Chapter 156 155 The Fall of the Batasin Massacre
Chapter 156 155.The Fall of the Batasin Massacre
From the unlucky Vampire Mary, Murphy quickly learned about the various things that had occurred in Cadman City an hour before the Star Realm Rift erupted.
But she herself actually didn’t know much.
According to her, she was hiding out with her lover, Mox, in a dark little house on the street that day, engaging in some shibboleth that couldn’t pass muster, and it was only because of the vampire’s keen sense of psychic energy that the two of them realized that the Serenade Boundary had been suddenly shut down.
Mox then takes her around the city’s shadows to investigate.
Well, from this detail, we can see that the stupid vampire who told Murphy to “eat up and be on your way” is actually a very loyal guy to the family.
This can be seen from the fact that he is willing to risk being burned by the sun to investigate the crisis for the family, which is not something that any vampire is willing to meddle in.
However, these two unlucky feral lovebirds apparently had very bad luck.
According to Mary, they had just gone out and before they could figure out what had happened, they were fucked head-on by the group of traitors who did not speak of martial virtues.
Those bastards who had already defected to the Wolfsbane Clan had not only shut down the city’s Boundary Core, but also slipped away a lot of the clan’s wealth, which even involved the Cloister Guards and the Clan Chief’s own guards, who were theoretically absolute loyalists.
Mox was gaited on the spot, even with the vampire heart, while Mary escaped with difficulty.
But not because the traitors took pity on her, it was simply because there wasn’t enough time left, they casually left the severely injured Mary in the garbage to wait for her death followed by a quick evacuation of the city, and Mary herself crawled out of the garbage heap to witness the city of Cadman being engulfed by the rift in the astral realm.
She should have died there.
But she was lucky enough to be found by a group of fleeing fringe family members who took her out before the Star Realm’s psychic energy completely engulfed the city and rolled her all the way to Batasin City.
“Mox and I are both full members of the family, and as such have a certain reputation among the fringe, and it was for this reason that we landed in Batasin City when we were noticed by old Joel, the head of the place.”
Mary had by now been led out of the cellar.
While grabbing the blood vial Murphy threw to her and slurping it to regain some strength, she slumped to the ground and felt for the family seal ring she had hidden somewhere to prove her identity, and went on to report what happened next for Lord Murphy.
It was obvious that Mary had suffered so much that she was close to despair.
At this moment, Murphy’s appearance was undoubtedly the only hope for her to live and regain her identity, so there was no need for Murphy to urge her, so she told everything she knew like a bamboo tube.
“But old Joel was a fool and a madman and a disgusting scum, and he took advantage of my weakness to do things to me that were . Uh, disgusting things! And tried to make me his heir, but he’s nothing but mediocre!
Just squeaking through the Silver Trials by the lowest standards has drained him of all potential, and he’s no match for my Mox.
My beloved and pathetic Mox.”
Mary’s tone took on a touch of sadness, but then quickly continued:
“Joel knew everything that had happened in Cadman City, and thinking that the Blood Vulture Clan had died out, he began to foolishly hook up with the Thorn Clan. I don’t know if he was secretly in bed with the Thorn Nightwalkers before, but his message was quickly answered.
The other side had sent people over and were still taking in traitors from the clan.
I was extremely opposed to this!
Especially after hearing that Lady Tris had become the new Archduke, I felt that we should return to Cadman City to pledge our allegiance to her, however, I overestimated the bottom line of my fellow clan members.”
She reached up and touched her chest.
There was a gruesome brand there, like some kind of torture wound imprinted with a searing horseshoe, plus a psychic enhancement that made it impossible for the vampire’s self-healing powers to heal.
She said:
“Fear drove Joel mad, and knowing that his deeds would draw terrible punishment if he was discovered, he branded me with the shameful mark of a slave and imprisoned me and my servants here to begin more active contact with the Thorn Clan.
We were desperate until your warriors found us.”
Murphy narrowed his eyes at the vampiress at his feet, humble to a fault, and after a few seconds, he said:
“You’re obviously lying, but I’m not inquiring about your loyalty, that’s all something that can be discussed afterward. The problem is that what you are saying is not the same as what my warriors reported, it was you who took the initiative to call out my name to get them to spare your lives, and you say you heard the news of Tris becoming an Archduke!
But you had no idea before that I had become the lord of this land.
You’re obviously hiding something!
Mary, I’ll give you one last chance to speak clearly!”
Murphy’s sharpness and his drawl of finding a loophole in a sentence made Mary’s entire body shake, she let out a mournful cry, and then after a few seconds she hugged Murphy’s toes and screamed:
“No, my lord, I’m not deceiving you! I’m just I’m just experiencing very strange things, and I think it’s probably better to ignore those in order for you to think I’m not just babbling as opposed to me stating that absurd truth.
It was a certain voice I heard earlier!
It said to me that You would come and save us, and I don’t know how to describe it, but it just appeared out of nowhere in my mind to declare to me where hope lies.”
“A voice?”
Murphy asked, narrowing his eyes:
“What kind of voice? Describe it to me in detail.”
“It was muddled, like the voices of many people iterated together, and it just kept repeating the words that Murphy would save us, but it also didn’t pay any attention to my prayers and inquiries.”
Mary said in a muffled voice:
“It just appeared out of nowhere in my weak sleep, I don’t know how to describe it, but if I had to say, it’s probably similar to what those believers call a ‘divine revelation’, and back in the day when I was charging money to torment those old religion fanatics, I’d occasionally hear them say that they could hear the whispers of the gods they believed in along with the dreaming.
That voice appeared that one time!
I remember it well, just a day and night ago.”
“A day ago night?”
Murphy thought in his mind.
Wasn’t that exactly when he had taken Maxim and Adele from the Scarlet Fortress?
If what this scared vampiress said was true, it meant that the mysterious voice had predicted what would happen tonight?
It does sound like some kind of unique “divine revelation”, but the problem is that vampires are eternal sinners, so why would this happen? Did some god suddenly have a change of heart or a brain fart and take a fantastic interest in poop?
Vampires don’t have a god of their own.
And so on!
Nope!
A flash of lightning struck Murphy’s mind, causing his muscles to tense as the scene of the collapse of the hall of the Pool of the Holy Blood suddenly flashed into his mind, the hideous, twisted subspace shadow that had tried to enter the material world and called out to Phaemis as the subspace rift collapsed into the Astral Plane!
The twisted god that Salokdar had sacrificed half of the Blood Wyvern clan’s elite to create, the unnameable object known as the Midnight Mother.
In a sense, wasn’t that the “god” that Salokdar had created for the vampires?
Is it possible?
Hiss!
Murphy sucked in a breath of cold air.
He suddenly realized that his biggest gain from this trip to Batasin might not be executing the traitors and deterring the stupid Thorn Clan, but precisely this unlucky Mary under his feet who was hugging his leg and begging for mercy.
But about this aspect of mystical learning Murphy is completely ignorant, good thing he has a top boss of the continent’s top theologian.
Trixie could surely judge more things from it.
“Be decent, Mary.”
Murphy whispered as he lowered his head and looked with disgust at the unlucky vampire who was hugging his leg and begging for mercy: “The news you brought back was exactly what the Archduke and I needed, so you can be spared, but you did do the wrong thing after all, and instead of coming back to the aid of the Clan when it was in crisis you stood idly by and tried to sell it for a price! You know that is a hard sin to be pardoned for.”
“I know it was wrong, my lord, and I am willing to pay any price, I just pray that you will see me as a part of the Blood Wyverns again.”
Mary prayed with her five bodies on the ground:
“I am willing to offer the essence of my blood to become your .”
“I don’t need any more servants for a while, and your fate shouldn’t be up to me.”
Murphy said with a wave of his hand:
“Pack up your things, take your followers who suffered together with you, and follow my warriors back to the Scarlet Fortress, where the honorable Archduke Tris will decide your fate. And since this matter of your accusation of family treason is related to Wolfsbane, and since you have heard the name of Duchess Cecilia, the power to judge your future life is not in my hands.
Perhaps Grand Duchess Femis will take some interest in you.
After all, as Countess Andromeda, she does need some credible followers to take care of the territory for her.”
Hearing these words, Mary’s entire body went limp.
She had survived.
It was the best she could get after all the suffering she had been through.
Beyond that, she wanted nothing more.
The main thing was that as soon as Lord Murphy arrived in the city of Batasin, he launched a mad slaughter of traitors here, and it was clear that he did not intend to spare any of the old traitors, and this bloody tactic frightened survivors like Mary, making them truly realize what kind of person this young and handsome lord in front of them was.
In front of such a person, being able to escape with one’s life was already the greatest mercy.
“Mark, you watch over them.”
Murphy summoned his servant and said to him:
“Then take my warriors back to Scarlet Fort with the captives, Adele will stay here first to assist Ms. Parian in controlling this small trading city, I must rush back to Scarlet Fort first.”
“Please rest assured, master, we will take care of it all.”
Maxim spoke in a deep voice, Murphy nodded, and the huge blood-colored batwings opened up in the darkest hour before dawn, flying into the night sky again accompanied by the blood-eating spirit vulture Reverono, and flew rapidly towards the distant night sky.
The “Star Realm Creation” hanging in the sky was like a purple lighthouse guiding his direction.
—
Dawn came quickly.
The people of Batasin, who had been terrified all night, cautiously opened the doors to what they expected to be a mass of corpses.
After all, the commotion of over a hundred vampires and hundreds of blood servants mingling in the city last night was enough to scare everyone in the city.
Maybe even the unlucky city was ruined by last night’s big battle.
Yet it didn’t!
There was nothing on the streets, not only were there no corpses strewn about, even the aftermath of the battle was rarely seen.
Only some blood vulture servants belonging to the Loyalists were happily directing the city’s vagabonds to clean up the streets, and one by one, faded stone statues glittering coldly in the sunlight were loaded onto crates and sent out of the city to be destroyed.
Any knowledgeable merchant knew that those were the only traces that would remain after a vampire’s death.
Since there was no one to stop the residents of the city from going outside, they quickly piled up and began to inquire about what had happened last night, and soon enough a powerful piece of news spread like a thunderbolt through the small town with only a few thousand permanent residents.
The previous head of the Blood Vulture in the city of Batasin, Hetem Joel Le Sombra, had been executed by Lord Count Cadman himself for colluding with the Yankees and attempting to subvert the authority of the Blood Vulture.
The group of scions under old Joel’s command who were usually in charge have been liquidated, and the bloodservants he tamed like wild dogs have been captured and are rumored to be executed today at noon on the city’s largest trading street.
The new administrator of Batasin City, Lady Blanche Parian Fedor, nicknamed “Big Mother”, is gathering evidence against the lackeys.
And that’s what surprised everyone.
Born in a small village in the Ice Bay area north of Batasin, the businesswoman Blanche Palin Fedor had somehow managed to climb up the ladder, and had been knighted by the Count of Cadman, and was in charge of some of the Count’s commercial affairs.
It is said that she has been authorized to be forming a small organization for the administration of the city of Batasin.
According to the gossip that I don’t know how many hands have been turned, all the members of this small organization will be appointed by Lady Parian, so several of the big merchants in the city have already rushed to the Horseshoe Inn where the Parian Knights are staying with the intention of getting some benefits for themselves.
These matters had little to do with the commoners of the city, and anyway, they would not be able to take the lead no matter who the master at the top of their heads changed to.
There were only two things they were interested in.
The first was that Parian wasn’t well known among the crowd of merchants who made a living in Batasin, just a rich merchant who ran a trade route and sold a few daily necessities, and there had always been local gossip that Ms. Parian’s money for business came from her poor husband, who had been killed by her and her daughters’ own hands.
That’s a terrible accusation, but the question is how did such a small merchant with a complicated life manage to carp her way to becoming a vassal of a venerable vampire count?
Secondly, just how many vampires died in the city last night?
Just seeing the faded stone statues being sent out of the city one by one, this number alone makes one feel a chill on the scalp, I’m afraid that all the blood vulture lords who have gathered in the city recently have been killed by the new Count?
Wasn’t it said that the Blood Vulture Clan was finished? Why did such a powerful vampire count suddenly appear?
Well, it seems that the Blood Vulture’s kingdom is still alive.
That’s good.
The fact that the 400 years of rule would continue was not a bad thing for the civilians, as everything they were familiar with would continue to exist without having to spend time adapting to the new order of the land after the grueling Ten Years’ War.
Though the vampires were a bunch of unproductive dogs, it was hard to imagine what Transylvania would be like without them.
Meanwhile, in the old Horseshoe Inn, the proud old innkeeper was ordering the chef to bring out the best ingredients in the store, and make his noble Parian niece a fine, exquisite lunch befitting the status of a Knight Master.
All the employees in the entire inn were all smiling, as happy as if they had gone out to pick up money.
Because most of them came from the same village as Mrs. Parian, now that Mrs. Parian is alone, everyone’s life will definitely be much better afterward, and lo and behold, this is the ordinary people in the Transylvanian land, even their dreams are so humble.
In the best room on the second floor of the inn, Mrs. Parian was not so happy.
She is now sitting with the front of the five sitting around the city’s largest business local merchants discussing about the food trade in the big event.
She didn’t hold her tongue, but told them very directly:
“As long as this matter is done properly, you will have everything you want! Lord Earl has promised to edict the city of Batasin as my territory after the territory gets enough grain, and I promise you the same!
As long as I can get my hands on this territory, you will definitely have your share in the city’s council of administrators!
You all know me, my long-dead husband and I were known for our integrity when we did business together!
But if we don’t get it right, folks.
How about thinking about that ‘Batasin Massacre’ last night, that didn’t seem to me to be just for the vampires either, don’t you think?”
