Chapter 220: Ventilation
Chapter 220 – Ventilation
Inside the tent, the old man with white hair knelt on the ground and closed his eyes tightly.
On the table directly in front of him was a football-sized bronze mirror.
In the mirror was a deep and twisted pitch-black vortex, in which green streams of light could be vaguely seen swimming.
The old man’s head was bubbling with wisps of white gas as if it had been cooked, coalescing into threads that drilled into the mirror in front of him.
At the same time, he was still doing a “report” with a pained expression.
“That lord called George completely recognized our plan, he saw through that we were misinterpreting the oracle.
“Not only that, this invasion of the Makara Mountains has also failed completely, and they have also sent their men to ally with the Zanros.
“Forgive my stupidity, but I do not understand why the priest named Lloyd Gitler intervened in this matter.
“I have heard that he has now met an untimely end, and I believe that his soul has returned to your God’s Kingdom, so please also instruct me on what to do next.”
Finishing all these words in his head, he finally couldn’t hold on any longer and fell limp to the ground.
This wasn’t supposed to be his job, and he was only level four.
But now that Hathar was dead, it could only be done by him.
With the connection severed, the mirror returned to normal, as if nothing had happened.
After a brief rest, he rose shakily to his feet and poured himself a glass of water.
“Strange, why is there no response ……”
He looked at the mirror that had no feedback with a bewildered expression.
In the past, when Hathar spoke to the mirror, there was a response within a few minutes at most.
Worried that his voice was too weak to be conveyed to the “One”, he deliberately repeated it three times, and his brain was almost cooked.
But it looks like the effect is not ideal ……
Suddenly, a toothsome cutting sound rang out.
The old man turned around fiercely and released his senses as if he were an enemy.
A crystalline white bone body appeared in his perception.
“Undead???”
He was confused for a split second, and coupled with the mental energy depletion from earlier, before he could react, the other party had already cut through the tent and lightly burrowed in.
“You-“
“Shut up, I’m one of us.”
“I’ll help you.”
Two lines of text gathered from shadow energy appeared silently.
The old man’s pupils shrank.
One of our own?
“What own people? I don’t understand what you’re talking about?”
That said, he had let his guard down slightly.
The other party had approached the tent unnoticed, and it was easy as pie to take one’s life with this strength.
But it didn’t do so.
Waiting for a moment, the other party replied:
“For Lord Thanatos, King of the Underworld.”
-Damn, this guy’s name is hard to spell.
Mr. Natsu spat in his mind.
He was seriously thinking about whether Chief Sa’s title at this point in time was God or King.
Seeing this, the old man breathed a heartfelt sigh of relief.
It really was one of his own.
Coupled with the other party’s skeleton identity, nothing could be more fidelity.
He had sat down on the floor, though he still held his wand.
“Is Lloyd not dead?” He asked.
“A level six necromancer doesn’t die easily.”
“You said you came to help me, help me with what?”
–Of course it’s to help you use this broken mirror! Look at your usage is not right, half a day message can not be sent over, I am damn anxious to die!
Mr. Xia spat madly in his heart, but he still had to recall the name of this mirror.
However, he soon realized that he wouldn’t be able to spell it in the common language even if he remembered it.
Forget about it.
“Help you use this thing the wrong way.”
He pointed to the mirror.
“I’ve been following those guys here since daylight, and your stupidity makes me want to laugh.”
The old man was confused by the scolding and his face was a little embarrassed.
“My way no…no problem, that’s how Hathar works!”
“You turn it over and look at the back.”
The old man half-heartedly did as he was told.
The back of the bronze mirror was a layer of relief, with the body of a two-headed snake bisecting the mirror, and two bloody mouths to the left and right of the bottom.
When he saw it, he couldn’t help but freeze.
He remembered that once, when Hathar prayed to the oracle of the King of the Underworld, he saw these two snakes spitting from the side ……
“But, but why are there swirls on the mirror that are still devouring my spiritual energy?” He asked blankly.
–You gave it away it must have eaten it.
Mr. Xia was speechless.
The necromancer in the game was recruited by the Shadow Sanctuary and hadn’t touched these props.
It was logical that he shouldn’t understand either.
But having never eaten pork always saw a pig run.
He had seen the boss use a giant mirror to communicate with Sa General in one of the copies.
That mirror was a high-grade version that not only could chat, but also summoned Sah Chief’s servants and skills, terrifyingly so.
So the player needed to soldier on.
The large force is on the front to attract the boss’s attention.
The small force will drill a secret passage to reach the back of the mirror and break the crystal that feeds the energy there.
Although the one in front of us is a low-profile version, the principle should be similar. “It needs to supply energy.”
“I see… ……”
The old man suddenly realized, and hurriedly took out two “five batteries”.
As the energizing stone approached the two snakes, the latter opened their mouths and grabbed the stone as if it was alive.
The Charging Stones disappeared almost instantly, and nothing seemed to happen behind the bronze mirror.
It was just that the two snakes looked a bit oozy.
The old man thanked Mr. Xia.
At this point, he had already dispelled all his worries.
An undead that knew so much about communicating with the underworld, it was definitely more like “one of us” than it seemed.
He was about to continue his report when Mr. Xia suddenly said:
“Don’t mention my master.”
The old man froze, “Lloyd?”
“Yes.”
The old man smiled an “I see” smile.
He got it all.
Lloyd must have screwed something up and sent this skeleton to save face.
He sneered in his mind.
The other party had taken Hathar’s life, and he didn’t have any good feelings towards it.
He had already learned how to activate the mirror, and when the other party left, he would report back once more.
With that thought, he resumed his debriefing.
This time, he only mentioned the matter of “Lord George’s plan”.
With the last of his mental energy drained, he collapsed on the floor, enduring the dizziness in his head, and forced a smile at Mr. Xia.
He saw the skeleton give himself a thumbs up.
It was kinda friendly.
He closed his eyes slightly, intending to rest a little.
The pain in his brain seemed to be all far away.
Only a minute passed this time before a response came from the mirror.
The swirl above it squirmed for a moment, and then a black mist floated out of it, tracing a line in the air:
“I have known.”
–Kam, what kind of “read” is this?
Mr. Xia spat in his heart, but his expectations were dashed.
He had seen NPCs communicating with mirrors in some of the flashback anime, and often, creatures from the underworld would appear there to deliver the god’s message on his behalf.
He had prepared a toilet plunger, wanting to “pick up” the other side.
Perhaps the old man’s level was too low, so the response was just a message.
He looked at the other party, but found that this guy has actually died ……
He died of a serious overdraft of spiritual power.
–Fuck me, my experience!
……
……
At the same time, far away Veritas.
Professor Collins left the conference room in a hurry on his feet and returned to his quarters.
He closed the door and set up three barriers to isolate his breath, then rummaged through a cabinet and pulled out a flat mirror.
With a tap of his wand, this mirror wriggled into the shape of the bronze mirror that Mr. Xia had just seen.
But it was far more delicate than that broken mirror.
Just after sending the two energizing stones into the snake’s mouth, the surface of that mirror rippled out in a circle as if a small stone had been cast on the surface of a lake.
A black mist quietly gushed out, and a line of instructions emerged:
“Investigate the Makara Mountains.”
The McCalla Mountains?
Collins frowned slightly.
Hadn’t this place been proven to be nothing out of the ordinary?
Then everything returned to normal and he hid the mirror, grabbed a book and left the room.
Just as he stepped out of the room, he was greeted by a student wearing glasses.
The student ran out of breath, “Professor, why did you leave so suddenly?”
Collins held up the book in his hand.
“Came back to get something. What’s the matter, I leave this shitty meeting for a few minutes and you guys are arguing?”
“That’s not true, it’s just that I’ve just been informed that the Shadow Temple and Silver Elf’s request for arbitration has been withdrawn and they’ve decided to negotiate the matter privately.”
Collins froze, “That Servant from Godello City agreed?”
“Presumably,” the student propped up his frames, “I’ve come to inform you that given that you know Miss Renee, the Third Queen, and are from the Northlands, you’ve been chosen to be their mediator, and this time, there’s someone from the Eternal Dawn involved.”
Collins raised an eyebrow slightly.
“Who did the People of Gold send?”
“A gentleman by the name of Donald, who is also said to know both the Servant and that Queen’s Highness.”
“Who is that? Why haven’t I heard of it?”
The student hurriedly approached Collins and whispered:
“He’s just an ordinary person who had previously been in charge of Eternal Dawn’s infiltration work in the mountains of McCalla.
“He also has an identity as the nephew of Archmage Scrooge Dark.”
Collins’ heart shook.
Scrooge Dark was a member of the Council of Six.
One of the Supreme Six of Veritas ……
Of course, his more recognizable title than that was:
“The richest man in Veritas.”
Collins put away his surprised expression and nodded calmly.
“I see, take me there.”
