Chapter 734 Exit

Chapter 734 The Exit
“What’s this?” Shia looked down, not realizing he had an extra eye on his brow.

What Thor had handed him was a white tooth encased in a gray transparent substance.

It looked like a beast’s tooth wrapped in gray amber.

“It’s a tooth.” Saul answered seriously.

Across the table, Shia narrowed her eyes breathlessly, “I can tell.”

Saul smiled, “You still don’t want to know exactly what it is, just know that if you’re in a critical situation and have no other way to save yourself, this thing can cause you and your enemy to suffer great damage at the same time.”

Shia stared speechlessly again, “So what are you lending it to me for? To kill myself? So as not to be controlled by Beth and become her slave?”

“It’s chronic suicide.” Saul remained calm, “As long as you win, you can come back to me before you die and I can save you. If you lose, you can at least avenge yourself.”

Shia looked torn, but still accepted the wrapped tooth.

Afterwards, Saul used the Secret Speech Technique to tell Shia how to use the tooth.

Shia stared at Sol with wide eyes, wanting to speak.

Saul patted Shia’s back, “Alright ……”

The house began to tremble around it again.

The orange cat, Kate, immediately arched her back, switching to upright in response, “Those roots are coming back.”

Shia was just about to turn into a full moon again, but was stopped by Thor, “Leave us alone, you go straight to where you need to go. Beth is recovering faster and faster, there’s not much time left for you.”

“Huh?” The orange cat froze and snatched the question, “What about us?”

“Fight if you can, run if you can’t.” Sol said indifferently.

“Huh?” Kate’s cat eyes widened.

Shia, however, was resolute, “Fine, take care of yourselves then.”

His figure instantly disappeared, not worrying at all about who would decontaminate him if Sol and the orange cat died under the tree root’s attack.

It seemed that he suddenly had a lot more trust in Sol.

After Shia left, this already unstable space was immediately invaded by countless thick tree root branches.

As if these tree root branches had their own consciousness, as soon as they broke through the room they immediately attacked Saul and the orange cat.

The orange cat Kate nervously prepared to find a gap to fight, but before taking action, she was picked up by Saul by the back of her neck.

Kate: “?”

“What are you doing? Put me down now!”

Saul, however, calmly said, “The deal has been made, there’s no need to stay here now.”

Kate was even more confused, looking at the sharp branches that were about to touch her, and was just about to cast a spell when she was directly interrupted by a tug from Saul.

“Hey!!!”

In the next second, however, Kate realized that the entire world suddenly stood still.

Broken houses, crumbling rocks, snarling tree roots, sharp spikes ……

Everything stayed quietly in place.

Only the hand behind her was still carrying herself through the air.

“What’s going on?”

He then heard Saul’s voice.

“If you want to get out of here, you need to see the place.” Saul looked around at the world that had suddenly stood still due to his mental suppression, “Just like the old manor, if you can’t see the path in front of you, you won’t be able to find the exit.”

He carried the orange cat and flew into mid air, “Kate, actually, this city …… is upside down.”

Not giving Kate time to understand, Saul closed his eyes.

At the moment he closed his eyes, Kate suddenly felt a wave of dizziness.

When he adjusted to the vertigo, he suddenly realized that the world had turned upside down.

The gravity was coming from the top of his head, but he wasn’t crashing to the ground.

“What’s keeping me from falling?”

Kate looked down to inspect, then was startled by what she saw.

The reason he hadn’t been able to fall over his head turned out to be that there were many fine roots under his feet that curled around his limbs and torso!
And these roots had extremely thin tips that were following the pores of his skin and drilling into his body!
“Holy shit!” Kate immediately struggled, trying to shake off the entanglement of the roots.

But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t rip the roots off his body.

Just as he was about to try to light a fire, he heard Saul’s calm voice again. “There is no need to be afraid.”

Thor opened his eyes as well, seeing the roots on his body and not caring at all as he looked up and around.

The house that Shia had made collapsed with a loud bang, crashing down towards his head, and as the dust lingered, he could faintly see many tall, dark figures standing around him.

In the distance were many square shadows suspected to be tall buildings. Nearby there were also a few more slender black shadows that looked like streetlights.

It was as if the nighttime city that the two had just left had actively come over to look for them.

Saul raised his hand and the wind carried away the dust, and the scenery around them became clear.

“Oh my God!” Cait exclaimed breathlessly from beside her, “Have we always been in places like this?”

“Yes.” Saul was also a little shaken, “So this is what Beth’s sacrifice was like.”

Where was the towering building around them a building?
It was a tree branch that was extremely thick and straight towards the sky.

In Saul’s eyes, it was like a tall building.

There was a hard knot like a sarcoma growing in these branches.

And in the center of the hard knot was a human head growing.

Upon closer inspection, it wasn’t actually a human head growing on it, but rather a human being wrapped up in the fruit of the tree, with only a head left outside, drooping helplessly.

Saul suspected that the shadows they saw in the night, and the pedestrians they saw in the day, were the souls of these people.

Demented, mechanical.

Mannequins that were completely controlled by the Inverted Tree.

Life, death, and annihilation are all easily controlled by others with their consciousness.

Unlike the awake Shia, these trapped people were probably still living in the city that was busy and full of false hope.

Until death and then oblivion.

The roots on Saul and Kate were growing and getting deeper into their skin.

“What to do? Will we become like those people? Trapped here forever?” Kate’s voice was also trembling.

“Meow.” He couldn’t help but purr again.

“Now that we’ve seen the way, we can find the exit back.”

As Sol finished speaking, the skin on his body suddenly began to fade away, revealing the black bones inside.

As the skin disappeared, the roots wrapped around his body suddenly lost their point of focus.

Just as the roots tried to move forward to continue wrapping around Saul’s bones, several gray tentacles reached out and twisted onto the roots in turn, gently twisting the other side.

There was black smoke gushing out from the ports of the root whiskers.

It was the contamination belonging to the inverted tree.

When Saul was a first order sorcerer, he had once not dared to tangle with the root whisker because of this pollution, but now ……

The black viscous liquid was spat out by the suction cups on the tentacles and sprayed directly onto the black mist, which in turn stained the nearby root whiskers.

These black liquids were like piranhas that were suddenly put into the water, and as soon as they came into contact with the black mist and the root whiskers, they began to corrode desperately and spread rapidly, directly emptying the nearby root whiskers.

Kate was being carried by Saul, so naturally she was also stained with the black liquid.

Seeing those corroded roots, he thought he would also fall into such a situation, and meowed in fear.

After a while, he realized that the black liquid on his body had only corroded his own roots, but he was not hurt at all.

The surrounding branches and roots were instinctively afraid of the black liquid released by Suoer, and each one of them curled up and retreated.

A large number of roots and whiskers retreated, revealing a point of light not far from Saul’s feet.

“There! There!” Kate immediately realized that there was the exit from the Inverted Tree, “So it was underground all along!”

Thor looked up one last time at the top of his head.

There was a sea of black fire, with countless figures struggling in the fire.

He then regained his appearance, took Kate with him, and flew towards the point of light.

Crossing the point of light was like traveling to another world.

With a flash of light, Saul and Kate rejoined the large stump that was bare, yet fresh in cross-section.
