Chapter 732: Be Bold

Chapter 732: No harm in being bold

Once Beth was ready to sacrifice the entire city of Kaukoust, she made the decision to flee the western region with her beloved.

Since she wasn’t even going to stay here anymore, she naturally didn’t care what effect this sacrifice would have on the entire western region of the continent.

However, right after she tricked more and more people over, a small accident, a small oversight, caused the entire sacrifice to come to a halt.

This little accident was naturally the Shia sorcerer who had long been captured by Beth and whose spirit was manipulated by the Inverted Tree.

After listening to Xiaya s narration, Saul looked up and down at the spirit body in front of him, “How did you …… do it?”

Shia: “This is my secret weapon, I can’t tell you.”

Thor didn’t give him a hard time, “Fine, my purpose isn’t you anyway. But there is one thing you must tell me, what is the reason for your current state?”

Shia got annoyed, it seemed like introducing his hidden problems to others was making it difficult for him.

Still, thinking about his situation, he quickly blurted out the answer.

“After my soul was sucked in by the Inverted Tree, I’ve had to follow Beth’s command for many of my actions, though I’ve barely maintained an independent consciousness. I’ve also been careful not to be exposed, and only occasionally do something of my own to keep myself together.”

“Then once I realized that the entire Inverted Tree was actually absorbing the souls of the city’s inhabitants, I knew I had to find a way out of here. As long as I’m still trapped here, I’ll one day be just like those absorbed souls, turned into sustenance for Beth and the Tree of Inversions.”

“That’s why I prepared for a few months later, when Beth ran to the very center of the Inverted Tree once again, I deliberately took away one of the key nodes in her spell, and immediately escaped while she was trapped due to the spell’s backlash.”

“You’ve got a lot of guts!” Kate stretched out her cat’s paw at Shia, “Even though Beth is already a spirit body, she was once a powerful third-ranked sorcerer. You really trapped her by casually destroying the spell formation!”

Saul watched Shia pursing her lips and ignoring it, knowing that there was still a hidden secret.

“What happened after that?” Sol asked.

Only then did Shaya skip the most crucial node, “After that, Beth went so far as to unleash her sacrifice early in order to prevent me from escaping, directly pulling in the entire inner city to help her stabilize her mental body.”

“So now the entire inner city has turned into ashes?” Saul clasped his hands to his chest, “The souls were drawn out and the bodies turned into ashes.”

“Pretty much,” Shia said, “Because she absorbed a large amount of spirit bodies before she was ready, she’s trapped now and can’t come out to get me, but if she waits until she can take control of her ego, she’ll surely seek me out and rip me to shreds.”

Shia looked grave, clearly fearful of Beth’s threat.

“Then why are you unable to leave the Inverted Tree now? Since you’ve made so many preparations, you must know the way to leave, right?”

“Of course I know, but I won’t tell you until you help me lift my confinement.”

“Didn’t I say, I’ll help you heal and you help me find the seed. The confinement on your body is also a disease for you, so I will naturally help you heal as well.”

Looking at Shia’s heartfelt yet wary look, Sol added a little more fire, “But, you’re going to help me get the seed of the Inverted Tree anyway, so how about setting the goal a little bigger when it comes to action?”

Shia immediately began to suspect Sol’s purpose, “What are you going to do? Don’t try to trick me, here, I can kick you all out at any time!”

Saul laughed lightly, not caring about Shaya’s threat at all, and continued to compel, “Anyway, you’re only left with a spirit body now, which is equivalent to being dead, and even if you escape from the Inverted Tree, you’ll just be lingering on. Why don’t you go to Beth, take advantage of her being trapped, and directly snatch her Tree of Inversions …… how about it?”

“Ka!” Kate once again heard the sound of her cat’s jaw dropping to the ground.

Kate whipped her head around to look at Saul in a daze.

Just now he had thought that Shia, who dared to count on a third-ranked sorcerer, was a fool, and now Saul was a madman in his eyes.

“You’re crazy!” Shaya directly spoke Kate’s mind, “You’re trying to get a way to escape and then trick me into dying!”

“I can wait until you get back the seed of the Tree of Inversion before I leave.”

Shia still didn’t believe it, “Then you’re trying to do something bad while I’m stealing the seeds of the Inverted Tree.” Saul’s heart jumped as he thought, “This guy’s guess is pretty accurate.”

However, his face didn’t change, “Then let me ask you, will you take me to the core of the Tree of Inversion?”

Shia froze and immediately shook his head, “No way!”

Thor spread his hands, “Then how do you think I’m going to do something bad?”

Not waiting for Shaya to think, Saul continued to raise the stakes, “I can help you heal right now, can’t you kick us out at any time? How about when I’m done healing, you can go get the seeds for me, how about that?”

Shia still hesitated, “You would be so kind to help me heal first?”

“The spirit body is your own, can’t you tell the difference between good and bad?”

Shia was still hesitating.

Saul frowned, was such an undecisive and fearful of danger Shia really the right person for the job?

Suddenly, the entire house shook violently, and the pendants on the table and overhead shattered all over the place.

A few thick branches drilled out of the walls and snaked up, quickly wrapping the walls around the entire room.

“Meow! What’s this? How did the tree roots get here?” Kate immediately ran to the very center of the room.

A look of panic flashed across Shia’s face, but instead of tying his hands and resisting, he once again turned into a ball of light, and the white light once again engulfed Saul and Kate’s silhouettes.

When the light cleared, Saul realized that they were in another place.

He hadn’t been here before, so he thought it was another of Shia’s secret bases.

“You really don’t have much time left.” Inwardly, Saul was still a bit thankful for the tree root that had just appeared, “Are you willing to make this deal or not? Don’t waste other people’s time.”

Shia knew that Sol was right.

He was, after all, Beth’s puppet, and even if he briefly got rid of the other party’s control, he would have no choice but to be controlled by it again after Beth’s state was restored.

Under the combination of nervousness and fear, Saul’s proposal, which he had just treated as a beast, gradually turned into a fatal temptation.

“If, if we can snatch the Inverted Tree over ……,” Shia seemed to be fearful, or perhaps excited, his whole body was trembling.

“If I can become the owner of the Inverted Tree, I won’t have to run away.”

Thor nodded in relief, “Not only do you not have to run away, you also have the hope of resurrection.”

Shia looked up sharply at Sol.

“You’re a very gifted wizard, what Beth can do, can’t you do?”

Shia’s breathing immediately became ragged, though he hadn’t had to breathe for a long time.

“Yes!”

Finally, Shaya agreed to Saul’s devilish proposal.

“You can help me heal now, I’m afraid that those tree roots will come looking for me too in a short while. This is a sign that Beth is gradually recovering, we don’t have much time.”
