Chapter 775 The Returning Lecturer
Chapter 775 The Returning Lecturer
Paul followed his best friend Nero as he sat in the penultimate row of the classroom.
This was the default ranking of strength among apprentices.
Nero muttered “I hope I’ll be the lucky one chosen today”, but Paul didn’t listen to a word of it.
He knew that the name Saul wasn’t common, but it wasn’t impossible to rename it.
However, when he heard this name for the first time, he somehow remembered Saul, the passenger on the airboat who was clearly being interrogated by him, but had a calm face.
But he was clearly just an ordinary person at that time, and even the testing facilities on the airship hadn’t detected any abnormalities in him.
Could this new lecturer, and that passenger who impressed Paul really be the same person?
Just as Paul was torn, the inside of the corridor suddenly quieted down.
“The tutor is here!”
The staircase classroom was instantly quiet.
Everyone’s eyes lit up.
However, when the door was pushed open and the crowd saw the tutor who had entered, all of them stared in bewilderment.
“What are you looking at, you guys are disappointed that it’s not Sorcerer Sol?”
The person who came in was actually the original mentor of this class.
He had a gloomy face and swept his gaze over everyone, he seemed to be in a bad mood, if anyone dared to be caught by him at this time, he would have to pack a hard punch.
The apprentices in the classroom immediately put away the disappointment and surprise on their faces and sat down honestly.
But not all apprentices were afraid of their mentor.
The apprentice in the last row frowned in obvious disappointment, “Can’t Mentor Saul come over today?”
The wizard on the podium’s mouth twitched, “He’s already been recruited by the House of Seeking Knowledge, you guys don’t have to think about it later-“
“Duh-duh-duh!”
A short and powerful knock sounded on the door, suddenly interrupting the voice of the sorcerer on the podium.
In the next second, Saul unexpectedly walked in through the door.
The sorcerer on the podium looked towards the door with a disconcerted expression, “Who are you?”
Saul walked to the podium nonchalantly, “The lecturer of this class.”
The other party swept over Saul’s entire body, although he was tempted to casually say “So you are Saul”, but thinking that the other party was someone who was actively recruited by the Inquisition Academy, while his own application failed, he revealed a smile.
“So you are Sorcerer Saul, did you leave something here?”
Saul knew that in front of him was the original lecturer that he was substituting for, it’s just that at the moment, his purpose of lecturing here was no longer just to get close to Nathan. So he couldn’t let this original lecturer come back yet.
Saul sidled his head and whispered a few words in the other person’s ear, the latter opened his mouth, half-speaking, and then suddenly reacted at a certain moment, hurriedly gathering up the things he had placed on the podium.
“Alright, no problem, thank you so much, these apprentices will have to trouble you in the future!”
He seemed to be afraid of Sol’s backtracking, holding the books all the way out of the classroom with quick steps.
Leaving behind a classroom of apprentices, both bewildered and surprised.
They thought they would never be able to attend Saul’s class again.
Only Paul, looking at Saul who was calmly relying on the podium, had a blank mind.
At that moment, he suddenly saw Saul look up and meet his eyes, nodding his head imperceptibly.
The morning passed quickly, Saul continued to teach the third level apprentices about the locator at his own pace.
During this time, some people also had the courage to ask some other questions, and he also picked up the parts that were not over the top and answered them.
For these apprentices, certain deep knowledge could not be understood casually when there was no corresponding talent or comprehension.
After class, Saul was first approached by Sorceress Laura. “Sorcerer Saul, why don’t you go to the Court of Knowledge? I’ve never seen anyone who would refuse the solicitation of the Knowledge Seeking Academy!”
Sorcerer Laura had a look of shock on her face, but she unconsciously lightened her tone in the face of Saul.
“It’s not that I won’t go, it’s just that when I was teaching these apprentices, I suddenly realized that the knowledge and understanding that I had once omitted has been filled in. I am now at a stage where I am corroborating each other with the apprentices, and when I have completed this stage, I will report to the House of Seeking Knowledge.”
Laura still found it a pity that the House of Seeking Knowledge was such a desirable existence for a group of First Order wizards like them who might be stuck in the Great Lecture Hall forever, so much so that they had to pretend not to care on the surface to preserve their self-esteem.
When Laura’s wizards were dismissed, Saul waited for Paul.
Paul actually wanted to sneak out, but when he saw Saul on his way out, he thought of Mina, who lived with him, and still stiffened his heart and went forward.
“Saul …… mentor.”
Saul smiled and greeted Paul as he walked along.
“No need to concern yourself with what happened on the airship. In fact I’d like to thank you for reminding me about the ‘cat’s payback’.”
Paul wasn’t very good at ingratiating himself and would only shake his head in silence in this situation.
So it was Saul who continued to speak, “Now that you’re here in class, don’t you need to work on the airboat again?”
“Recently, the airboat didn’t get permission to leave the harbor.”
“Really, it’s been over a month and now it can’t leave port? Is there something wrong?”
“I’m not sure.”
Looking at the uneasy Paul, Saul paused, “What about your daughter?”
Paul immediately tensed up, but could only answer, “Staying with me at a friend’s house.”
“No need to be so nervous.” Saul also didn’t know what horrible images had already come to this guy’s mind, and his face went white, “You’ve kind of helped me out, so if you have any questions in class in the future, you can just ask.”
As a result, Paul said, “Mentor Saul, in the future I …… probably won’t go to class again.”
“Afraid of me?” Saul raised his eyebrows.
He was self-conscious that he was already the most gracious and kind mentor in the large lecture hall.
At the very least, he hadn’t beaten anyone to the point of vomiting blood.
“No, no!” Paul waved his hands in denial, “A third level apprentice would need to pay a fee for classes. I’m on hiatus at the airboat right now, and Mina is following me …… again.”
“Got it.” Saul understood.
Paul’s daughter, little Mina, should have a good talent for mental power. If she managed to survive to the age of ten, after testing, she might become a more powerful sorcerer than her father.
It also made sense for Paul to carefully hide it so that it wouldn’t be captured by any hanging wizard and raised as sorcery material.
But Saul was more optimistic about Paul’s abilities than little Mina, who couldn’t see the specifics yet.
“However, your talent shouldn’t stop at a third level apprentice. If you don’t have time to come to class, you can wait for me outside after class and I can leave you ten minutes.”
Paul clenched his hands and looked expressionless, but in fact, he was already fuming.
Saul smiled, not caring what the other party considered, and left straight away.
Only after walking out a good distance did Penny ask in confusion.
[Brother Saul, why do you suddenly want to continue coming to class? Aren’t we planning to set up an auxiliary spell formation in the Courtyard of Knowledge?”]
Saul walked forward with large strides, the wind and the crowd left behind him.
“The auxiliary spell formation will be set up, but there’s no rush, as long as it’s done before the experiment connecting to the Phantom World. And teaching a class here is my backhand for the other guy.”
Penny thought for a moment.
[You mean …… the Water God?]
