541.Chapter 539: 538 If You Ask, I Will Respond

Chapter 539 538.If You Ask, I Will Respond

Tris had commented pungently about prophets many times, and Murphy thought for a moment that Tris’s venom for prophecy must have come from the fact that she had been victimized by prophecy more than once before.

According to Tris, the prophets on the continent are a bunch of godly fellows, their sanity has been tortured apart in their peeps into the future, and their minds are trapped in the visions of disaster and can’t rest.

They are fish blessed by destiny can poke their heads out in the river of time, free from their deluded lives to steal a glance at the stream of destiny that has long been mapped out.

But they are also cursed outcasts, for the future they peek into may not be real, and even if it is, they cannot know what to do to make that future come true.

It’s quite a terrible strain!

It’s never easy to read fate, an obscure prophecy can take years or even a decade to parse, and the saddest part is that many a poorly learned seer has seen the future come to life before they’ve even gotten to the bottom of the prophecy.

For better or worse, they are too late to make preparations.

How do you describe this feeling?
It’s as if you dreamed that you would win millions of dollars in the lottery or even dreamed of the exact winning numbers but were missing that one digit, and at the moment when you were full of joy trying to discern the last digit so that you could be on your way to the top of the ladder, you saw an asshole at the door of the lottery store who was squeezing the ticket that would bring happiness in learning to gorilla bark and riding face output at you.

Ah, look!

I’m penniless when I can’t see the future, and I’m still penniless when I do see the future, so didn’t I fucking read it for nothing?
That’s the biggest problem plaguing prophets.

They can only see, they can rarely change, and what’s more, every peek into the river of destiny comes at a price. In this continent full of psychic spells and fallen wonders, the price to be paid for wanting to see the future is definitely not as simple as missing a lottery ticket either.

This is the marvelous Tris’s Prophecy Spit.

The scarlet witch’s attitude towards prophets, seers and soothsayers has always been like this, but even for Tris, who detests prophecy magic so much, when she talks about the Shadow Elves’ “specialty unit”, the Fate Weaver Girls, she will also bring a subtle sense of approval that says, “This seat admits that you are indeed very strong”. The following are some of the most important things you should know about the Shadow Elves.

When she traveled the continent, she had dealt with the Life Weaver Maidens a few times, and she admitted that these Spider Priestesses of the Spider Lady did have a couple of brushes.

And now, Murphy had also personally experienced the Weaving Fate Maiden’s toughness in this regard.

The Velancer in front of her didn’t see the truth that Murphy was a hung-over person, but she did parse the prophecy that the Vampire Governor would surely be involved in the world change without a teacher and acted on it with great power.

In the case of Murphy has not yet in the continent on the stage of the grandeur of the situation, Vilantha has already come a long way to become “from the dragon’s servant”.

She really picked a quite perfect time to sell herself to Murphy, now the Governor General’s command seriously lacks high-end power, once her talent is accepted, she will immediately be reused.

But therein lies the problem.

She had to convince Murphy to accept her, a really difficult job.

Because what she’s praying for is trust.

This is a much more difficult feeling to obtain than mere allegiance and recognition, in order to realize this, the first time she met Villanther almost put away all the bad habits of a shadow elf, and behaved like a holy moon elf, standing humbly in front of Murphy and waiting for the “future master” to ask her questions.

To use an inappropriate description to describe Villanther’s current state, it was like a humble female licking dog.

However, what she got in return for her humility was still Murphy’s skeptical gaze.

This was normal.

Anyone with a brain in this situation wouldn’t put their trust in a woman they hadn’t even known for half an hour, especially if this woman had six hands and was a Shadow Elf.

Negative buffs almost iterated all over the place belonged to yes.

“First you tell me, what is going on in the city of Medjevar?”

Murphy asked, rubbing his brow:

“That’s one of the Thirteen Families of the Shadow Elves, the top pillar of the Shadow Elf civilization, and I’ve learned from one of my trusted friends that you’ve been guarding the road leading from the Eternal Rift Valley to the Dark Mountain Range for hundreds of years.

You are the local hegemon, even the jackals don’t dare to mess with you, you have a powerful city and hundreds of thousands of clansmen who obey you, and that’s not even counting the smaller clans that are dependent on you.

You were the most powerful group of people in the Shadow Elves, so why did you see such a sudden overthrow?”

“Sudden indeed, like a disaster without warning.”

Murphy’s mentioning of this matter caused even the Velanthar in front of him, who was trying to maintain his humility, to reveal a trace of just the right amount of pain and sadness, and this theater lady who was very good at camouflage sighed and said:
“No one knows when the first wave of attacks took place or what happened before that, all I remember is that by the time I came to my senses from the escort of my male favorites ahem, my guards, the city of Medjevar was a third of the way down.

And that was just under ten minutes past the start of the battle.

The earth was wailing, the city was shaking, the Spider Temple of the Mejva family even sank into the chasm, the entire city was torn apart by the vicious beasts that poured out of the ground, and countless people had lost their lives before they could even react.

The fallen ethnicities that crawled out of the darkness swept through all parts of the city like a storm.

The horrific sounds of chewing and gnawing were everywhere, and I’m not going to lie, I was terrified at the time.

The clan’s warriors and commanders went mad and rallied soldiers everywhere, but before they could reorganize their forces, the disaster entered its second phase, horrific subterranean meteorites were summoned to smash into the city, and I swear I saw a horde of burning humanoid monsters amidst the flames of that astral realm, charging across the landscape, with nothing at all to stop them!

Those invading madmen didn’t care about casualties among their own people, it seemed their only goal was to take our city, but they didn’t care if it was intact or not.

The temple I live in was hit by three meteorites.

The chaotic aura of the astral realm overwhelmed my guards, and it was all I could do to steel myself to bring my weapons and try to stand out.

I hacked and slashed my way out of the city and called for help from the rest of my peers through the secret arts of the Fate Weaver Maiden, but it was then that fate suddenly showed me the way forward.

The Spider Lady spoke to me!

She whispered in my ear and demanded that I travel to Transylvania immediately.

He said the future was there.

As you, handsome one, can see, humble as I obviously am, I was a sincere cleric, and without any hesitation I gave up contacting others and rushed out of the city, already surrounded by destruction, alone, and reassembled a group of terrified family members on the dark roads of the Eternal Rift, leading them all the way to Transylvania.

Just as I entered the barren mountain, I caught another ripple of the current of destiny.

I saw your warriors slaughtering dangerous jackal warlocks in the flames.

I saw them traveling with ancient giant serpents.

I have also seen the handsome You walk with unparalleled majesty in the supreme glory of the Creator.

And so, I knew I could not go forward.

If I recklessly enter the filthy swamp, I will surely spoil the victory You have already planned.

So, my followers and I stayed in the Barren Hills, found the gladiators and their descendants again who had fled the city of Medjevar more than sixty years ago, bought a small village from them then waited in silence for our fate to be fulfilled.

That’s all there is to the story.”

Velanthar humbly interlaced her hands iteratively on her flat stomach, but she had four more hands hanging low at her side, a gesture like that of a lady-in-waiting in the service of her master.

Murphy was certain that Velanthar had not told the full story of her experience, but what she did tell should be true, for the energy of desire had seeped silently into the mind of the life-weaving maiden from the moment she had opened her mouth.

Murphy wasn’t just listening to her description with his ears, the Weaving Life Maiden’s mind revealed that this was the case.

“I don’t actually care if we can agree on a partnership with that group of gladiator descendants.”

The Fate Weaver Maiden said softly:

“They’re just a bunch of dispensable wretches who think they have a choice, but in reality they don’t have a choice at all now that the Black Plague is coming. The only proper path to destiny is to fall into your warm embrace like the humble me and fight for your supreme will!
But they are too stupid to see through the guidance of fate and are not as intelligent and obedient as I am.

You have no need of them, Master Murphy.

With a nod of your head, I and my followers will become your deadly vanguard.

I began selecting your servants when I fled that corrupt city to my true destiny, and though my followers are few in number, there are fully thirty Sword Bards among those two hundred or so, and the rest are assassins and psionicists trained by the House of Mejva.

I will not choose weaklings to join my ranks, for I know that you do not need weaklings to serve you.

The best part is that all of their hearts have been crushed by the disaster, and as long as you accept them, they will soon become your loyal servants.

And if all this is not proof of my burning heart to serve, then I will also tell you that the Sacred Blade of Nature, which fell into the hands of the Matriarch of the House of Merjewa, and which once belonged to the Church of Avalon, was hidden by me on the way we came. I would gladly offer the Blasted Bow as a gift if you would only ask.
Ah, look at the folly of my humble self!
It was meant to be a treasure given to you by fate, and we are merely returning it to its rightful owner.”

She stopped her fawning and singing words and looked at Murphy with those strange black and white eyes full of anticipation, while the Vampire Governor maintained his silence, he had to admit that it felt very good to be sung so much praise by a beautiful female lickspittle, it was no wonder that so many dimwitted kings couldn’t resist sycophant’s boasting.

But Murphy at least maintained his sanity, and it was several minutes before he returned his rapier to its scabbard and said in an odd tone:
“Are all of you life-weaving maidens this articulate? Look at that speech, it makes me feel like I’d be doing myself a disservice if I didn’t take you in. But the thing is, no one likes a betrayer, Ms. Velanthar.

If you can betray your family and throw yourself under the wing of an unknown vampire just because of a prophecy, then I also fear that in the future, if you receive another oracle, will you not have no hesitation in leaving me for someone else?

I realize it is inappropriate to discuss this now.

But I think we need to sort this out before we begin our next step.”

“The fact that your concern is real is a testament to your wisdom, and it would be simple enough to resolve it.”

Velanthar let out an imperious laugh as she stepped forward, pulling back the already small amount of clothing from her shoulders, revealing her delicate collarbone as she said:

“Then prove my scorching loyalty with a supreme liaison of blood, Lord Murphy, come, devour my blood to make me your heir, and I will lose myself in doing so to become a loyal servant at your disposal.

That would be a horrible end for any reasonable man, but fortunately for me, my god has given me the grace to allow me to temporarily deviate from her woven destiny at this very moment, and that’s exactly the kind of treatment I crave at the moment.

Come on.

There is no need for pity; devour it with great gusto.

I’m a Shadow Elf, you know. We like pain and we enjoy it.

As for servants.
I guess all those tricks I have seen and learned in the city of Medjevar in my 313 years of life were all in preparation for me to better fulfill my duties in your service.”

Speaking of which, the life-weaving maiden, who had been disguised as a proper person just a moment ago, finally showed her proper posture as a Shadow Elf, looking at Murphy’s incredibly handsome face and licking her lips as she felt her body seem to heat up.

She said:

“Do you want to ‘inspect the goods’ first? Master.

Shall I be tested first to see if I have the skills to be your loyal servant?

See, I have prepared everything in advance.

Darkened cells, clean beds, sacrificial robes that can be easily torn, charms for enhanced pleasures, barbed whips, sharp knives and spiked collars”

“Please don’t say any more! If you say any more you won’t make it through the trial.”

Murphy was sensible enough to terminate the life-weaving girl who was displaying an increasingly outrageous nature, and he waved his hand in reprimand:

“I don’t want to understand you for a second at all, I’m still trying to maintain the last bit of purity in the life of the vampire I’ve fallen into at midnight, so if you’re eager to serve me put away these immodest jibes.

It will make me feel like a little boy surrounded by evil older sisters who are laughing at me.

They say you Shadow Elves are ‘ahead’ of the entire continent in this regard, and I’ve finally learned first hand that you guys really have this thing down to a ‘horrible’ art from every angle.

But you are a priest, a cleric.

Would Lady Spider really allow me to take your faith? And your true form doesn’t seem to be able to accommodate the transformation that the blood of the sinful descendants has done to you.”

“Only the body level will not be transformed, but the soul can be bound.”

Velanthar said, shaking his head:

“The power of the Maiden of Weaving Lives comes from the gift of the Spider Lady’s divine power, and our bodies are molded into vessels for the Spider Lady’s divine power in the material world, ready for the Lady’s descent at any time, which is a power the Blood of the Sinful Descendants can’t erase either!

I will not become a vampire like the rest of your servants.

But your bestowal will change the attributes of my power, moving me from the realm of toxins and corruption into the heavenly realm of shadow and blood.

This change in power attributes will not make me weaker, but it does change me into your blood servant.

The utility of the Midnight Blood Pact will not be affected.

As for faith, as I have just said, I came here at the very request of the Lady of Spiders, and it is clear that the Lady is watching over you, and this blazing attention from the abyss will allow me to leave her divine realm and enter your shadow.

My body and my being will belong to you, but my mind still belongs to the Lady Spider.”

“Ha, I see, you will be the eyes of the Spider Lady!”

Murphy nodded and shrugged his shoulders:
“It’s like the God of the North Wind and the Holy Spirit of the East, who placed their eyes beside me in order to follow and participate in my life and destiny.

But I have one last question.

Not about you, but about Ms. Spider.

A friend of mine is wondering what exactly is the relationship between Ms. Spider and the other faces of Avalon. It is a question in the field of theology, and its answer may bring that friend of mine new inspiration in this field.”

“There is no one else here, Master, and you may say graciously that that is the answer you wish to know, and it is not possible for me to inform anyone else but you of this divine mystery.

Know this, but anyone who dares to bring up this blasphemous question in the presence of a follower of the Spider Lady, he or she or it will be cut down immediately, the body chopped up and fed to the beasts of Loth, and the soul will be the price of the Life-Weaving Maiden’s peek into the future.

Yet handsome and majestic you are special.

You are always special, you enjoy all the privileges of the world, and your humble servants will tell you everything you want to know.

If You ask, I will answer.”

Villanther was clearly a woman who was very good at snaking her way up the pole, and despite the fact that she hadn’t yet made the blood pact, she had already begun to address Murphy by master.

So naturally, without a hint of awkwardness, as if she was Murphy’s servant from birth.

Well, what a terrifying woman from every angle.

She approached Murphy’s ear, and just like flirting, she stretched out that flexible tongue and drew a circle next to the vampire’s ear, before speaking:

“The Spider Lady represents darkness, the other faces are the light that the cowardly Avalon longs for, He was originally a giant spirit of the astral realm full of hope and harnessing natural new life, but He fought too long in the Abyss and so He was looked back at by the Abyss as well.

So pure and so magnificent God also saw the darkness born in His heart, He couldn’t accept it and even wanted to kill Himself, but at this most critical moment, Ms. Spider appeared!
In place of the cowardly Avalon, She took on those terrible darkness and depravity, allowing hope and new life to continue to shine in the abyss of subspace.

Yet the brighter the light, the stronger the darkness.

The theologians of the material world cannot fathom this sublime relationship, and Ms. Spider is not the pathetic face of Avalon, my lord! The Spider Lady is the shadow of Avalon, the other side of Him, that which is the entanglement of darkness and light, the bond of destruction and hope, the one antithesis and invisible twin born of contradiction.

Ms. Spider clearly disliked Avalon’s cowardice, and Avalon wanted to get rid of Ms. Spider’s increasingly greedy draw, and one day the two great beings would say goodbye to each other and open up a new destiny.

But the gods cannot harm themselves, and it is not so easy for them to separate.

ME.
I am a servant of the Spider Lady, and it is only right that I dedicate everything to the Lady’s desires, as I am doing now.

The Lady thinks you can help Him.

And what’s so ironic and fateful in this case is that the cowardly Avalon also thinks you can help Him.

Lo and behold, light and darkness actually chose the same person without warning when they battled each other in the Abyss, which means that you have a doomed and difficult choice to make in the future, and well, my Supreme Master is such a marvelous vampire.”

Velanther breathed in Murphy’s ear as she said:
“Beware of the other gods, Master, He is not setting His sights on you out of mere curiosity, trust me, He has His own agenda, and the gods are not to be trusted, with the exception of Ms. Spider.

Unfortunately, I am but a humble mortal, and my prying eyes for destiny have already burdened me with too much, and for your safety, I can only say what I can.

So, master, may we begin the blood contract?
Can we have a little excitement?

My heart rolls so hot with my body that I clearly cannot wait to embrace my new life.”
