Chapter 378 – The Gatekeeper’s Battle

Chapter 378 – Gatekeeper’s Battle
Everything happened in a split second.

The three Annihilationists disguised as Death Church priests launched a surprise attack, the black-clothed guards around them came to support them, and a dozen or so Sewage Treatment Center staff members exchanged blows with the gatekeepers, all of which happened almost simultaneously.

A shocking fact was revealed – this entire sewage treatment center had long since been completely eroded and replaced.

No wonder there was no reaction of contamination in the sewage settling tanks and pipelines, and those “primitives” that escaped through the sewers seemed to have evaporated – they had long since found their nests, right under the noses of the city-state authorities and the church.

But there are still countless mysteries. How is it that the Annihilists, who follow the Holy Lord of the Profound, can call on the name of the God of Death? How did the “fakes” disguised as employees of the processing center manage to elude their senses? Where had the real employees gone?
But reality didn’t give Agatha much time to think about all this.

The corrosive and impactful darkness spit of the Profound Hound came whistling, and the dirty energy mass almost grazed Agatha’s hair and flew to the back, and in the blink of an eye, it pierced through a pillar next to the precipitation pool, and the spiritual erosion released by the soot jellyfish kept attacking her mind, slowing down her movements and thinking, while the pale woman who was in symbiosis with the cat-shaped demon raised her finger, and countless vertical and horizontal lines of energy instantly appeared beside Agatha, and she was able to see the darkness in her mind. Countless crisscrossing blood trails appeared – a piece of her clothing brushed against those blood trails, and the clothing at the intersection was instantly disintegrated into dust.

This was a premeditated trap, no wonder these heretics had gathered here honestly to be “inspected” – they were actually planning to kill the Church’s gatekeeper?

“Whimsical.”

Agatha said lightly, her cane then tapping the ground.

The end of the staff and the ground gently knocked issued a loud sound like thunder, followed by layers and layers of illusory ripples from the end of the cane to the surrounding, only a moment, everything around them will be quiet, the precipitation pool around the entire space into the darkness, everything as far as the eye dyed gray and black, those who are fighting the black-robed guards and the “fakes The black-robed guards and “fakes” that were fighting each other stood still in the air, and only a pale glow poured into the room from the distant doors and windows, as well as the cracks that had appeared on the roof at some point in time, making everything as far as the eye could see take on a shadowy appearance.

In the spirit world, Agatha held her eyeballs in her left hand and “looked” toward the three Annihilationists who had also fallen into stasis not far away.

Beside them, the symbiotic demon had a black flame undulating on its body, and in the world of black, white, and gray, the flame burned quietly, and the smoke rose slowly like a slow-motion picture.

Agatha raised her cane and flicked it through the air.

The pale, dark space shook, and the projections of the black-clad guards in the middle of the battle instantly disappeared into the spirit world. She raised her left hand, and only the three Annihilationists and a dozen or so distorted fakes formed by the Elements remained in the range of her eyeballs.

“Feast.” Agatha said softly.

The beings in the Spirit World stirred, and the shadows lurking in the cracks of the world received the invitation and permission of the Gatekeeper, and in just a moment, countless shadows, either thick or light, surfaced on the ground around the settling pool, on the nearby walls, on the pipes, and even on the roofs of the high-ceilinged buildings. –Those shadows were like cheering tides of people, or like a herd of beasts, which converged and swarmed along the surfaces of all the objects, rushing towards the enemies in Agatha’s field of vision!

The scene of surging shadows littering the surfaces of everything as far as the eye could see was a numbing sight, yet Agatha merely gazed at it all in silence, her right eye calmly open, with not the slightest fluctuation of emotion in it, while her left eye was tightly closed, and in the palm of her left hand, the eyeball was constantly rotating, staring dead on at any movement of the wind in the surroundings.

The surging shadows first surrounded the “fakes”, and in the blink of an eye, they spread onto them like a tidal wave, instantly devouring and dissolving them without a sound.

In the next second, the shadows rushed towards the three Annihilationists and their symbiotic demons.

Those spectral demons sensed the danger.

A strange clicking sound came from the body of those demons and the chains on their bodies, the flames on all the demons trembled violently, and even the edges of the annihilationists’ bodies showed a strange tremor, vaporization, and in the realm of the stillness of all things, they actually struggled to “come to life”!

The young man who was symbiotic with the soot jellyfish was the first one to regain his mobility, he violently broke free from the boundaries of the spirit world, and the next moment he instinctively raised his head to look in Agatha’s direction.

And almost at the same time, the old man who was symbiotic with the Profound Hound and had a withered body also regained his mobility, he saw his companion’s action and immediately warned in a loud voice:
“Don’t lock eyes with the Gatekeeper!”

However, his warning was one step too late – the young cultist had already turned his eyes completely to the “triangle” where Agatha stood.

Agatha raised her left hand and held up her eyeball, presenting it to the young cultist as if she were offering it.

The heretic stared at the eyeball in Agatha’s hand as if his whole being had been attracted to it – he was lost in thought, even mesmerized, and a quiet, serene smile gradually appeared on his face.

It was as if, in this instant, he had realized the true meaning of life and death, and had found the whole meaning and answer of his life in this truth.

“Ah, how beautiful ……”

He said softly, then smiled as he slowly fell backwards, into the middle of the shadows that came like a tidal wave. He and his ethereal demon were torn to shreds by the endless shadows in an instant.

But just as the heretic fell, a strange scream came again from a short distance away, and a harsh wind pressure loomed from the right, so Agatha had to dodge slightly sideways, accompanied by an unseen blade flying against her forehead, and she twisted her head to look in the direction from which the attack had come.

The pale woman who had shared her life with the catlike demon was hissing in this direction, her mouth gaping open like a twisted and torn alien, the blasphemous spell compressed into a brief whine as the next blade was rapidly taking shape.

On the other side, the spectral hound was ready for its next spitting attack.

As if completely ignoring the Spectral Hound and the withered old man behind her, Agatha simply raised her cane and pointed it at the pale woman in front of her, who had already begun to mutate like a demon, while her left hand was raised high, once again holding up her own eyeball.

The pale woman subconsciously avoided the gaze of the eyeball in Agatha’s hand – yet what greeted her in the next second was a dull gunshot.

The front of Agatha’s cane spewed out dazzling fire, and a large-caliber silver bullet shattered the pale woman’s head, which had been completely twisted and torn apart.

In the next second, along with the heretic’s headless body falling and being swallowed by the shadows, a cloud of ethereal spit containing intense corrosive properties also struck Agatha’s back with a loud bang.

Black flames rose and smoke filled the air as the shocking spit unleashed by the Profound Hound exploded behind the Gatekeeper and then quickly dissipated.

Not a single scratch remained on Agatha’s black coat.

She slowly turned her head to look at the last remaining cultist, the old man with a withered figure.

The latter’s eyes were wide with dismay and horror.

“I thought that if you dared to set a trap, it must have been a well-thought-out move after investigating the information,” Agatha gazed calmly at the last enemy, “but by the look on your face, it seems that this is not the case – could it be that you three are just castaways who were thrown out?”

The look of terror in the eyes of the last cultist increased, and there was more than a hint of helplessness in the terror.

Agatha noticed the change in the other’s eyes.

“Are you looking for this?” The young gatekeeper said calmly.

In the next second, she opened her mouth violently-

A cloud of filthy, Profound Spit containing intense corrosiveness instantly took shape in front of her, and with the exact same momentum and trajectory as when it had struck itself just now, it rushed in the same path towards the Profound Hound beside the withered old man!
The Profound Demon instinctively realized the danger, and almost instantly reacted and dodged to the side, however, the Profound Breath that was returned in its original form was like a cannonball with eyes that violently changed its trajectory – it accurately and incomparably burrowed into the Profound Hound’s skull, and after a short delay, the skeleton piled up and formed into the Demon exploded into A ground of fragments.

The withered cultist who was symbiotic with the demon instantly let out a miserable scream, and even though he hadn’t received any attacks on his body, he immediately curled up on the ground in agony, unable to even crawl up.

Shadows like a tidal wave swarmed around him in the blink of an eye, ready to continue the feast.

“Leave this to me,” Agatha’s voice sounded at that moment, however, and at the same time, the sound of the cane’s crash as it stumbled heavily on the ground echoed around them, “Leave.”

The shadows in all directions violently stirred, monstrous malice and chilling noises of all kinds rolled over like giant waves, invisibly impacting the entire space, and some of the shadows even vaguely leaned over in Agatha’s direction.

Agatha’s face expression, however, was unchanged, only lifting up her cane and poncing it hard on the floor.

Another thunderous bang echoed throughout the entire space.

“Roll.”

After a moment of stagnation and silence, all the shadows receded like a tidal wave.
