than once in the last thousand years.
I can’t be sure of this AI’s current condition, but I think it’s likely that the Beta Purification program that I initiated in the first place also corrupted Eden’s data integrity.
This means that this core AI was actually partially infected during that subspace invasion.
That makes it fraught with danger.
You can’t just make contact with it, but if we can reconnect with Eden, then we can potentially reboot some of the artifacting equipment that still exists on the continent.
For example, I know that there are still backup devices from the Golden Age that are fairly intact in certain deep areas of the Spectral Regions, but all of those things would have to be authenticated by the core AI first to be activated, and especially with all of the Ancient Ones’ permissions currently cleared out, you’re the only one who can activate them without any problems.”
“And Dusk!”
Murphy said as he leaned to one side of the desk, his eyes narrowed:
“Dusk has undoubtedly seized some of the things left to me by the Creator, I can be sure of that, but didn’t you team up with Salokdar to move all those secret stores to the Holy Blood in the first place?
Could it be that Dusk entered the Land of Sacred Blood?”
“It’s possible.”
Venerable Lord Paying sat in his mechanical chair and casually snapped his fingers, and the curator’s assistant, Iron Beetle Three, delivered a cup of coffee at the right temperature to him.
Like a social animal posturing, the Venerable Lord took a sip of the coffee and said again at Murphy’s subtle gaze:
“Of course there is a greater possibility!
There are members in the Dusk who were on Eden’s governing council back in the day, or were aided by messages left behind by some of them.
You should know, now that you’ve seen that memory, that Salokdar and I were always limited in our covert operations.
We couldn’t go up against the resources that the entire committee possessed, and perhaps without my knowledge, my companions from back then have found the Creator’s secret storehouse.
But you can rest assured, Murphy.
The decryption privileges the Creator has given you are quite high, so high that even the members of the committee have to rely on the exhaustive method of decrypting information about the program, which means that even if Dusk got their hands on those dangerous things in this era, it would be very difficult for them to use the special equipment that belongs to you as if it were their own.
However, the leakage of creation knowledge is a really big problem.
Ratmen.
That new race that destroyed the Black Flame Pass and is likely attacking Fortress Brass by now is definitely a product of the Creator’s genetic tech modulation, and there’s at least one faction in the Dusk that specializes in it.”
“Their leader is called ‘The Scholar’.”
Murphy took out those texts captured earlier and showed them to Venerable Lord Paying, who’s expression worsened the more he looked at them, until he finally clenched his fists and said:
“We can’t let them continue to waste this power that should be used for world recovery like this, we must take action immediately, send some elites to track down the clues of this Scholars faction while the Black Plague is going on, and make sure to destroy the core laboratories that they occupy.
The Rats are just the beginning.
Once they have finished molding a race, then more dangerous things will follow, and most importantly, if the Eden District is destroyed by vampire experiments attempting to create perfect beings, then Twilight’s wantonness could very well lead to a repeat of the tragedy.
My guess is that the Sentinels won’t be able to save the day this time.”
“So, what exactly is the Sentinel Legion?”
Murphy pressed:
“Surely a chief like you who was in a high position back in the Golden Age knows information about them?”
“I don’t know much, it’s a full-fledged unit of the Creator that operates independently of the Eden Sector.”
Venerable Lord Paying did not hide it in this situation.
He explained:
“In the three hundred years between the arrival of us Star Ocean exiles in this world and the collapse of the Golden Era, the Eden Sector and the Sentinel Legion wouldn’t have exchanged more than ten communications, and most of them were routine reports.
They were very secretive.
There is a special Defender Sequence that interfaces with them in the Eden Sector, and Oksana belongs to the cadre of the Defender Sequence, which is why she was able to send a distress command to invite the Sentinel Legion into the fray during the subspace invasion of the Eden Sector.
I just read some of the decrypted documents.
The primary mission of the Sentinel Legion is to watch over the security of this world in place of the Creator, followed by arching the mysterious Heart of the World, and protecting us Lost Ones doesn’t even make up the top five of their mission sequence I guess, so their indifference is understandable.
I actually suspect that the Sentinel Legion was behind a series of great events hidden in history that happened after the collapse of the Golden Age.”
“I know!”
Murphy suddenly recalled the image he had seen earlier in the message from Linwood’s Holy Grail, and he said thoughtfully:
“The birth of the new gods! Your Holiness, have you heard of the ‘Borderlands Contract’?
I once saw that scene in the Forest Wood Chalice of Avalon, when it was just the spirit beings of the Astral Giant Spirits completing their meeting with the strange man in the light, and they agreed to this pact, and then those spirit beings used the chalice to drink the ‘Wine of the Denizens of the Gods’, and then they threw the chalice into the material world again. It was the Legion of Sentinels that shaped the new gods of today.
Avalon, Sue, Gaia, Ao, Leviathan, etc., all of these gods were born at that time, and according to my Astral Guardian’s revelation, this event would have happened 40 years after the collapse of the Golden Age.
I suspect that the Sentinels traded the Dengen gods in exchange for the New Gods fighting the dangerous Subspace Shadows on the battlefields of Subspace.”
“Well, it looks like you’ve found more and more amazing things than I thought.”
Venerable Lord Paying nodded as he said:
“So, you can access the mysteries about these things by touching the Holy Grail of the Gods?”
“Yes, but at the moment, I have only found the Forest Grail of Avalon.”
Murphy didn’t hide anything as he said:
“Every god should have left a message, and Avalon warned me that the situation of the gods’ battlefield wasn’t optimistic, which proves that subspace didn’t give up on continuing to pollute this world after destroying the Golden Era.
But I am puzzled, does anything exist in this world that He must get His hands on?”
“There is.”
Venerable Lord Paying hesitated for a moment, he glanced at Murphy and said:
“Next I’m going to tell you some secret stories about the Creator, this is a secret that only the members of the Eden District are qualified to access, don’t just spread it around.
Us.
To be precise, most of the current civilized races on this continent are not the natives of the world, our true homeland has been destroyed in the cosmic-level disaster called ‘The Great Extinction’, and it was the Creator who saved us, the Lost Ones, in that cycle of crisis.
He is merciful.
Not only did He save the last spark of civilization, but He also prepared a new home for us exiles.
But you have to understand that the number of the Lost Ones is so large that not a single world can carry them, and according to those ancient memories in my mind, the Lost Ones who landed on this world were only the vanguard of the universe’s recovery.
Our task is to complete the transformation of the world and to guide the Lost Ones who follow in rebuilding their civilization.
This world is special, and the Creator left here not only some power and knowledge, but also the coordinates and information of those other worlds for the Lost Ones.
Once the Subspace Shadows got their hands on that information, He could carry out large-scale precision invasions and destructions of this created universe without limitations.
The Creator’s ideal of wanting everything to flourish would thus go bankrupt.
To put it more dramatically, whether or not we can withstand the invasion of subspace will directly correlate to the future of the entire universe .
However, our world recovery operation eventually went wrong.
It’s hard for me to imagine that the fleets of other Lost Ones have already departed; after all, the original plan was for the recovery to take only 300 years, and now a full 1,400 years have passed.
Alas, those things are too far away from us now, Murph, let’s focus on the task at hand.”
“Hmm.”
Murphy nodded.
In his heart, he frantically spat out that this Creator was also unreliable in his work, you set such a grand recovery plan, but you yourself ran away, and left the plan to a group of guys who had playfully crashed their world.
This is what kind of big heart ah.
However, in the face of the dilemma that Venerable Lord Paying was contemplating at this time, Murphy actually had a solution, he said:
“I’ve already formed a small organization to deal with the dusk threat, the members in it are all quite promising at the moment, but I think we need an excellent commander like you to lead us, it just so happens that the source faction should be quiet for a period of time after suffering heavy blows one after the other, and we can focus on tracking down and striking down the scholars’ faction next.
I entrusted Lady Shani to track down the great psychic master ‘Dragon Flame Lina’ of the Plastic Energy Department who was falsely accused by the Tower of the Ring and fled, as you saw just now, there are some members of the Scholar Faction who came from the Tower of the Ring.
If we can get that Spiritual Energy Master, who was almost killed, to step in, our tracking might go a little smoother.
I’m curious though, you’ve been fighting Dusk for a hundred years, don’t you have a clearer idea of their organizational structure?”
“There is.”
The Exalted Lord sort of opened his words today, in the past, he could not be seen saying so many words.
But perhaps it was the influence of those ancient memories that had transformed his cold personality a little, as he sipped his coffee and said softly:
“The leader of the dusk is nicknamed ‘the head monk’, it was he who single-handedly established this organization, I now suspect that this guy is a certain big shot from the civilization camp in the fourth black plague, he came into contact with the power of subspace during the war and was corrupted.
His assistant is called ‘Sister’ and is currently lurking in the human civilization camp.
I can be sure of this, and Old Edward and I let Lady Cecilia operate in the Wolfsbane Clan just to confirm the identity of the ‘Sister’.
Further down the line, the structure of the Twilight comes in the form of factions.
The older factions are the Source, the Wilderness, and the Scholars, while the rest are newer factions that have only appeared in the last decade, and indeed, the rampant activity of the Dusk has only begun in the last decade.
To be precise, the Fall of the Old Religion is the most out-of-the-ordinary thing they’ve done in the last hundred years, and that also represents the near-completion of their machinations on the continent, finally beginning to call out their evil masters with great fanfare.”
Speaking here, Venerable Lord Paying paused.
He said to Murphy:
“I know you’re casting aspersions on why I just watched and didn’t act, but I actually did something, Murphy, the Dusk was in hiding in the Old Continent, but they did things in the New Continent that you can’t even imagine.
Remember when Old Finok went undercover for a while?
Aren’t you curious as to what Old Finok did under Dusk’s lure to get to be able to make that White Knight near-all-consuming?”
Murphy immediately smelled a secret.
He looked at Venerable Lord Paying, who took a sip of coffee and said softly:
“Massacre! The natives of the New Continent were almost slaughtered by the adventurers secretly driven by these bastards, who have committed untold evils there, and according to the reports from the Blood Alliance Knights I sent to the New Continent, one of the native kingdoms over there was almost wiped out by them.
I was wondering what these cultists were looking for in that barbaric continent before, but I can confirm it now.
Their goal is the Heart of the World!
Murphy.
The Heart of the World is somewhere in the New Continent, and I even suspect that Dusk has found the place, but they can’t get in! That’s the main reason for their frantic actions in the Old Continent this decade.
They’re trying to break the Sentinel Legion and the Creator’s blockade on the Heart of the World.
I guess that’s why the Administrator program picked you.
Alpha, this is your battlefield!
You, the only one given administrator privileges in this era, must stop those subspace lapdogs from gaining access to the World’s Heart, and you’re the only one on this continent who can do that at the moment.”
“I’m more than willing, I have a lot of scores to settle with them.”
Murphy leaned against the workbench as he said:
“But I can’t do this on my own, the Black Plague’s threat to Transylvania alone is enough to burn me out.”
“So I will transfer the main force of the Blood League Knights to you and fight as one of Transylvania.”
Venerable Lord Paying whispered:
“You need the population, right? You’ve got the Sovereign Army to yourself as well, it’s not a lot of people, but a little bit is a little bit, right? Let me know if you need any help now, and I will do what I can to help you. Not just because this war will eventually change the world, but because we have both uncovered a corner of the Golden Age.
Knowing those truths means responsibility.
You and I both know that the confrontation with the Twilight has gone beyond the concept of war, and I have wondered how much we have to pay for it.
As it stands, it seems we’ll have to stake everything we have, and it won’t be enough.
It’s not nearly enough.”
