Chapter 114 113 If Life Were a Game [5360

Chapter 114 113. if life is a game. [5360

The lighting of the Achievement System gave Murphy a surprise, but he quickly calmed down and decided not to tell the good news to the small players yet.

Today’s casualties were too heavy but such a big victory was already a great need for a lively celebration.

It wasn’t just the players and him as a lord who needed to celebrate the victory, the death of Salokdar represented that the series of tragedies in Cadman City had finally come to an end, and the lords under Murphy’s command were also in dire need of a ceremony to release their stress and grief.

He quickly made up his mind!
Three days later when the small players were all resurrected and online, he publicly announced the end of the main quest’s prologue and rewarded them with generous loot.

The most important thing right now was to arrange the current situation and find someone to dig out the rewards that the small players deserved from the collapsed Blood Wyvern Corridor. Murphy had gotten the key to the Secret Treasure Vault from miser Zacob before, but that place was close to the Holy Blood Hall, and at this point it was buried under the rubble.

However, the Secret Treasure Vault was sturdy it shouldn’t be buried completely beyond repair.

“The Star Realm Rift opening up again will allow primordial and frenzied spiritual energy to fill this area, I think it’s better for us to get out of here before we talk about anything else. What do you guys think?”

Knight Lord Paranor, who was in dire need of a wash to ensure his perfect appearance after a great battle, put away the scented notebook in his hands and offered his opinion to the others.

Naturally no one would object.

Everyone who had made it out alive was now in desperate need of rest, even the small players who were always full of energy were a bit overwhelmed.

Escorted by the Cadmanian self-help army, they passed through the great rift in the city to rest temporarily in position tents in the ruins of the outer city, where they treated the wounded before moving them to the survivor camp.

Miriam had placed healers here ahead of time, and Tris had gone forward to help.

The three small players found a safe place to lay down on the ground and went offline to blow off some steam on the forums, while Murphy found a tent and wiped down his body with fresh water again.

He was probably in the best shape of anyone who survived.

After all, he had just experienced a template upgrade that had energized him, and at this point in time, he was still in the dark when he stepped out of the tent wearing only a loose linen robe to take a look at the other people’s situation, thus fulfilling his duty as a lord.

On the other hand, the blood-eating spirit vulture Revernor was ordered by him to move freely, and that spirit-bodied raptor was already soaring high above Transylvania under the darkness of the night, as if it was patrolling its own territory.

He had also quickly found a “new friend”.

Natalie’s falcon Swift Shadow and Trish’s spirit pet three-eyed raven Weber were chased around by it as “prey”, relying on its own large size and fast flight, it did whatever it wanted to bully its compatriots with the same wings, but it didn’t have too much malice, it was just playing with them with an uninhibited personality and claiming the sovereignty of this night sky.

As a spirit, it doesn’t crave a diet of flesh and blood.

Even the fat rat it just caught was just a “hunting ritual” for its birth in the new world.

The other self did not leave behind a single thought or feeling, allowing the spirit vulture born from Murphy’s consciousness to have the simple mind of a real beast.

But the other Murphy did lend his eyes to himself as promised.

As long as Murphy closed his eyelids at that moment, he could use Revernor’s vision to observe the dark earth below from high above.

The switching of the two perspectives did not have any lag, and the two sides’ thinking was also common, Murphy could feel the newborn joy and free-spirited pleasure in Reverno’s heart at this time.

With the spirit pet Reverno that shared the same mind, Murphy could finally inspect his new territory from a more macroscopic perspective.

The free-flying, swift and super-fast spirit vulture soon discovered something noteworthy as it circled over Cadman City in the night, and it saw in the air one of the Blood Knights under Paranor’s command standing in front of Missy’s tent, talking about something with Mrs. Adele, who was guarding the place.

From the spirit vulture’s sharp vision Murphy could see that Adele’s expression was not a good one.

This made Murphy narrow his eyes.

He reached out and flicked his hand, a black shadow whooshed out from the tent behind himself, circled around him and was held in his backhand again.

The Desire Magic Sword Necessary Evil was very weak at the moment.

It longed for blood to replenish its missing power but didn’t dare to make a scene in front of Murphy, and it behaved immensely not only because Murphy was bound to its soul and was already its new master.

More importantly, this miracle sword knows very well why it has fallen into this bad situation.

It obeyed Murphy not only because Murphy conquered it, but also because it was in awe of the horrible purification power called “Omega” hidden in Murphy’s body, if a sword really has a heart eye.

If a sword really has a mind’s eye, it is a great power that can confront subspace chaos head on and purify it.

In terms of absolute power, Murphy’s “anti-virus program” may not be enough to see, but in terms of the realm, this thing is obviously on the same level or even higher than those subspace shadows that play with the living beings and the world.

The Demon Blade of Desire does not have a personalized will, but it does have its own unique character.

Arrogant and respectful, arrogant when it was powerful, but knowing how to protect itself when it was down, it was indeed very similar to the racial character of a vampire.

From Murphy’s contact with the Great Oak Sacred Blade, which was said to be very fond of cursing, it seemed that all miraculous creations had their own personalities just like the Necessary Evil.

“Behave yourself.”

Murphy wore the magical sword at his waist and quietly hid it into the darkness of the night.

Arriving in front of Missy’s tent in a silent blood wing glide, Mrs. Adele sensed the breath of her Eminence, she immediately stepped out of the tent then saw Murphy appearing out of the darkness with his hands behind his back, so she immediately bowed down to her Eminence in salute.

“What is the Blood Knight doing running here?”

He asked:
“Is it related to Onii-chan?”

“He came to inform Missy that she is to return to the Dark Mountain Range with Lord Paranor in two days, and it is said that it is an order from Venerable Lord Paying requesting that the daughter of the Blood Vulture Clan’s matriarch go ahead and report to him and explain the causes and consequences of the incident in Cadman City.”

Lady Adele said in a muffled voice:
“It’s not certain that Lord Paranor hasn’t sensed anything strange about the eldest lady, but it stands to reason that he shouldn’t have that much time to investigate this. After all, he joined the battlefield in the Cloister almost immediately after Lady Tris summoned him here.

Onii-sama is still unconscious at this time, and I . I’m hesitant to tell her about this?”

“What else can you do if you don’t tell her? Could you have escaped to the other side of the world by protecting Femis?”

Murphy shook his head and sighed:
“Since Venerable Lord Paying ordered in advance, it means that the strongest ancient person in that vampire society has already noticed this place, and you and Femis fleeing and leaving now only proves that you have a ghost in your heart, and the follow up will surely incur a thunderous strike from the Blood League Knights.

But you actually don’t have to worry too much about this.

Tris had already made it clear before that under the fact that Salokdar was dominated by subspace, all the sins and taboo breaking on Phimis could be attributed to him.

And now as the hero who had broken the subspace rift to preserve the Transylvania region, even Venerable Lord Paying had to be cautious in his treatment of Missy.

But it’s prudent to put another layer of insurance on this.”

“Hmm?”

Mrs. Adele was a little confused about what Murphy meant.

She looked at her honored elder in confusion, but Murphy didn’t explain as he said:

“You and Maxim will lead people into the collapsed area of the Blood Wyvern Cloister first thing in the morning, and clear out the place where the secret treasure vault is located first, my three warriors will assist you, and this matter should be completed as soon as possible.

I’ll take care of Missy!
Also, notify Miriam for me, I want to talk to her first thing tomorrow morning about the Victory Celebration.”

“As you wish, my lord.”

Adele now had no resistance to Murphy’s orders.

She bent down to say goodbye.

Taking a few steps back, she opened her blood wings and flew into the night sky to deliver Murphy’s orders, and in the meantime, she searched for suitable manpower to prepare for the excavation work that would begin tomorrow.

Before becoming a vampire, Mrs. Adele was Missy’s housekeeper, responsible for handling all the trivial matters for Missy, and Murphy’s orders were just a matter of familiarity for her.

And after Adele left, Murphy reached out and lifted the curtain of the tent and walked into it.

A darkness couldn’t block the vampire’s vision, and he could clearly see Missy lying on the simple bed with her back to him, her shoulders shrugging and suppressing her voice, apparently crying silently.

She had woken up earlier. Tonight this had been a difficult fight back for survival for the onlookers, and for her no less than the worst nightmare of her life.

As it turned out, her birth and growth had been nothing more than a plan for Salokdar, and it was highly likely that the Blood Vulture Archduke had never considered Phimis as his own, and that all of his kindness and caring had been out of a show and a necessary part of advancing the plan.

It is a sad story for the onlooker.

But for the protagonist of this story, that feeling of a life falling apart Murphy hardly needed much thought, much less substitution, to understand a thing or two.

“On the bright side, you at least have an older brother who is honorable to a fault, Adele is still devoted to you, and my warriors are still willing to go through fire for everything you command.”

Murphy stood beside the bed and whispered:

“You haven’t lost everything.

Though lies took up most of the first thirty years of your life, it was because the lies were so blazing that made what little truth you had in your hands seem all the more valuable Well, I can’t make this up, I don’t know what I’m talking about myself.

I haven’t been through what you’ve been through and there’s really no way I can empathize with you.

But as I said before.

I’m starting to pity you, Femis, you’re so miserable that all the hardships that Tris and I have suffered in the past seem like nothing compared to you.”

“Get out!”

Femis said in a hoarse voice tinged with sobs:
“Leave me alone! I don’t want to talk to about this right now, you’ve got everything you wanted, territory, prestige and power, you’ve got it all, leave me alone.”

“But I came to return something, Missy.”

Murphy stepped in front of her and reached down to remove a delicate bronze case from his psionic bag, the very same binary mechanical code box that he had previously used to store the Core Treasure Pearl.

He placed the object in front of Missy’s eyes and gently opened it.

A mass of entwined scarlet streams of light appeared in the tent, not unlike the usual vampire hearts that were dug up.

Instead of immediately turning into a solid mass like bloodstone, Salokdar’s heart was slowly beating inside the box as if it still possessed some kind of strange vitality.

To be honest, this scene looked a bit shocking.

“He didn’t even put up any resistance when I was executing him, and it was clear that all it took was a single psychic shock to repel and seriously injure me, but he didn’t do that.”

Murphy said softly:
“I don’t know what kind of consideration he had for doing that, but that doesn’t stop me from thinking that he might have wanted to leave you something as a ‘father’. Well, in a sad situation like the one at hand, let’s just think about things in a nice, cozy direction for a moment.

So if you want to keep it “

“Tris needs it more than I do.”

Missy didn’t even look at the vampire heart that was being placed in front of her.

She had no regard or interest in the power that had been brought to her door, and covered her head with the covers and spoke in a muffled voice of disgust:

“Tris was compelled by my father to use the essence of her own blood to create the monster I am! She sacrificed herself to bring me into being.

I owe her that.

And my father owes her. Take it to Tris.

And, Murph! You hypocrite, that’s what you actually wanted in the first place, isn’t it? What kind of comfort is it to you to put a father’s heart in front of a desperate daughter’s eyes?”

“Uh, I think I just acted well enough, but you still caught the end of it, and I have to say, Missy, you’re really sharp and venomous when you’re not so repressed.”

Murphy spoke briskly as he put away the mechanical code box in his hands, he took a step back and looked at Phineas who poked his head out in front of him staring at him with red eyes.

He thought for a moment and spoke to her in a very serious tone:

“A bad man died tonight! If you’re a bad person then you should feel scared and terrified, if you’re a good person then you should celebrate and be happy. In any case, crying shouldn’t be in this option.

He doesn’t deserve your tears.

And I tried to warn you last time.

You’re a vampire, Missy, and you’re pressed for tears.

Something as tender as tears doesn’t belong to us, and crying isn’t a common way for vampires to get through their grief. We usually grab a few random unlucky souls off the street and suck them dry for our own amusement, and you heard the conversation between Adele and I just now, didn’t you?

You’re about to follow the Palanor Knights forward to an audience with the Venerable Lord Paying, and I think that would be a much more alarming experience for you than facing your nightmare father head on.

So instead of wasting time on things that can no longer be changed, why don’t you be realistic?

Think hard about how you’re going to survive at the hands of Venerable Lord Paying, who is more than ten times more terrifying than your father.”

After saying that, Murphy courteously and elegantly bent down to bid farewell to Missy.

And as he walked to the entrance of the tent with the mechanical box in his arms, Missy behind him sat up her body, she wiped her somewhat sore eyes and whispered:
“At first I thought I was a vampire of noble birth, a true midnight aristocrat, and I learned to be just as cold-blooded and just as cunning and just as vicious as the rest of my countrymen.

But I never learned.

It wasn’t because I was stupid.

Quite the contrary, I just had more emotions than they did, emotions that didn’t belong to vampires.

And now I know why.

I’m a monster, Murph.

I should never have mimicked the life of a vampire from the beginning, and luckily, you seem to be an alien in our pack as well, so can I ask you for advice on how I can continue my life that has collapsed or never existed after just learning the truth that I am in fact a pack alien as well?”

“Good question!”

Murphy snapped his fingers and looked back at Missy, making a cheering gesture toward her with a slack-jawed expressionless face:
“Step up! Gather your courage and face everything head on, don’t be a pussy about it! Femis, you’re the genius of the Bloodwing Clan, and Tris has even admitted herself that you’re only that much dumber than her.”

“So the best advice you can give me after you’ve seen what I’ve been through with your own eyes is to ‘step up’?”

Missy said as she clenched her fists:

“I’m not kidding you, I’m really looking for advice.”

“Emmm.”

Murphy said to her as he cocked his head in thought:
“Then my advice is to treat this like a game. Stay out of it or get into it all you want, just don’t worry so much about the outcome, enjoying the process is the most important experience in a game.”

“A game?”

“Yes, the game! And lo and behold, the stage is pulled back, the lights come on, and the supporting cast is in place! The new – upgraded and enhanced version of Missy Femis is about to make her debut! Will she disappoint those who have reported on her? Will she be crushed into a brunette loser by the heavy waves of fate?

Oh, let’s wait and see for us front row viewers who have already bought tickets.”

Murphy turned and walked off into the blackness, waving his head in the closing and unfolding of his massive blood wings, and said to Missy, who was watching him:

“If life is also a game, then the only criterion for enjoying it is not whether or not you can pass the level, but whether or not you harvest fun from it? After all, even if a game without fun is well crafted, who would play it?

If life is a game, then everyone who is still alive is the lucky one who got the test qualification! If your game of life is all pain and no joy, then I think you should think about it.
Is there something wrong with the way you play this game?

Well, reflect on it while you still have some time.”
