Chapter 757 – Sky City, Tweed Flowers
Chapter 757 – Sky City, Tweedledum Flower
Sol was invited onto a small airship by the Sky City Witch.
This small airship was obviously much more technical than the large airship.
Large airships still relied on light balloons to take off, and witchcraft on it mainly played the role of guiding the direction, controlling the speed, and maintaining safety.
However, the small airship that Saul was traveling on now relied entirely on magic power to take off.
The Sky City could keep a huge island afloat for a long time, let alone a small pocket airship.
“The locals call it a flying carriage.” The sorceress had just finished introducing herself, her name was Ona, Oliphia’s close officer in charge of Sky City’s internal affairs.
In Saul’s opinion, it was the same role as the butler Hope.
“Ahead is the most beautiful landscape of Sky City, the Flower Sea Street.” Ona didn’t seem to be in a hurry to bring Saul to Ophelia, but instead introduced the layout and scenery of Sky City to Saul like a tour guide.
When Saul looked out along the window of the flying carriage, he saw the sea of flowers that he had seen on the airship earlier.
When the wind picked up, there were pink and white petals swirling and flying onto the windows of the carriage, before they were quickly blown away by the next breeze.
“This is the most abundant plant in town, the tweed flower. We actually grow it mostly to strengthen the soil and conserve moisture.” Ona actually introduced it in a decent manner, “By the way, you basically won’t see any ordinary people from here on out. The minimum requirement to do something here is also a second level apprentice.”
As if to cater to the fantastic beauty of the tweed flowers, the buildings here were all very elaborate.
The most common thing on the streets were the small two or three story buildings. Almost every small building had sorcery spell formations inscribed on the roofs and walls.
There weren’t many pedestrians on the streets, and those that were there were walking in a hurry. Many people had flower petals stuck to their bodies.
It seemed that because they were in a hurry, no one would brush the petals off their bodies. It seems that these passers-by are also integrated with the surrounding sea of flowers.
On the left front of the flying carriage, there happened to be a window on the second floor that was pushed open.
A teenager with a full head of blonde hair and a fair face poked his head out, seemingly admiring the beautiful scenery outside.
Then, Saul saw him raise his hand and push out a …… corpse from inside the window.
The corpse’s head and limbs had been mutilated, and it seemed to have been gnawed on by some creature.
As it fell down the second floor window, there was a large amount of blood sprayed on the pink and white walls.
“Bang!”
The body fell onto the street soil that was covered in flower petals, splattering countless petals that were already tattered.
The petals buried the body again as they fell again.
It didn’t take long.
The moment the flying carriage sped past, the body suddenly disappeared.
Only the bloodstains on the walls could still prove that what had just happened was not an illusion.
Oona was sitting beside Saul and also saw the scene of the corpse being thrown out just now, but her expression and demeanor didn’t change in the slightest. It was as if what the blonde teenager had thrown out earlier was not a corpse, but a handful of wildflowers.
“Alright.” Saul secretly laughed, “This is really still the wizard world, not a paradise.”
The flying carriage continued to move forward, the sea of flowers gradually disappeared, and the exquisite landscaped small buildings turned into boarded up townhouses and a small square with different functions.
“This is the Courtyard of Seeking Knowledge, and over there is the Courtyard of Practice.”
There wasn’t much scenery in the Courtyard of Seeking Knowledge, and most people were in their houses and didn’t come out. Occasionally, there were people reading books in the plaza, in a very studious and hardworking manner.
But when the flying carriage passed by the Practice Courtyard, Saul realized that the small square here was much more lively.
The wizards in one of the small squares seemed to be doing some kind of experiment. It just so happened that the experiment failed, and the upper body of the sorcerer apprentice who was assisting on the side was blown to pieces.
A large amount of blood accompanied by chunks of flesh sprayed out.
The sorcerer, who had nothing to do with it, was looking at his notes and reviewing them, concerned only with why the experiment had just failed.
In less than a few minutes of work, Saul witnessed two deaths.
But no one made a fuss either where the accidents occurred or on this flying carriage. Only the pink petals swirled in the wind as if disturbed.
Saul opened the car window and reached out to pinch a petal, “This tweed petal wouldn’t be dyed with human blood, right?”
Ona covered her mouth in surprise, and her words were a bit playful, “Don’t tease us, human blood stinks.”
The flying carriage passed through the Courtyard of Practice and the Courtyard of Knowledge, and crossed the densely-packed residential area, and a ring-shaped sea of flowers, before finally arriving at the tallest building in Sky City, a light-blue castle that could merge with the sky.
Ona smiled with pride in her eyes, “There is the white glazed palace where the city lord is located.”
The flying carriage slowly landed on an open-air platform.
At the edge of the platform were standing three people, two men and a woman, who were intently and fiercely discussing something, seemingly completely unaware of the carriage’s landing.
The two men were dressed in ordinary black wizard robes, while the woman was dressed in a navy blue dress, her long hair was half coiled up, the rest of it hanging down over her shoulders and chest, and even her skin was glistening.
Standing there abruptly and dazzlingly.
When the flying carriage stopped, Ona jumped out first.
Sol saw her walk straight over and curtsy to the woman in the blue dress.
“City Lord, I’ve invited His Excellency Sol over.”
That woman was actually Ophelia?
She’s not waiting for me here, is she?
Saul barely sensed the slightest fluctuation of magic power on her, and other than her outstanding appearance, she was like an ordinary person.
Hearing Ona’s words, Ophelia stopped her discussion and looked over sideways, nodded her head slightly at Saul, and then said to Ona, “Please, Your Excellency Saul, go see me in the main hall.”
Ona curtsied again and then returned, and did not allow Saul to come forward to greet Ophelia.
Saul was a bit puzzled, and then heard Ona say, “Please follow me to the main hall to meet the Lord of the City.”
After saying that, Ona walked ahead.
Sol followed, took two steps, and then turned back to look at Ophelia, who was still standing at the edge of the platform talking to the two male witches.
“Maybe she’ll go to the main hall when she’s done talking?” Sol turns back and continues to follow Oona, “Looks like it’s going to be a while over there. Maybe I can release Pelle and Nerilla, since Ophelia can sense me coming onto the island, she should be able to spot her sister as well.”
However, Saul went over his head and just walked less than ten meters, but he unexpectedly encountered Ophelia again!
At this moment, this witch wearing a blue dress was discussing something with another witch – different from the two male witches from before – while walking, clutching a few snow-white manuscript papers in her hands.
The expression was calm and focused.
Ona curtsied again when she was less than three meters away from Ophelia.
“Lord City Lord.”
Ophelia didn’t even nod at her this time, and walked past Ona and Sol as if she hadn’t seen anything.
Saul’s gaze followed Ophelia who brushed past him, turning back a little until he saw the other party walking over to the platform as well.
At this moment, there were actually two identical Ophelia’s standing on the platform, one on the left and one on the right!
Whether it was Ona, or the witches who were talking to the two Ophelias separately, none of them raised any questions about this.
“Is this split witchcraft?” Sol couldn’t help but ask Ona beside him.
“Yes, Lord Sol.” Ona smiled and nodded, “Lord City Master always says that time is limited and knowledge is infinite, if she could, she would like to take on thousands of bodies in order to pursue more knowledge.”
Saul couldn’t help but sigh, “Creating a split body isn’t difficult, and splitting the soul is just a bit more painful, but splitting the soul while splitting out a portion of consciousness that can think independently …… Lord Ophelia can be really powerful!”
He suddenly thought of Pei’er in the diary.
In fact, she was also a consciousness that was split out by the wind demon Pei’er’s initiative.
It was surprising that these two sisters both liked to cut themselves!
