Chapter 228: The Ritual of the Elves
Chapter 227 – The Elf’s Ritual
The series of events that happened after Gawain’s arrival made Heine more and more determined in her suspicions.
Beyond the mountains of Makara, the transcendent energies were tainted with some sort of common will.
It was much like Linumu’s research on the Blight.
Compared to the transcendental energies in the mountains of Makara, they all seem to be tainted.
And so the powerful Level 5s born and living there are disturbed by this will.
The same was true of Gawain.
The holy light on him was completely indistinguishable from that on a gas tank.
The reason the two behave differently is a personal factor.
The personal will of those six Holy Churchmen had been worn down by the long battle on the Ash Front.
“I didn’t realize that you had such a hard time?”
In what was once Silverwing’s office, the decorations and the rather classy looking furniture from before had disappeared.
He had asked Bedwyr and Catching Goat, whose restoration was complete, to accompany him, but instructed the two to talk less about doctrine and more about life.
“What?” Vermillion Dew froze, then stood up excitedly.
Heine smiled and didn’t care.
But as he had lived here for a long time, that feeling had faded a lot.
To take an inappropriate example.
But he couldn’t do that until the means were ripe.
The injuries on the goat catcher are evidence of that.
Stacks and stacks of documents lay inside, and those who didn’t know thought this was a print room.
The main theme is one of hard work and simplicity.
“Say, your sister’s name is Darlene, right?” He asked.
The wood elf tree herder had given Heine a strong sense of ‘awkwardness’ when she first arrived in the mountains of Makara.
It was natural that such an unstable and troublesome fellow could not be brought into the mountains immediately.
“You can just stand and talk, anyway, they usually just stand and leave when they find me.”
On the way here Jiang Lu had already finished all the words of thanks, now hearing him joke he just rolled his eyes and sat back down at the table.
“Where is she? Did you find her in the Blighted Trail?”
They became war machines dominated by the will of the Holy Light.
Gawain, on the other hand, was clear-headed and strong-willed, which is why he was able to stay true to himself while disobeying the Holy Light.
Although the Holy Light within Gawain obeyed his own orders in normal times, in the face of great right and wrong – such as when Heine jumped out and said:
“Your God of Holy Light is a hot chick!”
— perhaps this kind of disobedience is at the heart of keeping one’s ego in check.
Unable to deal with the Governor’s eunuchs, all Heine can think of is to slowly replace this group of die-hard soldiers.
Surprisingly, there was only one chair left in the room.
“Don’t be in a hurry, sit down and listen.”
He himself accompanied Jiang Lu back to the Cui Ye Court.
Then, no matter what Gao Wen thought, his military power would be taken away by the eunuch in an instant, and then he would command the army to fight Heine to the death.
Then his soul-bound Holy Light Will was a supervisory eunuch who completely carried out the Emperor’s will, and was the Emperor’s eyes and ears.
Heine looked around and snickered.
Heine then told the complete story of “The Adventures of Darlene”.
There was something he wanted to talk to the other side about.
Of course, he may not be able to maintain himself once faced with strong stimuli.
Heine: “She may still be alive.”
Instead of the old couch, and on the table and in one of the vine-woven baskets in the corner.
This had been practiced on Linumu.
That was why Heine had temporarily placed Gawain in a stronghold west of the Blight Trail.
Although this place could shield the sight of the gods, the Holy Light Will bound to Gawain’s soul could not be excluded.
The will of holy light was the emperor, and Gawain was the general.
Jianglu looked up in surprise, “Yes, what’s wrong?”
So it can only be done slowly like a blood change.
…
Maybe the only way to eradicate it is to cut the thing right out of your soul like old Barry did.
From the moment her soul was captured by the fog of the Blight, to the moment when Jangroo’s act of killing her sister fulfilled the need for a “ritual”, and so Daelin’s consciousness detached itself from her soul and attached itself to the Blight dagger.
Then he mentioned the Gray Moon.
It was she who captured Daelin’s consciousness with her untutored necromancer talent, and then subconsciously performed the “flesh and blood remodeling ritual”, which allowed Daelin to be “reborn” on that dagger.
Jianglu’s brows were sometimes relaxed and sometimes tightly frowned, and finally looked at Heine in doubt.
“So she …… was reborn?”
“Yes, you could say that. Based on that drop of blood from Ashitsuki, she really was reborn, and although her figure is illusory, she is not a soul body in the normal sense, as the latter is usually not observable by the naked eye, but she can appear in front of everyone.”
“So she can’t get away from that dagger?”
“As far as can be seen that is the case.”
“Why?”
“How can I possibly know that?” Heine spread her hands, “Don’t you see, the variable in this case is the ‘ritual’ you inadvertently triggered, I’m curious to know what all happened when you stabbed her to death, is this an elven tradition?”
Daelin’s resurrection from the dead made that past no longer full of hurt, so Jianglu seriously recalled it. She quickly shook her head.
“There’s nothing out of the ordinary …… Are you sure it’s that link that’s wrong?”
“For sure.” Heine nodded, “As far as the information I have is concerned, magical weapons must need souls to dominate, the magical weapon producers in Veritas can already batch process the souls of mages, and elves are the second object of my research.
“You are suspected to have mastered a ‘sacrifice’ method that sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t, which allows you to plunder the consciousness of transcendentalists and imprint it on your equipment. For example, the Winds of Sigh, an entire family of them may have been bound to their equipment.
“That’s why I need you to help me gather some intelligence on this, the whereabouts of those great legendary equipment, and the stories behind them.”
Jianglu nodded with a serious face.
But she suddenly froze.
–Is this guy’s purpose …… really just for research?
She looked up, only to see that Heine’s eyes were sincere and didn’t seem to be faking.
“What’s the problem?” Heine asked.
“Nothing.”
–Did I really overthink it?
Jianglu couldn’t help but mutter.
“By the way, is there still no news from Ashitsuki?” Heine asked.
Coincidentally, this “big sister” had brought her wooden teardrops to the Mourning Wood Valley to receive a commendation, and then something happened to the Magic Net.
So she was completely lost.
Heine always hoped that the elf’s own way of sending messages would work, so she often came to ask about it.
Vermillion Dew shook her head.
“The three great forests are now filled with strange beasts and chasms, and it is difficult for messengers to move an inch. Cuirassetia is close to the mountains of Makara, and this situation is already considered good, but it can’t be done to restore communication.”
She had noticed that as well.
The farther away from the mountain area, the denser the distribution of rifts and strange beasts became.
These monsters could be much harder to deal with than the Blight Beasts.
Especially the places that relied on the magic webs had become the lairs of the strange beasts.
Not only the ground, but the sky was even more of a disaster area.
This made the elves’ traditional communication method that relied heavily on flying magical beasts unusable as well.
It was as if the three forests had returned overnight to the ancient times when mountains were high and roads were far and they only met once every few years.
“Well, we’ll just have to wish her luck then.”
Heine sighed.
He chatted a couple more times about his family and was about to leave when he was suddenly called to a halt.
“Where is that …… skeleton of yours?”
“Who?”
“You call him Xia.”
“He’s in the Zanero Plateau.”
Jianglu’s face showed disappointment.
Heine laughed, “The next time he comes back, I’ll have him bring that dagger to you.”
Jianglu’s expression suddenly became constricted.
“Can…can we not have him come and just bring the dagger?”
Heine: “That won’t do, no matter how much he has a part in this, you have to thank him.”
“…… Okay.”
……
……
At the same time, the southwest corner of the Mourning Wood Forest was near Thinning Bay.
A group of elves were being surrounded by an overwhelming number of strange beasts.
The configuration of this group of elves was rather strange.
Other than the female night elf at the head who looked like a regular soldier, the others were all half-grown children.
But it was such a group of children that actually fought the strange beasts with great difficulty.
Bang!
A ball of white bone fire flew from nowhere and crashed straight into a strange beast.
It was instantly burned down to nothing but ashes by this flame.
More strange beasts crossed over this mass of ashes and went forward, even staining it.
But in the next second, these ashes exploded one after another!
Mori white flames bloomed one by one, and more and more strange beasts were ignited, burned out, and then spread.
In the twinkling of an eye, half of the group of strange beasts were dead or injured, and they scrambled to escape.
“Saved, big sister!”
An elf maiden said excitedly.
“Take it easy, Lani.”
Graymoon pulled the young girl back and held her back.
She stared unblinkingly at the mist in front of her.
A withered middle-aged elf in black vestments slowly stepped out from it.
Behind him was a row of undead whose soul flames swayed.
