Chapter 434.
Chapter 434: Burn Yet
In this instant, Frost, in the true sense of the word, became a city floating on a mirror.
The sea was this mirror.
What was reflected in the mirror was not only the twisted and horrifying mirrored city – there was also a pair of eyes that were burning with flames, as well as an existence that was even more gigantic than the city-state, and even as gigantic as this entire Frost sea.
The power of fire shifted in an instant, and all the flames that burned inside and outside of the mirror became a medium for power to be extended and amplified.
“Sir! Sir! Fire …… fire!”
The horrified cry of the junior officer roused Lister from his daze, and the latter, stirred to his senses, immediately looked out of the window at the sound of the voice – he saw that the whole coast was in flames, and even the whole of the sea had been set ablaze, with raging fires ascending, while an ethereal green emerged from the flames like running water, and quickly colored his whole field of vision .
The spiritual flames rising from all directions seemed to carry a power that shocked the soul, causing Lister to subconsciously retreat, however, in the next second, he saw that even the gas lamps embedded in the nearby walls, the flames inside were also quietly tinted with an ethereal green color.
Some kind of low roar came from a distant place, as if shaking the whole city, accompanied by the creaking sound of something huge being torn apart and broken, everyone in the command heard these loud booms.
Some people followed the sound and looked in the direction of the city-state, and saw that the monstrous and twisted buildings that had almost completely covered the city before were cracking apart one by one, and even more enormous tongues of fire were erupting from those cracks, and in the middle of those grand spiritual flames, uncountable amounts of black matter were being gradually burned up.
Near the harbor defenses, an exhausted city guard hid behind a rickety bunker and watched as the twisted buildings cracked in the distance, hundreds of monstrous, writhing creatures fleeing from the cracks, only to be chased down by the flames that burned them to black ash.
At the foot of the hill in the center of the city-state, the Guardian forces were fighting to the death against the invading ersatz freaks, but then a phantom army suddenly burst out of the mismatched light, dressed in the uniforms of the Queen’s Guards from half a century ago, and rushed out into the streets, chanting the name of the Queen of the Frost and fighting to the death against the monstrous creatures that had swarmed into reality.
The last line of defense in front of the Silent Cathedral, the High Priestesses were organizing the clerics to fight against the monsters that flooded into the square, the tongues of fire spewing out from the steam walkers and the pale flames released by the Silent monks were intertwined into a net, struggling to resist the invasion of those monsters as well as the sludge.
“Hold them back!” The high-ranking assistant priest shouted hoarsely, and at the edge of his vision, pale and delicate ashes were spilling down from above the Silent Great Sanctuary like drifts of first snow, “Block the church doors! Block the ……”
A loud boom and a tremor that seemed to shake the mountains came out of nowhere, and the high ranking assistant priest nearly fell to the ground at the heavenly commotion, as a thorn, wrapped in malice and made from a convergence of mud, stabbed at him through a gap in the defenses.
However, just at the moment when the high-ranked assistant priest was about to be penetrated by this thorn, a ghostly green flame suddenly surfaced in the air, turning that vicious attack into ashes.
The high-ranking assistant priest raised his head in dismay and saw a figure floating right in front of him.
She wore a black dress as tattered as an ascetic’s robe and skirt, her torso was strewn with large and small cracks, and flames rushed and flowed from her body like eternally hot blood.
“Agatha …… Gatekeeper?”
High-ranked assistant priest looked at the figure that appeared in front of his eyes in dismay, but he felt that the figure was familiar and unfamiliar, he called out the other party’s name, but then he saw that one after another unfamiliar figure appeared beside the gatekeeper, and all of those figures were wrapped in a ghostly green spiritual body flames.
“I’m back,” Agatha turned her head, two points of fire leaping from her empty eyes, crackling and popping in her voice, “Take the rest of your people and retreat, or find a safe place to stand.”
“Stand firm?” The high-ranking assistant priest repeated in dismay, failing for a moment to comprehend the meaning of the other’s words, “And …… why have you become this ……”
Agatha, however, ignored him, and amidst the low rumble that was becoming more and more intense, she had turned in the other direction, looking out over the sea that lay beyond the city-state.
Smoke rose over the sea, clouds sagged blackly, the sea was black as a mirror, and an unnameable, massive presence …… was rising from it.
Two huge, almost reminiscent of the sun s green light rose little by little in that smoke and clouds, while the unimaginable outline of mankind gradually took shape in that smoke and clouds, as if the ocean and the atmosphere itself were rumbling and converging, a scene …… that even made Agatha, who had herself stopped breathing, feel suffocated once again.
That was suffocation at the soul level.
“O God of Death ……,” the high-ranking assistant priest could hardly endure this massive pressure, and the body that had managed to stand up staggered and fell back down again, “That’s… . what is that?!”
Agatha, however, only slightly sidestepped her head, helplessness in her tone, “I warned, find a safe place to stand still.”
The high-ranking assistant priest, however, could no longer hear what the Gatekeeper was saying to himself – he finally realized what it was as the silhouette in that cloud quickly coalesced.
It was a figure rising from the endless sea, a being that used the entire Frost Sea as a medium and projected itself into the real world.
The two green flames reminiscent of the sun that burned brilliantly in the clouds were in fact His eyes, the curling and raging clouds were Him breathing, and the piece of massive shadow …… that slowly lifted from the smoke was His arm.
Now that hand reached out in the direction of Frost.
“Lord!!!”
Someone exclaimed in the square.
Yet the hand that reached out, seemingly slowly, was faster than anyone’s shrieks and prayers – it had already crossed the sea, over the waters where the Sea Mist Fleet, the Frost Navy, and the Fake Fleet were engaged, over the shores of the city-states, and was probing into the depths of the Frost as if it were a plumbing into smoke. In the next second, that arm began to slowly rise, as if it were holding up a billion tons of weight, rising upward a little.
And along with that arm rising, was a mirror city that was gradually being stripped away from the reality of the frost–
All the twisted buildings, the curled and swollen earth, the thorns that covered the mountains, all those profane things that were plausible with the real world but overwrote reality with horror, were all torn off from the Frost City-State a little by a little by that hand.
The Mirror Frost floated up to the real world – and now it “floats” higher than its creators had planned, and continues to do so.
Agatha smiled, a smile more pleasant than ever.
The Mirror Frost was out of the city-state, and was still rising, as if the evil spirit had been expelled from a body infested with evil spirits, and the “evil spirit” had been slowly lifted up by a huge arm to the vicinity of the clouds.
In the depths of the clouds, two green balls of fire burning like the sun were swaying slightly, and the vaguely visible, majestic and awe-inspiring face seemed to be looking down.
There were many small sounds coming from the palms of the hands.
Some of those tiny voices were tangible sounds, yet more of them were like vibrations that echoed at the level of thought, howls that reverberated through piles of twisted wreckage, and stubborn, paranoid rhapsodies and delusions that were entrenched in the City of Mirrors.
Duncan looked through the clouds into the palm of his hand, and he saw that the Mirror City was a swollen, distorted mass of flesh, the streets created in poor imitation of the real world were rapidly degenerating into a primitive form of filthy mud, and between those swollen, distorted streets, mountains and city buildings, tiny thorns were still rising and shrinking, and there were sparks so small they were hard to distinguish leaping from the center of this mass of matter, and hundreds and hundreds of crazed believers were entangled in it. The obsessions that had been formed there clamored and made mosquito-like noises.
They were mixed with fear, anger, resentment, and downright malice.
Are those fanatics still trying to preach their doomsday theories? Or are they looking for a rational explanation for the disaster they have created?
Duncan listened for a moment, dropping his eyes.
“You guys know a hammer about large sacrifices.”
His eyes focused on the mass of mirrored city, so that the entire city burned in his gaze, in his hands.
Uncountable ash debris and green streams of fire fell from the sky like a torrential rain falling from the clouds.
The palm that was as huge as a city-state slowly clenched into a fist, and the Mirror Frost that burned to ashes in the center of its hand turned into dust with a fearful crushing friction sound, and countless remnants of the substance splashed down towards the Frost Sea, falling into the sea, towards the coast, and everywhere Tirian’s gaze reached.
But almost all of the falling matter avoided the Frost home islands, as well as the Sea Mist fleet and the Frost Navy that were still active on the surface.
Tirian looked around.
All the fake ships were rapidly disintegrating.
It was finally over.
He exhaled softly.
While First Mate Aiden stood next to him, the bald, burly man looked up at the sky, but could only see a small outline of the massive figure.
Aiden’s body still trembled slightly even now.
“Thoughts?” Tirian turned his head and looked at his first mate with a smirk.
Aiden fumbled to pull out a pipe from his pocket, but shivering half a day can not hit the fire, after a long time he put the pipe down, his voice slightly trembling, “The old captain …… should not mind that we have fought with him before, right?”
Tirion, however, just laughed and fished out a rolled cigarette from his pocket.
“Father wouldn’t care about such trivialities.”
However this great pirate of the Cold Sea shivered for half a day, but did not light the fire.
