343. Chapter 341: 340 Abnormal Blood Descent Observation Tests
Chapter 341 340.Abnormal Blood Descent Observation Experiment
It was already 2 days after Merliah Corando had been pulled back to earth from the disaster of eternal silence when she was awake again from her weakness.
Her eyes had been stabbed blind during her previous ordeal, an injury that not even a vampire’s self-healing powers could recover from, and unless she could get her hands on the fabled family source blood there was no way she could see again.
But for Merliah, who had come back from the dead, in trying to see the world in front of her was undoubtedly a luxury she shouldn’t have had, and after she came to her senses she was only thankful that she’d escaped a disastrous end, and that she still had her foolish sister to keep by her side.
After the death of her father in battle, the separation of her loved ones, the collapse of her family, the demise of her faction, and being hunted and tortured, Merliah feels that her vampire life has been “elevated”.
After at least walking through the great horror between life and death, she is no longer too obsessed with the gains and losses of a single moment as she was in the past.
She let out a long breath, and reached out her hand and fumbled to take her sister Winnie, who was lying beside her in a deep sleep, into her arms.
Although this poor little one hadn’t suffered the dilemma of being blinded in both eyes, the torture she had suffered over the past period of time was no less than that of her own sister, and she was surely already very tired.
She needed to rest.
“Huh, why are you blindfolded, you vampire?”
Just as Merliah was about to hug her sister and quietly experience the small joy of coming back from the dead, a woman’s curious voice rang out right in front of the vampire’s eyes.
Merliah’s ears twitched.
It was said that the loss of a certain sense would make other senses sharper to compensate for the lack of perception, and this principle was true for vampires as well.
During the time that she had lost her sight, Merliah could feel that her sense of hearing and sense of smell had indeed grown a lot.
She could hear the “youthful” part of the woman’s tone, so she was definitely not too old, and the accent from the Anjou region could not be hidden, plus her tone was not hoarse and somber, and she did not smell the distinctive scent that belonged to vampires.
Thus it could be determined that the woman she spoke to definitely had a complicated relationship with the Blood Vulture vampire, able to allow her to walk among vampires without being killed or maimed.
She still needed more information to confirm the identity of the person in front of her.
“I was blinded by poison.”
Merliah replied with a slight flirtation:
“What? First time seeing a blind vampire?”
“Yeah, I didn’t realize that there were so many doors to the vampire race until I met Grandpa, and this is the first time I’ve seen so many vampires bunched up, and it’s honestly a little exciting.
But didn’t they say you all can heal yourselves?
Why are you still blind? But honestly, you look pretty good with an eye patch like this.”
The woman spoke with a cheerful tone that Melia couldn’t understand, as if sharing a story:
“Grandpa said that you are thugs of the Wolfsbane Clan, but you two girls don’t look like thugs at all, so you are actually deviants in the Wolfsbane Clan?”
“Your grandfather is a vampire?”
Merliah asked rhetorically:
“And it sounds like you’re pretty close to him . With all due respect, girl, you probably don’t realize what you’re doing, and based on my personal experience, all I can advise you is to run before your grandfather’s bestiality takes over and sucks you dry of this delicious blood.
While not every vampire would do such a crazy thing, the vast majority of my ‘compatriots’ as far as I’ve seen don’t have much mental pressure to do such a thing.”
“My grandfather wouldn’t do that! Don’t be a bloodhound, my grandfather was a legendary knight who kept his vows even after becoming a vampire. And do you know what the best thing about having a vampire grandfather is?
He hardly ever ages!
Then I was able to confirm that this natural beauty of mine is precisely from his handsomeness and the addition of good blood from my grandmother’s standard Westland lady.”
The girl in front of her didn’t care to say more, but Merliah had gathered enough information to say after a few seconds of silence:
“So, you come from the Xavier family from the Nantes region?”
“Huh-uh-uh-uh!”
Miss Becky, who was standing in front of the Corando sisters, holding her own delicate notebook and curiously observing the two unique vampires, exclaimed as the blonde knight-errant exclaimed with wide eyes:
“How did you guess? I didn’t say anything about my origins.”
“Not a guess, an inference.”
Merliah, who was blindfolded with a blood-stained cloth, said with a weak but organized posture:
“You said that your grandfather’s adherence to the oath after becoming a vampire means that he was an Oathkeeper, and coupled with your Anjou accent, as far as I know, there can’t be more than three Oathkeepers born in the Anjou region in the last hundred years, and the most famous one of them came from the Xavier family, nicknamed the ‘Nantes Ranger’.
This is more than enough for me to deduce your origins, my lady.
If you want to hear more, I’ll tell you that I’ve heard from my tormentors about some of their plans to ambush a Carpeian caravan, but why would you, a Xavier, be in a Carpeian caravan?
The only explanation .
You’re the ‘lucky blonde fool’ that’s been spreading around the Anjou region lately, the fiancée of His Excellency Fraser who was chosen to be the successor of the Carpe family, Miss Bikki.
Am I guessing correctly?”
“Wow, all I can say is eye-opening.”
Ms. Becky wasn’t mad at Merliah for calling her a “blonde dork.”
She’d been raised to be tolerant in that regard; what people said was other people’s business, and as long as she could take the pounding of her own fists, they could say what they liked.
She blinked at the blind vampire in front of her and couldn’t help but marvel:
“I’ve long heard that the Wolfsbane Clan holds a lot of underground intelligence networks, making them the second only to the Halfling’s Thieves’ Union on the continent in terms of intelligence gathering, and today’s sight is truly extraordinary.
But the fact that you can know so much information means that you are not without status in the Wolfsbane Clan, so how did you end up in such a miserable state?”
“Well, that’s a long story.”
Melia didn’t seem too interested in sharing her life’s turn of events over the past period of time to Bickie, but as she shut up, another voice sounded beside her:
“Ms. Becky, please don’t give a hard time to a poor girl who just lost her father and brothers, if you want to know the history of the rise and fall of the Corlando family, then I will send someone to answer all of this to you when you arrive at the Blood Wyvern Cloisters.”
Murphy stepped out from the side, causing Miss Becky, who was crouching in front of the Corando sisters, to rise somewhat nervously and give him the standard ladylike salute.
But the vampire governor shook his head and said:
“I don’t know what Kudel told you to make you fear me so much, but I prefer the relaxed and pleasant conversation we had before.
As far as your style is concerned, I think the knightly salute suits you better than the ladylike one.
The mountain folk were about to begin a grand celebration to congratulate the first Grail Knight born in the ancestral woodlands, and for outsiders, it was an adventure worthy of a great book to be part of a mountain folk’s celebration, where Knight Livin had already begun feasting.
Aren’t you going?”
“Eating, of course I’m interested, then I’ll see you at the Scarlet Castle, the handsome Lord Murphy.”
Ms. Becky could see that Murphy wanted to talk to the Corando sisters about something “personal”, so she excused herself.
This ability to read people’s minds proved that Miss Beech was not the “lucky blonde fool” that she was rumored to be, but that she had an unusually keen sense of observation.
Maybe it’s just that she doesn’t know, she just doesn’t care?
Seeing Becky jumping away, Murphy retracted his gaze to look at the vampire sisters in front of him, and as he crouched down, Merliah’s body muscles obviously tensed up, holding her sleeping sister in his arms even more tightly.
“Your father did not die at my hands.”
Murphy said as he looked at the blind vampire girl in front of him:
“But I had nothing to do with that death, and I was responsible for the collapse of the Grey Claw faction, and your father and brothers died of ambitions they shouldn’t have had, and their strength didn’t match their over-inflated ambitions.
And you and your sister, are the last of Moriarty Corando’s bloodline, and to prevent you both from causing me trouble in the future, I should probably grant you an eternal silence here.”
“We will be no trouble, Lord Murphy.”
Merliah said softly:
“I have been branded as a Blood Wyvern, I am one of you.”
“You think I’m going to buy into that old lineage-determines-destiny thing?”
Murphy sneered.
He was silent for a few seconds and asked:
“In that dream you had just now . What did you dream about? Tell me honestly, and I can allow you to live in another identity and stop interfering with you and your sister’s future life. But if you dare to lie, then there will be consequences.”
This strange question from Murphy made Melia’s body tremble.
This vampire girl who had inherited Moriarty Corando’s wisdom had already guessed that Murphy might know the answer, he just wanted to hear it from Melia herself.
As he watched, Merliah hesitated for a moment before she said:
“I I dreamt of another world . Another life, in the perspective of a strange man, I saw the light and the strange .”
“Good, you were honest and didn’t lie, it seems that the bloodline that shouldn’t have happened has indeed tied you to the pleasure stick in a way I couldn’t have imagined.
It’s breathtaking that two worlds apart can actually have this kind of information interfering with each other.”
Murphy stood up and removed a small jar of blood and placed it into Melia’s hand as he whispered:
“I don’t know if this connection is good or bad yet, but I hope you don’t turn it into a bad thing, and from now on, you already have one more little secret in your heart that can’t be told to a third person other than you and me.
I wish you to keep this secret and to play the part you will play afterward, and you must serve with all your heart your ‘honored one’ who is too strange and out of place in our world.
Not just because you owe him your life!
Can you understand what I mean?”
—
“Going to Batasin City now? In such a hurry?”
The celebratory feast after the ancient ceremony was about to be held in the woodlands of the mountain folk, and Lady Dorothy was ready to feast when she suddenly received instructions from Lord Murphy.
She looked at her Governor Lord, who had spread his wings, in surprise and said:
“Is something wrong over there? At least finish the meal.”
“You can stay here and continue to enjoy the festivities, I’m just telling you I’m leaving, there’s an emergency over there that must be gotten to immediately.”
Murphy said waving his hand:
“I called you here so you could help me take care of the warriors I left here, plus they’ve been scouring the whole of Transylvania lately for displaced war stragglers.
Perhaps something will come up soon, so the Blood Rats will have to get ready for that as well.”
“That’s not our job.”
Dorothy bristled:
“Aren’t there civil servants from the Administrative Service who will be in charge of taking in those poor people? I see they’ve already packed up all the previous campsites in preparation for those stragglers to live in.”
“I’m asking you to fulfill your duties!”
Murphy chided:
“The Blood Rat Gang is an organization under the Phantom Shadow Intelligence Bureau, it’s difficult for you to be of great use right now but you can at least send someone to blend in with the stragglers, relying on your experience in surviving in the grey area to help Adele discover and eradicate the unstable elements in them in advance.
Transylvania has been in chaos for so many years, and those stragglers are definitely not pure white lotus flowers.
Reformed bandits, criminals and even cultists and dangerous people hidden among them must be discovered and controlled at the first opportunity.
I need the population, but I don’t need a bunch of disobedient time bombs.”
“Understood! Please rest assured.”
Seeing that Lord Viceroy was a bit angry, Dorothy immediately corrected her attitude as she said seriously:
“After returning to Scarlet Fortress I will immediately appoint someone dedicated to this matter, we will definitely do it right.”
“Well, I hope you can come up with a suitable answer, Adele is not someone who will let you bargain with her over work.”
Murphy nodded in satisfaction.
With a wink to Kudel, he decided to fly off with the Bailiff to Batasin City under the night to participate in the business of receiving armed blood servants.
But before leaving, Murphy had not forgotten another important matter.
He summoned Sheron, a “local”, and instructed her:
“I’ll leave the two Corando sisters who have joined the Blood Wyverns here, when you return to Scarlet Fortress, bring them back with you, but you have to watch over them for me when I’m not around.
Make a note of any abnormalities, and if a life-threatening problem occurs be the first to contact me through the arithmetic bead.”
“Uh, okay, leave it to me.”
Shirren, who would be cupping a mountain folk flavored roasted chicken leg in his hand and eating it with his mouth glistening with oil, replied back earnestly, and Murphy and Kudel got up and flew into the night to speed in the direction of Batasin.
High in the air beneath the night, the bailiff whispered to Murphy:
“Are you going over in time because you’re worried that the captives will cause trouble?”
“Well, the Blood Vulture Clan they once served has crumbled into the dustbin of history, and no one can know what those former Blood Servants think or feel about the new-Blood Vulture Clan.”
Murphy let the night wind blow his long hair, and glanced at Revernor, the Spirit Vulture, who was flying with him not far away, and he no longer hid his concern at this high altitude.
He said to Kudel:
“What’s more, I received some disturbing news from Archduke Shani’s side that the Nordtorf Kingdom added some of their domestic ‘unstable elements’ to this batch of captives, intending to take the opportunity to do a wasteful use.
If those guys couldn’t be law-abiding people with the Yankees, then what makes me think they’ll turn around and become good people when they come to Transylvania?
This batch of prisoners came just in time.
But if we don’t handle them right, they’re liable to become a stray poison buried in Transylvania.
It’s true that I could send them into the front lines to be consumed as cannon fodder, but I expect a higher level from them, people we’re short of right now, and I’ve promised to give anyone who enters Transylvania a second chance.
So I need to teach them the rules of this land before they do anything wrong!”
“Actually there is an easier way.”
Kudel thought for a moment and said to Murphy:
“The current Transylvania is like a dangerous jungle, and with order not yet fully restored, suppressing it with force is also a quick and easy way.
If those criminals and soldier gangsters think that they can rely on violence to live a human life in Transylvania, then I believe that those belligerent and crazy warriors under your command will definitely teach them a good lesson.
When the other party can’t understand good words, it’s rather easier to communicate with their fists.”
“Well, that’s a really good way.”
Murphy nodded as he marveled:
“You are truly a knowledgeable old-timer, Sir Kudel, incorporating you into the system of Scarlet Fortress is definitely the most correct choice I have made in this period of time.
If I didn’t already have Maxim, I would have used every means possible to make you my bloodline.”
“I can only say that it is fortunate that you did not do that.”
Kudel let out a low chuckle under the darkness as he replied:
“Otherwise you would have gained an enemy that would have given you an immense headache, please believe me, Lord Murphy, Maxim is more suitable for you, that loyalist will be a hundred times better follower than me if he can keep going forward and go all the way to the end of this path of loyalty.
There is something in Mark that I lack, that is what makes him who he is as a Transylvanian.
Or rather, I have been bound to life by the Oath but his future is free and can be molded by you into an overwhelmingly fierce weapon.”
“Yes, he’s free to the point where he has to sneak around without the others even doing something like getting a date.”
Murphy spat harshly:
“Dear Maxim still thinks I don’t know about that marvelous pattern of getting along between him and Ms. Laneia, but I think Mark is asking for trouble.
Blood knights can’t have lovers.
This is a rule that was set in place the moment the Blood League Clan was born. Wanting to hold a beautiful woman, my poor Maxim was destined to go through countless ups and downs and trials and tribulations.
But how?
With that fight-or-die personality of his, I guess he’ll enjoy it.”
