Chapter 482: Deeper Depths of the Deep Sea

Chapter 482 – Deeper Depths

In that moment, a strange and chaotic perception suddenly mixed into Duncan’s consciousness, as in the past “spirit world walking”, he felt his “perspective” suddenly split into two, and a new body became his new perception of the world’s “endings”, but not the same as before. A brand new shell became his new “endings” to perceive the world, but …… was not the same as the previous feeling.

The new “perspective” is filled with a disturbing flow of restless light, light and dark light and shadow is like some kind of scanning line diffuse in the body of water, he saw the far away piece of darkness shrouded “primitive land”, but also saw the land around the floating countless humanoid things! At the same time, he saw the inconspicuous submersible – it was hovering above the floating island in the deep sea, maintaining a forward angle, with pale light extending out from its front end and spreading little by little in the sea water.

All these, surrounded by the floating light and shadow, even if the submersible searchlight can not reach the place, he can “see” the shimmering light and silhouette – this is a new point of view.

Outside the porthole, in the deep sea, the body that suddenly began to move slowly raised its arm and touched its own head, which had no senses.

Rightly so, Duncan didn’t touch his eyes – the body he had just occupied had no such organs, in fact it didn’t even have molded arms and legs, and the bare ends of the limbs touched the flat, smooth face, and came away with a strange, rough, dull touch.

But suddenly, Duncan had a feeling …… he followed this feeling to manipulate his new shell, stretched out two arms and pressed the body’s “face”.

The black as mud, flat surface of the face wriggled, within a few seconds, the front of the face will be divided, formed two eyes.

The field of vision became much clearer all of a sudden.

Duncan, a little rusty in his control of the “rough” body, slowly swam over to the submersible and peered inside with his newly grown eyes.

He stared at himself, a new and strange sensation.

Agatha inside the submersible, however, couldn’t help but exclaim in hindsight, “Ah!”

It was only immediately afterward that she reacted, snapping her head around to look at Duncan, who was standing in front of the console, “You …… really scared me a bit.”

“You should learn to adapt,” Duncan said without turning his head as he focused on the condition of the machine inside the submersible, “I’m always a bit of a fussbudget around me.”

Agatha, however, was still in a state of shock, still looking tense, her “eyes” darting between Duncan and the “humanoid” outside the chamber several times, with only one thought in her head—“You should learn to adapt. –

The world is so afraid of Captain Duncan is really a reason, he is this lightly a move, in this endless deep sea is also too evil and horror.

But after hesitating for half a day, she still didn’t dare to say the thoughts in her head, and could only change the topic in a raw manner, “…… What are you going to do next?”

“This makeshift shell can see in the dark, I’m going to continue to check the situation ahead,” Duncan said casually, at the same time had begun to trigger a series of levers and cranks on the console, and along with his movements, the submarine’s mechanical compartment once again came from the endangered limit of the difficult noise, “As for the this side …… we need to go up some distance, this machine is barely holding up, it can’t stay at its limit depth.”

In the ballast tank hard to drain the low roar, the submarine slowly began to float, but Agatha still can not help but look out the porthole, looking at the light is fading away from the “humanoid”.

A ghostly flame suddenly appeared in the sea water, the body that carries the will of Captain Duncan waved his hand in this direction, and then turned around, accompanied by floating spirit flame, gradually sinking into the depths of darkness.

Cold, dark, lonely, silent.

Duncan’s consciousness gradually adapted in this strange temporary shell, he controlled this body to turn around, swim, move forward in the darkness, and towards the “Frost Island” floating in the deep sea.

The light of the submersible was already far away, and darkness once again dominated this deep sea, however, the green spiritual flame slowly spread in the sea water, this weak firelight, coupled with the body’s own strange perception ability, allowed Duncan to always be able to distinguish his surroundings, as well as the direction of advancement.

All around him, countless humanoid things floated in the cold seawater.

Like a grotesque gathering, the rough blanks of “people” were gathered in all directions, far or near, stagnant and blind, and slightly undulating with the sea currents, while the only one who possessed eyes was walking through this silent and weird “crowd”.

Duncan did his best not to touch the “humanoids” that floated near him, but he inevitably brushed against them at a very close distance.

Whenever he passed by them, he could not help but have some strange and horrifying associations – as if there were countless pairs of eyes, countless souls waiting to awaken, curiously surveying his uninvited guest, and even reaching out to him at any time.

But in the end nothing happened.

Those silent human forms were just silent; they were mindless and soulless, like hollow mannequins piled up with silt.

Duncan passed through these empty shells and came to a cliff at the edge of the Deep Floating Island.

He stopped and surveyed the ground in front of him.

This would be the southeastern coast of Frost, the world above the sea, and near this coast were harbors, warehouses, and customs offices, with a beautiful chapel standing on a sea cliff, and the path to the chapel was lined with hardy trees that were evergreen in the winter.

Here, however, the rugged coast was nothing but bare stone, of a strange blackish hue, like crude unpainted models. Duncan raised his head and looked in the direction of the center of the deep floating island.

In the interplay of darkness and shimmering light, he could faintly see some sort of massive structure there, like a mountain peak, or a giant pillar that ran the length of the island.

He associated it with the scene that the other party had shown him when he had exchanged words with Martha earlier –

Countless minds that had fallen into the sea had cast a glance toward that dark sea abyss on the eve of their dissipation, and the common impression they had gathered in their horror was that of a huge pillar running through a massive entity floating in the deep sea.

Now it seems that the massive entity presented in that vision is the “original blueprint” of the Frost before us today, so what about the giant pillar that runs through the island? Is it the Profound Holy Lord who “invaded” the real world? Or is it the so-called fake of ……?

Duncan thought for a moment, got up and swam towards the “pillar”, but after swimming a short distance he stopped again, feeling a little distressed in his heart.

It was too far, it was halfway across the city-state.

It was too far to cross half of the city-state, not to mention the deep sea, where it was difficult to move.

Even if this body wasn’t affected by the heavy pressure of the deep sea, it was really a time-consuming and laborious thing to swim all the way there like this.

Duncan pondered, and a thought gradually emerged.

He then hesitated for a few seconds before slowly lifting an arm in the seawater with the intention of giving it a try and swinging it gently.

As he did so, green flames spread out and in the blink of an eye, they converged into a revolving doorway, which opened up and a skeletal bird, wrapped in blazing flames, rushed out of it and surrounded Duncan in a loud clamor:

“Who is calling the fleet! Transmission successful! Transmission successful! Open the door, delivery man!”

Duncan’s eyes widened in dismay.

Aye flapped its wings beside him, still as relaxed and agile as if it were flying through the sky in this deep sea with its billions of tons of seawater weight, while its distinctive shrill female voice, as if it were some kind of pitch-shifted synthesized sound, was as raucous as ever, so clear it seemed like it could be drilled right into a person’s head.

The deep-sea environment seemed to be non-existent to Aey!
Duncan originally just held the mindset of trying to summon Ai over to see if it can be of any use, after all, this pigeon’s “teleportation” ability has repeatedly demonstrated its incredible utility, but after all, this is a very different from the surface of the deep sea, he has already prepared for once Ai can’t adapt to the environment to instantly teleport it back to the ship! He was ready to instantly transport Ai back to the ship once he couldn’t adapt to the environment, but what …… happened in front of him completely exceeded his expectations.

He was so dumbfounded to watch this pigeon as if flying in the air like flying around himself, staggering, watching it like an environmentally unaffected projection in the seawater, froze for a long time before reaching out to intercept the bird.

Aye obediently landed on Duncan’s arm and cocked his head curiously, “What’s what’s what’s what’s what?”

Duncan was just about to speak, but suddenly realized that he didn’t seem to have a beak in this body yet, and even if he did have a beak, he didn’t know how to speak directly in this deep sea, so he focused his mind and tried to convey his thoughts to this pigeon spirit-

“This is the deep sea, do you feel any discomfort?”

He gazed into Aey’s eyes, guessing whether the other could understand what he meant, and looked forward to its answer.

Aey cocked his head again.

“GG you come surfing too!” The bird suddenly flapped its wings excitedly, stars of ghostly green fire scattering from between its bony wings, “Skywing 3G, too fast, Skywing 3G, too fast!”

Duncan’s eyes shifted slightly as he listened thoughtfully to the pigeon spirit’s raving for a long time.

Until Aey himself grew quiet and pecked him curiously on the arm, “Application unresponsive?”

Only then did Duncan snap out of his musings and his thoughts quickly returned to the matter at hand.

There was business to be done.

He lifted his head and looked out into the distant chaotic darkness beyond, concentrating his mind once more and attempting to transmit his orders to the dovecote beside him-

“Take me to that place.”

“Command received! Command received!” Aey quickly responded, and as usual, it flapped its wings excitedly, causing a blazing fire to rise around it, “Mission accomplished!”

(Time to push a book, a book whose title starts off as raw grass, titled “The Great Han Loyalist Cao Mengde”, I’m looking for something I’d have to read just for the name alone to get there. Here’s the author’s own recommended blurb:
Cao Cao swears that he will fulfill the last wish of Xuan De’s virtuous brother. It doesn’t matter if Zhuge Liang doesn’t do it, after all, he’s a prime minister, and so am I. (This matter of replacing him, even if he, a loyal Han man, does his last bit for the Han.)
