Chapter 754: I will definitely win you in three rounds.
Chapter 754: I Will Definitely Win You Three Games
What Mike took out was like a craft that could only be made by a craftsman’s apprentice, without a hint of artistry.
The only thing that could be taken away from the white porcelain cat sculpture in his hand was probably just an overall outline.
It looked like it had some high-flying demeanor and posture.
“Haha, Saul, looking at you, I knew you were a little disappointed with it right?” Maite smiled mysteriously, seemingly not surprised by Sol’s behavior.
He stretched out his index finger and shook it twice in front of Saul, “This is the first piece of advice you’ll get from an elder who’s been running a business out there for more than a decade: never be fooled by the superficiality of things.”
He placed the white porcelain kitten on the dining table and gently stroked the kitten’s head with his hand.
“I will now give you a personal demonstration.” Mike took out another positive dodecahedron dice, “Dice know, right? We throw it randomly to compare the size. I just petted the Cat God and received a brief blessing. I will definitely be able to beat you in the next three games.”
After saying that, Mike held out his hand to Saul, signaling him to go first.
Saul pinched the dice and thought to himself, “Could Mike be a hustler or a skillful gambler?”
He didn’t control the force and casually tossed the dice into the plate Mike had set up.
The number on the dice facing up was 10.
It was already a big number.
Mike smiled broadly and picked up the dice, also throwing it casually.
The dice clashed with the plate with a crisp sound.
When the dice stopped again, the top number was 11.
It happened to be a little more than Saul’s.
Without saying anything, Saul picked up the dice and casually threw it a second time.
This time it was a six.
And Mike threw it casually as well.
The dice arced through the air and when it stopped, it was an 8.
Mike looked up at Saul, “I’ve won you two games oh?”
Saul clasped his hands to his chest and reached out one hand to point at the dice on the plate again.
“This time you go first.”
Mike raised his eyebrows and smiled a sly smile that seemed to say, “I already know what you’re thinking.”
He didn’t push back, though, still picking up the dice and throwing them casually.
This time he threw an 11.
A fairly large, but not quite the peak number of points.
Saul reached down and squeezed out the dice.
He felt the texture of the dice with his fingers, and didn’t notice a sandwich in the material inside.
Then it seemed that the other party had thrown the dice with great subtlety.
But Saul wasn’t afraid, with his control over his muscles, he could throw a few points if he wanted to.
With a flick of his middle finger, the dice flew out and landed on the plate with a “ding” and started spinning.
When the rotation was about to stop, the two could already see that the top of the dice was a 12 point.
However, just as the dice were about to stop, the entire airship suddenly shuddered and instantly dropped about half a meter.
“Don’t worry, sometimes air currents, or flying birds, can cause the airship to vibrate, nothing will happen.” Mike was so calm, he didn’t even bother to look at the dice on his plate.
Saul shifted his gaze from Mike’s subdued face to the plate on the table.
Because of the vibration that had just occurred, the dice on the plate had instantly gone from a 12, which was about to stop, to a 9!
Saul looked at Mike again, and the other didn’t fidget a bit from start to finish.
Finally, he looked at the white porcelain kitten that was quietly crouching on the table.
“Luck is what it is, indefinable, indefinable, but it does exist.” Mike leaned back and smiled even more smugly, “People used to say that luck likes to visit those who are prepared. But there are just some people who prepare their whole lives and don’t see luck favor them once.” He leaned forward again, elbows on elbows, fingers crossed, resting against his chin, “And you’ve been given a chance to buy luck outright today.”
“How much?” Saul asked bluntly.
The corner of Mike’s mouth, held back by his fingers, quirked.
He could tell from the last throw of the dice Saul had just made that the lad in front of him had some skills.
But the more capable a person was, the easier it was for them to fall into the other extreme after failing at something they were certain of.
They would somehow believe in the deed that overcame their own instincts.
Even if that opportunity seems beyond ridiculous.
“Since you’re so painfully honest, I won’t sell you short. Twenty thousand silver coins, or twenty magic crystals.”
Saul raised his eyebrows, “You still accept magic crystals?”
“Of course, all of you are going to Sky City to make a living, don’t tell me you don’t have magic crystals ready on you.”
“There is, but I need to think about it, this money …… is too much.”
“Sure.” Mike nodded first, but then reminded Saul, “But Saul, good luck won’t stay where it is waiting for you. If you can’t make up your mind before the airship reaches Sky City, I’ll have to give up on this deal.”
After Saul returned to the room, Kate, who had held her tongue all the way, finally couldn’t help but speak up, “I think this person is a seasoned liar. That white porcelain kitten is ugly and doesn’t have the slightest fluctuation of magic power, he even tried to cheat you out of twenty magic crystals. If we were really just ordinary people, those twenty magic crystals would basically be a lifetime of savings.”
“But he did win me three times.” Saul pondered, “And the last one was an accident, not something a normal person like him could do.”
“Lord Saul, at first glance you don’t often deal with such people.” Kate licked her cat’s paw, “A man like Mike would surely have some other way of interfering with your dice, even if he didn’t encounter airship vibrations. And did you notice the time limit he gave you to consider? Why before the airship arrives in port? Because as soon as you have completed your transaction, he will leave the airship immediately and then you will never find him again! Of course, that’s only based on the premise that you’re just a normal person.”
“Kind of makes sense.” Saul nodded, “That’s why I’m going to go back over there tonight and check on that ceramic kitten.”
“Tonight?” Kate blurted out, “How are we going to see it?”
Saul drew a wavy line in the air with his hand, “Float over.”
The whiskers at the corners of Kate’s mouth quivered, “…… you’re happy.”
……
That night, Saul lay on the narrow bed and completed a spiritual out-of-body experience.
The orange cat, nestled in a chair and sleeping, seemed to sense something and raised one eyelid, closing it again when he saw Saul still in bed.
It was still muttering under its breath, “I knew it wouldn’t go.”
Saul didn’t wake Kate and floated straight upward.
He quickly made it to the upper level and after going through a few walls, he finally made it to Mike’s room.
During the day today, when the airship was vibrating, he vaguely felt a spiritual force.
But that spiritual force was very special, a spiritual force fluctuation he had never seen before.
It was fast and faint.
It was like fluff floating in a willow, making it completely indistinguishable from the wind.
Saul decided to turn into the out-of-body state of his soul, which had a keener sense of mental bodies, and went over to check on that white porcelain kitten again.
He believed that in this state, as long as the white porcelain kitten produced the slightest fluctuation, he would be able to sense it.
However, when Saul passed through the last wall and arrived at Mike’s room, he was silent.
Because Mike …… is dead.
He was sitting in a chair, bent over, face down.
Drowned in less than three centimeters of wash water in the basin.
At his feet, the white porcelain kitten that had been carefully guarded by Mike during the day fell to the floor and broke in half.
