Chapter 828: Clueless
Chapter 828 – Clueless
With the cleanup of the contamination complete, Sol began the next step.
“The biggest problem with sick mermaids is that they can’t survive in the Black Tide seawater like other mermaids, such mermaids are of no use to the Court of Judgment.” Alfonso pointed to the coral, “If the mermaids can’t absorb the pollution in the Red Sea Tree efficiently and inexpensively, the Judgment Court will switch to a more extreme way of dealing with the pollution.”
After a pause, Alfonso added, “The Red Sea Tree protects the continent of Nephrite, not the inhabitants on it.”
Sol understood that if the entire continent was destroyed by the Eye of the Abyss, even if most of the wizards could flee to other continents, it would mean that at least a third of the resources of the entire wizarding world would disappear.
And if the remaining continent did not have an effective way to resist, then it could only wait for death a little bit.
And the fourth-order sorcerers, as the last survivors of this world, would die with the only remaining remnants of this world.
The wizard world that was closed off, there was no way to escape even if you wanted to.
Therefore, if the transformed mermaids couldn’t become the trash can of the Red Sea Tree, then the Judgment Court would have to replace it with another trash can.
No matter what it replaced it with, it would bring a catastrophe to the entire continent of Nefertiti.
Sol removed the rotting flesh from the coral’s tail and used a potion to temporarily seal the wound.
He then drew in seawater mixed with Black Tide pollution to fill the glass tank that had contained Kate.
The mermaid Kate stood on the beach, saw the water tank, and very much wanted to dive into it. It was a pity that he could not be allowed to go in and soak in the water as well for the time being, in order to eliminate other disturbing factors.
While Sol was filling the tank with water, Alfonso went over and unbuckled the straps from Coral’s body, then lifted Coral with his floatation technique.
The entire time, he didn’t even touch the coral.
Coral panicked a bit as she floated in the air.
Originally, by leaving the water, she had left the place that reassured her the most, and it was only a momentary curiosity about Saul and the instruments that made her temporarily forget to be on guard.
As a result, she was now suddenly flying, her body suspended, falsely unstressed, her tail swinging, and there was no familiar resistance coming from her.
“Ya-ya …… ya-ya ……” Coral suddenly opened her mouth and called out in a frightened manner.
Alfonso face expressionless, will coral quickly thrown into the water tank.
The water splashed around, but the coral quieted down again.
She saw the seawater around her and spun around happily before hitting her head on the wall of the tank.
“Mermaids, it seems that intelligence is quite low.” Saul stood by the water tank, silently observing, “But Coral’s mental body looks …… a little different.”
Alfonso also stood next to him.
Although just now Saul had simply sucked out the pollution from the coral’s body, the way he used it was completely different from what Alfonso used.
He wasn’t sure if this way, he could avoid the subsequent contamination.
If it could …… that would be incredible.
Alfonso glanced quickly at Sol, then refocused his gaze on the coral.
A few minutes later.
“The contamination in Coral’s body has reached the normal human alert level.” Alfonso continued to record.
Then, they saw that Coral’s tail, which had just been treated, unexpectedly began to show new rotting wounds.
“No way.” Alfonso’s face sank, yet he felt it was justified.
If none of the patients that Coral treated would ever get sick again, then his personal worth would be too much in a world that could be overrun by the Black Tide contamination.
Saul also saw the wounds on Coral’s body.
The mermaid with red hair didn’t seem to be able to feel the wounds on her tail, or perhaps she had gotten used to it, she just glanced at the newly appeared wounds on her tail and continued to carefully maneuver around in the water to avoid another impact.
Thor possessed himself and once again transformed his tentacles to cover the coral’s new wound.
Coral thought about her previous encounter and tried to duck back, but couldn’t because the tank was too small.
Saul didn’t remove the contamination from her body this time, just examining it for a moment before removing the tentacles.
“Her body has undergone some sort of mutation, and her skin festered when the contamination exceeded the limit. There’s just no sign of contagion to be found. Why is this disease, which is similar to a genetic mutation, contagious?”
Saul had already extracted the rotting flesh from Coral’s body before and conducted culture experiments, but no signs of contagion were found. “Could it be that the infectious channel isn’t contact?”
Saul got up and took the coral out of the seawater.
“Again!”
Alfonso: “Huh?”
Coral: “Ya-ya!”
Once again, Coral is cleaned of the contamination, and Saul has another sealed bottle in his hand containing the Black Tide contamination.
After clearing it, Saul once again carried Coral to the water tank.
However, this time, before throwing the coral in, Saul suddenly struck out with a flash of a sharp black blade, directly slicing the coral through a huge wound from the collarbone to the small of the back.
The black sharp blade did not deliberately avoid the vitals, and along the way, the skin, muscles, internal organs, and bones were all sliced out in a flat incision.
Blood burst out at once.
Saul, however, threw the man into the tank before the blood could splash him.
The tank, which was not exactly clear, was immediately muddied by the blood.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah…” Coral seemed to finally understand the threat of death and struggled in the tank as more and faster blood poured out of the wound.
But such a muddy water condition couldn’t stop Saul and Alfonso’s sight, and the two stood right next to the tank, watching the changes in Coral’s wounds attentively.
Time passed little by little, and the coral’s tail once again appeared to have a rotting wound.
Saul glanced at the wound on his tail, then continued to focus his attention on the huge wound on Coral’s chest and abdomen.
After a few more minutes, the coral’s struggles gradually became weak.
A just Alfonso spoke up.
“If you don’t want to kill her now, can you stop?”
If they waited any longer, even if the mermaid’s physique was strong, she would still die.
Saul nodded and leaned down to take Coral out of the bloody water.
This time, his movements were more gentle as he carried Coral back to the lab table and immediately began to clean the wound and close the stab wound with a healing spell.
Despite being treated, Coral’s eyes rolled back in her head and she fainted due to the size of the wound, the loss of blood, and a few minutes of soaking in the seawater.
Saul turned back and picked up the data recorded by Alfonso, “The difference between Coral’s physical data and that of the other mermaids isn’t too big, it will be contaminated mainly in the mental body that has experienced active changes.”
Coral’s tail “snapped” and looked like it was about to wake up.
“But the mental body contamination still doesn’t explain why the rotting disease is contagious.”
Sol frowned, it had been a long time since he’d been in a situation where he didn’t have a clue.
Alfonso walked over to Saul’s side, noticing his difficult look, and spoke, “You don’t have to be too anxious, we still have time. Even if there’s really no way out in the end, we can make up for our losses through numbers as Royer thought.”
“Even if the number is high, if the number of pathogens reaches a certain level, the disease will spread in an uncontrollable manner, and at that time, no number of mermaids will be enough to die.”
Saul turned and looked out to sea, where the offshore was a dazzling red.
It was as if it had been dyed with blood.
“Alfonso.”
“What?”
“Inside the ocean, are there still returning mermaids?”
“Although most of the returning mermaids have already been collected by me. But this sea is so big, there must still be ones left outside.”
“I’ll go to the sea to take a look.” Saul finished speaking and picked up the mermaid Kate from the ground, “Let’s go there together.”
