443.Chapter 441: 440 Sadness, the first kiss that has been treasured for twenty years is just this
Chapter 441 440.Sad, the first kiss that has been treasured for twenty years is just gone? -I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.
(For brother “Yu Xiaoho” [2/25])
Hogg rode his wolf and his guards out of Plague Town with his head hanging down, but as soon as he entered the swamp, this guy’s expression immediately became happy.
That shoehorned face was just like performing face art, the change of expression was so natural that one had to wonder if this jackal’s skin was hiding a cunning goblin soul underneath?
“Lord Murphy, my mission is complete.”
Chief Hogg, codenamed “Pangolin”, cheered from his wolf.
The guards beside him were also wearing relaxed expressions, these were Hogg’s diehards, they might not have much love for vampires, but like Hogg, they could understand how bad it was that the jackals of the dark mountain range despised and oppressed them.
The vampires of Transylvania all seemed so warm and fuzzy in comparison.
“Chief, now we can finally retreat back to the smuggler’s woodlands to ignore all the bad things going on in the outside world, right?”
A resourceful guard said heartily:
“These days are too worrying, dealing with these Plague Clan guys is so much harder than hanging around under Kenport’s command, we’ve already helped the vampires get all the locations of the Plague Town’s fortifications, we’ve given them all the information they need, we shouldn’t go on any longer.
We can’t afford to mess with either of these parties!”
“Hmph, you’re still thinking about it.”
Hogg, who was riding on the seat wolf, said contemptuously:
“It’s just that our brains are poor, we’ve already chosen a side, my dear clan, right now, besides following Lord Murphy to the black, there’s no second path left for us on this land.
Forget it.
I don’t expect you to be able to figure out such complicated things, but you can finally live in peace without the need for our people to go out in force for the next few days.
When you get back, tell Nash to adjust his deployment, move the sentry posts near the Cato side back, and don’t come into too much contact with the Silans who are about to set up camp over there.
They’re not like Lord Murphy’s warriors, they don’t realize the key role we’re playing in this swamp war, and I don’t want to gutter up.”
“Chief, we don’t have to fear them at all!”
The other jackal prowler carrying a decapitating machete snorted and said contemptuously:
“Relying on your leadership, our barbarian soldiers are all fat and well-equipped! We also have a sufficient number of dog-headed ground-occupying divisions, and we still have the skeleton army given to us by the Plague Clan in our hands.
I admit that we can’t be a match for Lord Murphy and his warriors, but the district Silanians, they dare to enter our forest, they will surely be made to have no return!”
“That’s true, but a real fight would be disastrous.”
Hogg scoffed at this kind of inflated mentality, as a Jackal Chief who had systematically studied the history of the continent, Hogg was well aware that its clan’s current strength was not enough to support their arrogance.
Perhaps it was true that the expeditionary vanguard of the Silans couldn’t do anything to them, but once they actually provoked the Kingdom of the Golden Canary Flower, King Louie’s wrath would overwhelm their tiny clan in a matter of moments.
That’s why.
Keep a low profile!
We must keep a low profile at this stage.
What’s more, judging from the current situation, there’s nothing wrong with being a dog for Lord Murphy!
The entire clan was well-fed and doing well, and as long as they continued this correct strategy, picking up some scraps behind Lord Murphy’s invincible warriors would be good enough.
“Besides, isn’t there a big ‘inheritance’ waiting for us?”
Hogg let out an odd chuckle as he looked back from his seat-wolf saddle to the plague town behind him, which had been shrouded out of sight by the mists, and he narrowed his eyes.
This town and this swamp .
Humans would not be able to live here for long, even the toughest warrior would be broken by the terrible conditions of the filthy swamp, yet the jackals loved the humidity and the rotten mud.
In other words, once Lord Murphy owned this place, it Hogg could also take advantage of it.
It was a bit of a fool’s errand to have the entire swamp under its command, but holding Plague Town in its hands would instantly expand the Bloodclaw Clan’s territory by more than twice as much, with the core of the Clan being relocated here and the Smuggler’s Woodlands becoming their frontier.
Heh heh.
“Lord Hogg Bones, Lord of the Swamp,” that’s an awesome title.
–“Lord Hogg Bitebone of Plague Town.
“The jackal warlocks of Plague Town are shrinking their defenses; they have removed all twenty-six of their outlying posts in the last seven days, leaving only a mediocre army of skeletons to hold them.
If they aren’t preparing to retreat, it’s enough to show that these Jackals are definitely about to make a big move.”
Atop a giant dwarf tree rooted into a mud puddle in the Filthy Swamp, Scout Ambo put down the binoculars with psychic energy attached in his hand and said to Bull, who was crouching beside him to maintain his vigilance:
“It’s time for our scouting operation to come to an end after all, and the information we’ve gathered now together with the layout map brought back by Hogg’s Bloodclaw Clan is enough for Lord Murphy to launch a surprise attack war.
But unfortunately, we still can not find the direction of the jackals are about to march, this swamp deep in the forbidden area of a large range, not personally go into a trip it is difficult to judge the specific route of the
I speak you listen to it?
Why are you always staring at me? Is there something dirty on my face?”
“Uh, nothing.”
The questioned Ox coughed as he said in a serious voice:
“You’re a scout and I’m not, I’m just an escort who ran here to keep you safe, I’m sure I don’t understand what you’re saying, but looking at how confident you are, I guess you must have already come to a foolproof conclusion, so can we leave now?”
Speaking of which, Bull moved his shoulders uncomfortably as he spat:
“This life in the swamp can be too bad, I’ve had enough of the damned environment here, and although not bathing won’t cause much of an effect, my body is going to stink.
I can’t even stand it as a big man, I really don’t know how you, a girl’s family, put up with it.”
“What is this?”
Ambrosia was amused by Niu Niu’s “rich brother’s speech”, and as she packed her things into her traveling bag, she said:
“In the early part of the Ten Years’ War, we were sent to fight the mountain people in the mountains of the Sax region, and even though it was a forest, the environment there was no better than a filthy swamp.
I remember Natalie and I huddled in a cave for two months just like that, and I felt elevated after coming out of the forest alive.
A pampered guy like you can’t possibly understand that kind of cruelty, even not being able to take a bath is considered a form of torture by you, Niu Niu, although you are getting stronger and stronger, your mentality hasn’t changed yet.
Still a rich kid, pretty much the same as a dude in my opinion.”
“Huh? I’m still considered a rich kid?”
Bull grunted, getting up to help Ambrosia put away the scouting equipment set up on the trunk of a short tree as he whispered:
“I’m already in the brown guy category on our side, you’d probably drive them crazy if you let little Reed Name or Mrs. Water come to the swamp for ten days without a bath.”
“That’s why I can never understand what kind of godly life you all lead in your world.”
Ambrosia sighed.
After a few seconds, she asked:
“So, Bull, if I had been born on your side of the world, what kind of life would I be living right now?”
“Oh, let me think.”
Bull jumped down from the short tree with his weight on his back, the combat boots of his feet stepping into the rotten mud.
He naturally reached out and took Ambrosia’s wrist to pick the latter up from the tree, even if with Ambrosia’s dexterity he didn’t need Bull’s help at all.
With that, the two of them stomped through the mud towards the evacuation site, to meet up with the other six teams of scouts that had scattered and sprinkled through the swamp in preparation for the evacuation.
The environment of the swamp was rightfully poor, but it was secluded, and because the presence of Plague Town had caused the nearby swamp beasts to run out long ago, even the sound of birds chirping was lacking.
In order to avoid being discovered, Bull and Ambrosia could only move forward as softly as possible, and after a dozen seconds of thought, Bull spoke up and said to Ambrosia:
“If you were on our side, you would receive the safest protection from your parents from the time you were born, there would be a professional pediatrician who would check your health regularly, you would grow up in a warm home until you were three years old then you would enter kindergarten to start your general education, and then elementary school, junior high school, high school, and college.
Until you are in your twenties, you can choose to continue your education according to your own interests and specialties and swim in the sea of learning, or you can choose to enter the community to find a job that can support your family.
Maybe you will encounter black-hearted bosses, maybe because of mediocrity and can not find the opportunity to climb up, but the basic food can always be guaranteed.
Even if you are a bum, you can spend your life the way you want to and in a way that is realistic.
You will find a husband who loves you.
You will start a family with him and have your own children and take care of him the way your parents took care of you until he becomes an adult and until you retire and start enjoying the last days of your life in the sunset, until you walk your last journey amidst the mourning of your loved ones and friends.
It’s really no different over there than it is over here.”
Bull scratched his head and said:
“There’s no way I can tell you what it’s like to spend your life over there, after all, I haven’t even finished the first stage of my life yet, I’m still a poor student.
I’m not afraid to laugh at you, I’m very confused about the future. Part of my resistance to my sister also comes from her overly impressive resume, and I feel like the odds are that I won’t be able to live up to my sister in this lifetime.
That’s why my grandfather was probably right when he said I was rotten.
As hard as I feel like I’ve tried, there’s really no way to tell with the talent thing.”
Ambrosia didn’t respond.
She just listened very patiently, and it was only after Niu Niu voiced her worries that An Boo let out a puff of laughter as she shook her head and said:
“You think there is no difference between life in the two worlds? What a childish opinion, my warrior, my life over here can be very different from what you think.
I am an orphan.
Growing up in Hunter’s Camp Sixteen in the Emerald Forest of Antani, I was taken care of by the people of the village, probably because my father died in the claws of a wild bear in defense of the village.
I don’t remember much about hunger, but it wasn’t easy to get a full meal as a child.
I remember that by the time I was four years old, I was already skilled enough to gather the fruits and mushrooms in the forest, and playing in the forest with Heru and the other children is one of my fondest memories of my childhood.
Without a pediatrician, without a warm home or the liberal arts education you resist, I didn’t learn to write my name until I was twelve years old with the Avalon priests, and I’ve been helping out with odd jobs in the sanctuary of the Avalon church ever since.
I thought my life would follow the path of that Reverend Mother, yet sudden rebellion and war disrupted all my plans.
I was forced to take up arms and become a warrior in ways I could never have imagined, I thought I would die in the first battle I encountered, luckily I met Natalie.
Without her I might have been dead a long time ago.
I used to think that such desolation and misery was the norm in life, but after meeting you otherworlders I realized that it wasn’t.
There is another way to live life.
That kind of life is called happiness and fulfillment, and for us, everything you know and even resist is like heaven.
Niu Niu
Are we really from two worlds, and perhaps we can never really understand each other? I heard Sister Marianne say that two people who can’t understand each other can’t have a future they can see.
Maybe we’ve gone too far, don’t you think?”
Ambrosia sighed regretfully, leaving the bull speechless.
He sensed that Ambo seemed to be making some sort of decision that he would regret, and he wanted to salvage it, his hand was up but he couldn’t speak.
He knew that there was no way he could make any promises or guarantees to this “NPC” in front of him.
This is no longer “dowry” or “bride price” that kind of inconsequential issue, just as said by Ambrosia, between the two people separated by a whole world!
That’s the distance that makes all the things called “love” will feel discouraged.
The bull was in a bad mood.
Suddenly, he understood why Pomegranate had never allowed him to get too close to Ambrosia. His sister, who had been very smart since she was a child, had probably seen the tragedy that would eventually develop from this kind of flirtation.
It was also the same reason why Aragorn and Eowyn’s love in the Lord of the Rings was not blessed by their own people; the test that couple faced was time, while the Bull faced space, and it was even more complicated.
That’s real and unreal.
So the two who had been talking and laughing a moment ago this would become dull, and the experience of walking through the swamp would become tiresome.
The bull gripped the handle of the yoke at his waist with some irritation, however the next moment a sudden purple glow erupted behind them.
Niu Niu and Ambrosia turned around and saw a shockwave of purple streams of light spreading outwards with the town of Plague as the point of origin, before the two of them could react they were swept across by the glow, it didn’t cause any damage but they realized that their position had already been exposed, it was definitely some kind of sudden and stealthy detection spell.
Worse was yet to come.
As Bull quickly stepped forward and picked up Ambrosia and flew into the sky with his wings, intending to break out, a blinding bolt of psychic energy shot out from the tower of the Plague Town, striking the vampire shield guards who had just risen into the air in a fast and furious manner.
The Grave Sword Guard’s resistance to psychic energy saved Bull’s life, but it shattered his blood wings, sending him and Ambrosia plummeting through the air.
The Bull held the petite Ambrosia in his arms and curled his body up to meet the impact, only to crash into a rocky outcrop on the ground.
The impact caused Ox’s eyes to go black, and his blood bar swished and lost a large portion.
But under his protection, Ambrosia was unharmed.
Their predicament didn’t end there, as the Jackal Warlock’s pursuit was followed by a large number of Skeleton Army from all directions, trapping Niu Niu and Ambrosia in place before they could break out of the encirclement.
“Follow me!”
Bull spat, grabbing Kenport’s Destruction Shackle and Bone Shield, activating the Berserk and Life Draw attached to the weapons, and charging forward as a berserker, the Juggernaut-grade Shackle in his hand taking away the skeletons that stood in his way with each swing, a psionically-charged, heavy weapon that could not be more appropriate for routing these necrotic creatures.
Ambrosia wasn’t a drag.
While this scout had really bad luck, she was still capable of fighting.
Wielding two witch hunter battle swords, she followed behind Bull, and the two’s near-perfectly coordinated fight allowed them to quickly open up a gap, and the other scouts quickly showed up to support them, finally picking the two up at the moment when the situation had gone to its worst.
The Jackal Warlock’s pursuit ended there.
It was clear that Torn Flesh wasn’t going to waste too much time on these inconsequential scouts, this time it was just a small warning, and yet things had gotten as bad as they could get for the bull.
He had already been injured in the fall, and the subsequent berserk spell that had been applied had squeezed the life out of him, and after getting out of the trap his body went limp and he fell to his knees, slamming into the ground again to the sound of Ambos screams.
The witch hunter scout picked the bull up and scrambled to remove various potions only to be stopped by the bull.
He looked at his rapidly declining blood bar, and realized that his life would not be saved today, and he had planned to challenge the “one life pass”.
Unfortunately, in the real world, such a feat is too difficult.
“Don’t be busy, we’ll meet again in three days.”
Bull got his helmet off with difficulty, he reached out and took Ambo’s hand in his, staring into her eyes he said:
“My life is expendable, but yours is not.
I’d rather die a hundred times than see you get hurt again, you only have one life, and I’d be devastated if you didn’t and maybe even leave Transylvania for good.
I actually knew all along that you were waiting for me to come forward with those
But I couldn’t give you a promise, Ambrosia, it’s not that I don’t like you, as you said, we are from two different worlds, but I’ll tell you anyway
Just ten days ago, I rejected my schoolmate because of you.
She is the kind of girl who grew up like me, as you said, we may understand each other however I rejected her without much hesitation.
Because I like you, Ambrose.
I don’t want to worry about where we go from here, all I know is that at a time in my life when I was most confused I met a warrior woman who is a hundred times stronger than I am.
What I’m worried about is ridiculous compared to what’s happened to you.
Ah, there’s no time for that, I’m dying, let’s wait for the rest until three days later, remember to bring my equipment with you, these are the ones I’ve managed to get with great difficulty, I’ll be very sorry if I lose them just like that.”
The rest of his rambling words were blocked by lips with a sweet taste, at this instant Bull’s eyes widened as he realized that his first kiss, which had been carefully kept for more than twenty years, was just gone.
Ah, he wasn’t pure anymore, and he was sure to be fixed by his sister if he continued, but what the hell.
With this thought, Ox closed his eyes and responded to Ambrosia’s heart that had finally been broken back and made more determined with his actions.
—
A few minutes later, Bull sat up from his bunk with a remorseful look on his face as he removed his helmet and lifted his left hand to look at his fingers with a subtle expression.
“Fuck! That was close .”
The gym student punched the wall hard, resulting in the commotion drawing a few fellows who would be washing up.
“I’m dead.”
Bull told them:
“Had an accident, it’s killing me.”
“Why are you wearing such a lewd smile when you’re fucking dead? Hey, are you playing the game stupid?”
“You guys don’t know shit! Tonight cha barbecue! My treat.”
“Don’t know what’s going on, but . Yeah!”
