Chapter 24: Dove?
Chapter 24 Pigeon?
The snow-white dove stood frozen on the table, the brass compass Duncan had searched for half a dozen times hanging around its neck, while the familiar obsidian knife rested at its feet.
Duncan looked at the dove with a slightly dazed expression, and the dove looked at him with a dazed expression.
It wasn’t easy to read the expression on a bird’s face, but for some reason Duncan felt that he could understand the pigeon’s expression, and not only the expression, but he could even see some kind of “wisdom” in the pigeon’s slightly reddened eyes – the two green eyes. -The bird’s two green eyes were staring straight ahead, and when Duncan cast his eyes over, one of them apparently turned its attention, but the other seemed to be still looking at the ceiling of the captain’s cabin, darting its vision around.
“A …… pigeon?”
It took several seconds of reaction before Duncan finally muttered subconsciously with a quivering corner of his mouth.
Why a pigeon? Why did a pigeon appear out of nowhere? Why was his brass compass still hanging on this pigeon? And how did that small knife come over?
Or a thousand words summarized into one sentence: this abnormal ship, in the end can still happen a little normal things?
In Duncan’s side of the head full of question marks in the heart of muttering, that stayed for half a day of the pigeon also seems to finally “wake up” over, it nodded its head on the table walked two steps, came to Duncan in front of him, and vigorously stretched out his neck, issued a loud “cooing” sound.
“……” Duncan looked at the bird speechlessly, his mind somehow suddenly surfaced in the memory of the classic image of many pirate captains, and then looked down at his own body of the captain’s uniform, “the captain side with a bird It seems to be a standard match, but normally it shouldn’t be a parrot. …… What’s with the pigeon?”
The pigeon heard Duncan’s words and immediately nodded fervently, emitting a female voice with a somewhat oddly stilted tone, “Transmission complete!”
Duncan’s side from the heart to the mouth of all the muttering suddenly pinched off, a mouthful of water he almost choked into the lung leaves, staring at the white pigeon in front of him, his expression a face of dismay.
He recalled how he felt when he first stepped on this ship and met a talking goat head in the captain’s cabin.
But at least this wasn’t his first day on the Lost Country ship, and he had already seen the abnormalities of this world before, so the fact that this dove spoke only surprised him for a split second, and in the next second, his expression turned serious, while a green spiritual fire had already slightly emerged in one hand, and he watched the dove in front of him in a guarded manner, “Where are you from? ”
The pigeon cocked its head, one eye looking straight at Duncan while the other drifted to the ceiling, “Wrong address, please recheck the address or contact the system administrator.”
Duncan: “……?”
More than the momentary stupefaction on his expression, it was a much bigger wave that rippled through his mind at the moment!
What this pigeon said …… was not like the “style” of this world, it was not like a word that could come out of a goat’s head or Alice or any of those black-robed cultists, instead it was a term that he, as “Zhou Ming! “This earthling is more familiar with the term!
However, the pigeon didn’t seem to notice the change in Duncan’s eyes and expression at all, it just pecked its wings and shook the brass compass hanging on its chest, and then began to leisurely stroll on the table.
After pacing for a few steps, it ran up to the obsidian knife again, flicking it in Duncan’s direction a few times with its claws, and letting out the same strangely pitched female voice that had come from its mouth before, “Take this solar-powered tomahawk and embrace the glory of battle!”
Duncan snapped out of his desk, the seat bumping against the floor with a harsh scrape, and he stared dead at the still innocently bemused dove in front of him while an extremely grotesque yet comical emotion filled his mind.
There was no way that this pigeon could have been something that was originally on the Lost Country, and there was almost no way that it could have been something that was originally in this world!
The words and phrases it uttered, only “Zhou Ming” could understand what they meant!
Perhaps because the sound of the tables and chairs bumping was so loud that even the chart room could hear the commotion, Duncan suddenly heard Goat Head’s voice in his head: “Captain? Are you all right?”
Duncan was still staring at the pigeon on the table, and he knew that Goathead didn’t dare to peek directly into the captain’s chambers, so he lowered his voice and replied with his usual calmness, “I’m fine.”
“Miss Alice is here to see you, shall …… she?”
“You receive first.”
“Yes, Captain.”
Duncan exhaled and glanced back at the door to the room leading in the direction of the chart room.
Goathead’s raucous bombardment of Alice continued, Miss Doll had tried to get up and leave several times before being stopped again, and Duncan felt like he should go out and save the unlucky doll, but right now …… he had something more important to confirm.
Let’s work Alice a little harder. Duncan sat back down at his desk, ready to try and see if he could communicate with the pigeon in front of him in normal speech, and it was then that he suddenly caught a glimpse of a scene he hadn’t noticed a moment ago –
The cluster of spiritual fire jumping between the fingers of his right hand vaguely extended a “line of fire”, this stream of flame is as thin as a hair, its end floated out a dozen centimeters and then dissipated in the air.
And in the body of that strange pigeon, there was also a strand of green flame, which was hidden in the gap of the feathers under its wings, and the other end of the flame also extended into the air and disappeared in mid-air.
Duncan frowned and raised his right hand with a thought, and as the fire jumped, the dove on the table instantly disappeared.
In the next second, the pigeon appeared on his shoulder, it lowered its head and pecked Duncan’s hair, making a loud sound, “Coo-coo!”
Duncan snapped his fingers again and the dove on his shoulder reappeared on the desk.
A brass compass hung from the dove’s chest, its shiny casing reflecting the green light of the flames.
Duncan’s brow furrowed, “…… Something to do with this brass compass?”
He has been able to determine, this pigeon and his own existence of a certain connection, this connection is even tighter than the connection between him and the Lost Country, which may also explain why the pigeon will “know” some of his own only know, from the Earth’s “knowledge,” he He just wasn’t sure why the pigeon had appeared.
After thinking about it, he could only place his suspicion on the strange brass compass.
From the time he tested the fire of the spiritual body to now, all the abnormalities started from this brass compass, no matter it was the experience of the soul shuttling before, or the experience of the spirit projecting onto a corpse, and then just now the compass disappeared, and when it reappeared, it was hanging on the chest of the pigeon……. The source of everything seems to be this thing.
Duncan stared at the pigeon for a moment and brought his hand up to the compass.
He wanted to take the thing down and study it properly.
The dove did not duck or block it, yet Duncan’s fingers failed to touch the surface of the brass compass – his fingers went straight through and touched the soft downy fur of the dove’s chest.
It was like passing through a layer of illusion.
The pigeon jumped in place twice, seemingly a little tickled by Duncan, and opened its mouth to stagger, “It’s KFC Crazy Thursday, V me 50 ……”
Duncan jumped twice out of the corner of his eye and tested it two more times in disbelief, finally confirming that there was no way he could remove that brass compass from the pigeon – the thing had obviously undergone some sort of alienation, turning into an illusion bound to the pigeon that couldn’t be taken off or touched.
Or …… that pigeon is the body of the brass compass nowadays?
Duncan’s heart in a flash came up with a lot of speculation even he did not know whether to believe, but the only thing he can be sure of is one thing: the appearance of this dove, and his use of the brass compass for the “soul shuttle” experience is inseparable, and this experience may also be the same time to change the form of the brass compass.
This may be the nature of the brass compass itself, is it as some kind of “anomaly” inherent properties, or “the price of use”, as for why the pigeon is so wrong …… is not! As for why the pigeons were so out of sorts, it wasn’t because of the compass, it was because of “Zhou Ming”, the earthling.
All of this can not be confirmed or disproved now, unless Duncan can find the manuals of the various anomalies on the Lost Country.
As for now, he must think about how to place this …… abnormal pigeon.
After a brief moment of thought, he decided to name the pigeon first.
“I have to give you a name,” he tapped the desktop with his fingers and said very seriously to the pigeon in front of him, “I think you should be able to understand me right?”
The pigeon cocked its head and looked at Duncan with two green-bean sized eyes fluttering, “Aye?”
(Mom yeah!)
