Chapter 723: The Second Beating
Chapter 723 – The Second Poisonous Beating
That huge demon with twelve symmetrical limbs and a human face finally slowly walked away, under the distant starry dome, her back gradually distorted and merged into the distant chaos, and in the place she once occupied, only the black bones and flesh that were gradually disintegrating and rising were left behind, as well as dozens of scarred and battered “indigenous creatures” that were struggling to regain their strength. The “indigenous creatures” are struggling to regain their strength.
A few Hounds struggled to get up from the pile of bones, their bodies were already in pieces, the bird of death hovered over the lifeless remains, searching for useful substances that could be used to regain strength, and the huge skull covered with spikes slowly landed on the ground not far away, with dark red hollow eyes gazing at the demons on the plains.
After the departure of the higher demons, a fragile and dangerous balance had formed between these remaining Profound Demons, but this short-lived equilibrium was soon to be broken.
When the common fear subsided, the instinct to fight and destroy would take over again – killing and devouring each other was the eternal logic of the Deep Sea, especially when there was “food” all around and every demon needed to recover from their injuries as soon as possible.
The first of them, scavenging for usable bone fragments in the piles of skeletons, let out a hostile growl at the birds of prey circling in the sky, followed by the sooty jellyfish emerging from the shadows, which silently extended their curved and sinister tentacles towards the nearby Dreads, and the black skulls gradually floated up from the ground, their jaws slowly opening, with a dangerous energy floating inside… …
Even though they were being rubbed on the ground by a powerful and strange “alien demon” a moment ago, they couldn’t stop these profound demons from falling back into killing each other at this moment.
But just when the battle was about to break out, an additional voice suddenly came from a short distance away, instantly interrupting the actions of these demons.
The pitch-black cranium was the first to detect the aura of the outsider, and it violently drew up its position and turned its head to look in the direction from which the voice came.
A large shadow was staggering across the plains, as if it had suddenly appeared out of the air, the rising and shrinking shadows outlining an ever-changing silhouette.
This scene was like those “newborn demons” that had just been born from the limbs of the Profound Holy Lord – they would often take on such a chaotic and formless appearance, and after a period of devouring and fusion, this chaotic and formless “demonic matrix” would be formed. The “demonic matrix” will only collapse and coalesce into a specific demonic “species” after a period of devouring and fusion.
However, the uninvited guest that appeared on the wilderness was obviously not a “newborn demon” – as a mass of “demonic matrix” with an uncertain shape, the aura it emitted was too dangerous and bizarre. …… and bizarre.
The sense of crisis made all the profound demons on the scene instantly put down the urge to fight with each other, and instinctively put their guards on the constantly shrinking and writhing mass of shadows.
A solid entity slowly appeared in that mass of shadows, a …… profound hound constructed by countless broken bone fragments floating, almost twice the size of its peers.
Dog felt like he had a long, long dream.
It couldn’t remember much of what happened in the dream, but it remembered that it had traveled to a place far, far away, where it had met some people, some friends, and that it had lived among a group of small, weak, and orderly creatures, and that it had taken it a long time to learn a set of “rules of survival”.
And an equally small and weak …… creature was always at his side.
…… Yes, where did the small, weak creature go?
It slowly raised its head, and its muddled vision seemed to be covered with a thick curtain, and everything in its gaze took on the appearance of distorted layers This place …… looked somewhat familiar, but it seemed like it hadn t been back for a long time.
It felt that it did not like this place – it preferred to live with the “little creature” in a place where the sun shone.
There were many shadows and shadows gathered around in the mist and curtains, and there were distant, vague growls and murmurs from all directions, seemingly threatening, seemingly malevolent.
Dog tried hard to keep his eyes open to see what the shadows that were whispering to him really looked like, but he could never see them clearly – but gradually, he sensed something else.
That feeling originated in itself – hunger.
It was hungry, very, very hungry, as if it had not eaten for a century, and then suddenly came to a …… place where food was plentiful.
And also driven by the feeling of hunger, its chaotic mind finally began to recall some impressions related to that long “dream”.
It recalled the little creature, it remembered that he had accompanied the little one through the long winter nights, when the weather was very cold, they were wrapped in blankets together to hide in the house ……
Together they shared hot soup from a kind neighbor – he only ate a bite at a time ……
Together they learned how to survive in that big city-state, learning to understand the good and the bad in people’s hearts, learning to tell the useful from the dangerous in the garbage can ……
Begging, cheating, factories, chimneys, stealing, beatings, relief soup, working hard, eating well, crying together, laughing together, and ……
Live.
The hisses of menace and hostility rose and fell in the hazy, layered curtains, growing more and more impatient, and then a swift shadow suddenly rushed from some direction and launched itself in a furious attack.
Dog felt something bite at him – it hurt slightly. In the rising and writhing shadows, Dog’s skeletal head slowly lowered its sight, and in the depths of its pair of empty sockets, an eerie green light was flickering brightly and dimly, gazing with slight curiosity at the …… thing that was biting into itself.
A Phantom Hound – one of its own kind by the looks of it.
Dog’s body was rapidly molding in the shadows and black mist, with strange bone fragments extending out from its joints, helping it to regain the original appearance of a Profound Hound. It gazed at the “kindred spirit” that was biting its own body, and only after a few seconds did it speak in a somewhat rusty voice: “Have you guys Have you seen a human? She is my friend.”
The Fathomhound that was tearing at Dog’s torso suddenly hesitates and stops, but it doesn’t understand Dog’s question – it’s not intelligent enough to do so.
It merely sensed great danger – in the depths of Dog’s eye sockets, which were flickering with ghostly green fire, lay a very familiar aura of dangerous terror.
The profound hound finally reacted, but it was too late, it just had time to let go of its mouth, and in the next second, the bone fragments of Dog’s entire body instantly disintegrated and deformed – countless black skeletons exploded in all directions and enveloped the attacker’s figure like a whirlwind, and then reorganized themselves into the form of Dog outside of the latter’s body in the blink of an eye!
Mouth, eating inefficiently, devouring as a whole, more efficient.
The reckless assailant disappeared, and there was only the tall figure of Gou, the dark bone fragments on its torso were violently contracting and writhing, and there was a burst of creaking and grinding sounds coming from inside its body, accompanied by the “food’s” violent struggles and low muffled hisses… -But only a few seconds later, the struggle and low roar gradually stopped, leaving only the noise of the bone fragments grinding each other.
The hunger was easing.
Dog lifted his head, sensing the gradual recovery of his strength.
“Demon …… delicious ……”
The feast began.
In the hissing and murmuring of countless demons, Dog’s figure suddenly transformed into countless scattered and cracked black bone fragments, like a broken hurricane, sweeping over the entire wilderness – the skeletons cut everything within the range, whether it was the living demons, or those on the ground from the demonic remains of the smoke and dust rising up as well as the mud flowing on the ground, or even the ground surface stones and those fossilized like fossils. Even the stones on the ground and the fossilized “thorn bushes” were all torn apart by the hurricane and turned into “food”.
Those unwilling to be devoured by the profound demons launched a futile counterattack, their violent resistance to fill the stomach of the dog, while some more know how to avoid harm, the demons frantically rushed to the end of the wilderness, to avoid the storm that is feeding – after paying some wounds, and even pay the price of some of the limbs, only a dozen or so of demons fled to relative safety, battered and bruised.
That hurricane lasted for an unknown amount of time before it finally faded away over the wasteland, and a huge figure covered in ghostly green flames and rising with black smoke coalesced and took shape from the hurricane.
As his hunger subsided, Dog raised his head and looked in a certain direction deep within the wasteland – it vaguely sensed that a familiar aura was in the distance.
It seemed to be the “little creature” that had lived with him for a long time.
After a few seconds of slow, muddled thought, Dog slowly swivels his eyes and finds a relatively large piece of demonic debris in the messy wasteland – he lowers his head and picks it up, a vague grunt escaping his throat:
“Shirley …… I found something to eat ……”
It took a giant step and ran deeper into the wilderness.
In the midst of the wreckage and debris, the only remaining demons rose up warily, staring off into the distance in some bewilderment.
They had survived two feasts – by some fluke they hadn’t been turned into food, or at least hadn’t been eaten clean.
And the flash of green fire that appeared during the feast was still deeply imprinted in the muddled and disorganized minds of these demons until now.
It was fear, a fear that was unconditionally seared into the underlying logic of almost all of the Profound Demons, and was even able to override their chaotic instincts.
The huge cranial demon with spikes all over its black body was floating in mid-air, its body was almost “chewed” down by one third of the hurricane, but it still stubbornly survived – this demon seemed to be a bit more “intelligent” than the ordinary demons. “This monster, which seemed to be a bit smarter than ordinary demons, shook in the air for a few times, let out a muffled murmur, and then slowly flew into the distance.
But then it suddenly stopped.
The cranial demon seemed to sense something, and turned its head sharply to look at the “deep dome” above it, which covered the stagnant starry sky.
A meteor-like green flame was descending from the sky, falling straight down to the wasteland!
Perhaps the successive stimuli were too strong, and at the moment the meteor appeared, a hazy and chaotic thought appeared in the cranial demon’s muddled and unintelligent “mind”! “–
Ah, here comes the third beating ……
