Chapter 495 – Gathering of Followers

Chapter 495 – Follower Gathering

Accompanied by a wave and swirling sea water, the submersible rushed out of the water.

The afternoon sun was shining on this sea, the thick shell of the submersible was glowing coldly under the sunlight, then the disposable smoke device on the top of the hull was activated, accompanied by a flash of fire, a slight explosion sounded, and a column of orange-colored smoke rose straight up into the blue sky.

After a period of attitude and power adjustment, the submarine’s floating state tends to stabilize, accompanied by creaking and rattling sounds, the side of the hull’s locking device opens, accompanied by the handle rotating, Duncan from the inside of the submarine’s hatch opened.

Fresh air came in – even for two “corpses” that didn’t need to breathe, the fresh, cold air above the surface was especially pleasant.

The illusion of being chased, entangled and stranded by something unnamed in the depths of the sea finally faded from her mind, and Agatha, gripping the handrail, climbed out of the hatch with Duncan onto the top shell of the submersible and looked out over the endless ocean.

Duncan looked slightly sideways at the gatekeeper, “How does it feel to be back in the sunlight?”

“As if returning once more through the gates of that realm of death,” Agatha said softly, “I never imagined that sunlight and air would bring such a shock of near rebirth to myself – but only after I could feel neither the sun’s warmth, nor could I enjoy a smooth breath.”

“What about ‘her’?” Duncan asked again, “The other Agatha never showed up during the dive, but she should have been watching the whole time, right?”

“We felt similar, but she said she had some things she needed to think about for a while, and is silent now – would you like to talk to her? I can call her out ……”

“No need, let her think, this deep dive is going to be a triple rejuvenation and baptism for all of us, we have a lot to think about,” Duncan waved his hand gently, then lifted his head and looked out at the distant horizon, “Oh, and the Tirion sent the ‘ Recycling Ship’ spotted us, looks like we won’t have to make our own way to the city-state.”

The silhouette of a steam fast ship appeared on the surface, heading quickly in the direction of the diver’s signal smoke rising ……

The submersible had returned without incident, and his father and the “gatekeeper” lady were on their way back unharmed – when the “swift document” was delivered to his desk through the pressure pipe, he was told that he had been waiting for the “Gatekeeper” in Southport. When this “swift document” was sent to his desk through the pressure pipe, Tirian, who had been waiting for the news in South Harbor, couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.

But immediately afterward, a strange feeling surfaced from the bottom of his heart.

He got up from behind his desk and slowly paced to the window, somewhat lost in thought as he looked out the window at the sunlight that was gradually sinking, and in the silence, Lucrecia’s voice suddenly came out from the crystal ball not far away, “Is it father who has news?”

Tirion looked back at the crystal ball that was glowing on the desk, his tone was a bit odd, “You can even see …… that I’m acting obvious?”

Lucrecia in the crystal ball had a slice of bread in her mouth, one hand was rapidly writing and calculating on the draft paper floating in mid-air next to her, the other hand was still busy adjusting the experimental apparatus on the desk, taking the time to look up at her elder brother while saying casually in a vague manner, “Three parts nervousness, three parts hesitation, three parts comfort, and one part fearfulness and uncertainty! –That must be father returning.”

“Is …… that how you scholars are accustomed to speak to people? I sound like a pie chart in your mouth ……” Tirian frowned, then he couldn’t help but sigh, “I’m just a little bit emotional, if it was not so long ago, I would never have imagined that I would be comforted by the fact that my father had returned safe and sound –I wasn’t in this frame of mind when I first learned of his ‘return’.”

“Yes, you were nearly cramped in the legs at first, didn’t sleep for three days after commanding the Sea Mist and fighting Dad, and called me up in the middle of the night to describe your nightmares, and had to make me shiver with you ……”

“Stop! Don’t make up such non-existent details!” Tirian hurriedly interrupted his sister on the opposite side of the crystal ball, “And that’s not what I want to lament with you!”

Lucrecia quieted down, she finally put down her seemingly never-ending research work and uneaten bread in her hands for the time being, and lifted her head to look Tirian in the eyes very seriously.

It was only when this gaze almost caused goosebumps to rise on Tirian’s body that she finally broke the silence, “When I was little, my father used to leave the house for long, long periods of time, and at that time, whenever there was a bell ringing in the direction of the docks, we would climb up to the roof of the house to see if it was the Lost Country’s flag, and you would always tell me to be steady like a lady, and then take advantage of the opportunity to grab the highest place.”

“…… It’s been years,” Tirion was silent for a few seconds, and as if speaking softly to himself, “I remember the roof was blue, and the weathervane in the corner of the house whistled when the sea wind blew, and You tied a windmill to the side of the weathervane and said you wanted to show it off to father – and so our sneaking onto the roof was exposed.”

“Now we are all higher up than that roof was in the first place, and we have seen the landscape as father once saw it,” said Lucrecia in a soft tone; “but still we have not caught up with father-he has gone to the the deep sea, to depths that even the abyssal program of that year failed to reach …… What, do you think, will he find on this expedition?”

Tirion didn’t say anything for a moment, and in the very next second a splintering sound suddenly rang out from the mirror behind him, followed by Duncan’s voice from that mirror, “A very amazing secret has been discovered – I was just about to tell you all about it.”

Tirion nearly jumped out of his skin in an instant, his muscles tensing up, and the Witch of the Sea on the other side of the crystal ball reacted even more than he did – all he heard was an exclamation of surprise and a crash from Lucrecia’s side of the room, and then a flash of smoke and light rose from the crystal ball. He only heard a gasp and a crash from Lucrecia’s side, followed by a puff of smoke and a flash of light from the crystal ball.

Tirion turned his head with a tense body and saw that the mirror behind him was burning with an eerie green flame, and in the darkness of the mirror, Duncan poked his head out to look behind him, “…… Is everything okay on your sister’s side? Was she frightened by me?”

“Can you not use such a scary approach every time you appear ……” Tirian subconsciously chanted, but as soon as the words were out of his mouth, he felt bad, and rushed to confirm Duncan’s reaction – again. -The expression on his father’s face didn’t change much.

“I considered using a friendlier way of appearing, like knocking on the door ahead of time or delivering a teaser letter, but Vanna told me that it wasn’t the way I appeared that was intimidating, it was the fact that I appeared in itself that was intimidating,” Duncan looked at Tirian with a bemused expression, “I think she’s right so I simply didn’t change it –that way at least it’s a little more fun to watch people react with a startled look.” The corner of Tirion’s eye trembled, his father’s openness in the matter of “watching the fun” made him dumbfounded, but he quickly forced himself to compose himself, and looked at his father in the mirror curiously while regaining his expression, “Have you returned to the city-state already? I’m going to find you now ……”

“The avatar I used has returned, but you don’t need to go there,” Duncan interrupted Tirion, “Pack up your things and head straight to the Lost Country.”

Tirian was stunned, “Huh?”

“I have made a major discovery in the deep sea,” Duncan’s expression was particularly serious, “The information is not suitable for public consumption and may point to the Ancient Gods, so I need to gather everyone aboard the Lost Country to discuss it. I have already sent Agatha there, my followers have been gathered, and as you are the master of the Sea Mist and the new consul of the Frost, you must be there as well.”

Tirion instantly realized the peculiarity and seriousness of the situation from the tone of his father’s look and immediately gathered his relief as well, “Alright, I’ll leave a note to Aiden first to explain the situation.”

“Uh-huh.” Duncan nodded, and then immediately swept his gaze across the room again, his eyes landing on that intricately structured crystalline sphere lens device.

“Bring your crystal ball with you when you come aboard,” he said to Tirian, “Lucy would do well to hear the situation as well – there are secrets in the deep that would interest her.”

Tirian, who was writing a note, immediately looked up at this, first giving Duncan an unexpected look, and then nodding instantly, “Yes, I’ll be sure to bring my crystal ball with me – what’s the Lost Country’s current position? I’ll have a speedboat ready ……”

Before he could say anything, Duncan in the mirror waved his hand, “No need, Aey will take you there.”

“Knock, knock, knock” came through the window.

Tirion turned his head in the direction the sound came from and saw the plump white dove that always followed his father around.

The pigeon was outside pecking at the windowpane of the harbor office with its beak, and now tilted its head: “Getting in? There’s a big seat! The old driver drives, steady!”

Tirion: “……?”

……

The dining room of the Lost Country is the crew’s meeting place.

The long, wide dining table had been polished to a gleaming shine, bright oil lamps hung from pillars near the table, and the captain’s followers were gathered on either side of the table – Vanna and Maurice were sitting upright, Shirley and Alice were wandering about in a daze, Nina and Dog were each holding a book and reading hard, and beyond them, there were two new figures.

Agatha, dressed as a blind nun, sitting quietly at the long table in silent prayer, and Lawrence, who was wearing a white coat and clutching his pipe in a nervous manner.

The latter was nervously surveying the scene in the cabin.

Lawrence’s ship is now anchored in the nearby sea, the first mate is helping to manage the ship’s affairs, he, the captain of the ship was summoned by an order to the “general flagship”, no one told him when he came to tell him exactly what the matter, which makes the old captain inwardly apprehensive.

It was the first time he had ever set foot on the Lost Country, the legendary ghost ship that had returned from subspace, and Duncan Abnormale’s followers were gathered in the old, stately cabin, waiting under the lights for an order from Captain Duncan.

He already knew who these men were and where they came from – the

Moving mannequins, shattered suns, demons with spirits, inquisitors banished on oaths, legendary scholars on the edge of madness ……

Now, he is in the middle of it.

Not even in his wildest dreams and visions of the past had Lawrence imagined he would ever experience such a scene.

Why did he, an expedition ship captain …… who was all set to retire, end up mixed up here?
