Chapter 731 – LH01’s Memory
Chapter 731 – LH-01’s Memory
Under the distant and dim starlight, the Ancient God that loomed like a star-shaped mountain range emitted a low and overlapping tremor, and His voice was enough to drive the world’s most hard-willed humans into madness, and enough to cause the rules and order of the real world to collapse – however, when that voice reached Duncan’s ears, the only thing he felt was …… weakness and exhaustion.
It was the erosion of ten thousand years and the heavy load of the entire world.
Duncan had prepared a lot of questions to ask before he came, but after hearing the voice from that dark mountain range, he still asked about Alice first: “So, that ‘tentacle’ of the Frost Deep Sea at the beginning was really released by you consciously?LH-03 …… Pilot III, what the hell is going on? Why did you send Pilot Three to the real world in the form of ‘Alice’?”
The star-shaped mountain range was silent in the darkness, and it took a while before the low tremor resounded again, “Because it was the only way to keep LH-03 going ……My core programs are falling into chaos, and can no longer continue to support the sandbox environment used to maintain LH-03. ”
On the sidelines, Shirley and Dog were maintaining their sober sanity under the shelter of the Captain, yet they couldn’t help but begin to question their own minds as they heard the Captain talking to the Profound Holy Lord: recognizing every word but not understanding a word of it – what was the core program? And what was the sandbox?
But the captain clearly knew what he was discussing with the feared ancient god.
In just a few seconds of thought, Duncan connected many of the clues and guessed what was going on in the situation that the Profound Holy Lord – or Pilot One – was talking about.
“Are you saying …… that LH-03 has been running inside you since the New Hope disintegrated?”
A response came from the mountains, “It looks like you already know a lot.”
“…… I found that key.” Duncan nodded after a slight hesitation.
He was sure the other would know what he meant by ‘key’.
As expected, the Profound Holy Lord did not have the slightest doubt about this, and He only transmitted a low and gentle buzz that seemed to indicate recognition before slowly speaking, “Since you already know about the New Hope …… then our communication will be much simpler. Yes, everything is as you said.”
He then fell silent, seemingly sorting through the crumbs of memories of the long past in His own overly large database, or perhaps organizing his words and thinking about how to explain in the most understandable way those things that had happened before the beginning of history, and it was some time before Duncan heard the whisper of the ancient god from that dark mountain range – –
“In the beginning, there were three of us.”
Dense lights shimmered across the body of this ancient god, as the rivers of stars He had witnessed flowed.
“Our creators …… were an intelligent and resilient people, who slowed the passage of time before disaster struck, and then spent a century building that ship in a time pod capsule – all the while creating The three of us.
“I was born in the first place, and it was my duty to recreate everything about our civilization when the New Hope arrived in its new home, and to that end, they gave me the mission to create and replicate, and made it possible for me to comprehend and recombine all matter.
“Pilot II was born after me, and its duty, to control the operations of the entire Ark, while recording and processing all datatable information, will think in the place of the creators when they fall asleep, and decide the fate of that ship.
“Pilot Three, on the other hand, is the smallest of us, and its duty, is to chart the right course for the Ark through the stars – to this end, it records the bearings and evolutionary rules of all known stars, and controls all the engine systems on the Ark.”
Before Duncan’s eyes, the sinuous, looming mountain range dimmed, then was slowly illuminated by lights, taking on a shocking silhouette.
“I …… would love to describe to you here our civilization, the civilization of our creators, and I would like you to know how brilliant and magnificent it was, wonderful as the supreme jewel among the stars, but …… all that has been annihilated at the end of the stars , and inefficient verbal communication cannot recreate the slightest bit of its splendor, all I …… can say is that, on a suitable day, we set out.
“With everything of our civilization.
“Before departing, I was ordered to devour the Creators’ home planet and store everything on the planet’s surface in a memory bank in case it should be duplicated; Pilot Three chose the most likely safe spot in the depths of the swarming stars and ignited the engines the instant the time pods ruptured; Pilot Two then took over the rest of the ship’s systems, and the sleeping minds of the Creators were properly protected in the depths of its sea of minds …… Then, before the deep red that symbolizes doom consumes everything, we set sail.
“Due to the lack of a database, I can no longer determine exactly how long we sailed, all I know is that …… we kept moving forward, following the course charted out by Pilot Three, while that crimson, like a tidal wave, pursued us across the universe, the stars collapsing around us, the fabric of space-time collapsing behind us. The structure of time and space collapsed behind us, and the universe gradually fell apart, and everything …… eventually shifted completely away from the way it was recorded in the database.
“In fact, as early as the moment we set out, Pilot II had already calculated the end of this journey – it has always been able to calculate the final outcome of things ahead of time, and our voyage …… ultimately failed to jump out of its calculations. “After the last hyperspace jump, we came to an end – that ‘safe’ new home in Pilot III’s calculations fell apart as the probe watched.
“The stars went out suddenly, and a brilliant light poured out of the great rift into which we crashed, a myriad of torn fragments impacting on the ship’s shields and shell as a strange world crashed on the edge of our universe – that was the last message that came through before Pilot Two’s signal aberration, and then our ship disintegrated.
“And while this disintegration …… completely destroyed the ship’s Ark worlds, the worst damage was to the navigation pod that Pilot Three was in – its solid structure was torn to shreds.”
The trembling in the depths of the star-shaped mountain range subsided for the time being, but in front of Duncan, a “river” with a dull blue light glittering on its surface appeared abruptly on the ground, as if a viscous fluid reflecting the starry sky flowed from the direction of the mountain range, meandered around Alice, and then gradually seeped back into the depths of the earth.
Alice’s eyes widened as she watched in amazement.
“I did what I could to try and save our Ark, including Pilot Three,” the low, overlapping whisper of the Ancient God came into Duncan’s ears once more, “I devoured everything around me, storing them within the ‘Vault of Creation’, and I also devoured the remains of LH-03 and stored its data within my own redundant database …… I wanted to preserve everything about the Ark world, for in the moment of traveling through that rift, I had seen the last moments of my home universe falling apart.
“The Creator gave me orders to rebuild our civilization, and we …… have been all that is left of our civilization.”
In the darkness, the low tremor subsided, and Duncan pondered quietly, not speaking for a long time, until after an unknown amount of time, he suddenly broke the silence, “But your state has deteriorated.”
“The state of everything is deteriorating, usurper, this Armageddon is not over, it has merely been postponed – my weakening is but an insignificant part of its progression,” the Profound Holy Lord reacted more calmly than Duncan could have imagined. “But the Creators built the New Hope despite the faintest of hopes, and Pilot II authorized that expedition despite having calculated the outcome of the journey – the Creators told me that whatever is done is better than nothing.
“So, I dropped LH-03 into the real world …… although at that point, I didn’t know if it made sense to do so or how things would actually play out – to avoid an out-of-control expansion, I cut off the connection with that part of the data carrier, so ……”
He paused briefly, seemingly weighing his statement, before those starry lights continued to brighten and fade, “Frankly speaking, I was actually surprised when I saw LH-03’s current ‘state’ ……. It wasn’t in the plans.”
“The portion of the ‘data carrier’ you put out created a shell in the image of a human and slipped LH-03 into it – she’s now called Alice,” Duncan sighed softly, “It was quite a messy process, to be honest.”
“…… But regardless, LH-03 survived and eventually guided you to me.”
Duncan frowned slightly at that, “Was that part of your plan?”
“No it wasn’t, I don’t know how to calculate a lot of things like LH-02 does, my role is simply to replicate and create, but …… I believe in destiny, and destiny can guide some things.”
“…… It’s a somewhat subtle feeling to hear a machine say that it believes in destiny,” Duncan said with an odd expression, “…… Do you mind if I say that you are a ‘machine’?”
“Don’t mind, it’s a very affectionate title, it’s been many years since anyone called me that,” the Profound Holy Lord remained calm, “So what else do you want to know next?”
Duncan was briefly silent for a few seconds after hearing this, and opened his mouth to ask, “Rather than what I want to know, let’s talk about your purpose – you went to such great lengths to establish communication with me in Alice’s Mansion, and allowed me to come to these Profound Depths, so you shouldn’t just be doing it for the sake of chatting with me! …… What do you want me to do?”
This time, the “mountain range” in the darkness was silent for a longer time, and even the countless flickering lights and dark blue light streams on its surface also fell into a death-like extinction, and after an unknown period of time, until Shirley and Dog were beginning to worry a little bit that the Holy Lord was not being killed by the captain’s question, those lights and light streams suddenly brightened up! .
The ancient god’s whispers echoed throughout the deep, deep sea-
“Fire Usurper, are you willing to take over this?”
