Chapter 484 – Frost Queen

Chapter 484 – The Frost Queen
In the center of the beautiful bed, the newly awakened “master of the room” was leaning on the pillows, and looked at Duncan as an uninvited guest with a curious gaze, and the silver-white hair and violet eyes were so familiar.

Duncan subconsciously called out the name “Alice” – a low, hoarse, resonant voice that came directly from his chest.

But then he frowned a little, and, recovering from his momentary surprise and consternation, looked at the lady thoughtfully.

She wasn’t Alice – despite the identical appearance, her temperament was very different, and what’s more …… Alice wouldn’t be in this place, so the greater likelihood was that ……

“Rae Nora,” Duncan guessed the identity of the person in front of him, and with a questioning gaze, he looked into the other’s eyes and slowly spoke, “The Frost Queen?”

“It seems a long time since I’ve heard that title,” the recently awakened lady smiled, adjusting her position as she leaned on the bed with curiosity in her eyes, “Who are you? How did you manage to enter this room directly without opening that door?”

“Door?” Duncan’s brow furrowed in curiosity as he heard the word ‘door’ mentioned again, “What door?”

The lady didn’t say anything, she just raised her hand and pointed to a spot not too far to the side.

Duncan followed the direction of the other man’s finger and saw a closed doorway depicting an intricate pattern – it was clearly the door to this chamber.

“Anyone who can come here is either a servant of this mansion or a guest with a key in their hand; you are clearly not a servant of the mansion, but you do not have a key in your hand either.”

Duncan’s mind jumped – the key! The other party had just mentioned keys!
“The key you speak of, is it a brass key used to wind up mannequins?” He turned back to the man, his tone calmly masking all the emotional turmoil, “Are you really Rae Nora, Queen of the Frost?”

“I am indeed,” Rae Nora smiled up and shook her head gently, “but you have not answered my question – who are you?”

Duncan collected the change of emotion in his eyes and spoke nonchalantly as he quickly organized his thoughts in his mind, “…… You may call me Duncan.”

He merely said his first name without mentioning the more famous surname, but Rae Nora’s eyes widened slightly moments after hearing it, followed by an increasingly pleasant smile on her face, “Ah, so it is you – the legendary Captain Duncan. It is much more reasonable for you to enter this room, but …… I really didn’t expect you to be in this posture.”

Duncan sniffed, then looked down at his body.

Still that extremely strange black body, as if the Creator did not have time to fix the details of the human “rough”, this abstract appearance really can not be called “friendly face”.

“It’s just a temporary incarnation,” Duncan explained casually, with some embarrassment, and then he noticed a slight dissonance in the other man’s attitude, “You don’t seem that surprised? You knew I was coming?”

“I don’t know, but I lost the ability to be ‘surprised’ many years ago,” Rae Nora said calmly, “If you always see too much of what you shouldn’t, learn about all sorts of unbelievable and treacherous gestures, always experiencing death before it comes, and being trapped in a dream world right before you fall asleep, then sooner or later you’ll lose that ability as well ……”

She smiled, her light tone as if she was talking about the weather, “Even if there are still unpredictable things in the world, numbness will allow you to be open to all surprises.”

Duncan looked into Rae Nora’s eyes, recalling in a calm manner the various pieces of information related to this Frost Queen –

Rae Nora is said to be a natural psychic, whose psychic gifts are capable of communicating with a vast array of unseen existences, and it is rumored that she can even foretell the future and know the truth out of thin air ……

Sorting out this information in his mind, Duncan’s eyes did not change much, but he casually came to a corner of the room, dragged a chair to that big bed by himself, sat down and then looked at the Frost Queen’s eyes very seriously, “I have a lot of questions that I hope you can answer.”

“I have many questions as well,” Rae Nora smiled, “It has been too long since I have talked to anyone, and a visitor is precious to me – so if you are willing to answer my questions, I am willing to answer yours. ”

“Good, then I’ll make myself at home,” Duncan got right to the point, “What exactly is this place? Why are you here?”

“Ah, is that such a difficult question to answer to begin with …… ” Rae Nora frowned, seeming to genuinely agonize over how she should organize her words before speaking slowly, “To explain in more understandable terms, this place It’s a ‘drifting place’ – it’s not an exact location, but a ‘connection’ of many locations, do you see the darkness at the end of the room? The landscape out there sometimes looks different – the right conditions can make it connect to the right ‘place’, but for me, the only thing it does is make my dreams connect to the deep sea below the Frost.

“Do you need me to explain to you what that deep sea below the Frost means?” “No need,” Duncan shook his head, “Go on, why are you here?”

“Well, it looks like you already know what’s in the deep,” Rae Nora exhaled softly, “I’m here to embrace a dreamscape and make sure that the being in that deep can continue to sleep.”

Duncan’s eyes were serious, “The Holy Lord of the Deep?”

“…… It looks like you know more than I thought,” Lenora gave Duncan a quiet look, “But you are wrong, although He does come from that ‘King of Creeps ‘, the being in that deep sea is not the true Holy Lord of the Profound, it is technically just a replica.”

For a moment, Duncan recalled a phrase he had read earlier in that eerie ‘dark space’ – that the Cluster Controller had begun to replicate itself.

The huge “pillar” in the deep sea was indeed not the original body of the Profound Holy Lord, but only a replica that had somehow appeared in the real world!

So the most accurate scenario is that the replica of the …… Ancient God penetrated the “original blueprints of the city-state” in the deep sea, and the power that escaped from it led to a series of subsequent events? And the source of all this …… is because of the complete loss of control of the “Holy Lord of the Profound”?

Is it possible to think that before the appearance of this replica in the real world, the Profound Holy Lord did not lose control? He has deteriorated over the years to the present day?
Then if this line of thought continues to extend …… other gods? If the “horrible evil god” in the eyes of the world actually deteriorated from a stable state to an out-of-control state, then what is the situation of the “four gods” in the earthly world? Are they out of control? Or …… have they already begun to gradually lose control?
Duncan associated with the storm goddess and the god of death under the protection of the Prand and frost successive accidents, associated with the failure of the vision 001 …… this obvious, large-scale system gradually failure …… is the whole world is in the “Out of control” manifestation?

The unresolved conjecture was confirmed, a large number of chaotic ideas instantly rushed into the mind, Duncan blink of an eye and then associated with a series of events that took place in the boundless sea during this period of time.

Just then, Rae Nora’s voice came from the opposite side of the room, interrupting his brainstorming, “Now it’s my turn to ask.”

Duncan quickly collected his thoughts and organized his thoughts, “You ask.”

“How did you come to be here?” Rae Nora had a curious look in her eyes.

“In the deep sea below the Frost – I found the ‘replica’ and discovered a ‘portal’ that would allow access to this place at its breaking point ‘,” Duncan didn’t hold back, “and as for how I got to such depths …… it was in a Frost City State submersible.”

“A submersible?” Rae Nora frowned, but soon she seemed to guess what was going on, “Ah, it seems they did secretly build a new one ……”

“You knew that the ‘rebel government’ would build new submersibles after your …… death?” Duncan was a bit surprised, “As far as I know, the ‘Submarine Project’ was the source of that rebellion, and they ‘executed’ you in the name of it …… .”

“They will,” Rae Nora but just smiled, “because they are Frostbite.”

Duncan didn’t say anything for a moment, just looked at the former queen in silence.

The latter, in turn, calmly continued, “The Frosts never die silent and meekly, when the darkest hour comes we burn everything to survive, so when my subterranean plans get out of control and the city-states are in an existential crisis, there are sure to be vigilantes who will rise up and overthrow me in order to ensure the survival of even more people, and when they find out about the secrets of the deep sea they are sure to, like me like me, build up submersibles to try and solve the problem.

“They will improve their machines, they will slow down their plans, they will learn my radical lessons and do it all in a gentler and more harmless way, and if they still fail in this way, then a new army of the righteous will arise, and the successors will cut off the heads of the incompetent and try to do it all another way …… onward to the challenge of this cold darkness in the deep.”

“This will continue until the last Frostbite dies, or this darkness dissipates.”

She lifted her head and gazed calmly into Duncan’s eyes – the only eyes that held any semblance of humanity in the latter’s eerily appalling “rough” shell.

“I just didn’t expect that the one who came down in the submersible would be …… the legendary Captain Duncan, and a Captain Duncan who had apparently gained his senses. It seems my successor is a little more extreme than I was back then?”

“…… They failed,” Duncan said, but was silent for a few seconds, shaking his head softly, “A disaster destroyed the city-state government, and they were unable to restart the Subterranean program before the situation got out of hand- -the only good news is that the disaster eventually calmed down, and that submersible was the ‘trophy’ we found after things calmed down.”
