Chapter 819.
Chapter 819: The One with the Same Illness
After listening to Sol’s narration, Fluke closed his eyes and when he opened them again, he was still relaxed.
The other party’s reaction was different from what Sol expected.
“I thought you’d be angry or at least emotional after hearing that.”
Fluke waved his hand, “When the Green Scale Clan left this world, the remaining mermaids were all side branches with mixed bloodlines, their original status was very low, even if I was still in this world, they wouldn’t necessarily have a better life than they do now …… Of course, on the surface, they might have a better reputation than they do now. ”
Floco was the equivalent of a god of the Green Scale Race, a god might love and care for his own believing subjects, but wouldn’t care if a certain group of subjects lived happily or not.
“Didn’t you say that this mermaid has your bloodline in it?”
Floco was nonchalant, “Breeding offspring is a basic need, and racial expansion is a guarantee of survival.”
Without commenting on the other party’s habits, Sol took out the sample of contamination obtained from the mermaid’s coral tail.
A lump of flesh, and a bit of blood.
“This is the flesh and blood obtained from the mermaid that showed signs of regression, can you tell if it has your bloodline? There’s actually a higher concentration of mermaid royal bloodline, but that one I can’t get at the moment.”
The meat mass was white, but the blood was on the darker side.
Fluke’s spiritual power swept through and shook his head, “It has nothing to do with me, it should be the bloodline of the other Green Scale Clan.”
He said to Sol, “It doesn’t matter. Like I said, the mermaids that were left behind back then were all refuted bloodlines, and weren’t even the royal clans of our time. It should be that the mermaids left behind elevated themselves on their own.”
There is no tiger in the mountain, the monkey is the king.
Saul expressed his understanding.
“Since it’s not your offspring and you don’t care, I’ll be rude.”
Fluke raised his hand, “Make yourself at home.”
Saul asked the question he had been thinking about for the past few days.
“The mental bodies of returned mermaids are stronger than transformed mermaids. However, their ability to adapt to Black Tide pollution is reduced as a result, so perhaps we can understand what modifications the Judgment Court has made on the mermaids by comparison.”
The Judgment Court had been fighting the Black Tide pollution for hundreds of years, and there was some knowledge that Sol could not obtain even if he was gifted.
“That’s normal. The more powerful the mental body, the more unstable it is. It’s like the taller the building, the more likely it is to collapse.”
Sol nodded, “That’s why we need to reinforce our building materials.”
A tall building without cutting corners was definitely more resistant to construction than a thatched roof.
A light went on in his head as he looked at the clear-headed Floco in front of him, then thought of Kate, and finally of the ugly mermaid who turned out to have only survival instincts.
“The hardest part for the Judgment Court was actually controlling the mermaids. Maybe they just tampered with the mental bodies of the mermaids, then threw all of them into the black tide of contamination and chose the ones that survived for mass breeding?”
“Using natural mutations instead of artificial modifications, if the sample size is large enough, that would indeed save a lot of time.” Floco didn’t fluctuate even when he talked about it.
Sol was a little worried again, “But then there’s not much technology to draw on. The contamination Coral suffered may have been caused only by the fact that her mental body was strong but unstable. But to solve the contamination, do we have to destroy her mental body?”
Thinking of that ruby-like mermaid, Saul’s heart was more or less intolerant.
He thought in his heart, “It’s better to go to the Red Sea Tree and the large number of mermaids to compare the differences. If Alfonso doesn’t lead me there, I can go to Wizard Royer for help.”
……
Wizard Alfonso, who had been electrocuted by Thor, was currently in the Palace of Eternal Night, His Majesty the Emperor’s sitting room, watching Xander draw blood.
There were two teenage sorcerer apprentices who were crouching in front of Xander’s knees, one holding one of his arms.
Both of the sorcerer apprentices’ mouths had been specially modified, with their lips protruding and then gradually converging into a thin syringe.
Their stomach pouches had also been remodeled into two, one for fluid intake and one for storing Xander’s blood.
Such extensive blood draws would take place once a month.
Besides this matter, Xander had tasks that had to be accomplished. That was the weekly mating.
Though the courtiers had a fancy name for this behavior, called legacy, Xander inwardly thought of it only as mating.
The shame that came with the term kept Xander from sinking into numbness as quickly as previous emperors had.
After completing the blood draw, the two female sorcerer apprentices retired. They were not to eat again until the stomach pouches in which they had stored their blood were taken away.
Some were lucky enough to have the open heart surgery done quickly, but others were simply starved to death as a result.
Xander’s face went three shades of white again after the blood was drawn and he leaned back against the soft leather cushions of the recliner, the vertigo in his skull not easing.
He closed his eyes, but felt even worse, so he forced himself to open them and look across the room.
Across from Xander, there was a huge pane of glass that went top to bottom.
It was the room next to his, a room surrounded by crystal glass.
Inside the glass was crystal clear water, clean rocks and algae all around.
It was a room made of water, and it held a royal family as well.
An heir to the mermaid royal bloodline.
Pearl.
She is also a returning mermaid and has one of the strongest bloodlines of any returning mermaid.
She was born with a full cyan fishtail.
She was called Pearl but because she had pearly white hair. When the sunlight shone on it, it would reflect a soft colored light, just like a real pearl.
Alfonso caught a glimpse of her in the school of mermaids and used his sorcery to ingest her from the waters.
He found that this small mermaid with a strange appearance actually possessed a face that resembled that of a young human girl. From the head to the belly, it was close to a human seventeen or eighteen year old girl, with almost no external features of the mermaid race.
Alfonso examined her body several times, always suspecting that there was some kind of hallucinatory influence on the other party.
But after examining it for several years, he still didn’t find any traces of human manipulation.
Pearl really was born looking like this.
However, what didn’t match Pearl’s extremely human aesthetic appearance was that her mental body was mutilated.
This had been personally verified by the Lord of the Court of Judgment, Flimsy.
Pearl only has the intelligence of a three or four year old child, and to this day cannot speak.
Alfonso still had not studied to understand why Pearl, who possessed the strongest mermaid royal bloodline, had a crippled mental body. For the sake of the bloodline and special identity in her, Alfonso has kept her in solitary confinement.
For Xander, who is also under “house arrest”, Pearl is a companion who shares the same sickness.
Across the street, in the glass water room, Pearl was also lying on the wall looking at Xander.
Every time the emperor of the eternal night was taken blood, Pearl would open her rosy little mouth, with a face of shock, lying on the transparent wall to watch the fun.
It was new to her every time, even if she had seen the image hundreds of times.
With difficulty, Xander flashed a smile at Pearl. Across the room, Pearl immediately returned a bigger, brighter smile.
It made Xander feel a little better.
But the mood soon turned bad again as Alfonso had appeared with a bottle of black potion.
He disliked the black potion right in front of Xander’s face, blocking Xander’s gaze at the mermaid, his voice low, “Drink it and go back to sleep.”
