Chapter 827: The First Step, Completion
Chapter 827 The First Step, Completion
Saul’s reply seemed to say something, and then it seemed to say nothing at all.
Alfonso opened his mouth, but in the end, he didn’t continue to pursue the question.
He knew that Saul wouldn’t say anything even if he asked again.
If he found out what Saul had done, Saul would admit it, but if he didn’t, Saul wouldn’t state it.
As it was now, he really didn’t see if Saul had done anything to Pearl.
Alfonso was silent for a moment and said in a low voice, “I just want to remind you that Pearl is a rare mermaid and can’t just be consumed.”
This time, even Saul, who didn’t care much, couldn’t help but look up at Alfonso.
He thought to himself, “This Alfonso really takes the mermaid princess seriously. Could it be that there’s some other value in the pearl that I haven’t discovered?”
Alfonso stood in place, and for a moment, he actually didn’t know what else to do, so he simply asked Saul, “How ready are you? Can we start the treatment now?”
Saul didn’t answer right away; the crucible in his hand was already burning, emitting a pungent odor, and a black substance clung to the center of the bottom of the pot.
Saul used a scraping spoon to carefully scoop the black substance from the bottom of the pot into a clean petri dish.
Once the petri dish was closed and the crucible cleaned, Saul straightened up and said, “We can begin the first experiment. In fact, I was just waiting for you to show up.”
Alfonso understood why Saul was waiting for them.
It was sort of a stipulation that wasn’t explicitly stated by either side.
“Come on. Let’s go to the coral side.” Alfonso said to Sol, “You bring the materials you need and just signal me.”
Saul managed to collect his research these days into the storage device, and then brought Kate in her mermaid form with him.
Alfonso looked at the mermaid, who was being held by Saul as a balloon and was wearing a black cloak, and couldn’t figure out why Saul was so attached to this ordinary mermaid.
Alfonso also valued Pearl, but Pearl was the mermaid’s princess and had the strongest bloodline in her.
And Pearl …… is still beautiful.
But Saul is certainly not for the same reason.
The mermaid Saul brought with him was uglier than most of the mermaids in the Red Sea, and showed obvious signs of having been deeply remodeled.
“Could it be that Saul is trying to create a new mermaid race?” Alfonso’s eyes flashed, thinking that this matter could be reported to the Court Master.
But for now, he didn’t ask more questions, instead, he brought Saul to the underground waterway once again and rode in a sorcery dinghy, quickly arriving at the seaside waterhole where the contaminated mermaids were being held.
Seeing Alfonso once again using some brown crumbs to lure up the mermaids hiding under the deep pool, “Are these brown crumbs the roots of the Red Sea Tree?”
Alfonso nodded, “Yes, but it’s a root that hasn’t stored the Black Tide contamination.”
These polluted mermaids were now most afraid of the Black Tide, so naturally they couldn’t be fed with rhizomes that had stored Black Tide pollution.
“Do these mermaids usually eat other things as well?” Saul asked.
“Well, Red Sea Tree rhizomes are a necessity, but these rhizomes can’t satisfy the minimum energy for the mermaids to survive, so they usually fish for shrimp to eat.”
Thinking of those mermaids lying lazily on the Red Sea seabed that he saw last time, Saul guessed, “But you would usually only give them a small amount of food, so that they don’t have the extra strength to move around, isn’t that right?”
The corners of Alfonso’s mouth sunk slightly, “Royer thinks that mermaids don’t need any other activities, they just need to be responsible for absorbing pollution and then honestly dying in childbirth.”
At that moment, a brilliant red color appeared in Sol’s eyes as Coral surfaced near the surface once more, her red eyes locked on Sol as she peered curiously.
Sol’s arm threw out a tentacle that seemed like lightning stabbing into the water, directly rolling the mermaid coral out of the seawater and onto the shore.
However, he was more gentle, holding it gently despite its speed. By the time the coral reacted, it was already sitting on a smooth reef, its half-rotted tail dangling to the side. Saul raised his hand and conjured up a huge lab bench with shelves still filled with various instruments and potions.
With a princess hug, Saul carried Coral from the reef to the lab bench.
The cold lab bench made Coral cower for a moment, then reach out curiously to touch it again.
The grayish-black thing seemed colder than the waters of the deep ocean.
Without indulging Coral’s curiosity, Sol stepped forward and secured Coral’s arms, neck, and tail with a belt buckle. Then it was reinforced again with sorcery.
Alfonso stepped forward and watched from the sidelines, “Can I help?”
“Sure, you can help me record the experimental data.”
Saul first used his spiritual power to thoroughly inspect Coral’s body, and found that the contamination in her body was mainly concentrated in her tail, and thus the rotting of her tail was the worst.
After checking, Sol’s hands transformed into translucent gray tentacles and pressed them against Coral’s rotting wounds.
Soon, some black substance emerged from under the whitened wound and was sucked back into Sol’s tentacles.
The intimidating black tide contamination didn’t start spreading and have a bad effect like it did when it entered other people’s bodies after entering Saul’s tentacles, but instead, it was honestly wrapped in the translucent skin, as if it had turned into some black gravel.
Seeing Sol’s strike, Alfonso also narrowed his eyes slightly.
It was the Court Master’s decision to invite Saul over to treat the mermaid contamination, but the Court Master had also specifically instructed Alfonso that more important than treating the mermaids was figuring out how Saul fought against the Black Tide contamination, as well as treating the patients.
Saul, who was able to independently seal the eye of the Black Tide wind, had long surpassed the value of an ordinary third-order sorcerer.
It took an hour for Saul to remove all the pollution from the coral’s tail.
He then began to suck the pollution from the rest of the coral’s body.
The firmly bound coral gradually turned red, and she felt that the suckers on those tentacles seemed to turn into the mouths of small fishes, nibbling every inch of skin on her entire body, seemingly sucking away something but leaving no wounds.
It didn’t hurt, but it itched. So itchy that she just wanted to roll in the sand.
The rotting wound on her tail, though, didn’t hurt as much as it had.
Another half hour passed before Sol put away her tentacles.
Alfonso stared at Sol’s tentacles and saw the black substance inside being forced a little bit to the tips of the two tentacles.
When all the black substance was concentrated at the tips of the tentacles, the limb automatically fell off and dropped in the sealed bottle that Saul had prepared long ago.
Saul’s tentacles reformed into hands and put the sealed bottle away, with no intention of sharing it with Alfonso.
The two third-order sorcerers then turned on their testing instruments and retested the contamination in the coral’s body.
The instrument showed that the contamination value had been drastically reduced, even below the safety warning line for ordinary people.
“Step one, the pollution has been cleaned up.” Alfonso recorded truthfully, but his hands were again trembling lightly from excitement.
Cleaning up the pollution was originally the first difficult level in the fight against the Black Tide, and it could also be said to be the most difficult one.
But in front of Sol, it became a sentence recorded on paper.
It wasn’t as efficient, but it was exceptionally safe.
If such a means could be performed on a high-ranking sorcerer, Saul would become the most popular healer in the entire sorcerer world!
