Chapter 214 – The Ark of Promise

Chapter 214 – The Ark of Promise

“Change back.”

The moment she heard those words, Vanna heard a loud noise at the same time, a continuous roar that was hard to describe in words as well as a tearing shrill mixed with the burning flames, a sound that was not coming from a specific direction, but rather as if the entire city-state, or even the entire world, was emitting this horrendous sound.

In the midst of this headache-inducing roar, she looked to the figure standing behind the Final Preacher – it was the Captain Duncan she had seen in her dreams, but unlike the last time she had seen him, it was a figure that stood there, completely shrouded in flames, with the appearance of a void in his body. But unlike what she had seen last time, there stood a “ghost” that was completely covered in flames and took on the form of an illusory spirit.

It only took a moment for Vanna to realize that this was not her body, but another projection – only that this projection was now using her as a “medium” to come to the tower, and she could feel the flow of power, feel something burning in her soul, and feel that her mind was burning. She could feel the flow of power, something burning in her soul, and a voice in her head that did not belong to her.

She subconsciously raised her hands, and when she saw green flames quietly attaching themselves to her body, and saw the burning fire path spreading under her feet, she realized that the ghost captain had already turned her into some kind of “node” capable of projecting power from a long time ago, and that the degree of erosion and contamination had long exceeded the imagination of both her and Bishop Valentine. The degree of erosion and contamination has long exceeded her and Bishop Valentine’s imagination, and all …… of this is for today.

In the next second, the whole world in her eyes changed drastically.

Ghostly green flames spread out – in every sea of fire in Prand, in every pile of ashes, in every rising smoke, that ghostly green flames have long been lurking for an unknown length of time, and at this moment instantly erupted out in full force, and even instantly engulfed the entire city-state!

It was so fast that there was no way to react, or rather, it had already been completed before this “reality invasion” began – Vanna recalled what she had seen on the other side of the curtain, and suddenly realized that the fire created by the Final Preachers and the Sun Heretics had already been unknowingly turned into a fire, and that the fire had been created by the Sun Heretics. Suddenly, she realized that the fire created by the Endbringers and the Sun Heretics had already become the carrier of the Ghost Flame without her realizing it. …… Their act of burning the entire city-state with the flames was the final step required by the Ghost Captain to complete the “tampering with the fire”!
A mournful cry suddenly rang out, waking Vanna up, she looked at the source of the sound, and saw that the withered preacher of the End of the World was also burning with a blaze of ghostly flames, he was twisting and howling like a torch at the edge of the platform, and the sight of the city’s flames being usurped in an instant was reflected in his melting eyeballs, which made this madman curse and bellow out curses:
“Foolish deeds, foolish deeds! Ruined! You have refused the gift of subspace, and you shall be forever condemned in this world of suffering …… O Foolishness!!!”

However, in contrast to this berserker’s drunken curses, there was another sight–

Prender, who had been completely incinerated by the spectral flames, was recovering at an unbelievable speed!

The buildings destroyed by the flames are recovering rapidly, the roads torn by the melting are healing like the first time, the rain of fire that fell from the sky has stopped, the clouds that looked like the end of the world are melting rapidly like turning back the clock, the edge of the city state even emerged a corner of the normal sky, and in the even more distant place ……

There came the sound of a bell that had stopped ringing for a long time.

True to Captain Duncan’s words, change back.

Vanna stared at this incomprehensible scene, she had never thought that the city-state that had been completely destroyed could really be restored, and soon she realized what the nature of this “restoration” was—…

The historical pollution brought about by the Final Preacher and the Sun Heretic was being stripped away, and the “pseudo-history” that had completely covered the city-state of Prand and replaced reality was being “rejected” by some powerful force!
She looked at the tall figure standing not far away in dismay, but the latter was only gazing calmly at the final preacher who was about to be burnt to a crisp, and only after a long time did he speak softly as if he were talking to himself: “Everything can be contaminated, except subspace ……”.

That final preacher surprisingly still not dead, despite having completely distorted into an inhuman appearance, that pile of coke actually still issued a hoarse shocked voice: “You …… you turned this city-state into a part of the Lost Country ship?!”

“The Lost Country is the Ark of Promise, and I think we could expand on the idea of an ‘Ark’,” Duncan smiled up and bent down slightly, “If a sailing ship that encounters the Lost Country at sea will be assimilated and absorbed, then …… why shouldn’t the Prand under my watchful eye be regarded as another Lost Country ship?”

A loud chime of a ship’s approaching harbor came from the distance, and Vanna subconsciously looked up into the distance, and in the next moment, she saw a sight that was shocking enough to shock her–

She saw a ship.

The Lost Country appeared, sailing from the direction of the Boundless Sea, burning with monstrous spiritual fire, its translucent sails of spiritual bodies bulging like a curtain covering the sky.

The ship crossed the coast, crossed the harbor that was recovering rapidly, and sailed directly into the city-state of Prand that was already covered in green flames as if it was sailing on water, moving forward majestically among the high walls, houses and towers that were constantly being repaired and reset, with illusory ripples rippling out on both sides of the ship, and with each ripple, the restoration of the city-state would be further advanced, and it looked as if the whole of Prand was being rebuilt in the The Lost Country’s tail wave was reborn!

“You …… you can save the city-state …… but you can’t stop the sun from coming down ……” the pile on the platform that had once was the twisted coke of the Final Preacher came a faint voice, as if it were the last murmur of a nightmare before it dissipated, “Even a few fragments summoned from history …… are enough to destroy again …… …… doomed ……”

The voice faded and faded until it disappeared, and the twisted pile of coke finally ran out of all life, turning into a tent of dust that drifted away in the wind under the burning flames of the spirit body. On the other hand, Vanna suddenly reacted after hearing the words of the final preacher, she suddenly looked up to the sky, and saw that the “black sun” with extremely bright edges and a black and red interior like the mouth of an abyss was still suspended high above the city-state, and the feeling of the sun’s inner bulge became even more obvious and stronger than before!
The flames of the Lost Country eliminated the historical contamination of Prand, but the blasphemous sun …… was not a part of Prand from the very beginning, it was a historical projection jointly summoned by the Final Preacher and the children of the sun, and it existed independently of all the history and pseudo-history!
“Something is awakening in the Black Sun!” At this moment, Vanna even forgot her own identity and that of “Captain Duncan”, and subconsciously warned out loud, “It’s going to …….”

Duncan just waved his hand at her gently.

Then, Vanna saw the ghost captain turned toward the direction of the blasphemous sun wheel, he raised his hand, as if to call, greet something, voice gently spoke–

“Come this way …… Yes, don’t worry, you won’t fall, just forward.

“Remember how to ride a bicycle? Just come forward like that …… and I’ll hold you up.”

In the next second, a bright arc of golden flame suddenly pierced Vanna’s vision, and she saw a huge gaping hole tear open at the edge of that black sun, and an arc of flame jumped as if in a joyous leap to Captain Duncan, and with the departure of this flame a mournful whine rang violently from the profane and horrible sun-wheel in the sky!

As if some kind of beast suddenly suffered a blow through the heart, the black and red core of the sun was quickly covered with countless eye-piercing red cracks, and the bright and eye-piercing wheel of light at its edge was instantly stained and burned out by the greenish flames, and immediately afterward, the greenish flames began to burn swiftly into the dark core of the sun.

The drumming sensation in the dark core completely disappeared, and the vague vitality that existed before was almost gone in the blink of an eye. It cracked open, and the hot and boiling substance flowed out from it, but before it fell into the city-state, it was incinerated cleanly by the ubiquitous green flames.

With a continuous whine, roar, and crackle, the monstrous and blasphemous sun finally disintegrated, leaving only a few scraps of debris to fall into the ripples at the edge of the Lost Country.

The massive Lost Country was now sailing to the center of the city-state, and it gradually floated upward in spirit form, approaching the cathedral’s bell tower amidst the illusory waters and ripples, the sails of the spirit sweeping across the sky, and the light of the masts and cables sweeping past Vanna.

She heard the bells ringing, the bells of the cathedral – and the bell tower beneath her feet broke free of the taint of history, the bell-ringing mechanism functioning automatically.

The figure of Archbishop Valentine also appeared in the air a little bit – this archbishop, who had defended the city-state until the last moment, had successfully returned to reality, proving that the branch of history that had led to destruction had disappeared completely.

Vanna’s gaze, however, did not rest on the Archbishop, she was still staring intently at Duncan who was not far away, and the latter had turned around at the moment – a leaping arc of flame surrounded him, and the warmth and brightness brought about by that flame even softened his gloomy and majestic face a little.

“I thought you were going to come up with a jumping splat,” Duncan said to Vanna with a smile, as if he were a friend chatting, “just like last time.”

“…… I’m not a mindless and reckless person.”

“Really, I thought you loved jumping chops – after all, every mature warrior can’t resist the urge to start a jumping chop towards the opposite side of the room,” Duncan teased casually, reaching out to calm the arcing flames at his side, which seemed to be slightly restless, and then turned to Vanna with a nodded, “I’m done, see you next time.”

Vanna was stunned and subconsciously stepped forward, “Wait! You can’t just ……”

Duncan, however, had already turned away, and with a wave of his hand, he stepped forward into the mid-air beyond the platform of the clock tower – the towering stern of the Lost Country moving slowly past the tall tower, and on the deck, by the rudder, was the captain, who was taking the helm himself.

With that, Duncan’s projection, wrapped in psychic flames, stepped right onto the ship, merging with his own being.

He stood at the helm, steering wheel in hand, and smiled as he nodded to Vanna.

The massive ghost ship then began to gradually accelerate, its illusory hull sailing over Prand, heading for the coast on the other side of the city-state in a gradual ripple out to the Infinite Sea.
