Chapter 510 – Banister’s Thoughts
Chapter 510 – Banister’s Thoughts
Banister’s response was simple, straightforward, and honest.
Lune didn’t even react at first.
“Then what are you talking so much about,” the short, stubby Loon couldn’t help but grunt, “so much skepticism, I almost thought you were going to go back today and seal up the Church Ark …… “
“I’m just emphasizing the risk behind this matter,” Banister’s face didn’t change its expression at all, his withered and bloodless countenance looked extremely serious, “We all know what happened back then on the Thirteen Islands of Vesseland- -‘The Islands sank’ is just a more mildly eclectic way of putting it; the essence of the whole thing was actually that our real world had created a massive connection with subspace, and that area of the sea is still not stable enough, and those Leviathans… …”
“It’s safe, Banister,” Lune interrupted calmly, his eyes azure as if infused with a shimmering light of calmness and wisdom, “I’m not some crazy scholar who dares to bring the relics of the border inside a civilized world in a fit of hot-headedness- -Those Leviathan ‘corpses’ were first subjected to a full ten years of research and verification in the Truth Academy’s experimental waters, and it was only after eliminating all unstable factors that I decided to transform them into church arks.”
Banister was quiet for a while, and it was only after a dozen seconds or so that Frem, who was on the side, broke the silence with a deep voice: “In any case, with the circumstances at that time we had to build the ‘Parade Ark’-Luon took some risks, but without those arks, we would have had to build the ‘Parade Ark’,” he said, “I would have had to build the ‘Parade Ark’. risk, but without those arks, I’m afraid we would have lost contact with the Four Gods by now.”
In the chaotic darkness of space, the four figures coincidentally fell into silence.
“…… Sometimes I really can’t help but think this way, whether the four ‘Leviathans’ that appeared on the eastern border are really some kind of gift from fate,” Lune shook his head and softly muttering, “Without them, the Academy of Truth could not have constructed a touring ark large enough to serve as an ‘Earthly God’s Kingdom’ when all our other alternatives had little chance of success-friends, I admit that I did concealed many details of those Leviathans, but I hope you understand that it was, after all, a border collapse …… When the ark was delivered back then, I told you not to be curious about where ‘they’ came from, and to just think of it as a miracle. ”
“A gift of fate …… ” Banister slowly spoke, “If I can, I really do not want to hear this sentence, this gives me the feeling as if it is a bloody sacrifice, the countless living souls of the thirteen islands of Vesseland were sacrificed to that ship ship in exchange for the four parade arks of today.”
“It can’t be said that way, there is no evidence to prove that the appearance of ‘Leviathan’ is the handiwork of the ‘Lost Country’, it’s just that everything in the world is connected, and there are some things that appear that happen to correlate with other things “And now that ‘that ship’ is sailing on the Infinite Sea, whether you want to admit it or not, its owner has regained his humanity, and the warnings from the Lost Country are just like the warnings from Captain Duncan when he discovered the ‘Border Collapse’ a century ago. ‘Border Collapse’ phenomenon is a warning that we must face up to and heed, as I always say ……”
“Truth is not subject to the attitudes of men, for it has its own eternity,” Banister waved his hand, “I know, I’m getting calloused listening to you recite this stuff.”
Helena looked up at Lune, then at Banister, and after a slight hesitation spoke up, “Banister, if you still don’t feel right about this, why don’t you try talking to that ‘Captain Duncan’ directly? Take a look at his current attitude, and even …… confirm the truth about the Vesseland Thirteen Islands back then to him. Although he is now announcing to the public that he has memory damage, if you personally contact him ……”
Before she could finish her sentence, Banister had already waved his hand forcefully.
“Helena, among your many outrageous ideas, this is also one of the outrageous excesses.”
“All right, I’ll say it.”
“At this stage, it is true that we still need to be cautious about communicating with the Lost Country,” Loon also said at the right time, “The current level of contact is already quite bold, and furthermore …… must take into account the effects of subspace, we can’t afford to leave any possibility of contamination on the Parade Ark.”
The rocky giant like Frem slowly moved his sight at the words and swept his gaze over the three popes who were talking.
“Then your three saints are still abducted on board ……”
Helena and Lune spoke at the same time, “That wasn’t abducted onto the ship!”
Banister, on the other hand, waited for the two men’s words to fall before adding nonchalantly, “My saint is still in the church, and the one who boarded the ship is just a shadow.”
In the next second, silence suddenly fell once again in the chaotic darkness of the space, as if some sort of awkward and subtle atmosphere was lingering between the four.
In the end, it was Lune who first broke the silence, “In any case, none of you should have revealed the truth about the ‘Leviathan’ at the bottom of the church’s ark to your own saints, right?”
“No,” Helena was the first to shake her head, “Although I first associated it with Leviathan when I heard Vanna mention the amazing structure underneath the city-state, I did not reveal anything to her.”
Banister followed suit, shaking his head, “I’d be more inclined to go to you, the old man, first to figure out what it’s all about than to add to the distress of the magi under my command – though it seems that’s about all you know at this point.”
The third of the Frem shook his head, “My saints have not been abducted to the ship ……”
The three voices finally spoke in unison, “Are you finished?!”
“…… I’ll stop talking.”
“Holding off on disclosure is the right thing to do,” Lune gave the rock-giant-like Frem a rather helpless look and retracted his gaze to nod at Helena and Banister, “Right now the intelligence is too low, and we also need to first find a way to confirm what exactly is going on down in the city-state, and to confirm that the intelligence on the Lost Country ship whether it is correct or not, before we can make the next arrangement.”
He paused at this point and added, “And when the conditions are right, we can contact ‘that ship’ again through our respective Saints, as for now …… it’s better to discuss discussing the Lost Country’s remaining portion of the ‘Showers of Warning’.”
Everyone’s expressions turned serious with his words.
“I’ll start with my opinion,” Banister was the first to speak up, “I think that we need to address the Lost Country’s ‘show of warning’ by creating a ‘monitoring’ system that spans between the Church, the city-states, and the ocean-going fleets ‘monitoring’ system – the coverage should be wide, and the area covered should be complete, because if the content of that warning is true, and the Ancient Gods really do exist in all things, then any dead angle that is not covered could be the cause of the next ‘Frost Crisis’ point of original explosion. “On top of that, the patrol fleets of the major churches will have to adjust accordingly, just like …… when we were on guard against the ‘Border Collapse’.”
Helena gave Banister a somewhat surprised look.
“It looks like Loon’s worry just now was redundant, you took the warnings coming from the Lost Country seriously enough, I would have thought that you would have questioned all the intelligence coming from that ship because of the impact of the Vesseland Thirteen Islands incident.”
“Precisely because of the effects of the Thirteen Islands of Vesseland, and the recent ‘Frost Crisis,'” Banister said extraordinarily solemnly, his tone low and serious, “these events have convinced me of one thing –that what has to do with that ship cannot be trivial, and therefore I will keep a close eye on everything connected with that ship, more closely than anyone else.”
……
The dark sea was rapidly returning to normal, the chaotic shadows that littered the sky were gradually filled with sunlight, and the sky and sea returned to that brightly colored, warm and calm appearance, while the eerie green flames that pervaded the entire ship gradually subsided and converged as it broke away from the spirit world.
Duncan’s spirit flames faded, and he loosened his grip on the wheel, feeling the surge of power gradually subside.
The rudder wheel began to fine-tune itself, and there was a creaking sound from deep within the hull – the goat’s head took over control of the ship, and with it, the Lost Country’s speed dropped once more and gradually returned to the standard speed it had been cruising at on weekdays.
As soon as Duncan had left the bridge, Alice came running over with glee, “Captain! Captain! Are we in the south?”
“How can that be?” Duncan sniffed and gave the mannequin a helpless look, “Do you know how far it is from Frost to Lightwind Harbor?”
Alice scratched her hair, “Oh, I thought we were there when I saw you slowing down and the Lost Country was out of spirit world status ……”
“Floating up to the real world ‘for a change of air’,” Duncan said casually, “It’s not good for your physical or mental health to be sailing in the depths of the spirit world for long periods of time, and there’s several other normal humans aboard… …”
He stopped abruptly in mid-sentence, then shook his head.
“Being back in the real world, with the sea breeze and sunshine, can ease the stress during an ocean voyage, and the Lost Country itself needs a rest and relaxation.”
“That’s true,” Alice nodded her head in small increments, a pleasant smile on her face, “they do all get quite tense, and they all relax a lot more once they’re back in the sun.”
Duncan knew that by “they” the figure was actually referring to the buckets, cables and pots and pans on the ship – she had somehow gotten so close to the living things on the ship that she could even tell when those things were in a “mood” to get out of the way. “moods” to ……
It was all good, though.
“After that Goathead take the helm, I’ll rest for a while,” Duncan said to Alice, “Scones, fish fillets and vegetable soup for dinner today.”
“Ay!” Alice immediately agreed happily.
The mannequin lady then looked up at the sky.
The sun had already gradually sunk near the sea horizon, and the outer ring of the double runic circle had already begun to sink below the surface of the sea.
“Then I’ll go cook first!”
Alice yelled, and turned to run in the direction of the kitchen.
Duncan, with a smile on his face, kept watching Alice’s figure disappear behind the cabin door at the end of the deck.
He then exhaled softly and turned to the door of the captain’s cabin at the end of the deck.
The door of the Lost Countryman.
Duncan’s eyes swept over the line of letters on the door, placed his hand on the knob, and pushed the door open.
