Chapter 821 – Beneath the Sea

Chapter 821 Beneath the Sea
Royer doesn’t know how to teleport, and Saul doesn’t have coordinates outside the royal palace, so the two honestly fly through the sky.

Fortunately, the flying speed of a third-order sorcerer wasn’t slow, and the Neverwinter Nights Royal Palace was close to the coast, so they soon saw the sea.

The last time he and Alfonso went to the beach, Saul didn’t get to see the Red Sea Tree, this time, the weather was clear, and it happened to catch the falling tide, as far as the eye could see, the beach was a dazzling red.

Red leaves shaped like palms, densely overlapping together. Sporadic black and brown trunks are exposed, and the skin is so bright that it seems to be coated with oil.

The dense red sea forest covered almost the entire offshore sea surface, and the fallen leaves dyed the nearby sea water red.

Royer flew in front of them, directly rushing into the seawater under the trees with his big head down.

Saul followed closely behind, a beautiful posture followed into the water.

Swimming under the Red Sea trees is very difficult. The Red Sea (the name of this sea) wasn’t as spacious underneath as the rest of the sea water, it was filled with coiled Red Sea tree roots, and they couldn’t be destroyed.

But the good thing was that the two men, even when they moved in the sea water, moved with great agility and swiftness, as if they had been wandering in the sky before.

Along the way, Royer introduced Sol to the Red Sea Tree, a child he had carefully nurtured.

Although this child was not born to him, it was definitely raised by him.

“The Red Sea Tree’s leaves absorb nutrients in the air, and its trunk is an important part of the fight against pollution.”

The light had gotten dimmer as the two made their way down.

Although he knew that Saul’s eyesight wouldn’t be greatly affected in this environment, Royer was enthusiastic about lighting up the nearby waters just to show off.

“This is where the Red Sea Tree stores pollution.” Royer led Sol close to the roots of a thigh-thick tree that bore four or five stem pieces the size of a human head.

It was somewhat similar to the sweet potatoes in the ground, but the appearance was still smooth.

Royer unconcernedly crushed a stem block, revealing the dark brown inner flesh inside.

It occurred to Saul that the other day Alfonso seemed to be the one who threw this into the deep pool of water on the beach, drawing out the sick mermaid hiding inside.

Saul went over and took one as well, crushed it in half, and scrutinized the composition of the stem block with his hand.

He found the less active Black Tide contamination hiding in the fibers of the stem block.

However, after he crushed the stem block, the Black Tide contamination inside was rapidly regaining its activity.

As expected, the Red Sea Tree could only absorb the stored contamination and was completely unable to process it.

But even so, their means of temporarily storing the pollution in the seawater with their roots and stems had finally allowed the coastal residents to live normally.

“Royer,” Sol asked Royer, who was staring at him from the side, “Do you know about the Black Sea Tree?”

Royer was not at all surprised that Sol also knew of the existence of the Black Sea Tree.

Although the Judgment Court wouldn’t openly enter the Lordless Lands, it didn’t mean that they knew nothing about the news there.

In fact, it turned out that the third-ranked wizards in the Lordless Land were their greatest source of information.

“Of course I know, the wizard family that advocated for the retention of the Black Sea Tree in the first place was still the one that I led the adjudication.” Royer had an openly smug smile on his face, as if what he was showing off was not killing a whole family, but saving a whole family.

Sol couldn’t help but glance at Royer.

Third-ranked sorcerers lived a long time, and many things that sounded like historical biographies actually happened to the person in front of them.

“The Black Sea Tree is much more efficient at absorbing pollution, and can also treat it somewhat. Have you not tried to merge the advantages of the Red Sea Tree and the Black Sea Tree?”

Species hybridization, each taking advantage of their own strengths.

It was tough, but it was worth a try for the sake of Nefertiti’s future.

The smile on Royer’s face faded a bit, ”Do you think we haven’t thought about it? The key is that the Black Sea Tree and the Red Sea Tree are completely incompatible when it comes to several core characteristics, and there is no way for the two species to combine. Even as soon as the Black Sea Tree appears, the Red Sea Tree will be robbed of its nutrients and die in large numbers.”

Although Royer was a man who was arrogant and flamboyant, he was still very serious when it came to his experiments. “In order to ensure the efficiency of the Red Sea Tree in absorbing the pollution, we don’t even dare to allow the Black Sea Tree to appear in Nefret, and if it wasn’t for the sake of preserving the diversity of species for later, we wouldn’t even allow the Black Sea Tree source to remain in the Masterless Land.”

Royer suddenly stared at Sol, “Justin, the original preserver of the Black Sea Tree Source, is dead. Herbert, who killed him, also died at your hands. The only existing Black Sea Tree Source should be in your hands, right?”

Saul acquiesced.

Royer shrugged his shoulders, making the gesture particularly inconspicuous in the sea, “If it’s in your hands, it’s in your hands. As long as you don’t take it to Nefert, I won’t lead the hunt for you.”

Thor has a straight face, “I still know the story of the Red Sea Tree and the Black Sea Tree.”

Royer was quite happy to see Sol’s sincere face, and it was rare to mention mermaids, “Aren’t you interested in mermaids? I’ll take you to see, they usually don’t come up to shallow waters except for feeding.”

He turned around and swam deeper into the sea, where the roots of the Red Sea trees gradually changed from dense to sparse, but never broke.

Thor hurried to follow Royer, his face just a little stiff.

Because he suddenly remembered that the small algae that lived behind his neck had now just devoured part of the essence of the Black Sea Tree and the Inverted Tree.

Because of the rush of time, Saul hadn’t tested what the little algae that could tie himself into a dead knot was capable of right now.

In case the Little Algae that had fused the Black Sea Tree also possessed the ability that could cause the Red Sea Tree to die of self-imposed extinction ……

Wouldn’t he also usher in the Judgment Court’s undying pursuit?

With chills running down his spine, Saul couldn’t help but touch the back of his head, and then pressed at the back of his neck in a smooth manner.

Fortunately, although the small algae has no brain, but it is better than obedience, and if it is not allowed to come out, it is determined not to come out.

After instructing Xiao Zao, Saul slightly put down his heart, restored his calm demeanor, and followed Royer to continue sinking.

Soon, Saul saw the mermaids living in the deep sea area.

Or it couldn’t be called living, it should be called barely alive.

Where the seabed intersected with the roots of trees, there were a large number of mermaids lying. Each of them was as thin as a bone, the scales on their tails were patchy and peeling off, and there were wounds all over their bodies.

Some of these wounds were still oozing blood, and some had long since rotted. If it wasn’t for the Red Sea Tree and the sorcerer’s means of blocking the predators at the bottom of the sea, these bloody odors would have long ago attracted a large number of carnivorous beasts.

The mermaid clan, it was in the comforting environment deliberately created by the sorcerer that they were struggling to continue.

Saul saw that the mermaids on the seabed were interlocked, like fallen leaves that fell to the ground in the fall and then piled up together.

No one would care how a particular leaf felt.

“It’s winter now, the sea is cold, so when spring arrives, you can come over and take a look.” Royer smiled impishly, “A large breeding site.”

Saul was noncommittal, it wasn’t certain if he’d still be in Nefertiti in the spring, and even if he was, he wasn’t interested in that.

Royer stopped and didn’t continue closer to the seabed, but Saul was still descending and Royer didn’t stop him.

Because of the mermaids lying below, Saul found a spot – a rock with algae growing on its surface – to drop down.

But just as he landed he realized something was wrong.

Feedback from his spiritual power told him that what was covered with algae was not a rock, but the corpse of a mermaid that had been dead for an unknown period of time.

Sol was silent for a moment, and his magic power spread out in all directions with him at the center, sweeping away all the mermaids lying nearby.

Revealing the densely packed corpses below.

The bones of mermaids that had been dead for an unknown period of time.
